Not my favourite series. I did try and look up a free app for the game bunco and it turns out that one doesn’t exist. I found that the characters in this book waffled between acting like seniors and acting like teenagers. I had a hard time picturing any of them in my head. I did like Nadine - she came across as a red neck glamour queen (at least in my head). And Bill seems rather sweet. But I felt that all the others melted together and really had nothing special about them that made them stand out from the crowd. I also don’t particularly like when a cozy mystery gets all wrapped up in the last 10 pages. Somehow it makes them seem that much less realistic and sometimes a tad rushed.

I do like the sleuth, Kate McCall in this book. Kate has a marvelous sense of drama as she daydreams about being in a play, falling in love, side-bars of conversations with her two children, and eagerly plays a detective worthy of "CSI" television series.

The problem is, there really is a murder and her Bunco Babe friend is accused of being the murderer. They all saw Claudia shoot her new husband, but is she actually the murderer? Kate believes not, however, her sense of "Sins of Omission" gets Claudia arrested and off we go.

There are a few new neighbors in the neighborhood as well. Are they what they appear or???

This is a fun cozy and a gentle read. I do enjoy Kate's attitude towards life and would like to know her better...next book?

Another cozy mystery with the Bunco Babes rushing to the rescue when a friend is arrested for the murder of her no-good husband. Several promising alternative suspects that the sheriff naturally refuses to take seriously. Good ending--I had suspected the right person, but motive eluded me.

Glad I stumbled across this author. I'm enjoying this series quite a bit. Can pretty much keep the bunco gals straight as to who is who! (First book was a bit more challenging in that respect!) Kate and Bill and all her bunco friends are fun to read about. But I keep wondering if Kate has any friends who don't play bunco! And for a change I had the culprit pegged about half way through (although not all the details). Read and enjoy!

I didn't really like the characters very much, and a lot of the behaviour and dialogue felt like a cheap shot at the golden girls, but the story was decent enough. Not one I'd particularly recommend but I did at least finish it.

Finished #2. I liked it better than the first one. The killer came out of left field again, but you can guess the killer ahead of time if you pay close attention.

Book two is even funnier than the first. I have really come to enjoy Kate and her band of Bunco Babes.
In book two the friends welcome home their friend who had eloped to Las Vegas with a man she met on the internet. He is an actor and is convinced he has a great play for the Babes that will put his name in the spotlight. All is not as is appears when the friends discover that the new bridegroom is a con artist. Enter several new characters who are part of his past after he is shot during a rehearsal of his play. the shooter is none other that his new wife! It must be an accident and Kate is out to prove it.
There is romance for Kate and conversations and warnings from her children which remind me of my own offspring. An adventure and lots of laughs!

Yes yes, these people are my age. So what? I'm getting tired of feisty "seniors" who are pretty much all of a type -- nosy busybody types. And they're all pretty much wasps, too. Boring. And the game called Bunco sounds really boring, too.

Managed to read about 50 pages, heaved a big sigh, read the last chapter, closed the book.

This is a cute cozy mystery and the story itself is sound. My problem is with the cliché-ridden dialogue. The characters are a bit stereotypical for me, but I still enjoyed the story. Fun little read.
