The nightmares may free her…but destroy the man she loves.

Enjoy another Gothic Style Regency from Hannah Linder.

Eliza Ellis has stayed hidden in Balfour Forest for as long as she can remember. Perhaps her only friends are the trees, or her little dog, or her story-telling father called Captain. But at least she is safe from the cruel world outside, a world Captain has warned her against and protected her from.

That is, until a handsome stranger named Felton Northwood invades her quiet forest and steals her away. Why does he tell such lies? Why does he insist that her name is Miss Eliza Gillingham, daughter of a viscount, who disappeared fourteen years ago after the murder of her own mother? A murder Eliza is said to have witnessed.

When Felton returns Eliza to Monbury Manor and reunites her with a man who is told to be her father, all she remembers are the strange nightmares that have plagued her since childhood. Why have they suddenly grown worse? Are the answers hidden inside her own mind?

As danger mounts and lethal attempts are made on her life, Eliza and Felton must work together to uncover the identity of a killer who has stayed silent for fourteen years. When she finally uncovers the horrendous memories trapped in her mind, will divulging the truth cost her the man she loves—and both of their lives?

Hannah Linder has a way of putting the reader squarely her incredible settings. I could smell, feel, and taste every sensation in this outstanding novel. The Girl from the Hidden Forest was unique and compelling in every way, and I loved Eliza's journey from forest girl to the daughter of a viscount. Her emotions along that rough journey were realistic and painful as was Felton's strong desire to clear his family name. With their opposing goals, it took every page to resolve the conflict. The satisfying ending had all the right notes, and readers who love Regency romance will eat this up.

“Heaven knew that she had been given the choice of air or his lips, she would have suffocated in such a kiss. She would have lived and died in that moment and regretted nothing.”

My first gothic-style Regency and my first book by Hannah Linder will be memorable!

I picked it up while I was waiting on the deck after dinner for the northern lights to appear last night and, apart from putting it down to try and capture the magical sky around 11pm, I binge-read it in one sitting! I’m still living and breathing this captivating tale the next morning…

Interested readers deserve to go into this one blind, so I’ll try to keep as general as I can while still trying to convince them to read this amazing tale.

Linder’s setting of the Balfour Forest in Northumberland isn’t just a backdrop; it’s as if it’s a character. It evokes feelings of isolation, mystery, and foreboding. The shadowy, hidden forest may have once been a place of solitude for Eliza Ellis, but it doesn’t take Linder long to weave a fantastic sense of foreboding and I was soon aware of Eliza’s intuitive sense that something wasn’t quite right. At this point, the mystery took the reins and I knew I was in for the long haul.

Linder crafted complex characters with complex backstories full of mystery. Her story is driven by dark secrets, haunting memories, and internal struggles. Fear and suspense are center stage and showcase the themes of isolation and loneliness until the key driving theme of redemption steals the show. Linder has embraced melancholy and tragedy and woven it together with a mysterious antagonist and a haunted protagonist…and a courageous beagle named Merrylad.

The faith and romance elements were light and sweet and blended well with the mystery. I think it was (1) the unique retelling of a familiar plot that captured my attention (a lonely girl who meets a stranger who upends everything she believed to be true about her past and present) and (2) the message that experiences are the best teachers. Eliza thought she was lonely in her beautiful forest, but realized that she didn’t really understand that she could be lonely surrounded by people.

I was gifted this copy by Barbour Publishing and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

I think this might be my favorite (or my second favorite) of the author's books yet. The Girl from the Hidden Forest was deliciously gothic, full of I'm-on-the-edge-of-my-seat plot twists, and a heartwarming romance. Initially, I felt the story jumped in too quickly, so it was hard to connect with the MCs; however, a few chapters in, I was invested. The author has a writing style that draws you in and holds your attention. I loved the characters, the storyline, and the themes--so well done!

5+ stars (6/10 hearts). To be honest, it was the cover (and maybe the title) that drew me into this book. The synopsis had me a little worried. But when I considered how much I’d enjoyed most of Hannah Linder’s works so far, I decided to give this one a shot—and am I ever glad I did! It might be my favourite yet.

For some reason, the book really clicked with me. I love the forest and the beautiful, mysterious mansion, and how almost everything takes place in these two settings. I love the writing style—Eliza’s narration specifically. It was so much sweeter than I expected! Still Gothic and mysterious, but more light and soft. Really, I think Eliza was my favourite thing in the book. She was so innocent and pitiful and strong, and her love for nature + her fanciful imagination was awesome. Felton was pretty epic too—the perfect opposite to Eliza, and with such a splendid character arc. I liked the Captain, even if he never appeared, and the Earl, too. And Felton’s parents were very interesting to think over. Also, the villain was terrifying and awful—but not TOO much—just short of the over-intense line for me!

And the plot was great! The Christian theme is pretty subtle, but I love the message about names and being worthy in your own right. Felton & Eliza’s romance was the sweetest, cutest thing—specially once he buckled down and admitted it, haha—and I loved how it developed from such a deep friendship and protectiveness. Everything was revealed so slowly, and you were interested in the past AND the present at the same time. I LOVE how Eliza’s memories + PTSD was developed and explained. The story was more mystery than suspense, I think, but both sides were well done. I couldn’t put the book down—read until eleven P.M. and I was too tired to continue, and picked it up first thing when I awoke! Things were very twisted and NOT what I expected (but so cool!). It was all rather different from Hannah Linder’s other books, especially as far as the climax goes, which helped it stand out more.

I’m so glad I read this. <3 It was just so SATISFYING!! The perfect blend of light and dark.

Content: Hint that a girl might be as*aulted by the villain; a side character is revealed to have frequently been a*used by a warden; a minor widowed character is caught being with another man to earn her + her children’s living; mentions of drinking; language—de*il, bl**dy, etc; 1-2 kisses; mention that dead side characters had been having an affair (false); on-screen violence involving knives and blood—personally bothered me because of the coldness and deliberateness of the villain. Much less content than I expected, overall!

A Favourite Quote: How long had he been carrying a burden that should have belonged to all of them? That did belong to all of them? Now that a new burden was upon them, should he not trust his parents were strong enough to shoulder the weight?
A Favourite Beautiful Quote: How many times had she snuck out in the middle of the night, crept to the stream without candle, and sat on the Lady’s Throne to watch the moonlight on the water? The blue light flickers were moon tears, she used to pretend. She’d read in books that the moon was a man, but she couldn’t believe it was so. Anything so lovely must have been a woman. A sad, lonely woman in a sphere of blackness, who shed light tears onto the earth because not even the stars would befriend her.
A Favourite Humorous Quote: “Ellis, indeed. Now that seems a bit familiar. Sort of ugly thing, was he, with missing teeth? No, no, that would be my wife’s father.”

What a captivating novel! The Girl from the Hidden Forest kept me enthralled from the first page to the last. Hannah Linder’s expertly woven romantic suspense twisted and flipped all my expectations until the heartily satisfying conclusion. The conflict, motivations, and character growth displayed in this story were all believable and beautifully drawn. I can’t wait to read what this author writes next.

“If you could forget such a thing, Eliza, I shall not be the one to ask you to remember it.”

“The Girl from the Hidden Forest” is a Christian, historical fiction novel in a gothic setting of murder and mystery. Years ago, Lady Gillingham was pushed out a window and her daughter, Eliza Gillingham, kidnapped as a witness to the brutal murder. For years Lord Gillingham has searched for his missing daughter to no avail, only to find her living in the woods with a disgraced Captain Ellis.

At least that’s what Felton Northwood tells Eliza Ellis on the night he kidnapped her from her home in the Balfour Forest. Suddenly Eliza is thrust into a world her Captain warned her about. A world where cruelty lay beneath sweet smiles and elaborate balls but the world of the rich is not the main danger to her. For someone is trying to kill her before she uncovers the horrendous memories trapped in her mind of that fateful night.

You all know I’m a Hannah Linder fangirl and this was another amazing read from her. Her talent is in atmosphere-setting and this had my nerves on edge. The relationship between Eliza and Felton was cute (she really had a thing for him bossing her around. lol girl.) but the best part for me was the relationship between Felton and Lord Gillingham. Friendships between people in different stages of life are the most heartwarming stories.

The Girl from the Hidden Forest grips you from the very beginning with its page-turning, adrenaline-pumping excitement that lasts throughout the entire story. The plot twist keeps you hooked, urging you to flip through the pages to uncover its secrets.

However, as the narrative progresses, the lack of genuine, sincere Christian content becomes apparent. The characters, though diverse and plentiful, miss the mark when it comes to portraying faith in a meaningful way. To me, the sparse mentions of God feel like fleeting afterthoughts, leaving much to be desired in terms of a deeper exploration of the characters' Christian beliefs and struggles.

The romance between the characters, while undeniably sweet, adds a heartwarming touch to the narrative. Their love story unfolds with genuine tenderness, creating moments that are sure to tug at the heartstrings. The hero, in particular, stands out as a beacon of courage and integrity, embodying the best of Christian values. As the plot twists and turns, the romance remains a steady and heartening element, adding depth to the adventure and mystery.

The story's darker and edgier tone, with its elements of evil, adds a unique twist to the traditional Regency romance. However, this aspect might not appeal to all readers, as it diverges significantly from the usual light-hearted fare of the genre.

The Girl from the Hidden Forest excels in its ability to keep you on the edge of your seat with its thrilling mystery and romance. Yet, for those looking for a more sincere exploration of Christian themes and character development, it may leave something to be desired. The book's darker tone, while intriguing, might not be to everyone's taste.

This was my first book by Hannah Linder and I will definitely be reading more of her stuff in the future. Hannah’s writing style is absolutely beautiful. In particular, I loved the way she described the character’s emotions, as well as the way she described scenery. I also enjoyed the mystery at the center of this novel, which was surprising to me due to the fact that I tend not to be a fan of mysteries or thrillers that are set in the past. I also didn’t predict the plot twist, which is always a plus. I did struggle with connecting to certain characters at times, particularly Felton. I’m not 100% sure what it was about him that got on my nerves, but there were multiple occasions, throughout the entirety of the novel, where I REALLY disliked him. With that being said, he did begin to grow on me by the end and I’m ultimately really happy with the story as a whole.

I'm a forever fan of Hannah Linder's writing. She always pulls me straight in and I just love the gothic regency vibes. I could not put this book down and read it in less than 24 hours. My heart ached for both Felton and Eliza and everything they'd been through.

If you love edge-of-your-seat mystery and suspense, sweet but angsty romance, and gothic historical fiction, you'll love this book (and any other by this author).

Christian historical

This was alright. Not bad, but not great…🤷🏼‍♀️

The father-figure of young, woman who lives in the woods has gone missing. Then, she herself is kidnapped by someone who claims to be bringing her to her ‘real’ father. Secrets are revealed, plots are uncovered and there is a lot of typical medieval-type adventure.

I was not engaged at any point in the story, I just wanted to finish so I could add it to my read count… 🫣

For those sensitive to sexual assault or drug use, there is some of this content in here….

The Girl From The Hidden Forest is a Regency Era romantic mystery that has a gothic feel to it. I was enraptured from page one. My heart was in my throat many times as I turned the pages. I had no idea who the villain was and was quite surprised when it was revealed. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who loves to read historical fiction during the Regency Era.

I don’t exactly know where to begin, so I’m just gonna start by saying to those who are worried, the dog makes it to end; he’s fine.

I was looking forward to this book. I love Hannah Linders other three books, gave them 5 stars. And I’m not trying to bash her or this book, but I have to give my honest opinion.

I went through most of this book thinking it would be three stars, which is not bad. I liked the mystery aspect; I found it interesting. I did not like the main characters or the idea of their romance though.

It’s not fault of Eliza’s that I couldn’t connect with her, because she didn’t even know who she was, so how could I get a grasp on her personality? Besides the fact she didn’t have one. 😬 She liked stories and came up with imaginings in her head, which was really her only trait and it made her seem young.

I did not like Felton at all. He had a horrible personality in my opinion. Everything was about him, or for his own good and making him feel better about himself. But pal, if you want to feel better about yourself, maybe don’t use your fists every five seconds. Hurting someone is not gonna make you feel good about yourself.

I’m also not in love with the whole she’s super sheltered and been living in an isolated situation all her life but falls for the first man she comes into contact with trope. Gives me the ick a little bit, not gonna lie.

And Bowels pov? Completely unnecessary. I’m not one to complain about having a villains pov, but he was AWFUL!! Made me so made. He’s the reason I skipped the last 35 pages. Made me sick every time his pov would show up.

In the end, I do not like this book. Probably won’t keep it. It made me mad, by the end. It was also like super dark and gory for some reason…which I don’t normally complain about, but it just seemed unnecessary here.

Such a wonderful story! I loved the characters and the plot. I couldn't get enough of the mystery and our girl Eliza. I loved the side characters as well. I did kind of half guess who did it, but I didn't know the full story. The writing was great and I loved getting to know these characters so much.

When I’m in the mood for a thrilling mystery with all the Gothic Regency vibes and a hefty dose of sweet romance, Hannah Linder is always my first choice!

I read through Eliza & Felton’s story in a day because I. could. not. put. it. down. It was intense and riveting and had me on the edge of my seat needing answers!

Hannah always gets points for gorgeous covers that draw you in and a plot that continues that journey. The twists and thrills are what I expect from her, but blew me away at the same time.

The main characters (who were lovely) and the immersive plot aside, my favourite parts were dear little Merrylad the Beagle and the friendship between Lord Gillingham & Felton. Both of these warmed my heart so much!

All around, a chilling delight that will leave you breathless with a smile on your face!

Reread July 5-6, 2025

Okay, hmm, where to begin? This book was very interesting and kept me hooked from the beginning. Eliza was very childish and immature which makes sense for what she had been through. It took me a bit to like her. Her father was amazing and a wonderful father! I wanted to give him a big hug. Felton, well, I didn’t really like him. His temper was out of control and he constantly was fighting and beating people up. He would be dead in reality and so would Eliza. The bad guy was downright evil and sick! The things he wanted to do to Eliza was disgusting! The violence in this book was more than usual. My stomach was roiling a bit. It was too much especially in a Christian book. I do still like when Felton teaches her how to dance and when he takes her to the beach. So yeah, my thoughts have changed a bit from the first time I read it. This is probably my least favorite of Hannah Linder’s, coming in close to Garden of the Midnights.

Quotes I liked:

🐶 “He was the one who had danced with her in the library and promised to protect her and grasped her hands only one day ago.”

🐶 “He was no enemy, this man, no matter how different their sides and hopes. No, Felton Northwood was her friend. Her first friend.”

🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

The summary on the back intrigued me instantly! A story of a mystery with a young woman’s memory that holds the all the answers. A son determined to clear his father’s name. I always devour Hannah Linder’s books and this one was no different. This was an interesting book and reminded me a bit of Rapunzel. Felton, well, he likes to fight…a lot. He was a rough guy. I admit I didn’t like Felton or Eliza at first. He was rude and nasty. But they both definitely grew on me! I did like how they played as children. That was a lovely thought! Why did they have to use the word bloody so much? It was a bit excessive. The mystery is what spurned me on. I loved seeing Felton teaching Eliza how to dance for the first time. I loved when he took her to the beach! So beautiful and perfect! This book had so many twists and turns! Wow! I really enjoyed seeing Felton and Eliza grow and fall in love! I didn’t like that Felton allowed Penelope to kiss him when he was in love with Eliza. Like hello? Hannah Linder’s books always have my mouth drop open more than once. She is always surprises me! I do have to say her characters have survived an awful lot. I do wish her descriptions would be better at times such as describing her lips as moist, pink, kissable…like um, what? And Felton was just stupid towards the end…forgive her already! I admit I was disappointed in who the bad guy was in the ending. It really took away from the story even though I was surprised. The bad guy was sick and evil. 🤢 Eliza survived a LOT, my goodness! Hannah Linder’s books are dark at times, I do admit. But nonetheless, this was an action packed, suspense filled, romance enveloped and faith inspired novel!

Wow! This was my first Hannah Linder novel, and it will not be my last. Hannah is a gifted writer whose words are brilliantly captivating and moving.

From the beginning, I discovered myself completely enraptured and whisked away into a world of regency, romance, mystery, and suspense. Into a world where love and hope grow amidst deep fear and betrayal. Where walls of pride crumble, ambitions rise, and friendships withstand the most painful accusations. Where truth is both pursued and protected, all-consuming and unraveling. And where evil lurks in the shadows and rains down terror but does not shatter the resolve of those who call upon the Lord.

This was a hauntingly beautiful tale that I did not want to put down.

This is my first book by Hannah Linder and I was captivated by the intense gothic regency vibe.

Eliza has happily lived in the forest for as long as she can remember and it’s all she knows, until handsome Felton finds her and “rescues” her from it. A world of danger, intrigue, “who dun it” mysteries and attempts on Eliza’s life result from this deliverance, and a beautiful, dramatic, and heart-aching story unfolds.

I was amazed at the vivid descriptions and while this story felt a little darker, I was completely fascinated and intrigued from start to finish with all the twists and turns. I appreciated the Christian elements and felt they really solidified the nature of these dimensional characters.

There is a lot of drama and trauma, and these times are confusing to Eliza, but Linder does a wonderful job of expressing the villainous aspects, as well as the heroic ones, in ways that felt real and raw.

Content: kidnapping, opium use, mistreating family, Christian elements (prayers/thoughts), mild romance, murder/death/suicide/abuse

First, can we just pause a minute and admire this gorgeous cover? So pretty and ethereal! ✨

Eliza Gillingham lives in the forest, wild and free. Life is wonderful living among the trees, with books aplenty, towering trees to talk to and sparkling rivers to frolic in.

However, Eliza’s idyllic world is shattered when she is taken away by a mysterious man who informs her the life she has been living is a lie— and she must return immediately to her real father. Eliza has no memory of anything beyond the forest and longs to go “home”. However, Eliza is forced to piece together shadowy memories and dark nightmares to discover who she really is and solve a murder mystery that she quite possibly witnessed so many years ago.

This was an amazing story. I couldn’t put it down. Hannah Linder has created a haunting and beautifully atmospheric tale that immediately swept me into a dark and misty land. A land that held long, locked away secrets and where danger lurked around every corner. And who to trust? With so many complex and mysterious characters, this story was filled to the brim with suspense and an eerie foreboding. I felt Eliza’s anguish and unease as she was thrust into society, not knowing who to trust. I loved the friendship she made with her disfigured servant girl. The romance is slower burn but once it takes off it is sweet and very tender. This story is action packed and will keep you guessing until the last few pages!

Content: closed door, no language. Kidnappings, mention of murder and suicide, opium addiction, descriptive beatings/violence. Loss of loved ones.

This is an intriguing story about Eliza growing up with a captain in the forest, isolated from the world. Her world is suddenly turned upside down when her worst nightmares come true and she's kidnapped. Her captor returns her to her father, though she only has a distant memory of him. They were warned returning her would bring danger, and it does.

There are a lot of twists and turns in this story surrounding the mystery of her mother's death, and you're kept guessing until the surprising end.

I struggled with the captor turned friend. Felton's selfish ambitions to clear his family name drive him to make hasty, desperate choices and thankfully he eventually sees the folly in how he's treated her to meet his own ends. I've enjoyed this author's writing and will gladly pick up another.

Oh. my. goodness!! This book was brilliant!

I've never been so surprised by a book before and I audibly gasped more times than I care to admit. The plot twists were absolutely...insane, but in the best way possible. I love a good murder mystery and Hannah delivered!!

I related to Eliza so much! I loved how she was always using her imagination or thinking about the things she would pretend as a child. I don't think I've ever read a character quite like her and I loved every second of it since I was that child. I was always in my head, pretending in ways very similar to Eliza.

Felton...dearest Felton-I loved him. His protectiveness and longing to right the wrongs of his family made me smile from time to time even if he was bitter and angry. But I mean, I couldn't blame him! And as someone who's often struggled with bitterness and anger, I related quite well. But I think my favorite thing about him was how the reasons he told himself he couldn't-more like shouldn't-be with Eliza were the very things that drew him to her. I loved how sweet their love story was and how Eliza was so innocent that when she started to fall in love, she couldn't quite comprehend what was happening, yet once it clicked *sappy sigh*.

I loved this book so much and am positive that it's my favorite Hannah Linder masterpiece!!

If you love a good gritty and dark, yet hope filled Regency murder mystery, then The Girl from the Hidden Forest is right up your alley!

I read this book three nights in a row right right before bed, which could have been dangerous. I KNOW!

It kept my adrenaline pumping to see what was coming next, but then knocked me out emotionally drained and exhausted just like our two main characters. The ups and downs. The highs and lows. Just. Kept. Coming.

To have the kind of sweetness and naivety of our Eliza was precious to behold. That up against the jaded nature of Felton, was a whirlwind to see come together. The author gave them a beautiful union bringing their strengths together and their need for each other and God to the forefront.

About halfway through the book, I got to thinking, 'This thing could be wrapping up nicely right about now,' but alas, no.... the author had so much more story and many more layers to unwrap.

There was a REAL mystery. An interesting, and mouth agape, hearty mystery to unravel. It was layered and painful in many ways.

My only (pause for dramatic effect), nit-picky critique of this book, is that it was quite violent at times with multiple injuries to our hero and heroine, multiple times. I'm not exactly sure how long the story lasts (maybe 3 months max), but I don't think the bruises, scars and pain could have healed quickly enough from one altercation to the next. Ouch.

After reading Hannah’s debut, Beneath His Silence, and absolutely loving it, I knew I’d have to read more. Unfortunately, I didn’t love this one as much as her first.

What didn’t work for me:

~ I just didn’t connect with our main characters. Eliza is what I’d call a mid heroine. I don’t dislike her, but I also don’t love her either. She’s just fine. Also, I felt that she warmed entirely too quickly to a man who had literally kidnapped her for his own selfish purposes.

~ Speaking of Felton. He was very annoying for like 70% of the book. Selfish and entitled. He does get better toward the end, but I want to swoon over my heros, not shake them.

~ The faith elements were sorely lacking. I guess we’re supposed to assume characters are believers because they mutter two sentence prayers when they’re in trouble. I’m not exaggerating that’s literally all the Christian faith content we get in this book. Unless you count them going to one church service and a character having a Bible. I am just really disappointed that books are being marketed as Christian for doing the absolute bare minimum. Sometimes it seems like authors are afraid to go deep, or even put the name of Jesus in their writing. And I know from reading Hannah's first book that she has done better in this department, so it was just really disappointing to see the lack here.

~ Compared to how her debut had me in a chokehold from the very beginning and did not let go until the last page, this was slow. I didn’t really get invested until probably the halfway point.

What I loved:

~ Despite not loving the MCs, I did, however, quite like their domineering+docile dynamic. Felton was quite the commanding lover, but Eliza just followed her man because she trusted him and felt secure in his leadership. It kind of reminded me of January and from Love and a Little White Lie. I don’t know, I just like when a loving man can tell his woman to do something without her turning into a whining, fifth wave feminist.

~ The Who of the who done it had my jaw on the floor do you hear me!!?! Maybe I’m just not bright, but I was shooketh to my very core when it got revealed.

~ The bad guy is pure evil you guys. I appreciate a totally depraved villain you love to hate. He was definitely, for lack of a better word, the most interesting character.

While this isn’t Hannah’s best, I am still eager to continue devouring her stories because they are the good kind of addicting.

Thanks so much to Barbour Publishing for providing a e-copy to read and honestly review ^_^ All thoughts are my own.

Hannah Linder, my absolute favourite Gothic Regency romance author, delivers a new and absolutely brilliant novel, "The Girl from the Hidden Forest".
The story follows Eliza Ellis, who has been hidden away in Balfour Forest by her father, Captain, to protect her from a cruel world. Her secluded life is disrupted when Felton Northwood finds her and insists she is Eliza Gillingham, a viscount's daughter who vanished fourteen years ago after witnessing her mother's murder. As Eliza grapples with returning to a life she doesn't remember and dangerous attempts on her life, she and Felton work to uncover a long-silent killer's identity.
I read all of Miss Linder's published works and I can say that this one has the most suspenseful plot and surprising twists. The author gets better and better at this with every book she publishes.
There is that one thing I love in all of her books and that is the atmosphere she creates. Something that reminds me of Charlotte Bronte's writing, but with more romance and faith elements. I deeply enjoyed Eliza's character development, seeing how she embraced her new life and identity. As for Felton, I just love how determined he was to find the truth and protect his family at all costs. The romance between them was so sweet *heart eyes* and well-developed, adding the perfect emotional depth to the story.
Until the next Linder masterpiece, enjoy "The Girl from the Hidden Forest"!

The Girl from the Hidden Forest by Hannah Linder has allll the feels! Swoon worthy romance, plenty of mystery and suspense, and all those wonderful regency vibes. It’s like Pride & Prejudice turns murder mystery and I love it!

There is so much going on in this book! To tell you the truth, it wasn’t until I was about three-quarters of the way done that I was certain who did it. Hannah did a fabulous job crafting this story! If you haven’t read it yet, what are you waiting for??

Romantic suspense lovers are sure to love this! If you enjoy books by authors such as Abigail Wilson, Elizabeth Camden, or Julie Klassen, you should definitely pick yourself up a copy of The Girl from the Hidden Forest!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

What a delightfully gothic read! I finished The Girl From the Hidden Forest in two sittings. Wow. I loved this one!
I was drawn into this story from the first page and kept completely captivated until the last page. I was reading as quickly as I possibly could, trying to solve the mystery. The characters were interesting and fun to follow. The plot was intriguing. There were so many twists and turns tucked away in these pages. The constant suspense and danger kept me at the edge of my seat the entire time.
I am so excited to read more by this author!

I got to be honest I was confused for a good portion of the first 25% of this one. I’m thinking it was just my personal issue but I could be wrong. Anyway once I figured out what was happening it got better. There is a great gothic romance feel to this story as with other books by this author. And the mystery surrounding what happened to Eliza’s mother was really interesting. I liked both Eliza and Felton but didn’t really feel connected to them that well. I liked the dog Merrylad. There was a light Christian message as well! Overall I thought it was good, but wished it was better. Again, could be my own confusion coming into play.

Oh dear, this book was very problematic. Especially Felton. He had anger management issues and was very controlling, which didn't matter because Eliza feels safest when being controlled! She seriously asks him to TELL her what to do and not to ask her on multiple occasions. The plot was somewhat interesting, but all of the characters were very one-dimensional and unbelievable.

It's official--every book that Hannah writes is better than the one before!!! The Girl from the Hidden Forest is Hannah's most page-turning book yet, showcasing her powers of not only swoon-worthy Regency romance but also gripping psychological suspense. I literally could not put this book down!
