This is a beautifully written, contemporary romance novel. It has a likable female protagonist who has five adorable children, small town charm, betrayal, faith, healing, and a heartwarming conclusion. I especially like the pie baking tips. Jeannie Sheneman does a wonderful job narrating the audiobook.

Love the feel good feeling one gets by reading a Tess Thompson book. Beautiful start to a new series that has betrayal, heartbreak, mystery, forgiveness and love. You’re heart will go out to Stella and her boys as she struggles to keep their family together. She has the love of her boys and hope that all will work out for them. Meeting Jasper has her thinking maybe?

Loved this! My first Tess Thompson book and I was not disappointed. I'm just disappointed in myself for waiting so long. I have a few of her books, so I'll be diving into them as well.

I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised when I was pulled in from the beginning. Some drama, definitely some heartstrings and some tears (happy and sad). I loved Jasper from the beginning and seeing Stella's dedication to her boys, I quickly loved her too. Each of the boys had something special about them. I wondered how Jasper's Penny ( his beloved cat ) would feel about Stella's household.

I don't think I would change a thing about the book.

Stella è cresciuta in un piccolo paesino dove tutti si conoscono. La sua famiglia ha un piccolo ranch da generazioni ma il sogno di Stella è quello di studiare all'università e di diventare veterinaria. I suoi piani vengono sconvolti quando incontra ad un rodeo Rex e dopo poco si ritrova incinta e sposata.
Dopo 11 anni ha ormai 5 figli maschi e il suo matrimonio è finito da tempo. Rex se ne è andato più volte ma Stella lo sempre perdonato per amore dei figli. Ora però sembra che sia la volta definitiva.
Stella si ritrova sola con 5 bambini, un ranch malandato e un sacco di debiti.
In città si è appena trasferito un simpatico californiano, Jasper Moon, ed è il nuovo direttore della banca e capo di Jenny, la migliore amica di Stella.
La loro conoscenza non inizia nei migliori dei modi, ma Jasper rimane conquistato da Stella e dai suoi figli e capisce che lei è quella giusta, ma sa anche se è una donna delusa e ferita e che dovrà procedere con i piedi piombo.
Quando la cose sembrano andare meglio, una notizia sconvolgerà ancora una volta la vita di Stella, ma questa volta non sarà da sola ad affrontare tutto.

Nuova serie della Thompson e devo dire che siamo partiti bene. Scritto bene, scorrevole e con personaggi ben caratterizzati.
Vengono descritti bene i vari figli che poi saranno i protagonisti dei volumi successivi, mentre forse la storia di Stella ha delle tempistiche un po' veloci all'inizio.
Approvato Jasper, uomo tutto d'un pezzo, forse un po' mammone, ma con un cuore d'oro.
Sono rimasta basita per la trovata dell'autrice per far uscire di scena Rex, magari l'epilogo giusto ma non avrei messo tutta la tragedia, anche se poi segnerà la vita dei due protagonisti del prossimo volume.

Sinora conoscevo Tessa Thompson soprattutto per le sue serie storiche. Tuttavia, questa autrice è molto brava a ricreare storie di vita di provincia anche nel contemporaneo, come accade per questa nuova serie ambientata nel Montana, in un piccolo ranch che avrebbe bisogno di una sistemazione, ma che si presta molto bene a diventare un nuovo luogo del cuore per i lettori.

Undici anni prima Stella, prossima ad andare all’università, ha commesso l’errore di illudersi che un amore travolgente le avrebbe cambiato la vita in meglio.
So che è brutto definire errore un grande amore, ma se una tale scelta significa rinunciare ai propri sogni e non avere la giusta compensazione per ciò che si sacrifica, poteva essere meglio ponderata.

Dopo una prima gravidanza inattesa, Stella si è dunque ritrovata a mandare avanti il ranch di famiglia, un po' la strada senza uscita che si era ripromessa di evitare. E la vita è stata dura, tra lutti, solitudine, un marito non all’altezza del sogno, continui pesi sulle spalle.
Per fortuna, ci sono anche cinque adorabili piccoli piccoli guerrieri, i suoi bambini che cercano di farsi roccia per sostenerla. E, per fortuna, ci sono le seconde occasioni e ci sono uomini che mantengono le loro promesse, come Jasper.

Un romanzo coccola che scalda il cuore, perché parte da premesse malinconiche e amare arrivando a rischiarare l’orizzonte, riempiendoci di speranza, comunque sia, sulla possibilità che il grande amore (a volte) sia dietro l’angolo. Nonostante tutto. Avendo la pazienza di aspettare e crederci.
Direi che è un ottimo inizio per una serie che si preannuncia corale, sofferta, ma piena di buoni sentimenti.

This story was the start to a brand new series and WOW, what a start! In classic Tess fashion, she had me hooked from page one. In this story, she brought it all. Drama, check. Danger, check. Romance, both good and bad, check. It also happens around Christmas, so it just happens to bring a little bit of holiday cheer. What's not to love about that?

It was a very well written story with interesting and powerful characters. Stella, Rex, Jasper,the boys. I could go on and on about each one, but I don't want ANY spoilers. I can't mention the characters without talking about the emotions, too. This book has such an amazing storyline that had me feeling ALL the things. Mad, happy, sad, yes, I felt them all.

That being said, this was one of the best books I have read this year. I loved it from page one. The setting, the people, and the whole feeling of this book was one that I'll have in my mind for a long time. Anyone will love this book, young or old. It's beautiful. I know I can't wait for the next book.

This is a lovely romance Western style. Great characters you can really care about in a picturesque Montana setting. As usual Thompson has the town filled with quirky characters, right down to Penny the cat, and captures the details and emotions of heartbreak and loss. Stella's story is compelling and touching, and I'll be looking forward to the next Moon adventure.

I protagonisti, Stella e Jasper, mi hanno conquistata fin da subito: lei, una madre forte e determinata che cerca di salvare il suo ranch in difficoltà; lui, un uomo di città che si ritrova affascinato dalla tranquillità e dai legami affettivi di una piccola comunità del Montana.

Jasper con il suo carattere gentile e riservato ti entra nel cuore, e il legame che costruisce con Stella e i suoi figli è così tenero da seguire.

Era il primo libro che leggevo di questa autrice e devo dire che il suo stile è super scorrevole! Ogni personaggio è tratteggiato con cura e la trama si evolve in modo naturale.

L'unico piccola pecca per me è stato il plot twist: inaspettato sì, ma forse un po' troppo frettoloso. Avrei voluto che fosse approfondito di più... ma tutto sommato la lettura è stata una coccola!

Se cercate una storia romantica e leggera "Mama Moon stella " è quella che fa per voi.

PS: Il prossimo libro avrà come protagonisti Atticus, il figlio maggiore di Stella, e Annie, la sua migliore amica. E io sono già super curiosa di scoprire la loro storia!

L’estate è nel vivo, ma questo emozionante, coinvolgente e bellissimo romanzo ci porta a fare un tuffo nelle colorate e intime atmosfere autunnali del Montana, a pochi giorni dalla festa del Ringraziamento, per poi condurci poco dopo, in quelle più ovattate e gioiose del Natale. Ma non è che uno dei tanti aspetti che conquistano, perché è una lettura che ha il suono cristallino delle risate dei bambini e quello del crepitio della legna che arde allegra nel camino. Ma ha soprattutto il profumo di cannella e di torta di mele, quella che sa di casa e famiglia. Un dolce semplice che piace a tutti, preparato con amorevole cura, amalgamando tra loro gli ingredienti, con comprensione, tenerezza, rispetto e sapienza, ma soprattutto con attenzione e pazienza. Sono le qualità indispensabili che sanno creare la magia, una torta talmente buona, soffice e dal bordo friabile, da vincere il premio più importante: una relazione stabile, armoniosa e accogliente, nutrita da quell’amore vero che si espande e si moltiplica fino a inglobare tutto! Mama Moon: Stella è un romanzo che racconta di buoni sentimenti e di valori importanti, quelli che emergono dalle parole dell’autrice, e che sanno accarezzare il cuore e toccare in profondità le corde più sensibili. La tenerezza e il romanticismo rappresentano il fulcro dell’intera storia, anche se esiste un retrogusto di gradevole suspense e una buona dose di drammaticità che si concentra in un colpo di scena mozzafiato, che sa creare il perfetto contrappeso rendendo la trama più movimentata e bilanciata, evitando così di scivolare in un eccesso di zucchero. Ma è tutta una questione di crosta:

"La mia crosta era una miscela molto precisa di burro e margarina. La stanza doveva avere la giusta temperatura. Questo era scontato. Era anche necessario usare esattamente quattro cubetti di ghiaccio in mezza tazza d’acqua e poi far gocciolare con cura l’acqua gelida negli ingredienti secchi, un cucchiaio alla volta."

Impossibile non scoprirsi a sorridere, mentre si legge, con il cuore traboccante di emozione e bellezza, per la bontà e la maturità di Jasper, il protagonista maschile, così protettivo, presente e confortante, ma anche terribilmente affascinante, saggio, allegro e spiritoso. Ma non c’è soltanto lui a far innamorare, perché ci si scioglie nella tenerezza per le tante pagine in cui sono i bambini di Stella a diventare il punto focale della scena, con i loro caratteri, le loro curiosità, la maturità inaspettata, i loro sogni, le idee geniali, i timori e desideri. Impossibile non immedesimarsi nella protagonista femminile, così forte ma allo stesso tempo fragile, una donna come tante, che ha commesso l’errore di amare troppo, di credere talmente tanto in un sentimento importante, da compiere delle leggerezze e degli errori, in nome di quell’emozione che regge il mondo e fa compiere imprese impossibili, incuranti della stanchezza e della fatica. La verità è che Stella, è sempre stata alla ricerca di ciò che avrebbe riempito quel vuoto che ha sempre avvertito fin da bambina, pertanto è nel suo bisogno di sentirsi amata e apprezzata, che trovano motivazione le sue scelte, le azioni del passato e ogni suo sbaglio. Ma come non comprenderla e non essere solidali con lei, se oltre al cuore ci ha messo tutta se stessa per far funzionare le cose? Per fortuna la vita toglie e la vita regala, basta avere pazienza e saper aspettare, così come ha saputo attendere il momento giusto Jasper, con calma e comprensione, fino a quando i venti della tragedia si sono placati e il passato ha smesso di fare male. Ma nel frattempo, come lentamente e in maniera inarrestabile cresce l’erba del pascolo, maturano i frutti e fioriscono i sentimenti, ha continuato a riempire con la sua presenza tutti gli spazi lasciati vuoti, colmando e sanando ogni ferita.

"Ricordo che Jennie riuscì ad avvicinarci sempre di più alla stella della serata, finché alla fine ci trovammo accanto a lui. Da vicino era ancora più sexy: occhi del colore di un azzurro cielo invernale e una bocca che si incurvava in un sorriso ogni volta che pronunciavo una parola."

Ed è così che inizia il romanzo, con un salto temporale che ci riporta a quando Stella incontra Rex Sharp, il bellissimo campione di rodeo. Lei è giovanissima, ha appena concluso l’High School ed è un’adolescente coscienziosa, piena di sogni e progetti per il futuro. E’ una ragazza che si è sempre impegnata duramente, lavorando nel ranch di famiglia senza mai trascurare i libri, per poter ottenere la borsa di studio che le avrebbe permesso di frequentare il College e laurearsi in veterinaria. Voleva lasciarsi alle spalle Bluefern, nel Montana occidentale, un piccolo agglomerato di case in mezzo al nulla e a un’ora da Bozeman. Aveva grandi progetti, nessuno dei quali includeva un uomo, ma le cose sono andate diversamente, tanto da essere stata costretta a rinunciare a tutto per vivere la sua favola d’amore, il suo sogno pieno di promesse e speranze, ma che ben presto si è trasformato nel suo peggior incubo. Una quotidianità che avrebbe tollerato con molta più fatica, se non ci fossero stati i cinque figli, la sua migliore amica Jennie e la sua vicina di ranch, “Iris paffuta e morbida come un bacio di farfalla”, generosa, sempre disponibile e amorevole, che la protagonista avrebbe tanto voluto fosse la sua vera madre!

"Potevo sentire la voce di mia madre. Perché hai fatto così tanti figli, allora? «Perché renderanno il mondo un posto migliore» sussurrai ad alta voce. «Aspetta e vedrai.»

Un romanzo che già dall’inizio appare intenso e toccante, ma assolutamente emozionante, coinvolgente e palpitante, grazie alla trama, allo stile narrativo dell’autrice e alla puntuale e abile traduzione di Isabella Nanni, che ci permette di poter godere anche di questa lettura. La realtà di Stella subisce un tracollo, pertanto è costretta a fare appello a tutte le sue forze per gestire la sua difficile quotidianità, pur lottando contro il senso dell’abbandono, quello di inadeguatezza, compresa la rabbia, la delusione e la frustrazione, per essersi sbagliata, di aver creduto possibile l’impossibile. Una donna travolta dalla consapevolezza di avere tutto sulle spalle, la responsabilità del ranch di famiglia, che versa in una situazione economica disastrosa, la casa in cui abita, che ha bisogno urgentemente di molte riparazioni, ma soprattutto nei confronti del suo futuro e quello dei suoi figli ancora piccoli, senza poter contare su nessuno, se non su Iris, per le confidenze e le piccole questioni quotidiane e, per il sostegno morale sulla sua migliore amica Jennie. Ma in tutto questo turbinio eventi, tra disordine mentale, pettegolezzi e amarezza, , accade l’impensabile, un incontro che segnerà l’inizio di un qualcosa di semplice, genuino, chiaro e pulito, ma immensamente grande, come soltanto la straordinarietà della normalità può esserlo. Nella sua vita entra in punta di piedi Jasper che, con un sorriso e una battuta sa fare breccia nella corazza ispessita e lacera, così come nella vita di una donna sull’orlo della crisi, tanto da saper diventare una figura di riferimento, una spalla sulla quale appoggiarsi nei momenti ancora più bui che, come un fulmine a ciel sereno, arriveranno, costringendo Stella e non solo lei, a fare i conti con quello che non avrebbe mai immaginato.

"Una cosa l’avevamo fatta bene. I nostri ragazzi. Erano perfetti. Tutti diversi e allo stesso tempo simili. Fieri e intelligenti, vivaci come i cagnolini che avevo allevato nel corso degli anni. Per un decennio, erano arrivati puntualmente ogni due anni. I miei cinque piccoli angeli travestiti da ragazzini birichini e turbolenti."

Un romanzo che mi ha emozionato e che consiglio a tutti coloro che amano le storie d’amore potenti ma che viaggiano sui binari del quotidiano, mentre raccontano di incontri che sanno travolgere la vita migliorandola. Jasper è un personaggio chiave, il protagonista positivo, quello che non chiede ma offre se stesso, la sua esperienza e il suo modo d’essere pulito e sincero. Un uomo per bene, che sa insinuarsi lentamente nella vita di Stella, per mettere ogni cosa al suo posto, con semplicità e dedizione, fino ad arrivare ad aggiustare anche i piccoli e grandi cuori, rotti, delusi, amareggiati e feriti. Un romanzo che si trasforma in una carezza e in un abbraccio, che profuma di torta di mele, di atmosfere intime, di famiglia e di buoni sentimenti. Buona lettura e alla prossima!

Sometimes falling for a rodeo cowboy. You Think you have everything figured out life is gonna be good.. Not expecting curves. Life can sometimes throw your way.


This book begins a new series for this author. And i'm excited to see what each book brings. I have loved each book I have read by this author. And i'm excited for this new series.
Every book has been a absolute five star read for me.

It was an interesting story but predictable.

September 2024: Read it again - although I didn't remember reading it before! I enjoyed the book, read it quickly and then grabbed the next one in the series. I've updated my rating to 4 stars.

If you’re going to read a Tess Thompson book make sure you have your box of tissues handy, because you’re going to cry. With sadness, with joy, with anger, with frustration, with despair, with hope, with contentment. Just trust me, you are going to cry. It’s like those television commercials where you find yourself crying when you least expect it. With Thompson’s books you are so immediately invested in the characters that everything they do, everything that happens to them, is meaningful.

Mama Moon is the first of the Crescent Moon Ranch series, a series I hope goes on forever. A dozen years ago Stella McKinnon was full of promise, ambition and dreams. She was leaving Bozeman, Montana, going off to school to become a veterinarian, and would come back and care for all the animals in town. But she found herself in a situation and had to make a choice. And now she’s drained, washed out, worn out. Never left Bozeman, never became a vet, never followed her dreams because a rodeo cowboy named Rex Sharp caught her eye and captured her heart. Showed her what she thought was affection, something she never received at home. Rex never wanted to be a rancher, never really seemed to want Stella. He has a pattern of leaving Stella “because the pull of the rodeo is too strong” but coming back a few weeks or months later, having realized she was what he wanted all along. Or so he says. When he tells her he’s leaving again, this time feels different. Stella realizes that whatever love she felt for him is finally gone, eroded, she’s stopped seeing him through that filter of hope. The only good thing she’s ever gotten from him is her five young boys, and that’s the one thing she wants. That and the ranch that has been in her family for generations. The ranch she is perilously close to losing.

Stella vows to herself to do whatever is necessary to keep the ranch and make a home there for her boys. They are a handful – of course they are, 5 boys ranging from 11 to 3 – but they are good boys. Their mama loves them and has taught them well. Rex may be gone but Stella has her best friend Jennie to support her as she’s always done. She has friends, and Iris, who was more like a mother to her growing up than her own mother. She’ll make it. And flirting and dating and relationships are the farthest thing from her mind. She sees herself as “rode hard and put up wet” (I love this expression, reminds me of hearing this when growing up in the country), and what man in his right mind would want this pale, tired, wiped-out woman who, oh yes by the way, has five young sons.

But then she meets Jasper Moon, the manager of the new bank branch that just opened in town, Jennie’s boss. Kind of a city slicker (leather loafers – where are his boots??) but not really. He’s smart, sensitive, strong. Raised by a single mother he knows how to take care of things, and soon he discovers he wants to take care of Stella and those boys.

To say any more would take away the pure joy you’ll experience reading Mama Moon for yourself. Stella is a wonderful woman and deserves to be happy and cared for. Atticus, Caspian, Rafferty, Soren and Thad are adorable. Each of them unique but so much Stella’s sons. Jennie and Mark are there for Stella as always. Their daughter Annie and Atticus have a deep bond, one that seems destined to run forever. Jennie seems a little off, but Stella will try and find out why. Jasper settles into town as if he was born there: rebuilds his ranch house, enters the pie-baking contest, becomes a valued part of the community. But everything does not go smoothly. There are surprises, shocks even, betrayal, hopelessness. You’re going to need those tissues. But through it all, the goodness of people, the love of family, the desire to protect shine through.

Thanks to the author for providing a copy of Mama Moon as part of her review team. I never met a Tess Thompson book I didn’t love and don’t ever expect to. Mama Moon was emotional, inspirational, and utterly satisfying. I leave this review voluntarily; all opinions are my own.

Altra collaborazione, la seconda che ho con la brava e gentilissima Isabella Nanni. Questo libro mi ha catturata molto.
Sembra di essere catapultati in uno di quei film natalizi dove i protagonisti sono pieni di avversità ma che hanno anche forza d'animo da vendere e che, chissà come, riescono a cavarsela.
La trama è molto semplice ma è anche intensa. L'Autrice riesce, con il doppio POV in prima persona, nel coinvolgere il lettore. Anche se sembra una lettura incentrata solo su due personaggi, vi sono molte iterazioni con terze parti e ciò rende più leggera la lettura.
Come sempre, Isabella Nanni è riuscita bene a tradurre il testo, rendendo bene ogni parte di esso.
La struttura del racconto è lineare anche se vi sono, soprattutto da parte della protagonista, molti flashback che racconta lei stessa, spiegando nel tempo cosa realmente sia accaduto nella sua vita.
La storia in sé è affrontata in modo delicato e la mancanza di scene spicy da la possibilità di godere a fondo della narrazione, il conflitto interiore e introspettivo dei vari personaggi presenti è più marcato e personale, il che mi ha lasciato un sapore dolce e piacevole nella mente.
I sentimenti sono più genuini e privi di malizia. L'affetto nasce da un tipo di conforto molto diverso e più coinvolgente, più stabile e realistico.
Ammetto che più che la storia tra i protagonisti ho amato quando il testo si concentrava sui cinque figli di Stella. L'Amore materno è stato palpabile per i piccoli e viceversa, così come i caratteri ben definiti degli stessi. Di fatti sono curiosa di scoprire ora il secondo libro di cosa tratterà, dato che sembra si concentrerà sul primogenito e la sua amica di infanzia.
Ho trovato davvero bello il coinvolgimento di Jasper man mano che leggevo, perché è stato graduale ma persistente.
Tutto era ben incastrato, dalle motivazioni per cui Stella era così 'cruda' al perché Jasper avesse un così 'disperato' desiderio di aiutare lei e i suoi figli.
Devo però ammettere una cosa, che avevo già compreso da un evento in particolare che accade nei primi capitoli, quale fosse il colpo di scena. Probabilmente questa 'intuizione' è scaturita dal fatto che legga testi decisamente più 'articolati'. Ciò però non mi ha levato il piacere della lettura, perché alla fine non era altro che un dettaglio, quasi estraneo alla storia in sé, perché la trama poteva andare avanti anche senza questo colpo di scena. L'ho visto più come messo lì per 'chiudere' definitivamente delle situazioni che preoccupavano la protagonista.
'Mama Moon', che capirete durante la lettura il gioco di parole che ho molto apprezzato, è un libro invernale che va letto magari nei giorni prima di Natale, accoccolati sul divano con sottofondo della musica Country mentre magari fuori, per chi vive in zone che lo permettono, vi è la neve che scende delicata. Fra le mani ovviamente una bella cioccolata calda o del buon thè con dei biscotti di zenzero, se non proprio con una fetta di torta di mele.
Consiglio la lettura a chi ha voglia di qualcosa di leggero ma anche romantico, i temi di rivalsa e sacrificio e soprattutto di attaccamento familiare sono molto ben delineati. La ricerca di un posto nel Mondo, la voglia di amare ed essere amati sono i temi portanti di tutta la storia.

Mama Moon è il prologo della serie Crescent Moon Ranch in cui conosciamo la capostipite della famiglia: Stella.
Da diciottenne neo diplomata, sicura di sfruttare la sua borsa di studio per diventare una veterinaria capace di salvare la vita dei grandi animali che vivono nei ranch, Stella guardava alla sua vita come a una fase destinata a terminare per fare spazio alla vita in una città grande con ogni tipo di opportunità. L’affetto famigliare era troppo marginale per trattenerla legata a un ranch che le era sempre stato preferito dai genitori, ma l’incontro con colui che le sembrava il miglior uomo del mondo poteva essere la scusa per non partire, lui, ma soprattutto una nuova vita che stava crescendo dentro di lei.
Stella è una madre eroe. La serenità dei suoi figli viene prima di tutto, di qualsiasi suo desiderio, pena o pensiero. La sua vita ha senso solo perché è stata arricchita da cinque gioielli che, ognuno con le sue peculiarità, lei ha visto nascere e da lei ha imparato tutto, primo tra tutti il rispetto. I figli di Stella la amano profondamente perché hanno compreso la forza e la resilienza della donna che per loro ha solo sorrisi e incoraggiamenti, parole di affetto e abbracci. Non servono ricchezze per amare e si sa che un sentimento profondo e sincero è il tesoro più grande che si possa avere.
Sono tanti gli avvenimenti che si susseguono in un autunno ricco di neve, come al solito nel Montana, e che vedono protagonisti Stella e Jasper.
Jasper Moon è un tranquillo bancario di giorno, lavoratore preciso e professionale, e uomo tuttofare di notte. Ama ristrutturare e dare nuova vita alle abitazioni diroccate, usare la manualità e la praticità per sistemare case vecchie. Jasper riesce a usare questa dote anche ne confronti di Stella: vede il tesoro che è, la pietra preziosa che brilla sotto strati di dolore e sofferenza e con mano esperta riesce ad aiutarla a ritrovare nuovamente se stessa, riesce a farle trovare una nuova possibilità.

Questo libro è un inizio molto coinvolgente, un modo per presentare i giovani figli di Stella per me nuovo e interessante. I bambini dimostrano già quali sono le loro peculiarità e resta molta curiosità per scoprire cosa gli capiterà una volta diventati adulti.

Sono felice di aver conosciuto la penna di Tess Thompson, resa in modo preciso e con profonda proprietà di linguaggio dalla traduttrice, Isabella Nanni, e resto in attesa dei prossimi volumi della serie.

Tess Thompson torna dai lettori italiani con una nuova serie, ambientata nei bellissimi paesaggi del Montana, con nuovi personaggi protagonisti di una saga familiare.
Fin dalle prime pagine ci immergiamo nella vita dei ranch e delle gare di Rodeo, delle canzoni country che parlano di tradimenti e amori di una vita, e conosciamo subito Stella, una donna che ha scelto e deciso di essere parte di quel mondo.
Sì, perché Stella era destinata al college e diventare veterinaria, premiata dal suo studio, e invece aveva conosciuto a un rodeo un affascinante cowboy, e lo aveva sposato, dandogli poi ben cinque figli.
Un matrimonio non riuscito, dove solo i figli e il duro lavoro al ranch l’avevano aiutata negli anni ad affrontare la quotidianità di un marito assente, spesso ubriaco e anche traditore.
Proprio dopo l’ultimo abbandono, Stella riprende in mano la sua vita in modo davvero pianissimo, soprattutto capendo di aver avuto dei genitori che non le hanno mai perdonato la sua scelta e un marito che in quel matrimonio non voleva stare, ma lo fa senza più lacrime.

In quella piccola cittadina, che ha solo un ufficio postale, una tavola calda e una via principale, c’è però anche una banca, dove è stato inviato come direttore Jasper, e dove lavora anche la migliore amica di Stella.
Jasper è un californiano anomalo, perché ha scelto di trasferirsi in uno stato completamente diverso, ma è anche un uomo che si dedica al restauro e ai lavori manuali.
Come nel suo stile, l’autrice è sempre molto brava nei passaggi narrativi di storie di seconde opportunità, di famiglie con figli e legami, senza mai cadere nello sdolcinato o in chiusure frettolose.

Tutti i cinque figli di Stella sono ben definiti, senza mai essere scontati, in una storia che di semplice ha ben poco, poiché c’è anche un colpo di scena drammatico.
L’ottima traduzione ed editing accompagnano la lettura molto piacevolmente, così come la bella cover.

How do I describe this heart pulling novel without giving away all of the good and bad emotions that come with it on the journey to reading this!?

I will start off by saying it is such a wholesome ranch romance after some tragic heartbreaking hardships that one family has faced. Stella and her sweet boys only have each other for refuge and strength after a heartbreak and loss close to home. That is, until friends and a handsome banker rally behind them for support. Stella continues trying hard to keep up the strength for herself and her boys all the while also trying to keep her generational ranch afloat. She definitely doesn’t need Jasper, a good looking suit wearing banker right!? I mean the last thing she even wants to think about is another chance at love all the while still healing. But can she truly resist his charm and his perseverance at wanting to mend her broken heart and her run down ranch? Follow this feel good story about a single mom and her five boys who find strength, love and family not only with each other, but with a caring city man who came into their lives just when they needed him most. And just a city banker turned small town banker whose heart and home lies with the single mother and her five boys.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a feel good winter ranch vibe where hearts are broken, but then are mended in all the best ways! The places and the characters were relatable and described so well that I could picture it all! It’s also about finding that inner strength and that it’s okay to rely on others to help give you strength when needed. It is also okay to fall in love again after a loss. We are all deserving of some kind of love whether it’s from family, friends or a stranger that ends up being a big part of your life too! I can’t wait for the next book to see the home that once was broken, but then put back together through strength and all the love!

Un libro che dalla trama mi aveva catturata e devo dire che non ne sono rimasta delusa tutt’alto perché da un semplice romance che credevo che fosse, ho provato molte emozioni contrastanti per le situazione che si sono andate a creare nel corso della narrazione inoltre c’è stato anche un lato di mistero su Jennie amica di Stella che non mi sarei mai neanche immaginata nonostante alcuni sospetti mi siano venuti in un certo momento per il modo in cui si comportava nei confronti di Stella, infine vediamo come l’amore può rendere felici dopo dei momenti difficili, che la famiglia non è solo quella di sangue ma la cosa importante è avere qualcuno che ci ama e ci tiene veramente a noi.
Stella per tutta a sua vita ha sentito la mancanza dell'affetto dei suoi genitori molto freddi con lei e trovato in Iris una figura materna e l'affetto che ha sempre desiderato, il fatto che sia una mamma single ai miei occhi la rende ancora più affascinante e il fatto che non crede in se stessa mi lascia sconcertata perché è perfetta così com’è, è una donna forte, materna, dolce, determinta, disperata, incline al perdono, intelligente, tenace, indipendente e non cerca l’approvazione degli altri. Una volta era dolce, accondiscendente, compiacente con le persone non c'era un filo di spigolo da nessuna parte, con Jasper la vera donna emergere dalla sua tristezza e dalla sua delusione.
Jasper è un uomo affascinante, forte, determinato, divertente, gentile, educato, lento, costante, affabile, nonostante abbia sofferto per il tradimento della sua ex ragazza con il suo amico ha un cuore gentile e dolce che vede in lei la sua casa e non esita a starle accanto con pazienza. Un tipo di uomo che ama l'arte, lavora in banca e ristruttura case, un uomo unico.
Un finale che mi ha fatto commuovere per la dichiarazione di Jasper non solo verso Stella ma anche verso i ragazzi che vede come dei figli. La cosa che mi ha stupito e intrigato è la presenza di un capitolo bonus su gli scambi di lettere tra Atticus e Annie i protagonisti del prossimo romanzo.

I read all over the romance spectrum. One week it is spicy alien chaos, the next it is sweet small town comfort. It really just depends on my mood, the time of the month, or whatever vibe I am chasing. So I went in fully aware this was going to be a mayonnaise level of spice. Zero jalapeños in sight.

The kids were the highlight for me. They each had their own personalities, which made their scenes feel lively and real. I just wish we had gotten more depth with them. It is a short book, so there was not a ton of space for character development, but I would have happily traded a few other scenes for more time with the kids.

Sometimes wholesome books tip a little too far into heavy religious messaging for my taste. I do not mind a passing mention of church, but when “God” shows up 36 times, that is where I personally bow out. In all fairness, some of those were just everyday phrases like “oh God” in frustration or “thank God” in relief, not necessarily direct religious commentary. Still, it felt like a lot for me. Because of that, I will not be continuing the series.

The Jennie storyline was also very predictable. It was obvious she was having an affair with Stella’s husband. I will give the author this though, I did not see the murder-suicide coming. Jennie shooting Rex and then herself was unexpected. Still, it felt like a quick and convenient way to tie everything up. Once Rex was gone, the story basically fast-forwarded through starting a business and a proposal like we were checking items off a to-do list.

And honestly, I could not get past the backstory. She was with Rex for 11 or 12 years, and we are told he was a terrible husband and father for most, if not all, of that marriage. He left her three times. She suspected him of cheating. He is known to get drunk and basically tell her and the kids they ruined his life. And yet she chose to have five kids with him. At some point I started questioning every choice she made. Instead of rooting for her fresh start, I found myself stuck on the math of it all.

Visto che fa così caldo, e non vedo l'ora che sia di nuovo natale oggi ho letto un piccolo romance natalizio con i Cowboy. Sì avete letto bene, NON LO LASCIO IL POSTO FISSO!

A parte gli scherzi, sapete che i libri natalizi e i cowboy sono il mio pane quotidiano. Non potevo assolutamente farmi scappare questa occasione.

Una delle note di merito per questo libro è sicuramente l'ambientazione e la sua magia.

Il Montana passa in fretta dai colori autunnali a quelli invernali. Vi assicuro che questo cambiamento vi farà sognare e vi accompagnerà per quasi tutto il libro.

Trovo che questo cambiamento sia un ottima metafora per la nostra protagonista. Per arrivare alla fine di un grosso cambiamento bisogna attraversare periodi difficili e rigidi come un inverno per raggiungere la primavera e quindi il nostro traguardo.

Ma che cambiamento sta affrontando la nostra protagonista?

Stella è una giovane madre di cinque bambini stupendi. Avendo appena lasciato il marito ora dovrà rimboccarsi le maniche per mantenere la casa e la sua famiglia.

Jasper arriva in città in punta di piedi, come direttore della nuova banca e altrettanto in punta di piedi entra nella vita di Stella e dei suoi bambini.

Ho molto apprezzato che la storia parli di rinascita, di voglia di cambiare e mettersi in gioco.

Jasper è un golden boy, in tutto il libro non ha sbagliato una singola cosa.

Jasper è un uomo paziente, buono, con un gran cuore. Entrando nella vita di Stella e la sua famiglia riuscirà a curare ogni ferita e a lasciare un timbro indelebile in ognuno di loro.

Il rapporto tra i nostri protagonisti è dolce, semplice. Da un amicizia scatta l'intesa, c'è comprensione tra i due, fiducia e collaborazione.

Certo, anche nelle città piccole i drammi non mancano e sarà proprio questo fattaccio improvviso a cambiare le vite dei nostri protagonisti.
Entrare nella vita di Stella e Jasper vi farà sentire come se foste seduti davanti a un caminetto acceso, con un tè caldo e magari una bella fetta di torta di mele. Vi direi che per me questo libro è la definizione di cozy vibes, vi sentirete avvolti in una morbida calda coperta. Stella mi ha fatto sentire una figlia amata, lei vive per la sua famiglia e l'amore per i suoi bambini è quasi indescrivibile.

L'unica nota semi negativa è la durata del romanzo. Non fraintendetemi, nulla viene risolto troppo in fretta, tutti i dettagli che ci vengono presentati leggendo vengono sviluppati molto bene, io personalmente avrei preferito qualche pagina in più dove avremmo potuto vedere più scorci sulla vita dei nostri protagonisti.

Sweet, innocent Stella. She gets caught up in Rex's web, and understandably so. Those rodeo men can be quite delicious with their charisma and bravery. She thinks she has everything that she wants, because he gives her five sons. But happiness is in the eye of the beholder, and his eyes have gone elsewhere. Tragedy strikes and secrets are revealed, shattering Stella's world and leaving her all on her own with her boys. Life looks tough, but those boys are gonna give their mama what she needs to persevere. And I mean a MAMA, not just a mother. If you haven't fallen in love with these kids by the end of this first book, I don't know what to tell you. Just wait until you get to know them better. Each one of them does right by their mama and tugs at your heartstrings.

And then there's Jasper, the new man in town who becomes a sort of knight in shining armor without taking away from any of Stella's strength. If anything, he helps her find it again. We could all use someone like him to help us to be our best. I also love him for being able to look past her hurt and awkwardness as she tries to move on. And bless him for taking on such an enormous responsibility! Life works in mysterious ways sometimes.

I love Tess Thompson's small town settings. Crescent Moon Ranch is 100% a place that I would love to visit. I also love how she manages to create these beautiful families who face adversity and then come back stronger than ever. Each character and family member is completely their authentic selves, showing us how wonderful the dynamic family can be and how we need a variety of people to make this world go 'round. Mama Moon lays a strong foundation for the upcoming books in this series, and I'm here for every single one of them.

Il libro è carino e mi ha tenuto compagnia per qualche giorno. I personaggi principali sono ben caratterizzati e spiccano sui secondari che, nonostante le varie dinamiche del libro, rimangono comunque, a mio avviso, semplici figure di contorno.
Tuttavia devo dire che la lettura in alcuni momenti mi ha reso perplessa.
Andiamo per ordine.
Ho trovato Stella un personaggio molto vero e genuino, cosa che apprezzo sempre nella lettura di un libro. La sua storia può essere la storia di tante donne e questo la rende autentica anche attraverso la carta.
Jasper cuore di panna, un uomo adorabile che veramente mentre leggevo ho pensato: "God, when it's my turn?".
Ho adorato l'atmosfera da piccola cittadina e i dettagli che la amplificavano perfettamente.
Ora veniamo alle dolenti note...
A poco più di metà del libro c'è un plot twist inaspettato (di cui ovviamente non dirò nulla nel dettaglio) che mi è sembrato essere buttato lì a caso, senza che fosse ben contestualizzato e senza che se ne sentisse veramente la necessità.
Mi preme dire che questo è stato il mio primo libro di questa autrice ed è bene precisare che forse questo è il suo stile e che, sempre forse, mi ha perplessa solo perché non sono familiare con il suo modo di strutturare le storie, ma nonostante questo la perplessità rimane.
Quantomeno solo per quella situazione specifica.
Non posso dire altro perché sarebbe spoiler.
Detto questo, l'ho trovata una lettura carina da "sotto l'ombrellone". Se cercate qualcosa di breve, leggero e senza impegno, fa per voi.

PS si tratta del primo di una serie. Ogni libro però è un autoconclusivo.

Non ho dubbi! Questo è uno dei libri coccola che rimarranno impressi nella mia testa.
Una storia molto bella, veritiera anche se romanzata.
Ci troviamo davanti a delle difficoltà che in molti si possono ritrovare, sperando non tutte insieme come è accaduto alla protagonista.
Stella è una donna forte, autonoma ma con tanto bisogno d’amore anche se è circondata da cinque meravigliosi ragazzi, i suoi splendidi figli.
Una famiglia bellissima che ha saputo affrontare, con non poche difficoltà, le avversità che la vita gli ha posto davanti.
Certo come donna ha avuto una doppia batosta, che non voglio svelarvi in quanto vi rovinerei la lettura, ma ha saputo risollevarsi con l’aiuto silenzioso e costante di un personaggio alquanto insolito da vedere al suo fianco.
Jasper è un bancario che è approdato nel Minnesota dalla California. Questo personaggio mi è piaciuto moltissimo.
Un uomo con sani principi che ha saputo farsi spazio in questa famiglia con dolcezza e pazienza.
Meravigliosi i dettagli dei paesaggi, della vita giornaliera e delle tradizioni di quella cittadina e dei loro abitanti. Uno scorcio di vita che riempie il cuore di chi lo vive.
Questa storia mi è piaciuta molto perché dà un filo di speranza che dopo il buio c’è sempre la luce anche se non la si vede.
Un primo libro che ci ha aiutato a conoscere questa famiglia molto unita e forte, ogni uno con i propri caratteri che non vedo l’ora di conoscere singolarmente.
