Easily one of the best books I’ve read this year! I am so thankful for the opportunity to receive this ARC as it pulled me out of my reading slump and gave me another favorite book to recommend! I cannot wait for the next one!

Sage & Adeline friendship is everything, I love that the main focus of this book was the girls developing friendship, which came before any romance. But the romance creates enough tension to keep you hooked. And the boys themselves 🔥🥵
I absolutely adored how all the secrets were rolled out throughout this story.
The world building was amazing and I loved all the different plots happening throughout the book however the Authors wrote it so perfectly it was not difficult to follow at all.
The cliffhanger though?? Why??😩 When's book 2 out?😂😂

I loved everything about this one. Dark academia, magic, secrets, friends, family, lovers. Adeline, Sage, Theo, and Cillian will be living rent-free in my head for a while!
I loved the way secrets were rolled out and revealed throughout the entire book. It was surprising yet expected in the best way! I liked that the POV was Sage and Adeline, and not one of them and one of the boys. It was a nice change from what's out there right now. And although I enjoy some spice, the slow burn was worth it in this one.
I was invested not only in the characters the authors created but in what was going on in their world as well. They did a great job of setting the bigger picture and integrating everything else into it to fit nicely.
The duality of some of the characters was striking and really well done, and I felt like people can relate to that a lot - having one version of yourself for some people and another real version for those who are close. The characters were relatable and could easily be anyone in our lives.

Ahh I loved this book! This was my first ARC and it was such a good one! I loved the characters in the book, especially the two main characters. I enjoyed seeing how their friendship grew throughout the story. An unlikely pair that becomes best friends! There was good mystery, slow burn romance, magic,secrets….just a really fun story that had me staying up late to read one more chapter! And the ending, OMG!!! I’m gonna need the next book asap! Thanks to the authors for the chance to read this book early!

I have a few remarks about this book, I thought this was gonna be a great book because of the 50 people who gave a rating they were all so loving about this book. So it was quite a disappointment that this book was mediocre at best. The tropes were supposed to be enemies to lovers and fake dating let me tell you this was not the case. This were just stupid teenagers being stupid, nothing more. I think I have never cringed as much as I did with this book. This book was unnecessarily long, but it was fast paced which is the only good thing I can say about this

I had the amazing pleasure of ARC reading this amazing book. 5/5 no doubt about it. I’ve been in quite the book slump and this right here pulled me out of it… witches and magic along with my favorite, fake dating!! Loved everything about this book.. highly recommended.. I will be thinking about this one for awhile!😄

Ughhh this was soooo good! I felt like I was IN this book. Hanging out with sage and Adeline, doing magic, falling in love. The story caught my attention instantly and kept it. Can’t wait for book ✌🏼!

I'll start by saying that transcribing all the emotions I feel about this book will be difficult, but I will try (and I will try to do a review also presenting objective elements so that you can better choose whether this book is for you or not). We see Adeline and Sage's friendship born and develop throughout the book, reaching the last pages where the reader will also feel that "something more", so involved in this wonderful friendship. Adeline, immediately introduced as Ice Queen, is the character I preferred the most. I deeply loved her. She has magnificent growth over the course of the book, primarily thanks to Sage's closeness, but also because of all the work she does on herself. Sage, on the other hand, gradually discovers herself and faces her demons supported by all her precious friends. This moved me a lot.
This book is literally perfect: we have evocative, engaging and immersive dark academia settings; the fantasy is handled in a masterly way, with attention to details, making you completely immersed. I appreciated the various relationships between the characters, like every time Adeline was with Cillian and felt “at home”, or Theo's unconditional love and support for her sister Sage, and of course Sage and Adeline's friendship. I find this book intriguing and moving. The ending, which I still haven't stopped thinking about, is unexpected. Read this book to discover a new world: you will not be disappointed.

This is an ARC Review
I absolutely loved this book!!! I loved how different the POV are! I love the contrast and the education they put in this book. I got to say it’s up there with Vampire Academy and House of Night books!! I love how Sage falls for Cillian (Adeline’s closest thing to a sibling)and how Adeline falls for sages twin brother Theo. The sexual tension between Adeline and Theo is ugh and her saying Daddy and Sir like ummm Ladies I need some dark smutt in book two between them 🔥 sage and Cillian is bit more complicated because she’s a seer and her emotions triggers visions. But I could not get enough. Adeline is known as an ice queen in the beginning but man oh man the character development for her is the amazing as she becomes friends with Sage. Not just friends but best friends! I literally can’t wait to see what these characters bring to the table in the next few books. I hope this is a lengthy series because I would not complain one bit. I can’t wait to see the 4 mains characters and there development because I can tell you they are gonna be better in the next book maybe a another level. I am amazed at what I just read and honestly I can make this lengthy. But check it out! Happy Reading 📖

I applied to be an arc reader because the blurb read as it being a dark Sabrina the teenage witch meets The Craft meets Harry Potter. What I read was that and sooo much more!
I am convinced my teenage-self had she read this would have made this universe her entire personality 🤣 It had equally measure laugh out loud moments, tears streaming down my face, action and being pissed off at a particular evil mother 🤬
I loved the characters, especially how deep they were, they were neither good nor evil - they were people with the capacity for both. Nothing is like it seems and the triple plot twist at the end was just 🤌❤️
I enjoyed the setting, but most of all I relished the friendship between Sage and Adaline. It was so tender and precious 💕
I could write a whole essay on this book, but I won't. All I will say is: go read it, it's dark academia so fits the season perfectly.
I surely will be buying the book on the 11th Nov and I'm also keeping an eye out for anything Freya and Alora will publish.

this is a perfect back to the basics of a witchy fantasy novel! i love the set up, i love that we’re focusing mainly on the girls pov & building their friendship first before the romance! yet the romance is still creating so much tension here & these guys are UNDENIABLY hot!! 😮💨😮💨 just love love love! i am however a little salty with this cliffhanger im stuck on the edge with now. you ladies better FIX IT!! but i cant wait for more!!

Okay, I initially started this book with reservations - ‘It’s so long. What needs to be said in the first book of a series that takes that long?’ - my initial thoughts were that the premise was cool but I do not often read books this long that I’m not already invested in within a series.
‘I took a chance, made a change, and broke away’ from these shackling thoughts after about 60-70 pages in - the plot was thickening and the stylistic elements were coloring me excited! I am genuinely hopeful for many books in this series - the ending leaves it VERY open for so much more!
The story? Adeline is a fourth year witch that is a master of all when it comes to witchcraft. Sage is a newb that just found out she is a witch recently, but is thrown into fourth year due to her age and the strong power within. Adeline is forced to tutor her and they form an unlikely friendship that translates SO WELL over the pages. They both have a secret and the secrets are of a life and death nature.
While the world is spinning and terrible things are happening in the community that are causing worry and terror, how will Sage and Adeline balance their responsibilities as students and growing young adults?
The spice was STEAMY. Some of the best steam I’ve ever read. I immediately looked into what I could read next by these authors because they know how to write some tension - masterfully.
Some of my favorite things about the book were-
^The friendship between the two FMCs
^The MMCs backstories (I hope the next book is from their perspective!!!)
^Dark academia written in the absolute perfect setting
^The humor mixed in with the darker elements seamlessly
^ The magic system is ICONIC. Also, the way politics and class are woven in are impressive!
^The fake-dating trope?!?? Omfg - tremendous
A few trigger warnings (pleaseeee read because they are really tough ones for some) -
^Self-harm (this was a tough surprise)
^Animal abuse (one scene; an even tougher surprise)
Favorite quotes -
^ “I fell into the familiar series of pictures that never made any sense to me: an old carriage, stone angels, wilting roses, fire, explosions, blood, and this time eyes turned black as night.” (Pg. 175, because PLOT)
^ “To the girl who runs where she shouldn’t…” (Pg. 178, my first squeal but certainly not my last in this read)
^ “I know you’re scared, little tempest. But you’re not alone. Not any more.” (Pg. 601, this nickname is insta-hot now)

Oh my goodness...
This book was a rollercoaster ride, a good one. Filled with adrenaline, fear and joy. I can't even put into words how this book has made me feel.
All I can say is;
'I'd happily fill my mind with darkness if it was followed up with this light'
This was a Harry Potter meets Evernight & Vampire Academy meets Hunger Games (ish) book.
It contains the following (but not limited to) tropes:
- Enemies to Lovers
- Slow Burn
- Sunshine & Grumpy
- Fake Dating
"I will f*ng ruin anyone who doesn't fall at your feet. They won't even have a chance to beg."
I am so very much invested in what is yet to come as this book will definitely have a book 2, especially with the way that it has ended. I am left gobsmacked and I desperately need that next book. This is how I feel after that ending;
'They leave you and it hurts and you feel angry, sad, guilty in equal measure.'
Alora Black and Freya Grey have worked so perfectly with this story, it just flows so well. You honestly can't even tell that this book was written by two Authors. The storyline had the perfect amount of everything in it; romance, mystery, fantasy, witchcraft, twists and turns. It just feels perfect? I don't say that lightly either. I was hooked, I am still hooked.
I'm so sad it's over for now.
I will recommend this book to everyone I know.
I can't wait until it is released to the public on the 11th of November.

Loved it!! It felt a little slow at first, but having reached the end, it all makes sense now. Light on the world building as I like and the character development is a slow growing theme throughout. As they progress, you learn more and more about them which I like a lot. I can’t wait to read more of the story and see what happens.

First I would just like to say thank you to both authors for this ARC!!
“The Holy Academy of Witches” by Alora Black and Freya Grey is a captivating exploration of magic, teenage intricacies, and the captivating world of dark academia. It’s written in a dual POV, featuring Adeline and Sage.
The reading experience had some challenges because there were many things happening at once, like simultaneous events and side quests. It sometimes felt a bit like suddenly being in the second book of a series rather than gradually introduced in the first book😵💫 The intricate plot also made it a bit tricky to keep up with everything. The magic system, encompassing conventional, light, and dark magic, along with unique ‘gifts’ for everyone, adds depth, but a bit more explanation would have been appreciated.
Despite these hurdles, the narrative exhibits significant potential, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next book thanks to a compelling cliffhanger. The portrayal of teenagers making genuine mistakes feels authentic and adds a refreshing layer. The dual POV, featuring Sage and Adeline, gives the story a great dynamic😍
The characters emerge as the true driving force, with Cillian, standing out as a favorite of mine! Oh, and you also get the best of both worlds with the male main characters—one blonde and one dark-haired🤭 The character dynamics, especially the grumpy-sunshine-friendship between the female main characters, left a lasting impression, eliciting both laughter and sighs. The genuine angst in the story had me engrossed, hoping for a satisfying resolution.
Despite the occasional challenge in following the numerous plot threads, I would undoubtedly continue reading to witness the journey of these characters🤩. “The Holy Academy of Witches” is a promising debut and I look forward to witnessing the refinement of the authors’ storytelling in the next installment🧙♂️✨

I was immediately intrigued by this book because I love all things witchcraft and dark academia, but I was truthfully blown away and not prepared for how AMAZINGLY FANTASTIC this book was. I genuinely believe this series has the ability to take off and be the “next big thing”.
I have read almost a hundred books this year and this book only comes second to Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac, and ONLY because this is the first book of the series and it ends on a cliff hanger and I need more RIGHT NOW(and I’m salty about it!).
The interpersonal relationship that is developed between our two FMCs is beautiful, raw, and so believable. It is so refreshing to see two flawed individuals come together and for that friendship and growth to be celebrated by the story.
Not only is there amazing friendship development, but there is also the sibling relationship dynamic, and then of course romance, and the writers excelled in developing all of these relationships. There is an enemies to lovers dynamic building and also a fake dating dynamic, and both are “chefs kiss”.
The writing is top notch, there are truly beautiful lines and passages that legitimately brought tears to my eyes. The world building was natural and easy, and didn’t feel like an
info dump in anyway, which I know so many will appreciate.
Read this book, you will not regret it, well other than having to wait for the next in the series!!! I know I can’t wait!!!

First, thank you to the authors for chance to read this as an ARC! I enjoyed getting to know these characters and the magical world you’ve created.
This was a long one, and definitely full of fun mysteries. Also the cliffhanger?? I’ll be anxiously waiting for book two.
Sage and Adeline were our sunshine and grumpy BFFS. Enemies to besties? Either way I enjoyed their progression, though it was easy to assume they’d end up friends in the end. It was still tender and easy to love both characters.
Cillian (“A Silly dream, like his silly name. Cillian.”) was undeniably my favorite character. He was such a mystery at first and also 🥵.
I loved the dual POV in this book. Coming from a Zodiac Academy fan, this has the same feel and makes you excited to bounce between each storyline eager for more.

This book was an amazing adventure and I am so honored to have received this ARC.
Adeline, Sage, Cillian, and Theo (our 4 main characters) each have their own secrets and hidden pasts, which were brought to light in an amazing way throughout this story. There was incredible world building, and readers could easily escape to this magical setting.
The dual POV really added depth to the story and helped readers understand the nuances of their budding relationships (plus I would never guess that two authors wrote this book, everything meshed so well!). If you asked me to pick my favorite couple from this book, I would honestly tell you no. Don't even get me started on the ending.....please tell me book 2 will be released soon?!

This is book is madness in the best kind of way!
I feel like this book blindsided me with how brilliant it was.
The character and relationship development is insanely good. How it isn’t just about relationships in the traditional sense but also strong friendships and found family units forged.
Emotions of the characters really come through in this book in the clearest manner, you feel every heartbreaking, awkward and anger fuelled moment.
Dual POV ‘s provide us with a different insight into the same situations experienced by both Sage and Adeline was genius.
The magical system was top tier, I can struggle to get my head around complicated systems. However, the one used within this book had depth while also being easily understandable which I deeply appreciated.
The deadly trials, mystery and terrorist plot aspects of the story line alongside the academic setting really makes for a gripping book with plenty of detail and drive.
I was surprised by how much I loved this book and how deeply I fell for it.

4.5 stars - first thank you so so much for the ARC! I absolutely loved the book! Dark academia, magic, tension, banter I am obsessed! It was a little slow to start and the magic system took some getting used to but overall it was so good! Adeline, Sage, Cillian, and Theo are a cast of characters that I found myself thinking about when I wasn’t able to be reading and was dying to know what was going to happen next. I also loved that all of the characters were relatable in different ways and each having their own secrets to hide behind the front they tried to put forth. Can’t wait for the next!!!!

I loved seeing so many characters. I absolutely loved Sage, Cillian, Theo, and Adeline. Surprisingly, I liked Adeline and Cillian right away. Each character in this book has very different skill sets, personalities, weaknesses, and strengths that are complimented by another character's own.
This book has it all. Academy setting. Magic - both light and dark. Banter and spicy conversations. Competition. Secret identity. Mysteries and secrets. Dark deeds and action scenes. You'll be sucked into this book before you know it. I can't wait to see the next book and what happens to these characters.

This dual POV story is so good and had me wanting to keep reading every time I needed to put it down to focus on other things in my life! 😂 those are the best kind of books in my opinion 😉 I cannot wait for the next book in their story, this is my new Roman Empire. 😭😂

Oooh this one takes lots of twists and turns! Secrets, secrets everywhere. I loved being able to uncover the many layers of all these characters in this world of dark magical academia. The magic is such a cool mix of inner source and also plants, crystals, rituals and potions. Add a dash of fake dating and a touch of romance and it’s the perfect potion for me. I truly didn’t see some of these twists coming and the ending!! I can’t wait for the next one.

Wonderful book, great character and world building! The characters are easy to fall in love with and the ending… BAM! Can’t wait for the second book!

The book was good, the plot was intriguing, the characters likable, but I did feel like it was more school drama. There were side "quests" that I felt needed more attention, like the book and attacks, instead of The Run. However, I also know there is a book 2 so book 1 set the stage for more, I hope. I will read book 2.
