Saint View Rebels #2

Rebel Obsession

Rate this book
Beaten, drugged, and tied, I sink beneath the surface.

Water invades my mouth. It seeps down my throat and fills my lungs until breathing becomes a desperate memory.

My only hope are the three men who know the evil of my attacker.

If I make it through this, we can’t fail again. A murderer needs to be found. Caleb needs to pay for what he did to me.

He has another woman held hostage, bound, and gagged.

But she’s not the only one.

There are others who will befall the same fate as me if Caleb and his friends aren’t stopped. With the police in his pocket, there’s no one to save them but us.

Drowning gives a girl a lot of time to think about her revenge.

Until it becomes obsession.

Rebel Obsession is an adult #whychoose romance, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This book contains romantic suspense/dark themes that may trigger some listeners. It contains a male/male storyline. It is the second book in an ongoing trilogy and cannot be listened to as a standalone. Book 1 of this series is Rebel Revenge.

Hold on tight, folks! There's a lot to dive into here.

Forgive me because my mind is everywhere and nowhere at the same time when it comes to this particular installment so if my review seems somewhat out of place or confusing you know why by brain just wasn’t there because so much was going on in this installment… some good, and some bad…….
Forgive me for making this one so long … One of the reasons why this review is so long is due to the fact that each and everyone seems to have POV

I found the first book enjoyable, but this one didn't quite hit the mark for me. Rebel's immaturity is striking, almost to the point of being childish, and her stubbornness comes off as more foolish than charming. She refuses to acknowledge anything unless it fits her narrative, even when it’s a critical truth she needs to understand for her own safety and that of others she claims to care about. While she's meant to be street smart, she often seems to lack common sense and relies too much on her bravado. I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with her absurd choices, like showering and going to bed before finally waking up hours later to reveal that there was a woman trapped in Caleb's basement. Come on, is this for real? She couldn't have shared that information after being rescued from the pool during the last installment

Vaughn and Kian truly caught me off guard in this installment as they navigated their past, and it filled my heart with joy to see them both advance their relationships with Rebel.

Vaughn is juggling quite a bit with his ex and his father's business partner. I do wish we could have seen more Back story on that front… but I suspect it will be a key element in the last book. I joyed seeing Vaughn starting to stand up for Rebel more and show his feeling for her. At times Vaughn was a hard character to read in this installment, but he's slowly Started working his way into my heart
I have to admit, when the author began to share details about the Vaughn 's ex-wife or wife, Whatever you want to call her…I instantly took a disliking to her. And when she appeared at Vaughn's mom's house, I was certain I couldn't stand her.

Fang remains my absolute favorite, no question about it. … I just love the man to pieces...
I felt his absence in this book as he focused on MC matters, and we only got brief snippets of him. While I can't really complain cuz those snippets were quite spicy, they just weren't enough to quench my thirst for him. His sweetness and gentleness with Rebel are so endearing, but he also has that strong, dominant side. When you think about it , It's rare for a man to be open to sharing his partner with others just to ensure her happiness.
I love how deeply he loves her, pouring his whole being into it…. I was absolutely thrilled when Rebel finally opened up about her feelings for him, and the icing on the cake was that she did it in front of everyone!

For a second, I felt like I might have to take on Rebel for Fang... In this instance, she truly redeemed herself in my opinion.

As for Kian, he’s still keeping too many things to himself, which is quite annoying. But On a positive note, I'm really happy that he appears to be warming up,… I can't shake the feeling that Kian might hurt the members in the group with his hidden truths. There's so much about him that remains a mystery, and I really hope he doesn't break Rebel and Vaughn’s Heart

Alright, let's dive into a couple of complaints, and my first one has to be about that wild cliffhanger... Additionally, it seems to me that this entire installment focused more on Revel's quest for revenge than uncovering the truth behind her mother’s ' death and Vaughn’s father’s - I believe this title is appropriate for this particular installment (Rebel Obsession)

Rebel often sabotages herself, landing in dire situations without considering the consequences, and then gets frustrated when things go wrong. She has this elaborate idea of revenge but lacks the knowledge and effectiveness to see it through, hindering others from dealing with the villains because she insists on being the one to do it. However, she struggles to devise a plan, fails to follow through, and misses opportunities. Her refusal to act promptly leads to others getting hurt, dragging the story on. Unfortunately, she's not alone in this behavior; Vaughn also withholds information, assuming he knows how others will react instead of letting them make informed choices to protect themselves.

In closing I’m somewhat invested at this point, so I'll continue the series. I like the group dynamics, but from what I can put together, this foursome is it appears that this group is quite similar to one from the author's other series, which I don't have the desire to go back to read

Oops, I nearly overlooked Caleb! I can't help but think about how much fun it would be to make him squirm for everything he's done, particularly to women

I nearly overlooked the road trip with Rebel, Vaughn, and Kian... I definitely felt some unsettling vibes from her dad and stepmom

Sorry again for making this one a bit lengthy! I'm off to read the last installment now.

Rebel Obsession is book two in the Saint View Rebels series by Elle Thorpe. Holy wow! This was another page turning, blood pressure raising, edge of your seat installment to this series. I hadn’t anticipated loving this trilogy so much. We have a home improvement project going on right now at my house and I can hardly concentrate! My mind is on these characters all-the-time!!!

The book starts and ends on crazy, mind blowing scenes. Our Rebel is getting so much stronger. Maybe due to the unwavering adoration of her men?! Her relationship with Fang has come so far. I have to say again that that man has my heart. His heart beats for one woman only, his Rebel. Her relationship with both Kian and Vaughn is growing stronger as well. Kian still has secrets that I am so curious about. And poor Vaughn. He has so much guilt regarding his dad. And so much chaos in his life. So many unknowns. So many people trying to pull his strings. There is still so much uncertainty between he and Kian and we finally learn more about their past.

So you get the picture. There are so many things going on in all of their lives, so much looming over all of their heads. But beneath it all, there is Caleb. A man whom it seems there is no limit to the depth of his evil. It seems to grow with every chapter.

So, I’m right off to the final book in the trilogy, Rebel Heart. I honestly don’t know how I’m going to be able to even participate in real life until I get to the end of this final book to see how everything works out. I have no idea what to expect. So, once again, off I go!

"I'd been given a second chance at getting it right. I wouldn't fail again."

I can't breathe.
I can't move.
I'm going to die.
I was convinced anyway.
Then I was saved and I would not take that lightly.
He already ruined my life once.
Now it's time for payback and I will burn the whole world down to get my revenge.

"He'd stolen my power. The only way of getting it back was making him hurt as much as I had. A bullet was too kind. Too simple and easy. Too painless. I wanted him to die in agony."

Rebel Kemp has been through enough shit. And most of that shit is because of the man who changed her life, and not in a good way. If there is one thing Rebel is sure of, it's that Caleb will get what is coming to him. If it's the last thing she does.

"I wouldn't stop. Not until I'd destroyed him the way he'd destroyed me."

Elle Thorpe just keeps releasing bangers after bangers. Each series just sucks me in and doesn't let me go.
The writing style, the storyline, the humour, the banter, the smut, everything everything everything. Love Love Love.

"Sorry. Was a little busy trying not to get murdered. Forgive me if my own survival was at the forefront of my mind. Incredibly selfish of me, I realize."

First up, we have to start with Rebel. If someone wanted me to point at the definition of "Badass" in the dictionary I would throw the book at their head and say "it's not even a question dumbass" and then Rebel would high five me (in this imaginary scenario we are definitely besties, her me and Bliss. No arguments accepted).
Rebel is out for revenge. She is out for blood. And we stan a woman who fights for her revenge. And again would let her run me over with her car with no objections thank you very much.

"Detective Richardson. Otherwise known as Detective Dickhead. I was thinking you'd forgotten all about me. But no, here you are, ready to ruin my day with your scowling presence. How lovely"

Next there's Fang. Our soft cuddly biker. He was in protective mode this book and I had no issues, no problems, no complaints. He just wanted Rebel to be happy. That's all he's ever wanted. And that was just so cute!!! He would kill for her legit. But he also always wants to make sure she's taken care of…

"I'm saying that for as long as I'm breathing, I'm always going to be here. But there's room for them too. If that's what you want."

"Spread your legs for him, Pix. Let him see what he's missing."

Then we have Kian. Kian is the golden retriever as always. He is the swiftie of the group and we stan him. We find out a little bit more about his connection to Rebel's mom (thank god for that I am telling you the sigh that I exhaled… phew) anyway, we also find out about his and Vaughn's relationship and all I want to do is give him a hug. But we also see more of his protective side. And it always comes out when Rebel is involved and also when Vaughn is involved. As well as another side…

"The nice guy finished last, Little Demon. I'm sick of being the nice guy."

"Keep your eyes on the road, Weston. I can't have you killing our girl back there."

"Not yet, Little Demon. Gotta get you ready for him."

And finally we have Vaughn. Step-bro Vaughn. Who is a little less assholish in this book. But we stan him anyway. He is doing everything he can to protect Rebel/Roach. And we also see his soft side for Kian and their past relationship. And he's not going to let anything stop him anymore from having Rebel… and maybe even Kian….

"Because she was mine. My girl. And if she was going to be a stubborn, pigheaded fool, then I was going to be the one standing behind her, backing her up making sure she was safe and taken care of while she did it."

"Good girl. Flip over and get on your knees."

"No shower. I want to know your panties are soaked with my cum."

Side note: Caleb and Brooke can go eat multiple dicks. I mean mostly Caleb because he is the definition of unironic "Mojo Dojo Casa House" use and is a total and utter dickhead with no remorse and just generally a bad person. And Brooke is a bitch so…. Do with that what you will

And this playlist was the bomb, I'm actually very proud of myself:

I'm losing interest and honestly this series has really shown me that Why Choose is not for me.
I'm gonna finish book 3 because I'm only interested in Vaughn and Kian at this point.
I don't care for Rebel or Fang at all.

This will most probably be the last Why Choose I try.

There is so much going on in this series. I feel like there is a lot of setup for another series. Maybe all the series did that and I just didn’t notice. Regardless, the relationships and action are still pumping and very entertaining so onward we go. Have to say that I’m loving Vaughn and Kians story best 💙💙

ETA: And a certain someone better get what’s coming to them. I can’t take another series with that evil Asshole 😂😂😩

not to give that twat waffle Caleb any more attention than his little puny dick ass deserves. But I would love to shove a fat barbed dildo up his assholio while he is shibari style tied up and danging from a tree. AND THAT IS ALL ILL SAY ABOUT THAT.
.
ELLE FUCKING THORPE, i love you - you know i do, but your ass need to be seriously reddened for that cliffhanger. Jesus woman. I went to read the next page and it said “the end….for now” i almost exploded. and not in the sexy way you know I like.

.
oh to be sharing a seedy motel bed with Kian and Vaughn. oh lordy have mercy… OH to have daddy Fang boss me and 2 other ridiculously sexy men around. OHHHHHHH to have all three obsessed over me. what the fuckkk am i doing wrong. I am literally such a victim. Alabama dont make em like Saint View thats for damn sure….
.
.
.
Roses are red,
Daddy Fang turns me on.
I want to be sandwiched,
between Kian and Vaughn.
.
.
also, I record level binged this book, so i deserve a pat on the back…or for someone to write a sexy reverse harem smut book with many mm scenes and name the FMC Mikayla… or Raquel.. im not fussy 😂

Eh, declining enjoyment

I liked the first book, but this one less so. Rebel is so incredibly immature to the point of just childishness and her brand of stubbornness isn't attractive it's just stupid. She won't listen to anything unless she wants to believe it even if it's a hard truth she needs to grasp for her own safety as well as the safety of people she supposedly cares about. Rebel is supposed to be so street smart but instead is all mouth and attitude and no brains and common sense. I'm getting fairly fed up with her beyond stupid, into idiotic decisions, like taking a shower and going to bed before finally getting up hours and hours later to tell people there was a woman locked in Caleb's basement. Seriously, you're joking, right? She couldn't have spit that out and let everybody know after they fished her out of the pool about the other emergency? Nope.

Rebel is her own worst enemy and puts herself in impossibly bad situations without thinking anything through and then gets pissed when bad things happen. She's built up the whole grand tortuous revenge notion but is too ignorant and ineffectual to actually carry it off and hampers anyone else eliminating the villains because she has to be the one to do it, yet can't figure out how to accomplish that, has no plan, doesn't seem capable of making or sticking to one, and repeatedly fails when she's got the opportunity. Because she refuses to eliminate the threat at the first opportunity people continually get seriously hurt, and the story drags on. Trouble is she's not the only character who does that kind of crap since Vaughn does it as well -- refusing to relay information because he assumes he knows how a person is going to react instead of allowing people to make informed decisions and have information they need to be aware to keep themselves safe. I've pretty much had enough and I won't be continuing, I don't care how the series ends. Just too much stupid going on.

Normally I like this author and series but she has butchered the FMC in this series. Rebel in past books was fierce and took no shit. She goes through something very traumatic yes but she isn't responding to trauma changes. She has a like personality transplant that makes her whiney and frustrating. There's also NO continuity of character even within the series. She is so traumatized from the assault she plans to never have sex again...then just does. With no mention, no hesitation, nothing. She is so traumatized from the pool that she is planning to never swim again. So THE FIRST TIME BACK IN THE POOL she decided to go under and just sits on the bottom "because its relaxing". You can't just say someone is traumatized if you never plan to actually write them traumatized. BLEH.

Er, excuse me Ms Thorpe! You’ve got me on the edge of my seat with these cliff hangers!

Rebel Obsession is the second book in the Saint View Rebels series. I absolutely love Elle Thorpes writing, I have enjoyed every single book I’ve read of hers, even reading some multiple times. I like Rebel more and more as the series progresses and her 3 men are literally to die for.

The audiobook is amazingly narrated in duel by Michelle Sparks, Troy Duran, Michael Gallagher and Gregory Salinas. The narration is chefs kiss. Each narrator seamlessly brings this addicting story to life. Just like with the first in the series, I couldn’t be happier.

Book: 4/5
Spice: 3.5/5
Narration: 5/5

Rebel & Her Guys

I am not okay after another insane cliffy… like how is Caleb still alive right now?!? And did Chaos survive? He surprised me and I kind of like him so now I need him to be okay so he can get a book or three. Okay so back to this group.. Rebel is still a fierce baddie as she figures out how to heal, grieve and build these relationships with the guys. She is so fierce and fiery even when just teasing and rubbing the guys any chance she can. I absolutely adore her.

Vaughn and Kian surprised me the most in this story while they tried to work through their past but my heart was so happy that they each moved three relationship with Rebel forward too. Vaughn has a lot happening in his world with his ex and his dad’s business partner. I do wish we saw more drama on that front but I have a sneaking suspicion that will be a major staple of the story in the final book. I loved that we saw him start to fight for Rebel more and that he loves her. He was a tough nut to crack in book 1 but he is making his way into my heart too.

Kian continues to hold out on us though which is frustrating. I am so glad that he seems to be coming around but I also feel like he is going to break my heart with some of his secrets. There is so much I don’t know so I’m hoping he won’t rip my heart out or Rebel and Vaughn’s. There was little breadcrumbs all throughout this book to send my imagination running wild but I’m eager to see how his storyline unfolds

Fang is still my favorite, hands down. I missed him this book while he dealt with MC business and only got little tidbits of him here and there. I mean O can’t complain too much cause they were spicy tidbits but still not enough to satiate my cravings for that man. He is so sweet and gentle with Rebel but also demanding and dominant too. I love how much and how he loves her with his whole soul.

Each guy and Rebel all have their own threads in the story that are woven in but there are so many loose ends and half starts to things in these two books. In true Elle fashion she has spun me all up and I will be dreaming of these four for weeks until their final book comes out. I also am not hating seeing Bliss and her guys again either and I hope they also are super involved in what happens next.

I'm really enjoying this trilogy - I adore Rebel and her group of guys - the aspects with Kara are really intriguing as well, along with the whole new aspect of Rebels' newfound family. I really hope that certain characters get what they deserve and I'm keen to see how this HEA will finally play out in the next and final book of this trio. Highly recommend.

OMG, OMG!!! I can’t believe these plot twists!!! I always scramble to try and figure out the plot and it’s always the opposite of my theories! That’s why a love Elle’s books so much! And this one was no different, the second book on the trilogy was as good as the first, it kept me hooked from the start and I could not put it down. I love Kian and Vaughn and ohhh I’m so curious about Kara and I felt such a vibe with her and Hayden, I hope there’s something coming for them too.

Anyway, I’m going straight to book 3 now because this cliffhanger was no joke!!!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved it! Would recommend, almost perfect and likely would reread.

THAT FREAKING ENDING! Elle you have an insane mind. I dont have a lot to say about this one but it was super good and I did smash through it. I really enjoyed seeing the relationships start to build and the spice increase. I feel like I read Elle more for the plot than the spice at this point?

I don't know what happened to this series. It was nowhere near as good as the previous one.
The rebel from Saint view psychos was a bad ass bitch.
The rebel in this series is a whiny, irritating and immature and doesn't listen when people give her damn good advice.

It's unreal how much I love all of these characters!!

“Fuck no. We talked about this before. I’m just saying it better now. I’ll be here. Always. You’ve owned my heart from the minute I met you and you’ll have it ’til the minute I die. There’s no one else for me. But even I can see something between you and Vaughn, and I think you’re kidding yourself if you think there’s only friendship between you and Kian.” He ducked his head and stared deep in my eyes. “I’m saying that for as long as I’m breathing, I’m always going to be here. But there’s room for them too. If that’s what you want. The life I lead… Fuck. We both know what it is. You might need them one day.”

I listened to the audiobook and it's absolutely incredible, the performance is flawless. On the other hand, this story is extremely engaging, I feel like the obsessed one was actually me. Piece of advice though, it's better to read this after the Trilogy Saint View Psychos, both stories are very much connected, and even though in these books you don't feel lost, you do get a lot of spoilers if you want to read the previous series afterwards.

Why Choose isn't for me, per se. It's fine, and it's hot. Don't get me wrong. But my brain can't wrap around truly loving multiple people in a romantic way. It was very interesting for me to read this series with that being a strong perspective, and that's one of the many reasons I enjoy reading. It's a great way to expand your understanding of ways that other people think and feel. There's a little bit of a plot, so it wasn't straight smut (which again, I can definitely enjoy).

It’s hard to believe that the FMC has such shit luck in every aspect of her life, practically since birth if you’d think about it, and not make a FMC sound like a martyr, but make it seem believable that she owns her damage… just a small bit of the author’s character/world developments that I’ve found impressive.

I’m invested!
