Great book for beginners. I always wanted to learn to draw but I have an analytical mind. Once I read through the basics and looked at the tutorials at the end of the book, I realized I can do this--and I did. I need more practice but who can't draw lines and shapes? I highly recommend this book!

The pandemic made me start drawing again but it was obvious that I needed a refresher on how to draw, learn what materials to buy, and obtain artist tips. This book was very clearly written by an artist who is passionate about sharing her craft with beginners and those needing some structure to re-learn skills and have exercises to prompt regular drawing sessions. Almost like having a personal drawing coach on call! Definitely worth buying.

I have taken art classes. This book is one awesome art class! It was easy to follow, kept my attention, was informative, and fun. The artist quotes were a nice addition. Don't pass up on this "art class".

A Solid Foundation for Budding Artists

I recently picked up "Drawing for Beginners" with the goal of brushing up on my rusty artistic skills. What struck me most about this book was its clear and approachable structure. The blurb mentions 19 tutorials, and the book delivers exactly that – a well-rounded collection of lessons that progressively build your skillset.

I particularly appreciated the focus on foundational techniques in the beginning. The lessons on holding a pencil, creating lines and shapes, and using light and shadow provided a strong base for tackling more complex subjects later on. The variety of tutorials, from still life objects to figures, kept things interesting, allowing me to explore different areas while still reinforcing core skills.

While the book promises to transform you into a "skilled artist," it manages expectations well. It's clear that these tutorials are a springboard, not a shortcut. The emphasis is on practice and enjoyment, which I found refreshing.

There were a few minor drawbacks. The numbering of the tutorials might be helpful for some, but overall, the logical progression of the lessons makes it easy to follow.

I’ve always wanted to draw for as long as I can remember, I’ve picked up a few books along my journey of wanting to Draw, but I’ve finally found the one for me.
I’ve been looking for a book that is easy to understand without getting overwhelmed with all the talk of stuff I just couldn’t understand. This book has got me so interested I went straight to an artist supplier to get what I needed.
I couldn’t wait to get home and get started. I automatically started drawing eyes, lips , ears and noses.
Now to put them in the right places and then I’m start drawing fruit.
I want to draw everything in this book.
I couldn’t recommend this book highly enough. Just do yourself a favour and go and get it for your collection, you won’t be disappointed and will get years of joy out of reading and drawing from this splendid book. It’s an absolute credit the the author.
