A lot of effort was put into this book and you can really tell however I think the plot gets a little bit lost because of the translation. Sometimes I feel like the wrong word being used gave the text a completely different tone, meaning I wasn't able to tell which characters were having banter and which characters were threatening each other, I just really struggled to understand the last third or so of the book. I think it has some amazing quotes, and if it was reworked and translated properly by a few different people to ensure accuracy I think I'd enjoy it more.
There was a whole lot of nothing going on in the storyline to keep me engaged with the storyline. I got the gist of the "Carousel", and it's interpretation in the story. The only character I that gave me emotion is Lydia, and she suffered the most and wasn't a main character. By the end of the book I was like what's the point?
I felt like this was written by AI. It was difficult to follow. The only character i was invested in was a child and he rarely was in "scene". In sure some will like this, it's just not me.
I absolutely hate this book. Aside from the language problem (English definitely isn't her primary language) it is incredibly difficult to follow. Rambles on and on with random characters and no clue of how they relate. I may give up and not finish it.
