Amazing Tale

At first I was confused, but I think that is because Maebe was too. I really loved this book and recommend it highly.

MAEBE
Dzintra Sullivan

Maebe is a a tale of longing, discovery, and empowerment.

Sullivan wields her exceptional talent for making popular urban fantasy tropes her own. Shape shifters, fae, & vampires to name just a few found in this work.

I believe you will be happy to have picked this one up.

The cast of characters rounds out nicely with a pliant and dutiful wife, Maebe, complimented by her fiesty side kick, Theo, a superb selection of magical creatures and a big nasty that you love to hate, Maebe's husband.

The story is a fun ride as we watch Maebe grow from a meek mouse into something much more fierce, exactly what that is you will have to find in the pages.

In order to become that “something more” Maebe must overcome physical and emotional obstacles. She will question what she thought she knew about everything and everyone.

I absolutely adore how Dzintra tells a story. In this and her other works the character dynamics and dialogue are top tier work. The pace and flow make for serious page turning. Sharp wit, and perfectly timed jibes and one liners are a Dzintra trademark.

Her prose is utterly addictive.

If you open this book around bedtime you may lose some sleep, “Just a another few pages,” turns into more than you will realize very quickly.

The narrative of Maebe contains very real elements found in many abusive & controlling domestic relationships.

Sullivan doesn't pull many punches and you should be more than a bit contemplative when considering the behaviors penned into the narrative and the topic of domestic abuse overall.

Please be aware and be there.

What a fantastic read, full of ups and downs and unexpected turns! This author is a one click addition and a favourite of mine, she never fails to elicit emotional reactions from her audience, the reader can’t help but be swept up in the story. The characters are well developed and the storyline flows beautifully.
This story does have darker elements to it, and contains subjects of isolation, marital control and manipulation however the author keeps the story moving quickly so to not encourage the reader to dwell in the more darker aspects of novel, while still incorporating the authors ability to bring just the right amount of humour and levity that I have come to expect from this author.
I would recommend this book to fans of paranormal, urban fantasy and to those that enjoy a darker side to the fantasy genre.

This book had me hooked from the start, it's depth of characters and light and dark journey into Maebe' s torment was both sad and inspiring. I loved the relationship between Maebe and Wynter and his dedication to her heart. I also had a soft spot for Gomus as he experienced a pain similar to a pain I have experienced myself. Dzintra takes her readers on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and that's what i love about all her books, this one is a little darker than most, but i still, loved it. It was a one day read for me, and I recommend it highly for anyone who enjoys the genre
“One will come of light not dark, to free the one with a stony heart. One will come of dark not light, to kill the one who has night flight. For darkness to live, light must be broken. A new baby born, immortality awoken.” I'd give more but we only allowed 5 😁 ☆☆☆☆☆

This was my first time reading a book by Dzintra Sullivan and my first foray into the Urban Fantasy genre. Ms. Sullivan gave quite the introduction into the genre. Through the main character, Maebe, she deftly led the reader through real world problems such as emotional abuse, family conflict, and suppressed childhood memories while walking a seamless edge with the world of fantasy which follows Maebe wherever she goes. Without giving any spoilers, this is a full-fledged mystery, adventure and fantastical ride. It is also a journey of self-awareness and acceptance. The underlying themes are subtle but powerful. I am adding Ms. Sullivan to my list of favorite authors. Even if you have never read Urban Fantasy, this book is a must read!

This book is a treat!

I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book but it wasn’t what I got. It was so much better! Twists and lies, good and evil, surprises and shifters, and a prophecy. Oh what fun!
