A doomed vampire. A vengeful biker bear. An unlikely union.
Overturned. Piston's life underwent a complete reversal the moment his sister was murdered. Vengeance wasn't far from his mind, but with two young nieces to look after, avenging his sister was the least of his priorities. When a friend calls Piston in for a favor, he can't refuse, even if it means sheltering a bloodsucking leech. However, Linus isn't what Piston expects. Despite the centuries he's lived, Linus is unexpectedly naive and sweet. Linus and he are from two completely different worlds, but when temptation is within reach, no one can refuse fate's call.
Traitor. The vampire king of his coven has branded Linus an enemy, and Linus has no idea why. Lost and without allies, he has to rely on a complete stranger to extricate himself from a bind. Piston is off-limits. Linus knows he'll bring his biker bear nothing but pain and trouble. He's not worthy of Piston's love, but Piston is determined to prove him wrong.
Piston is an M/M shifter romance and the ninth installment in the Moon Burrow Bears series.
I wanted to see Piston earn his redemption so bad. But this just fell so flat for me. There wasn’t very much that I liked about this story, maybe with the exception of Rose and Lily, Piston’s nieces. Even then, they were written as caricatures of the most perfect and well behaved children.
Big fight ensues, Linus is injured but let’s kiss first even though we just met. Mates or not, that’s just dumb.
Whizz doesn’t trust Linus because he’s a vampire, but then takes Piston to another room to talk leaving Linus alone with Rose and Lily. Make it make sense.
The chemistry between Piston and Linus is nearly nonexistent. We get two whole, and rushed, bedroom scenes between them and neither showed a level of intimacy that seemed real.
Piston finally avenges his sister and we are supposed to really think he waited a year to visit her grave and tell her? Yea, no.
I don’t know. Maybe I need to give up on these books. They just aren’t doing it for me. They are definitely for some people, but I think it’s time I moved on.
I am a massive lover of the Moon Burrow bears series but this book is not it. From the girls names changing within the first two pages and what I can only assume is missing dialog when Piston thanks Venom for saying something despite the fact that Venom hadn't spoken at all.
This is a very very rushed novel that has very little going for it other than the fact that it's in a universe I enjoy immensely. There is no connection between Piston and Linus really and there's so many inconsistencies in the characters personalities and how they behave that it's just bad.
Update/Edit:
Thinking about it I have even more complaints about it. Parts of this book feel so out of place, missing dialog, short sentences, short paragraphs. Parts of the book feel generated rather than written because of how the words flow together. This book reads nothing like the previous books or any of the authors other works and I would know because I've read a lot of them.
I can't even finish this book and I'm so sad as I've read all the others in the series and thoroughly enjoyed them. There are errors all throughout the book, which are noticeable and put me off reading everytime. This story felt disjointed compared to the others, like the mate bond felt fake and talking about feelings within a day when they hadn't even spent anytime with each other. With the other books it felt like animal instinct of the mating bond but with Piston his bear was like an afterthought. This one is a miss from me but I would read this author again if the next one is better.
Part of the Moon Burrow Bears series each can be read as a standalone with shifters. Piston is an alpha bear with much on his plate sister was murder making him an instant uncle/dad but he is no parent so he is learning as he go making all kinds of mistakes but his nieces know he loves them doing his past to be what they need, the best life possible and never imagine finding a mate in all of what he is already going through. Linus is a vampire, but he is different he doesn’t attack humans for their blood but lives on animal blood on the run from his own family because they want him dead, but he isn’t sure why and never forgetting the bear who saved him from his family’s assassin. The two are drawn to one another they can’t ignore the magnetic pull between them he loves those two little girls his nieces and they all see that Linus isn’t your typical vampire he is loving, kind, friendly but has his family given up on trying to kill him, will they be ready for them should they attack, has the two unlikely found something more with their little unprepared, unplanned family, and can they have more between them?
This is book 9 in the Moon Burrow Bears series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. This is the story of Piston and Linus. Piston is an alpha bear shifter with Moon Burrow MC Pack. He recently assumed guardianship of his two nieces due to the murder of his sister. His parenting skills may be in question but he is 100% committed to giving them their best life. Linus is a vampire but not a typical one. He only drinks animal blood not human blood. We first meet him when he is on the run from vampire assassins from his Shadowbrook Coven. He doesn't understand why his siblings want him dead. Piston and Linus meet when Piston saves Linus from the assassins. Unexpectedly, the two of them are instantly drawn to each other. This is their story. Linus is kind and friendly. It was nice to see the vampire portrayed as the nice guy. Piston was his usual grumpy self. The book is written well and easy to read. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Epic and courageous. Piston's sister, Elise was murdered by a vampire and vengeance became his purpose in life. He becomes guardian of Lily and Rose, Elise's daughters. Big adjustment in his life and a new purpose, help them through their grief and keeping them safe. Linus, is a vampire trying to escape his coven. He was warned by his mentor, Erick a man involuntarily turned when he was older. Linus's brother, Remus, the coven leader and sister, Regina are trying to kill him and he doesn't know why. They sent relentless assasins, Dirk and Ricardo who never fail to do the job. Piston, owes Erick a favor and is asked to shelter Linus. Linus, has a huge target on his back. He has low self esteem with his siblings being vicious over achievers. Another great adventure of standing up to what seems like a daunting challenge while owning one's truth. Good story. Piston and Linus are good guys. Lily and Rose are delightful. It's a battle for love and home. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Out of all the other books in the series, this one is the one I liked the least. It was a hot mess. I guess I just didn't like the story, and honestly, I was just still pissed off at Piston for how he treated Lenny in the previous book. Then Lenny comes to his aid several times in this book, which confused me. To top it off, Piston was a total douchebag in the previous book and now we're expected to believe he's this super sweet, nice guy in this book?
Overall I thought the story and fight scenes were just way too far fetched since Linus was described as a little guy.
ALSO: I'm just going to say it..... could the author have picked better names??!! I can't be the only one who is annoyed by these names? When the girls say Uncle Piston it's totally cringey, Whizz makes me think of someone having to take a whizz, and Linus makes me think this little vampire is running around carrying a little blue blanket talking to Charlie Brown!
Finally, why would he wait a year to go to his sister's grave to tell her he avenged her? Why not go immediately after? That was odd.
This was a little different then what the others in the series. More instalove...not as violent...the bears are getting more calmer and gentler now with them getting mated. Piston did a 180 reversal from previous books...maybe due to his sister's death and him taking on his nieces...his decent and that's a good thing. For a minute there I was wondering if I'm actually reading a Fel Fern Moon Burrow Bears book because this was close to being too lovey dovey but I enjoyed it. Piston found his true love in Linus a vampire who was sweet but strong when it's needed. After all the vengeance and the prophecy played out, this was a very nice romance. Very Nice ending.

So many errors made this nigh on impossible to read
I liked the story but the execution was terrible. Typos, wrong names, missing words and dialogue, continuity errors for days, it was even worse than usual for a Fel Fern book. It's such a shame as Fel has decent ideas for stories, and great characters too, but doesn't do justice to any of them and a few decent beta readers, an editor and a proofreader would work wonders. I just didn't feel a connection with Piston and Linus, nor did they feel connected to each other much. I liked Whizz more and, of course, I loved what little we saw of Venom. So sad because it had potential.
“We’ve only met, but I’ve never felt like this before," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. "You scare me, Piston. But you also make me feel more alive than I've ever felt in centuries."
"I won't deny that this scares me too," he confessed, his eyes searching mine. "But sometimes, the best things in life are the ones that scare us the most."
I really enjoyed this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. Linus and Piston had great chemistry and Linus won my heart quick. Rose and Lily were also sweet. But Linus has a big target on his back from his coven and Piston still wants revenge for his sister's murder. I couldn't wait to see how it would turn out. 4 stars.
Bjo.
This story continues the Moon Burrow bears romantic pairings, and this time it's Piston's turn. Linus, a vampire, is brought into his life through some unfortunate events for both of them. It's insta attraction. Linus fits right in to Piston's family. He is raising his nieces. Together they have to fight evil forces in Linus's past. They overcome and get their hea. I would have liked a little more relationship development between the two, but overall they made a solid and romantic couple.
Tough, wonderfully written, and courageous characters. Piston went from uncle to uncle and guardian when his sister was killed by a vampire. Linus is a vampire who wishes to escape and becomes none other than Piston's mate. Admittedly I was biting my nails to see how this would all shake out. Fabulous, as always!.

A great addition to the series! Linus and Piston were sweet. Things moved pretty quickly between the two but they had to face several challenges before they got their HEA.
Fantastic book and I really enjoyed it.

This was a really good book. I really enjoyed Piston and Linus together. These two are opposites but they fit so well together. These two should not be mated as they are supposed to enemies but fate has other plans for this couple included a great HEA.

I could read these books forever! Piston was such an a-hole to Lenny that it's hard to believe he changed! However, Venom doesn't give up on his people and he saw something the MC grizzlies didn't and so did Linus. They should have kept him in the loop! Great book by the way!.

I love this serie you get pulled in immediately and this story has the cute & cuddly nieces & that's exactly what you want to do cuddle with them!!!! This series shows you that appearancs are not what they always seem when you get mean & nasty ex con bears with hearts of gold!!!!! Thank you - Lori
Not sure what happened with this one, it needs some serious editing. Especially on the first half of the book it seems like the outline notes were left in place or the outline was fed into an AI program. Very disappointing. I have ready many of the author’s books and though formulaic, they have always been well written.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. A request for help leads to Piston and Linus mating and justice served. I like how Linus steps up to fulfill his destiny with Piston's help. Best of all is the family Linus and Piston build with Piston's nieces.
Piston's sister is killed by a Vampire and he has her daughters to care for. Linus is a Vampire but on the run from his brother and sister, that want him dead. Piston and Linus become mated and will do anything for their family. Awesome read.
Piston, a bear shifter, agrees to help Linus, a vampire, and they realize that they are mates. Linus has a family problem, his brother and sister want him dead. I really enjoyed this book. The whole series is great.
Not my favorite of the series. I was expecting a bit more dialog from the MC Club members and Piston who now has not only nieces he responsible for but also a vampire mate....
Piston a member of the Grizzly Reapers motorcycle club in Moon Burrow. His sister has been murdered by a vampire and he is now in charge of his two nieces. When a friend asks for his help in rescuing someone he agrees to do what he can. Linus is the brother of Remus a vampire king. Remus has sent assassins after his brother because of a vision by a seer. Piston saves Linus and kills one of the assassins the other escapes. This story is full of danger, guilty feelings, drama but also love and family. I always look forward to the next book from this author.
This was an ok read, rating is based on the fact it just felt a bit boring. Did not even get a chance to care for the new character, it felt so forced and rushed.
