A rebellious princess cursed by the gods.
The loyal warriors sworn to protect her.
A bond broken only by death.

From the day I was born, I was destined to become a sacrifice to my father’s power.

Now everything has changed. My father is dead, I’ve claimed the Fae magic and altered the course of a bloody, thousand-year war. I’m stronger, more powerful…and I have an even deadlier enemy—the ruthless Shadow King.

To protect the men I love, I’ll forge an alliance with the traitorous High Seer and betray every vow I’ve ever made, because there is only one way to defeat the king and prevent the ancient magic from corrupting me and my bonded warriors.

First, we'll save the world.

Then kill the gods before their curse kills us.

**Merciless Is My Crown is a why choose, high stakes fantasy romance with elements of forbidden love, found family, fated mates, enemies to lovers, Fae, shifters and political conflict.

I received an arc copy and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

So this is going to be really short as I do not actually have much to say. I've looked at other reviews and gathered others opinions as well as my own and I can't really see what some people are gaining from this book.

There's the repeated chaos and it gets boring and dull. This has been going on for 3 books without any change, and it was a struggle to get through (took me a over a month to read). I see the plot points and everything else, and I won't deny that it's interesting... But entertaining would be debatable.

The males in the book, it felt like some got little time actually in the book, like Tristan, and I just have no connection. I'm a bit disappointed as I really liked the previous books.

I'd say definitely read this series if you're into action, but for me, I wasn't feeling it personally.

Merciless is my Court by LA McGinnis is a why choose fantasy romance novel. I have read and devoured every book in this series as we prepare for the end game (in December 2024). The author really knows how to weave together a brilliant tale. There is everything a fantasy needs action, beautiful worlds, amazing hero/heroines, villains, magic the element of surprise and so much more.
As we get closer to the end we learn more about our main characters. They also grow closer. We also of course see the action increasing with more enemies evolving.
I can not wait for book 4 the epic conclusion. If you haven’t started this series then definitely give it go!

Merciless Is My Crown Is a cracking next instalment in the Wicked Realms series. This is a saga that offers growling, predatory mates, dangerous heroines, unpredictable magic and a history of old Gods. It never fails to impress and amaze.

If you love a ‘why choose’ reverse harem, then this fated mates twist may be right up your street. The love interests are all spicy, the adventure is high octane and the future of the entire realm lies in the hands of this evolving and entangled group of heroes. I loved it!

The saga continues for Anaria and her men. It's like all reality TV rolled into one book, the drama, the intrigue, the duplicity, and ooooh the loving, you need a fan going full blast to cool you down!!! The books/storyline draws you in leaving you wanting more. An emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. Cheering Anaria on, hoping her little acts of defiance will eventually rid the world of chaos and corruption.

I'm counting down the days until the next in the series!!!!

To fight and to lose and to fight again to help bring peace to all. But when Anaria is on her death bed and must be healed and she was stricken down the one of the old gods, Corvus and he spread a soul reaper into her body, they had to find a mage that could take out the black magic to save her. Tavion, the wolf shifter is her mate and will stop at nothing to save her. Bexley, the mage healer, is trying to help but he needs help. Simon the seer, then speaks of Tavion as Ardaric, Raziel is Gattica, Zorander is Vitigis, DeVayne is Saphrax and Anaria is Amalla as the most powerful god who binds them together for this quest.

Anaria, Raziel, Zorander, Tavion and now Tristan, have successfully defeated King Carex. The world has changed but they still need to deal with the Shadow King and the twins.

Will they be able to defeat the Shadow King? Will Anaria, her lovers and her friends survive the evil? You must come and read this story to find out.

This book has amazing characters and top notch world building.

I didn’t realize this book was apart of a series.
It took me so it took me awhile to understand
the storyline but I do know there’s plenty more
to came and a lot of answers to come.
So I really do suggest reading this series from the beginning.

Nail biting affair! Stakes are getting higher. Like all of the L.A. McGinnis's previous books, I devoured this 500+ page book. There is no letting up on the suspense.

I'm glad to see some resolution and development with Torin and Tristan, although that means less time with her other mates.

Although my review is brief, I wanted to say this is a wonderful series and I'm not looking forward to it ending.

REVIEW
Book 3 is Deliciously DARK!

Anaria has proved herself to herself and her men...
She has opened her eyes to those she can trust, and those she has no use for.

She learns she is so much more than she ever knew.
Raz, Zor, Tav, and Tristan are by her side through it all.
And her mother wanted her to pick between her men and the magic? Well MOTHER dearest I am not YOU!

Oh, I sure hope book four comes out soon!

Oh my gosh, I cannot believe how enchanting LA McGinnis writes.
Every single turn, I'm on the edge of my seat. I love these characters. I love this story line. I'm gonna be sad when this story ends. But will always look forward to the next idea La McGinnis has. I encourage everyone to read any of her books! They are fresh ideas. Clear stories and wonderful characters.

This series gets better and better!

L. A. McGinnis’s third installment finds Anaria and her men trying to outsmart the Oracle while ridding the world of the Shadow King and restoring the magic to another part of Valarian. As usual, McGinnis takes the reader on a wild ride as these characters grow and become more than they once were because of their bond. New allies, some rather surprising, are added to the mix and not just a few harrowing scenes thrown in for the giggles. I love this author and her amazing ability to put her imagination on paper in breathtaking strokes. I cannot recommend this book any more highly and will wait, the the proverbial bated breath, for book 4!

"These males, as you call them, are my life. I belong to them, and they belong to me in a way you will never understand. I would die to save them. And before the end, I will sacrifice everything for them."

This series has me in such a chokehold! Compelling characters, high stakes, a gripping plot and scorching spice are masterfully woven together and I. Am. Here. For. It. 🔥

"I squeezed the tears from my eyes one final time.
Tears because they were mine, and I didn't know how much longer this would last.
Or how I was going to protect them from the dangers ahead.
I would protect them until I couldn't fucking wield my magic, until I couldn't draw breath, that's when."

I loved discovering more about Tristan and getting more of his POVs, and Tavion has firmly embedded himself in my heart (as I knew he eventually would! 🐺)

I am very much looking forward to the epic conclusion in Vicious Is My Throne, releasing in June❤️‍🔥

This series keeps getting better and better. This was book 3 in the series, and we had more danger, more action, more enemies, more tension, and more betrayal.

I am so engrossed in this world and the journey the characters are going through.
It's captivating I am loving every page of it.
This book was definitely my favourite out of the three so far. There was so much going on, so many twists, my heart was in my throat.

I am now eagerly awaiting the next instalment!

This dark-fantasy romance has it all!! Political intrigue, touch her and die, why choose, Fae shapeshifters, and dragons!! I love how well developed the characters are and how integral to the plot each AND every one is. Do not mess with Anaria, or get on the wrong side with her male lovers. And those witches!! I really enjoyed them.

Best book of the series so far!

I was already in love with the world, but somehow, McGinnis made it even more magical. We met new characters and got to know previous characters on a whole new level. Enemies became allies, and allies became lovers. The plot had unexpected twists. The action was fantastic, and it left me wanting more. And the spice!!!! We had some generous sprinkling throughout the book, but chapter 69 (cough, cough) was just *chefs kiss*. I am usually stingy on my 5 stare ratings, but this was well earned.

I am dying for book 4. L. A. McGinnis, have mercy and publish 4 ASAP!!!!

Things move pretty slowly in this book as they decide whether to take out Corvus and Gelvira/The Oracle or The Shadow King. But they must save Anaria from Corvus’s poison.

They reach the Wynter Palace and Simon brings the healer mage, Bexley. Only, he’s not strong enough to fight Corvus’s fast spreading corruption. Anaria must fight herself free of his poison and then the mage can heal her wounds. Tavion is the only thing that keeps her grounded enough to fight it off. Corvus’s power morphed into a soul reaper that was eating away at Anaria.

Now that she’s alive, Torin calls in a favor. She needs Anaria to rescue an old friend from Darkhold prison. A dragon shifter, thought to be extinct, has been trapped there by the Oracle for centuries. They come up with a plan for the group to split. Zor, Raz, Torin, and Simon go to rescue Zephryn, the dragon. While Tavion, Tristian, and Anaria head to the Barrens to seek the witch coven she hails from. Hoping to form an alliance with them and raise an army to march against the Shadow King.

While traveling through the tunnels, they ensure not to touch the skulls. Tristian can’t help the pull towards them and ends up in a vision. Anaria goes in after him and asks Tavion to get them out with pain. The pain happened in the vision as well and set Tristian into a frenzy and when they get pulled out, he shifts into his other form.. a wyvern! He almost burns everyone down but Anaria helps to calm him down and shift back.

Zor and Raz find danger lurking in darkhold but manage to free Zephryn. Meanwhile, Adele sent a letter ahead of them warning the barrens coven of their arrival. And Anaria’s scion mark giving her claim to the throne and a challenge to their current ruler. When they arrive, Anaria is thrust into a battle to the death with unfair odds. She manages to tip the scales in her favor and win. Also winning over most of the barren coven and allowing them to govern themselves in exchange for a healing spell to save Tavion. Which works.

Bella, daughter of a powerful witch, has been helping Anaria study the old gods. Torin has another friend trapped in an amulet who is a powerful astronomer and would be able to decipher her findings. They come up with a plan to distract the Oracle. With her affinity to Gattica and keeping his skull close, Anaria wagers her entire plan on the Oracle harboring feelings for Raziel too. The Oracle catches on and sends a very convincing threat to their doorstep. Moments before the rest of them arrive back with the amulet. They leave Adele behind to live her life with her people (though she’s pissed about it.) and the group part ways from the Barren Witches.

They’re able to free Cosimo, Torin’s lover, with the help of Trubahn. But Cosimo is no mere astrologer. They can’t quite figure out who this powerful cunning male is. But he helps them by giving the amulet to Trubahn and sending him on his way with a black hole where his memories from the night should be. He deciphers the symbols and says there’s no way to kill Gelvira and Corvus without self sacrificing the rest of them. Which he’s not on board with (doesn’t even consider it as a plan… because he and Zephryn are the missing gods..? 15 came through but 7 are left. We have 7/15 accounted for..?)

They come up with a plan to kill the Shadow King and restore the magic to Solarys. By bringing down the ward and allowing the wild Caladrius magic to entwine with a hole in the iron covering Solarys, it will restore and unite the lands. But it also gives the twins more power to feed off of. They pull off the stunt, barely. And Tristian almost dies in the process. The Oracle tries to trap Anaria in one of her own dreams of their past lives and world. But Anaria is a step ahead this time and uses blood magic to trap Gelvira instead. It works and the magic in Solarys needs to be put in check before it destroys everything. Anaria commands it. Their only step up on the oracle is that the magic has chosen another to obey.

While they revel in a short moment of peace and rebuilding, it comes to their attention that without Gelvira to keep her brother in check, his corruption is seeping out from the Hammer and closing in on them.

Alright. I am giving this a three but I feel I have more complaints than I do likes about this one. This series has been full of crisis, battles, being kidnapped and whisked away, etc. I'll be honest the repeated chaos has gotten old in this one. Any time we get close to some positives someone kidnaps or mind traps the FMC. Any time we see some change in fate? One of the guys is seriously injured. After book three of this repeated pattern I am ready for the end of this book series.

I also want to say again that these books have so much happening. For example we start this book without knowing too much about Adele and end with her being a horrible selfish person who I am sure will betray the group to the oracle in the next book, but she added an entire witch coven with their own history, battles and politics into the mix and that battle and take over only takes around 36 percent of the book. Let me repeat, a major journey, battle/trials, the take over of a coven and the ally building of an entire new system of government isn't even 50 percent of this book. This series could have been more books and left some time for non crisis things. Like for instance character building. Which will be the biggest rant I have about this book so buckle up.

Let's start with the fact that I genuinely felt connected in boom one to the characters, and in boom two I found connection with tavion. However we did not get a full sentence really from Tristan until over 30 percent into the third book. Are you kidding? I know more about Torin and her harem than I do about a key figure in the main group. Tristan is barely a factor at all until he shape shifts and even then he's an after thought for Anaria constantly but somehow he loves her? No. Sorry this should not have had 4 love interests if you could only integrate 3.

Then we have the other three. When did Taz and Zor just become basic cliches of themselves and basically just repeat their sentences they say and sleep with the FMC? They have essentially boiled down to not much in this book and no other love interests are their to catch the slack. I did like the progress from Tavion and all the work he's trying to to put in, but let's add him to the too much happening all at once in these books. He starts this book. "sick" and never comes to terms with it, causes him to treat everyone badly and the. "boom" fixed and the plot point is gone. Was his sickness needed?

I am excited for the next book and I am hoping this series will end well and give some of the character development we saw in book one.

NEW REVIEW!😉💋
Merciless Is My Crown was a epic outstanding tale from LA McGinnis from her Wicked Realms series!!! With fabulous writing and a fast paced and at times pulse pounding storyline with loads of action and plenty of angst and passion its no wonder its one of my top Romantasy reads of 2024!!! The plot just keeps getting better with this reverse harem romance and just when I thought it couldn't get any hotter Tavion the sexy dark wolf shifter has become part of the harem!! Lets just say his predator side comes out full force😅 If you thought the Raz and Zor were something in the bedroom your gonna love Tavion!!! And when all three come to Anaria's bed its pure fucking nirvana!!! How lucky can one girl get! With so many powerful sexy dominant alpha males and new powers coursing through her veins and learning that not only is she half fae but also a witch and with Tristan revealing a surprise ability to shift into something very powerful it isn't long before Anaria and the others set out to gain support in their war against the Oracle Gelvira and her brother Corvus two old gods who are intent on getting their powers back. To the most powerful and deadly High Barrens witches!! Ruled by the deadly and powerful high priestess Vireena a cold hearted bitch who cuts the tongues out of any witch that opposes or questions her reign and who challenges Anaria to a fight to the death when all Anaria only wants her to be her allie! With twists and turns and new characters coming into this group and fighting on all sides and the Oracle pooping up to threatening to kill all those Anaria loves and cares about its a rollercoaster ride with angst and heart pounding moments that had me thinking more then once that shits about to get really bad for this group. LA McGinnis is a fantastic storyteller and her ability to keep you focused page after page with characters that are flawed as they are unique and some really amazing steamy s*x scenes with a why choose vibe has me liking the whole reverse harem genre! I probably couldn't do it but damn I'd die trying with a big smile on my face!😂 Vicious Is My Throne comes out in September and is the last book in this series! Can't wait!! Until next time Luv's😉💋

“Merciless Is My Crown” by L.A. McGinnis is a dark, deliciously twisted tale that grabs you from the first page and refuses to let go. As the third book in the Wicked Realms series, it raises the stakes, plunging readers deeper into a world of ancient curses, forbidden love, and high-stakes political intrigue.

Anaria’s journey is nothing short of captivating. As a cursed princess wielding ancient Fae magic, she’s fierce, determined, and wonderfully flawed. The emotional depth of her character shines through, and her relationships—particularly with her bonded warriors—are rich with chemistry and tension. I absolutely loved that pieces of their individual backgrounds continue to merge and we're beginning to see the bigger picture.

The pacing is spot on, balancing action-packed battles, moments of discovery, and just enough breathing room to keep you invested in every twist and turn. McGinnis masterfully blends elements of dark fantasy with romance, found family, and political strategy, creating a narrative that feels fresh yet satisfyingly familiar for fans of the genre.

I’ve been invested in this series since book one, and the world-building continues to drag me in each time I read another installment. The mix of Fae, shifters, and ancient curses creates a vivid, immersive backdrop that feels alive. And let’s not forget the tension—oh, the tension! The forbidden love and fated mates dynamics add layers of complexity that kept me up reading most of the night.

If there’s one slight critique, it’s that I wish we got just a little more history behind the Shadow King and the curse. But honestly, that’s a minor quibble in an otherwise gripping read.

“Merciless Is My Crown” delivers everything you could want from a dark fantasy romance: unforgettable characters, a richly imagined world, and a story that lingers long after the final page. If you’re not already following Anaria’s journey, this is your sign to dive into the Wicked Realms series.

[Thank you to Book Sirens and L.A. McGinnis for providing me with an eARC of “Merciless is My Crown”; I am providing a voluntary and honest review.]

She will fight for the world

This series just gets better. MIMC is a brilliant why choose, dark fantasy romance; continuing on from "Cruel is my Court".

Having defeated her father, the Fae King, Anaria finds herself having to work with the High Seer to save some friends and look to make alliances with the witches in the High Barrens; all while trying to find a way that she, Tavion, Razel, Zorander and Tristan can take on her uncle, the Shadow King, and stop the Oracle. Working together and learning about their past brings the group closer; but while secrets are revealed, alliances made and loyalties tested, allies have their own agenda's and her enemies are growing stronger.

I loved Anaria's interaction with the wild magic; as well as how her males work together and help each other (all with their own different personalities and skills), and others who join them. It was also great to learn more about Tristan and his past. There are plenty of secrets bought to light but more are hinted at making this a great page turner, with some wonderful lines which really made me smile.

-- Outside the windows flames of gold flashed past, too fast to be moving on two feet, then the real screaming began. “Looks like our friend's enjoying his new form.”

A brilliantly dark story with action from the start and elements of forbidden love, fated mates, found family, danger and politics; with Fae and shifters of various different types. The main characters are really well written, all imperfect in their own way with wonderful chemistry between them (some great spice 🔥combined with care and tenderness). There are secrets, lies, betrayal and violence; monsters; a lovely slow-build RH romance and some brilliant twists. I couldn't put this down and can’t wait for the next one “Vicious is my Throne”.

I received a copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book! Wow! There is so much intrigue, danger, adventure and romance. Enemies everywhere, some so unexpected it made my jaw drop. Anaria is getting closer to her goal of destroying the Oracle and achieving peace, but there are so many who would rather see her dead. The wild magic is expanding with both good and bad results and Anaria is having to make really hard decisions. Raziel, Zorander and Tavion are by her side doing everything in their power to help her succeed and to love her. Starvation and exhaustion dog their every step. Death is always only seconds away, closer for some than others and the Oracle seems to know their every move before they do. We see a new side to Tristan and learn about his past as well. New and shocking allies are found and Anaria is tested time again even as she finds out more and more about her past, her new powers and how it’s interwoven with the Oracle’s. This book is freakin awesome and even though it’s on the longish side I didn’t want it to end! I stayed up reading late into several nights because I couldn’t put it down. I seriously can’t wait now for the next book out in this series because I’m dying to see what this amazing author comes up with next for out heroes and heroine. I received an ARC of this book and am happily leaving a review.

I don’t remember details from either of the first two books but why are they allowing Adele to tag along? Is it to help with recruiting an army from the High Barrens? She’s just too shifty.

Okay, Adele’s treachery is revealed and it doesn’t seem they can avoid her end game. They don’t kill her, which I personally think would be a great decision, but they do allow her to accompany them. Why? I can’t think of one good reason, especially since she can still interfere and create more havoc.

“Twenty years ago, when the Shadow King purged the witches, his soldiers drove the survivors deep into the highest range of the High Barrens. What few are left settled too far north for his armies to reach. ..” Adele had been imprisoned a lot longer than twenty years so how did she know where the witches are located?

Tristan’s past is revealed, somewhat clarifying why he is clinging to his irrational feelings about Anaria.

Anaria and her four men acquire more allies which are sorely needed for the fight against the Oracle, Corvus and the Shadow King. Their god personas are revealed.

I just love this series of adventures with Anaria and her four gorgeous, brutal, vulnerable and magical warriors. The five warriors and the other characters, lands and creatures that make up the Wicked Realm make a great read, for me a page turner and cannot get enough. Need the next adventure to discover what will happen next as nothing goes to plan, there is always a twist or turn, lots of magical surprises, steamy erotic intimate moments with Anaria and her lovers and the adventures, people and adversaries they meet and overcome.
A perfect mix of all my favourite genres, wonderful engaging characters and strong storyline make for magical reading.
The series needs to be read in sequence as you will be lost without the previous book's adventure and besides you will miss out on so much more. I have no doubt I will be re-reading and re-reading this books as round one read is to keep up with the pace and wonder what will happen next, round two can take slower pace to enjoy each moment, go deeper, get more detail and linger more with Anaria, Raz, Zor, Tavion and Tristan. I hope at some stage there is book to give backstory to how Torin and her beaus met and became a merging of lovers.

This was a wonderful addition to series; characters are wonderful and scenario is excellently written
A simply wonderful read that I found to be captivating, full of action and adventure that held my from start to finish of this simply wonderful addition to the series. I do not want to give away the plot and spoil the read for others so will hi lite it.
The princess has had to rely on the loyalty of just four of her followers that have taken it upon themselves to swear their fealty and it is an oath that ends only on death.
They know that they have to ensure that they kill the adversaries that are growing ll the crueller and more vicious and vindictive, they have become monsters without compassion.
The men that have pledged to fight alongside me may feel somewhat differently if they knew I have to end the gods before they kill her.
It is all a matter of timing…..
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all their wonderful writing.
