My granddaughter Emily and I decided to read this as one of our bedtime stories. The cover of the book is big, bold and eye catching, which will appeal to children. Plop in a little shy rain drop that falls from his cloud. When he sees a sad little girl through her bedroom window, he decides he's going to do what he can to make her smile. Plop needs to put his little thinking cap on and think of some ideas of what he's going to do to make her smile. Plop thinks of many ways to help make the little girl happy again, he makes puddles, a rainbow, snow, then he asks all the creatures that loves rain to help him. This is a beautiful story showing how friendship and a smile can help someone a lot.
What a lovely read about a little raindrop called Plop! Teaches you all about what a raindrop can do/help with , but also teaches about kindness and making others happy. Repetitive in the sense that it had a 'chorus' which my little boy loved as he rembered it and joined in each time. Cute illustrations too that were nice and eye catching. Great read - would recommend.
This was such a lovely little book that was both fun to read and also educational.
We meet Plop! who is a little raindrop. We get to follow his journey from his comfy cloud and out into the world....and back again.
I loved that this started off by rhyming - I love to read a rhyming text out loud as it just flows so well as you read - but this then changed after the first page. It wasn't too bad though, it was just that I had to change the rhythm in which I was reading so caused me to pause on the first read through.
Each different adventure out of the cloud made up a little section in the book and the repetition of the start and end of these, created the new reading rhythm.
Each journey, Plop shows a different and fun function and activity that children can see or do when it rains - puddles, rainbows, growing flowers and even snow. These make great talking points and prompts for us to start further discussion with our little ones.
The illustrations were super cute. I loved Plop and all his raindrop friends with their cute faces. The pages were simple, clear and colourful and with some extra detail that is great to hold the interest of those you are reading to.
My only slight issue was the name - as an adult - raindrops have always dripped and dropped - rather than plipped and plopped - plop has always been reserved for 'other things' 🫣 However, this did have us (me and my older kids) chuckling for quite a while!
A great little read that I can see being a new favourite on the bookshelves at home - and would be great for a storytime read in schools and pre-schools too.
Plop is a little raindrop that lives on the clouds. It was busy one day on Plop's cloud and he fell off. He looked through the window of the house where he had fell near to and seen a little girl crying. Even though Plop was shy he wanted to make the little girl smile. After having a think he decided to make some puddles, so he dripped and dropped and with a little help from his friend they made one. After that he asked his friend light to make a rainbow which the little girl thought was beautiful. he also called on the sun to help make the flowers grow, he called on the cold wind to make snow and the creatures that loved the rain. When the thunder rumbled and roared the little girl hugged her mum, and felt safe. This is a great book of friendship and how we can make people happy with small things we do.
I received this book from Hygge Book Tours + the publisher in exchange of an honest review.
In this magical and sweet picture book we learn of a little raindrop named Plop! He loves to drip and drop and see where he plops next! In this wonderful picture book we see him try to make a little girl, who is all sad and unhappy, happy again! And he does so in many ways! From making sure there is a fun rainbow for her to explore and find a pot of gold to him summoning a storm so she could get cuddles and yummy drinks. It was all very adorable and I just loved how he didn’t stop at the first try at making her happy. He wanted her happiness battery to be all filled up to the max. I loved seeing all he did and all he thought up to make her happy. If someone did all that for me I would also be so happy. I would also have smiled and cheered and felt so much better.
Yes, parts did get a bit repetitive, but the feelings of wanting to know what is next made it all better again.
I liked the way the book was written. At times a bit of a rhyme, and all very playful to read.
Oh, and that thinking cap was adorable. Haha, you don’t often see a rain drop with a bright red thinking cap. XD
The illustrations were fun and sparkly and I liked them!
All in all, a very sweet, heart-warming read. Yes, a bit repetitive, but the story and what the little raindrop does makes up for that! I would recommend this one~ Definitely one that would be perfect on many a Christmas wishlist!
What a lovely children’s story about a raindrop trying to make a little girl smile.
My little reviewer (aged 6) loves this one and it’s now on regular rotation as a bedtime story.
The story is gentle and fun with each section ending with POOF as Plop returns to his cloud, which my little reviewer likes to shout out loud.
The illustrations are colourful and very in keeping with the story. I liked how some words are illustrated too making them stand out.
The story itself promotes kindness and empathy as Plop doesn’t want the little girl to be sad. It also shows how he uses his friends to make rainbows, puddles and snow.
This is a lovely endearing book about Plop, who is a little raindrop. One day he falls from his cloud and sees a sad little girl. He aims to cheer her up and make her smile and enlists the help of friends to do so
The illustrations are beautiful, as is the story, which also gives us an insight into water and weather and the importance of this. It also teaches kindness.
The only slight downside for me was that the start of each story rhymed but the rest didn't and I felt it didn’t flow as well as it could have, however, it wouldn't put me off recommending.
Thank you to the author for my beautiful gifted copy and to Hygge Book Tours for inviting me on the tour.
We get to meet Plop! in this very cute story. Plop! is a tiny raindrop who makes a big impact on people's lives.
The story shows young readers all the different ways rain can function - creating puddles, making rainbows, helping flowers to grow and even becoming snow!
The story helps the readers learn about the water cycle as well as showing kindness.
There is repetition and rhyme throughout which my daughter loved just as much as she loved the beautiful illustrations.
What an adorable way to teach children about the Water Cycle and all the ways that water is used, as well as a lesson in kindness! I think Plop is absolutely adorable. Children will love him and easily remember his story. There is rhyme and repetition, making this an excellent selection for young children. The illustrations are beautiful as well. I really adored this book and think it is fabulous for young readers.
Plop is the sweetest little raindrop who falls from his cloud and finds a little girl who is very sad. He decides to try to make her happy and finds lots of friends to help. The wonderful illustrations by Ken Dawson make this a beautiful book to be read and enjoyed time and time again.
A cute story about Plop the raindrop, who wants to spread cheer with different kinds of weather. Part of the Hygge Book Tour, a lovely tale for pre-school-6.
