Readers will enjoy a contemporary love triangle and the unearthing of well hidden family secrets. Alice Crane, a University student in Toronto falls in love with two very different young men, though one she’s only encountered while dreaming. As her feelings grow, so too does her longing for the life she’s built in her dream world called Celdora. A story within our story tells us more about this world; its corrupt High Counsel, and the tragic loss of a Royal Suitor. When Alice uncovers her heritage, she must decide whether to take her place as a Suitor and save Celdora from the fate of the unstoppable Centurion, or turn her back on her new friends and settle for the life she’s created in the waking world. Little does she know, the choice will be made for her. Little does she know, the two men she loves are connected.
I really enjoyed the world building of Celdora. I must be jaded, because I really expected for one of the leading males to become a lover to enemy. I cannot wait for there to be a book 2, because that ending is a cliffhanger.
Lucid was such an engaging read. The story was so captivating and creative. Such an unexpected twist. I felt like I knew the characters and could not wait to find out what happened next. It was hard to put down. I hope a sequel comes out so that we can find out if history repeats itself.
