Reunited with some welcome, familiar faces from his past, Kris’ quest to track down Vincent is on. A strange but compelling lead takes him to a glitzy casino in Monaco, and whispers of a fugitive arms dealer, and a shipment of human blood mysteriously stolen from a clinic.
Through hails of bullets and high-stakes poker, Kris finds himself drawn to the war-torn African nation of Nubalaya. There, he’s tasked with finding and capturing a fearsome rebel warlord, a man accused of the most heinous crimes, and believed by his enemies to possess supernatural strength.
Deep within the remorseless African wilderness, Kris will come to confront the so-called warlord, only to discover he's quite unlike any foe he's ever encountered…
Getting a bit stale. Simple, not much plot movement.
I really enjoyed this series, but this book in the series was frustrating. The main character never seems to improve and the power balance scales of the author keeps fluctuating, when the main character is able to do something in one book but can never be repeated in a simple action or form in a another scenario in a different book. The cluelessness of the main character became grating on your nerves... the story becomes stale with an old trope spy story that never really had any suspense. I hope this is a one-off week attempt and the author improves the series from here.
This one is away from the usual story but did make interesting reading. Some of the outcomes were a little too obvious, and I feel we could definitely increase our skills of the team a bit further. This series does make nice light reading, however, which is why I probably come back to it each time even if it isn't top of my reading list.
