4 Willing To Put in The Effort Stars ⭐

Least favorite book in the series, almost DNF'd it. Why bother giving a "warning" about possessive, obsession, lactation/milking, bondage, etc., when the h and H are apart and fighting from 31% to 82%. Elena Dawne returns with the
Spice in the Mountains
series and I couldn't be more surprised and ecstatic about it. Gunnar Scott takes the forefront as the MMC and he is the sexiest and greenest flag you could ever ask for. This man is simply devoted to his child as well as the mother of his child and woman of his dreams—Jemma Wade. I loved how sweet this book was and how it plays on the one night stand, accidental pregnancy, and second chance romance tropes. Gunnar was previously featured in
Mountain Daddy's Milk & Honeymoon
and played a role in Maggie and Ben's HEA. I thought it was interesting that this book took place before, during, and after that event. We got to see the "repercussions" of his actions. Jemma was a likeable FMC but I grew frustrated with her at times because her view on love was heavily influenced by one father's departure and the other's subsequent heartbreak. As a result, she had to take care of the one who was left behind and it changed her. Jem didn't think that anyone would ever love or stay for her—until Gunnar.
In the end, Gunnar was the MVP of this book and I loved his character so much. He didn't think he deserved Jem but was willing to stay by her side even if she discarded him. It broke my heart to see his devotion and love for her. Thankfully, she made the right choice and grabbed her chance at a happy ending once and for all. Jem knew what she wanted but her own insecurities made her doubt everything. However, she was able to overcome her own misgivings and made the best choice ever. I really hope that Elena Dawne will continue writing books for Gunnar's friends including Jason, Vince, and Daryl. Their interaction during Gunnar's confession was hilarious and made me interested in their stories. In any case, if you are in the market for a spicy and sweet book featuring the most devoted and adorable mountain man, read this book. You won't be disappointed by the characters, love story, and steamy scenes.

The first time I read Elena Dawne's book was when I discovered kinks that I didn't know I would like. Age Gap? I'm a hohohoe for that ever since but put breeding and lactation into it—well rip me I died dead.
I always wait for her new releases because out of all the erotica I read, only hers can satisfy me—a quite short and one-handed read with a sprinkle of plot here and there. I've never rated Elena's books because I think the stars don't go well with them, I prefer the spicy rating instead.
But now for the first time ever, I'm rating stars—shocking. Why? Well here it goes...
I love this series but this book ruined it for me.
To know that Gunnar from Book 2 "participated" there while he already has Jem and their daughter Viv, is an ick. Regardless if he and Jem were committed or not. It's a no for me. If the book is all about spice, I'd give the highest one but putting a story in there that made the character so eww, well I'm not having it.

Sigh. You know what, I've had such a good time reading this one initially. I was like, yes this is what I want from my smut. A heck lot of fucking (good quality fucking), a little character development, some sweet fucking soul of a male lead character (yeesh, he was almost perfect).

Then the ball dropped.
And I don't give a fuck about him anymore. I'm sorry. I can't let him pass. That was such a shitty thing to do. And Ben's a fucking shitty friend. Shelby too. What the fuck were these characters fucking thinking?
At the very least, GIMME THE FUCKING MONTHS YEARS OF GROVELLING.
But then again, what did I expect? I just love these two people so much that FUCK, I forgot the kind of genre I was reading.

The titles and covers are genuinely taking me out 😭.
This was probably my least favourite story by ED. It got off to a really good start (in typical ED fashion), but the more that I read, the more I felt like so much was trying to happen in a way that just didn't work.
From the separation to the constant will they won't they (mixed in with some lies and drama), it became messy (not in a fun way) which made me dislike both the characters. Idk bye 😭.

Fucking hell.
A while ago, I randomly read the previous book in this series. I actually hate most of the tropes in this series (whyyyyyy do female authors pair every stone age man with a freshly 18 girl), but my curiosity for trying new things always kills me and I was looking up hucow books lmao.
So onto this book:

I picked it up not even realizing I had read the previous book and blindly started it bc someone who shall go unnamed recommended it in a weak moment.
And the author completely betrayed her readers by having the MMC enthusiastically participate in a group session to milk another character's girl (in the previous book, but it takes place DURING this book). He comes home and downplays it all like it was nothing. And then later, at the END of this book, he goes back to breed her to help her get pregnant with those same buddies. And I clearly remember that part from that book. He was very enamored with her and was way into it and was asking for another go at fucking her after the first round. And then he goes home the next day and tells the FMC he had sex with the woman instead of just providing sperm like they planned, but says it meant nothing and he was "thinking of her" the entire time and that it made him realize she was it for him....and then the asshole asks her to not go on her date she was heading out to and to date him instead because he's apparently only been into her even when he was fucking another woman repeatedly the night before. And she does without qualms because she's stupid. And this is at the end of the book too. Like???
I wasted my time reading this book, and I don't care to have that time back, I actually really want the money that the number of pages I read gave to the author back smh.

The other woman also breastfeeds her baby the first time around because she was hungry and wouldn't take a bottle and the FMC wasn't there. Everyone in the reviews is freaking out about that but that's actually the most normal thing (unless you're from the US or don't have old timey parents I guess) that happened in this entire series.
Even beyond that, this book was pretty terrible all around, but I can't bring myself to care to type any more out.

OH HELL NO. This was good and cute and nice and then it went downhill so fast. I was already put off by the scene of Maggie being paraded around to all the guys and all of them getting aroused by it... Including our main male lead who claims to love the mother of his child. And then he goes and gangbangs Maggie (which, not to mention, is also 19 years old just like our h who he thinks is too young for him)??? Claims it was just to help them??? Yeah, absolutely not. I read some excerpts from the previous book mentioned in another comment and Gunnar was enjoying his time with Maggie a lot. That was disgusting. I wish authors would understand that trigger warnings are needed. I don't read comments so as to not spoil things for myself but I should have read this book's comments since people had the decency to warn about the cheating. I don't care that they weren't officially in a relationship. He had been pining for her for multiple chapters and wanted to be with her. This book should have come with a TW saying: he literally cheats on her since he claims to love her, enjoys doing all the kinky milking stuff to another woman but then "feels guilty" and confesses both the deed and his love to her the day after. I'm not kidding when I say this emotionally scarred me since cheating is a big trigger for me. Not to mentioned she took him back. I've never been this mad after reading a book. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

A year and a baby later, Gunnar and Jem reconnect. They need to work out their relationship.
There’s a decent amount of spice and quite a bit of the “dairy” talk. It was an entertaining read.

This book made me blush. I've been impatiently waiting to read this one. It did not disappoint. This series is amazing. Gunnar was approached by a young Jemma. She told him what she wanted from him and he delivered and then some. This book is spicy and covers a lot of steamy kinks.

I wasn't expecting liking this one as much as I did but there was one glaring issue that made me lower my rating because I really didn't see the need for what happened and the more I thought about it, the more unpleasant it all became. Girl has limits and this one breached them.
I'll start by stating this is my first book by this author and I would love to read more but might have to tread lightly or wait for trigger warnings because although her smut it off the charts and her characters fun and likable, the whole sharing, multi-partner scenes are a big no-no for me.
Wild Oat Milk is Jemma and Gunnar's story. Not having read the first two in this series (duology story of Gunnar's friend) I didn't feel like I lost a lot staring with this one. This can definitely be read as a stand alone.
Jemma is young and dealing with some family issues at home. Feeling alone and stuck in a rut, not experiencing life as a 19 year old should, she sets out to seduce an older man, to loose her virginity and have some fun, on her terms.
To say that bumping into Gunnar would change her life would be an understatement.
These two MCs have sexual chemistry and flirty banter to spare. I loved how easy they both hit it off, the whole push and pull between them was *chef's kiss* I loved each of their interactions and scenes even after the unfortunate almost year long separation. Knowing that both MCs remained celibate and still harbored real lasting feelings for each other was the cherry on top.
Did Jemma play a little hard to get? Sure. But Gunnar also pulled the "hurt her to protect her" card *eye roll* There was some communication issues with both of them but it wasn't overblown or OTT. It was frustrating, sure but it added to the tension between them. Loved it. I even got over the silly Little Miss nickname, people!
I was still loving it up until Gunnar mentions donating sperm to his sterile friend's wife the "old fashion" way. WTF! And it didn't really matter to me that he asks Jemma, the fact is this is a breeding kink story about a guy desperate to start a family and when he finds the love of his life and they've already started a family with baby Viv, why the hell would either of them be okay with him gang banging his friend's wife and give her a baby?!?!
This was so unexpected and it honestly ruined what was so far, turning into a four to five star read.
I would have tolerated it more (maybe) if this happened during their almost year long separation because technically they weren't together but the fact that he's trying to win Jemma over, is literally pining for her but still decides to go through with this plan to possibly impregnant someone else? How is this gonna work long term? Assuming they all remain friends, won't their kids have to be told that Uncle Ben's kids may or may not be your half sibling? Why go there? It just seemed so unnecessary.

This was the perfect combination of smut and plot, and I loved every single second of it. The spice was still spicin’, but now it actually meant something. Emotional connection, character development, and a storyline that carried me from start to finish without feeling like filler between sex scenes.
Gunnar did EXACTLY what needed to be done.

this was longer than necessary... this reminds me when i was in school, we are given an assignment to write a report with a set number of pages for something that can be done within one or two pages so you have to basically repeat everything and make it redundant just to hit the pages count assigned. essentially from 30% to 80% of the book, that's half of the book aka 120 pages, it was all inner monologues, recapping everything that happened a few second ago, and the couple being apart and not together at all... very repetitive with no action.
that's very unfortunate because i loved the first book and the kink in this one was something i look forward to read after my good impression of book 1. also that secret baby... and one year jump. not my favourite execution, especially it could've focused more on the breeding if it wasn't a 'secret'. also, not a big fan about what Gunnar mentioned that happened at Ben & Maggie, left a dirty feeling about the whole thing... if i was the heroine, i wouldn't let it fly at all.

This book is a bit crazy and has an ick factor in it that was soooo not romantic.
She’s like 19 and he’s 42. She goes to seduce an older man on purpose to lose her vCard and have enjoyment while doing it. He’s a bit appalled he is into someone so young - he typically isn’t. Their chemistry is off the charts. He pretty much thinks he’s in love right away. The condom broke and he has these breeding fantasies - he figures it already broke he’ll go for round 2 bare. (His logic is cockamamie.) anyway- you guessed it - she gets pregnant. But she gave him a fake name and job and she ran away in the morning. He wanted to tell her about the condom and give her options but even though he searches for her he can’t find her.

He wanted to tell her about the condom and give her options but even though he searches for her he can’t find her.

I got hooked on Gunnar from the 2nd book of this series surrounding Maggie & Ben. He intrigued me and we got to meet baby Victoria then so it was fantastic to get the background of her conception and who her mama is.
Jem is a young woman who is trying to find some stability in her chaotic world. I'm a bit heartbroken for her because her current home life sucks and she really wants to do something for herself. Hence, she gets decked out and heads to the bar to find an older man to take her v card. Gunnar is the perfect guy for the job but even though she was more than ready Gunnar was not for how much this "little miss" is going to rock his world!
We know their one night stand resulted in baby Viv but when Gunnar doesn't find out till several months by accident he is crushed. He would never have left his child or her mother. He was very upset about missing so much and he's determined to be a good dad but he knows he can never be what Gem needs.
I have to say the breeding and milking themes are strong and very hot. They are also have some intense "Daddy" scenes that are behind exciting. Gunnar is a good man and when they finally submit to each other's needs and desires the pages are on fire! Happy Reading!!

The protagonist is very detestable. She really seems like a futile and immature teenager and in no way like an "old soul". She offends her own father, leaves her daughter's father "punished" without being able to see her if he says something she doesn't like. She throws tantrums at everything, honestly the baby is more obedient and kinder than her. For the love of God, the world doesn't revolve around her. And it's impressive how she boasts about supporting the house and a baby alone when she doesn't even show up working. She should be grateful to her father because she could NEVER have enough money to support herself. And she plays the victim so much saying that she was abandoned when she treats her parents like TRASH, as if they were a burden. Not for a moment does she try to understand, she just responds rudely and is very very mean. I felt very sorry for her father. Gunnar seems a lot closer to his daughter than she is, to be honest. And I'm still waiting for the moment when she at least apologizes for lying to him. SHE ALWAYS THINKS SHE'S RIGHT, IT'S VERY IRRITATING. And that story about sperm donation? I don't even have the reaction to describe how ridiculous it sounds. Vivi is my favorite character and that just shows how bad this story was.
