A slick, kick-ass, space adventure that never lets up! —Paul Rind
As dark as the void of space, Velon ships loomed like monoliths carved from obsidian. Four-Star Station fell prey to their assault, leaving behind a trail of bodies and hostages. Now, their course is set for Earth, and time is running out…
In bygone days, Star Watch would’ve rushed to the rescue. But those once-mythic defenders of the galaxy? They’ve faded into whispers and old tales.
Mollie Reynolds wasn't just the leader of a band of resistors; she was a young Adept under the guidance of a Zin Master, her mind becoming attuned to the subtle vibrations of Algorithmic Prophecy—a metaphysical craft that wove fate with the threads of potential futures. But she hasn’t seen her father, the legendary Captain Jason Reynolds, or her sister, Boomer, in over a decade. Ricket, Dira, Gunny Orion… Those valiant figures from the Craing War have all vanished. And the technologically advanced Caldurians, once Earth’s staunchest ally? They’ve ghosted humanity, taking their cutting-edge warships with them.
Mollie stands at a precipice, facing three Herculean challenges. Recruit a starship captain who’s daring, relentless, and possessing balls of steel. Commandeer the newly minted Caldurian warship, Crysteon. In the midst of chaos, locate her missing father.
Enter Captain Matt Briggs. Does he come with baggage? Sure. More than a little attitude? Maybe. Does he want to help the beautiful, headstrong resistance leader—not so much. But time’s running out—Earth’s fate hangs in the balance. Can Matt and Mollie pull off the impossible? Fend off the swiftly approaching Velon threat? It’s a coin toss.
This new saga voyages through the realms of Space Opera, Space Fleet, Alien Invasion, Metaphysical Visionary, and Military Science Fiction.

WOW!! I was lucky to receive an advance copy of this latest Mark Wayne McGinnis book, Scrapyard Ship... Uprising. Mark wrote the original Scrapyard Ship something like 10 years ago - and it was one of my favorite reads in a long time. So, I was thrilled that the story - or part of the story is continuing. Some of the characters and villains are new, while some are a blast from the past - a perfect blend of nostalgia and a fresh, new adventure. I won't spoil the story for you all, but let's just say this book - this space opera sci-fi adventure has it all - galactic empires, classic space battles, space exploration, cool alien technology, out-of-this-world characters, military science fiction, humor, and a touch of romance. This book has a wonderful metaphysical visionary bent to it, as well. Read this book. Trust me... you will LOVE it! Also - do yourself a favor and check out the latest USS Hamilton book - book 8 - USS Franklin- When Worlds Collide. - Carl Mead
Scrapyard Ship returns with a new twist... Scrapyard Ship—Uprising! I don't write a lot of reviews, but I felt obligated to write this one because it was SO GOOD. Mollie Reynold is all grown up and she's in the thick of it. Entertaining. Check. Thrilling. Check. Romance. Check. Hard Military scifi elements. Check. Fun Space opera. Check. SciFi Metaphysical Visionary. Check. Plus more. The creativity and the fun factor is through the roof. If you like BV Larson or Craig Alanson or others like these authors, no doubt you will like this one by Mark Wayne McGinnis. This guy knows how to spin a yarn.- MK
Well I read this book to the end. Speaking of the ending I didn't really care for it as it is clearly a play into another book. That being said I liked the book enough that it was at times hard to put down. I liked his characters well enough even though the author kept putting them into impossible situations that always seemed to be life or death. I wanted to shout "slow down" to the author. Another thing I could have done without was the endless detailed explanation and description of various parts the ships. Many Sci-fi writers make the same mistake. HEY, it's imaginary so I don't want or need a very detailed description of how the imaginary systems work; it's tedious. The book is worth a read!
This time round, we have a group of humans and aliens, all fighting a new pillaging alien race The team and the ship have far too many similarities to the "Omega Force" series of books and the storyline has been so many times previously it's almost a deriguour for sci-fi authors With all that said, Mark does an excellent job of making it interesting, we have the bad guys that are so despicable you have to hate them and you have the USP, that turn out to be devious themselves The side stories and characters are interesting and it's obvious there is a lot more to learn about them all
Prior to reading this I read the Star Force series which was written a while back as an extension to the Scrapyard series. It left you hanging in several areas so I was thinking that the author might fill in some of those blanks, but not so. This book starts with more questions and all new characters with the exception of Mollie. The story starts with an all new alien enemy that likes to east humans and they of course are headed to Earth :-) Our newly assembled team have to save Earth. OK story but I find myself missing the previous series characters.
While sci-fi is built around undiscovered and unknown concepts, the way in which those subjects are explored in this book just left me at a loss. I made it more than halfway through before the illogical jumps left me stranded. I’m not sure there was an outline or overall design plan for this book and if there was, it was lost before the halfway point. Not one of Mr. McGinnis’s better efforts.
Excellent read, enjoyed the story to the end, when the next book coming out? This was one of the best books I've read in a long time. 75years young liked all the people and their back storys
I enjoyed the whole thing I would recommend this book to all of my friends.75 years young.let me know when the next book coming out.
Uprising never let me down!-Absolutely Riveting story line
The story while not a continuation of the series, it did contain characters from before. A great story continues. Cannot wait until the next episode of these series
We find young Mollie getting a new crew together to fight a new enemy. But she has to start from scratch. With the alliance that both her father and grandfather built and commanded gone, can Mollie rebuild.
There are very few carryover characters or storyline for this book. Still not sure why Sonin introduced and why several chapters devoted to this character. May read future reviews on next book before I devote the time.
I truly thought this was a good story, and as I said, a new twist on an old subject. Always nice to see someone that has a new view and an old storyline. I hope you all enjoyed as much as I did.
I'm very excited for this new series of books based on an older series. I read both the scrapyard books and starwatch so when I saw this came out I just had to read it. Can't wait to book 2!
