Maxine Henri is a contemporary romance author who infuses her stories with steamy passion and complex characters. When she's not crafting stories that will have you swooning, she can usually be found sipping on a cup of black tea while reading a good book or traveling to new destinations.
Maxine believes that stories matter. They facilitate emotional journeys, inspire and entertain. And when it comes to books and fiction, stories are a great escape and probably the most beneficial addiction on this planet.
Her billionaire romances are the perfect escape, offering a taste of luxury and adventure. Maxine introduces heroes who may have a dark past, but are always balanced by a lighter side. And her leading ladies? They're strong, independent women who may be a little broken, but always find their way to love.
I love marriage of convenience romances and this was so good. Baldo and Brook’s second chance of love was everything and the spice was so good. This is the first book I read by this author and I can’t wait to read the others in the series.
I was excited to read this book because it had my favorite trope: marriage of convenience but in my opinion it was just okay. I feel like I did lack some understanding of the main and supporting characters as I have not read any of the other books in the series.
I also did not connect with either of the main characters, Baldo and Brook. Baldo and Brook grew up together as stepsiblings (not blood related) and fell in love as teenagers but were forced to go their separate ways. Fast forward 10 years later they are back in each other’s lives due to unforeseen circumstances. Although they were in their late 20s I felt as if they were still stuck at 18, and were very immature. The lack of communication also frustrated me. All this would have been avoided if they talked atleast once in the 10 years they ignored each other. Also Baldo would just get angry at Brook and leave the country without telling her where he was going. He was cold and domineering, while Brook was annoying, especially her inner dialogue. Also, there is a reason while Brook didn’t meet up with Baldo 10 years ago, and instead of talking about it the author just hints at it and makes you infer what happened. I would have liked a little bit more detail to the story to feel Brooks emotions. Also, Brook has been in some toxic relationships in the past and I believe she was in one with Baldo too. It didn’t seem healthy to me, especially with the domination and stalking. Overall, it was a okay ready and maybe I would have liked it better if I read more of the previous books in the series. I did feel like the last 3rd of the book was better and was easy to get through and to keep reading.

Reckless Vow is part of the Reckless Billionaire series but is totally readable on its own and packs a serious punch of passion and heartache. ❤️🩹
Brooke and Baldo's love story is like forbidden fruit – juicy, intense, and oh-so-tempting. 🍎💔 Their chemistry jumps off the pages, pulling you right into the whirlwind of their romance. And let me tell ya, it's a wild ride! 🌪️ As they navigate through their ups and downs, you can't help but root for them.
But what really sets this book apart is its perfect mix of intense feels and steamy romance. 🔥 The sexy scenes? They're scorching hot, but there's also this beautiful tenderness that makes you go "aww" between the steamy bits. 😍 And when they finally get their happily-ever-after? Cue the happy tears! 😭
It's the kind of book that sticks with you, making you believe in hope and a brighter tomorrow. 📚❤️
She did it again! I love these books! This is the second one I read and I'm going to start another one. I love Brook and Baldo story!!! There some twist in there about their past that is really sad, but it makes you understand everything they did to get to the point that they are at! I love this series, it can be read as a standalone but you meet the other characters in the book. I can't wait to read the rest of them!
This was our first Maxine Henri novel and it won’t be our last. We fell so hard for these characters. Baldo and Brook were just so likable. They were the ultimate second chance couple. They both shared demons from the past, and to see them work through everything and just fall more in love with each other was outstanding. Releasing June 20th we highly recommend adding this to your TBR. Enjoy!
This was a very unsatisfying book and I can’t exactly point out the biggest reason why. I found we were told things rather than shown quite a few times. The major conflict points we weren’t given the full story and emotions. I was left wanting quite a bit
I love reading marriage of convenience but this novel also includes a taboo of stepbrother/stepsister. The way the author has written it is really good.

Baldo and Brook are just utter perfection. I loved how much they dismissed their feelings like they weren’t totally and undeniably In love with each other still after 10 years apart.
This book is spicy, shows taboo, lust and angst. Please check the author's website for TW.
The chemistry and tension between Brook and Baldo was intensely amazing. Their relationship was a bit dark but they have my heart.
At some point in the book, i really wanted both of them to be locked in a room and talk. The forced proximity really made them work underlying feelings.
Every time Baldo used the phrase “my wife” I was kicking in the air. This is my favorite word. It is a good read. Do go and grab it.

I do love a good marriage of convenience book and the premise of this one sounded great but for me it didn't quite capture my interest like I wanted it too.
This is the story of Brooke and Baldo who are step-siblings but fall in love at a young age. They are supposed to run away together when she is 18 but for certain reasons it never happened. Brooke thinks Baldo left her behind and Baldo thinks Brooke abandoned him in favour of her family. The book starts 9/10 years later where Brooke and her siblings have been told they need to marry in order to get an inheritance from an estranged Grandma or it will go to some questionable charitable organisations. Brooke is the only one who is single having had only toxic boyfriends in the past. Baldo turns up out of the blue and offers to marry her and the story pretty much starts from here with the revelations about what really happened the night they were supposed to run away together.
I struggled to feel the true connection between these two. I think I missed the background to their relationship and we could have benefitted more from a few flashbacks of pivotal moments in their history. We know little to nothing about Baldo's past other than he owns some clubs but there is very little mentioned about what he has done in the 10 years and I think that would have given more depth to his character. What I also did not enjoy hearing was how much he enjoyed pleasuring woman (I don't want to hear about my H with anyone else and this was mentioned on multiple occasions). We get a little more information about Brooke's past but it still feels like this was brushed over too especially the traumatic incident which happened to her. While I didn't want it in detail I felt too little was said about it and much of it was how it affected Baldo and not Brooke!
I did however love the plot line of him stalking her over the years!
Overall I enjoyed the story and I will definitely read more from this author but it wasn't a favourite of mine.
I was intrigued about this one after the way it ended in the last book. Brook and Baldo are the babies of the family. Incase you haven't read the series they are step siblings. Although they grew up together, they both have had a different relationship to others. 10 years ago something happened and they lost the love of their lives. It was a very sad story and difficult at times. So when Brook and her sisters have to marry for their inheritance their late grandma left, she is stuck. By pure coincidence Baldo turns up too after 10 years. And offers to fake marry her. This is pure torture for both because of their past. My heart hurt that they lost so much because of others, at times their future didn't look like would happen. These two were so in their head, even I was starting to go crazy. Both never forgot the other and their life was carved out because of it. Baldo was still as obsessed and watched her from afar. He was so confident and a pleasure Dom. He has one rule only. Brook was so strong but she never realised it. She was very hard on herself, for making something out of herself after what she endured. I loved that she was strong enough (eventually) to be vulnerable and tell Baldo about something that happened. After truth came out from both sides, I think things should have progressed from there and that one rule should have been removed. But he was a coward in that sense, he kept going back and forth with his feelings. I get it, the barriers from the family society, past and fear of heartbreak but still so frustrating. Then when he does break the rule, it was worth it though. I'm a hopeless romantic to a fault haha. The spice was super hot as always Maxine does write it with class. There is a primal kink too. Loved seeing the whole family and their relationship and her 2 best friends. This series may be over but I sense the 2 bestie will be getting a story each soon.
This book was a forbidden second chance marriage of convenience romance. Ten years ago Brooke and Baldo were secretly together and when their parents found out it changed everything for them. They each went their separate ways and are now seeing each other again after all this time. Brooke is already struggling about how her family perceives her. She is the youngest of her sisters and they all have romantic partners so when her grandmother's inheritance forces her and all her sisters to get married she's unsure what to do since she's the only one alone. Shockingly Baldo walks right into their home unknowing she would be there and hears the situation and decides to propose. I don’t want to give too much away but as they start to spend more time together things begin to heat up and truths start coming out, but they are not the same people they use to be ten years ago and would their family ever accept them being together?
This book may have some triggers for you so I recommend reading TWs. I liked that Brooke talks about how she has had a lot of therapy over the years and continues to speak with her therapist.
This book is part of a series and it’s pretty deep in but you don’t need to read the previous books to enjoy this one. As I was reading I wanted to know more about the other couples and realized that I missed out on learning so much more about the family and all of the romances so I plan to go back and catch up. Additionally I am SOOO ready for both Saar and Celeste's romance stories to happen so I'll have to keep an eye out for that!
Why you will love this book: 🔥Marriage of convenience 🔥Billionaire 🔥Stepbrother 🔥Second chance 🔥Overprotective, obsessed hero 🔥No 3rd act breakup 🔥My wife 🔥Who did this to you? 🔥Angst, banter and steam 🔥Standalone
Reckless Vow by Maxine Henri completely took me by surprise—it's not often I dive into taboo romances, especially step-sibling dynamics, but this one had me hooked from the start. Brook and Baldo's story is a blend of forbidden love, unexpected twists, and undeniable chemistry that made it impossible to put down.
The premise, centered around Brook and Baldo navigating their newfound relationship under the unusual clause of their grandmother's will, added a thrilling layer of suspense and intrigue. I found myself rooting for them despite the challenges they faced, including the pressure to marry for their inheritance.
Maxine Henri crafted a dark romance that hit all the right notes for me. It had my favorite tropes—billionaire romance, marriage of convenience—and the spice level was off the charts. Each plot twist kept me on the edge of my seat, eager to see how Brook and Baldo would navigate their complex feelings amidst the secrecy and forbidden nature of their relationship.
What impressed me most was how effortlessly I slipped into the story. The pacing was perfect, making it a quick and addictive read that I devoured in one sitting. Alongside Brook and Baldo, the supporting characters like Brook's loyal friends Celene and Saar added depth and humor, leaving me eager for their own stories.
I'm grateful to Maxine Henri and Good Girls PR for the opportunity to read this ARC. Reckless Vow is a book that challenges conventions and delivers a thrilling, emotional ride that romance lovers won't soon forget. I can't wait to see what Maxine Henri has in store next!
This series has just kept getting better and better. I am utterly obsessed with Maxine's books. They are always so great to read, and I can never stop putting them down. This book really topped off how amazing the series has been. With the tropes in this book, it was sure to be a success.
Ever since the end of the last book, when we see what Reckless Vow would be about, I have been so excited to read it, and getting to read it before it's released is so good. The tropes in this book were amazing, to say the least, I am a sucker for step-sibling romance when it's done well, and it was for this book.
Our main characters are Brook and Baldo, they had a relationship 10 years prior to when the book is set and everything reignites when Baldo offers to marry Brook as she must be married to be granted access to her money. Just all of the tropes that went with these characters suited them all so well and just made it a book everyone should read, and although it can be read as a standalone I definitely recommended reading the other books in the series to know who the characters are and well they are great anyway.
This book had such a great plot, and I loved following it along. This book had me in all of the feels and was very spicy, which made it so good. I was rooting for the characters as soon as the book started, and although it took some time, it was definitely worth it. All of the books of Maxine's that I have read have been amazing. She is definitely a talented author, and I can't wait to see and read what she writes next.
I’m loving all things Billionaire romance and this book didn’t disappoint. As soon as I saw the tropes marriage of convenience and step brother I was intrigued. It was an enjoyable read and I was hooked. There were some very spicy scenes in this book🫠😮💨
Baldassare (Baldo) Cassinetti 🔥 he was an ultra obsessive BBF 💯 . The push and pull between him and Brooklyn was intense. They are soul mates who get a second chance in their relationship due to some unfortunate incidents that separates them in the past . I enjoyed their reconnecting and how they navigated around who they had become as adults and dealing with the circumstances they faced.
There were a few gaps for me in the book thou that I wished had more context and details like his nickname for Brook where did that come from.
The supporting characters were fun to read I liked her group of friends and I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of them.
This is book 7 in the Reckless Billionaires series but can be read as a stand-alone. The other characters from the other books do interconnect in this book so you might enjoy it better if you read the other books in the series as there are some minor spoilers from the other books.

TROPES: BILLIONAIRE STEP SIBLINGS PLEASURE DOM FORBIDDEN ROMANCE SECOND CHANCE MORALLY GREY MMC OBSESSED MMC TOUCH HER AND DIE PRIMAL PLAY
If you have not read the others in the series STOP...go and do that, then come back and see me :) I say this, since I was unaware this was BOOK 7 IN THE SERIES. However, as I was reading and all the other characters were interacting, I got the feeling like I was missing out...I WAS NOT WRONG.
Now that you are caught up, this story was FIRE. The only real thing I was not a fan is Baldo's name. It is not a bad name by any means, but it is not one I can envision screaming whilst in the throws of ecstasy like Brook did.
I LOVE Baldo though...truly. I loved his and Brook's story. Anymore, I am ALL about taboo romances, and this was wonderful. Brook;s character is so resilient and what made her become this was harsh. Not hard to read, but there is SA talked about. Baldo, bless his heart wants to right all of the wrongs that happened while they were apart (not telling you why that is though..sorry!)
Baldo's character is what I think most of us want in an MMC..AND he is a pleasure dom to boot..sigh...swoon. I was not sure I would really be into that, but the way Maxine wrote him and those scenes and how he speaks to Brook....goodness.
Overall, LOVED this book and I think once I am able to read the rest, I will love them too. I am sucker for a universe and Maxine is giving that in spades.
The hero being called Baldo is such a crime against him, I can't even start! Why in gods name did the author do that to him AND the readers? And why wasn't this vetoed by the alpha/beta readers?! They really must have hated him. That glaring issue apart, the book had some good parts - Baldo (can't believe I had to write that name as for the MMC!!) and Brook had chemistry. Their backstory, though glossed over and aluded to briefly, was good. What was lacking though was the unrequited love feelings of pain. I expected this to gut me but instead of hurting me in my feels, it just brushed against my feels. It definitely has potential but it was not deep enough for the subject matter at hand. Also, the fact that this father character thinks the boy he's raised since childhood could hurt his daughter and basically chuck him out without any concern for him is doing my head in. Like it was such a leap of imagination. And this mom of his is a pussy. She did nothing throughout the book but waste page space. The author was for sure rage baiting in the conclusion because Mr Baldo finds Brookes rapist but she doesn't even want to press charges and spews some pseudo zen stuff like oh I forgave myself. Bitch what? You want to leave your park at out there to rape others and then try asking the hero who has gone and done actual work to find said rapist to let bygones be bygones? Overall, it was an okay read if you disregard the conclusion. I would have liked more depth, a better thought out/written conclusion and more importantly a better MMC name.
I waited kinda patiently for Brooklyn and Baldo's book, and I was not disappointed. I devoured this book as soon as it hit my Kindle. This book is a contemporary romance with a stepbrother/stepsister enemies to lover romance. This book is part of the Reckless Billionaires Series and can be read as a standalone, but I recommend starting at the beginning of this series. I am obsessed with this series and love the world Maxine Henri has created. The storyline is original, page-turning, and had me all up in my feels for the main characters. This book is filled with secrets, drama, angst and spice. The characters are complex, with a heartbreaking past and an undeniable chemistry. I laughed, cried, and fist-pumped a few times throughout this book.
Brooklyn is a free spirit, she is loyal and is guarded when it comes to her life. I thought she was stubborn, witty, and determined to get what she wanted out of life. Baldo was intense, broody, obsessed, and a total Alpha. I loved his dominance and possessiveness when it came to Brooklyn. Their banter was comical and their chemistry was off the hook and was like a powder keg just about to explode and when it did it was epic. My heart broke for what they both went through while apart, but loved their fight and will to get what they both wanted. I am so excited to see what Maxine Henri brings next in this series. -By Brooke
✨ I received this book as an ARC for my honest review✨
Rate: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just wow. Maxine has done it once again and I have found another amazing FMC, Brook, that I love! While this series is 7 books in, I have only read the last 3 books and the way I devour these books is no joke. I definitely will be signing up for any future books! Let’s get right into it now.
God this couple! I loved them so much that I also wanted to smack them upside the head a few times! Brook and Baldo have trouble with communication and watching them hurdle that together made me so happy. I’m a sucker for communication lol sue me! Right from the first chapter, you could cut the tension between Brook and Baldo with a knife. But you could also feel the chemistry between them and their build-up made everything EXPLODE.
I loved their inner monologue, which showed how much they cared for one another. And when they slowly opened up to one another it just made me melt. I love Brook since she reminds me a lot of myself and that she just wanted to fit in with her family and have someone actually SEE her. I loved that she was unapologetic herself, everyone just assumed she loved to party but no one knew what a badass she really was! Except for Baldo 🤭🥰 IYKYK
I definitely would recommend this WHOLE series! I’m so excited to see what's next in store for the girls!!
Brook's estranged grandmother's inheritance had one stipulation. All her granddaughters had to be married in order to receive the inheritance. For Brooke, that was one major problem seeing how she was majorly single. That was until her step-brother Baldo Cassinetti stepped in and offered to be her fake husband. No one knew about the past they shared together. A past that would be considered forbidden. Yet they are stepbrother and stepsister getting married. Will they be able to keep the past in the past and fake their marriage for a year? Or will they completely destroy their family?
Reckless Vow is book seven in the Reckless Billionaire series. I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but I loved this book and had no issues with following along with the plot. I loved Baldo and Brook's forbidden, second chance romance. These two loved each other as teens, but unforseen circumstances ripped them apart, causing them to not see each other for ten years. Both of them lived those years hating each other. Then, when they are brought back together and enter a marriage of convience, all their old feelings start to surface. A lot of this book has the miscommunication trope, which I'm not a huge fan of, yet it still worked for me in this one. I kept rooting for these two to finally find a way to just open up and talk and just let their feelings out.
"Reckless Vow by Maxine Henri is a mesmerizing addition to the Reckless series that will leave readers enthralled from start to finish. Henri's skill in crafting multi-dimensional characters shines through as she brings Brooklyn and Baldo to life with authenticity and depth.Their journey is marked by sizzling chemistry and emotional highs and lows, making their evolution from conflict to connection incredibly satisfying. Set against a vividly described backdrop, the narrative is both engaging and immersive, pulling readers into the intricate dynamics of their relationship.Henri’s writing is as captivating as ever, seamlessly blending passion, suspense, and heartfelt emotion. 'Reckless Vow' not only delivers a powerful romance but also explores themes of redemption, trust, and the transformative power of love. Fans of the Reckless series will be delighted with this new installment, and newcomers will find themselves quickly engrossed.A true testament to Henri's storytelling prowess, 'Reckless Vow' is a must-read for romance lovers seeking a tale with depth, heart, and unforgettable characters. Five stars!
Let me start off my saying I went into this book 100% blind.. I didn’t read the tropes or the blurb, and boy was I in for a surprise. Before this I had never read any taboo romances and when you add in that it’s between step-sibling well color me shocked!! However, it was so good… I started reading and couldn’t stop.. well I did pause a few times because I had to ask myself if I read what I just read correctly lol… Brook and Baldo's are step brother and sister, they fell in love with each other as teenagers, and right when they were about to run off together something horrible happens, but neither of them knows what happen to the other person.. so they both are holding on to anger/hate for ten years.
Brook grandmother put a clause in her will, they gave them the opportunity to rekindle what they once had, and let me tell yall something I never in my life thought I would be rooting for a brother and sister to get and stay married but here we are! I enjoyed the pacing and the story building in this book, and it had just the right amount of spice mixed in with romance.
As I stated this was my first time ever reading a dark romance, but it had everything you need in a book, plus a little forbidden romance, and some lite stalking.Oh yea I didn’t like how Brook sisters treated her at all, but I loved Celene and Saar.
Reckless Vows is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. This is marriage of convenience, step brother, second chance, billionaire romance that held my attention until the end. Baldo and Brooke's second chance at love came about when she was told that she had to be married to get her inheritance from her estranged grandmother and he turned up suddenly and agreed to step in and marry her.
These two grew up together and fell in love as teenagers but were forced to separate. She thought he left her behind, and he thought she chose her family instead of him, so them coming together nearly 10 tears later, was not all sunshine and roses.
I loved the chemistry they had which could be felt everytime they were together. The steamy scenes and intense feelings had me glued to the pages and I enjoyed seeing how their relationship unfolded. However I will admit, these two also frustrated me with their lack of communication and I really want to sit them down and make them talk to each other.
The story was well-written and was an entertaining read. It's the 7th book in the Reckless Billionaires series and I'll definitely be going back to read the others. I would recommend this novel to lovers of marriage of convenience romance.
Reckless Vow is the latest installment in the Reckless Billionaires Series. If you've read Reckless Bond, you already know how the story begins: Brook and her three sisters discover that their late grandmother left them an inheritance, but with one stipulation—they must each be married for a year.
While Brook's sisters are practically married, Brook starts to panic. That's when Baldo, her stepbrother, steps in to help by agreeing to marry her. As the story unfolds, we delve into Brook and Baldo's shared past from ten years ago. They had planned to run away together but were not accepted by their family. Brook didn't show up, and Baldo never came back for her.
During their fake marriage, they gradually open up to each other and eventually discuss that fateful night. Secrets are exposed, and true feelings emerge. To uncover just how juicy and dark these secrets are, you'll have to read the book. There's plenty of angst and spice, along with appearances from their brothers, sisters, and parents.
While many of their issues could have been resolved with better communication, that would have made for a less exciting story. This series keeps getting better, and I can't wait to see what's next!
Reckless Vows was a solid, lighter read with an engaging storyline that leaned just slightly into the taboo without ever feeling cringey. The fake marriage between Brooke and her stepbrother Baldo (yes, the name made me think of a dog too!) was born from family tragedy and old wounds, rather than shock value. Their relationship had real depth, rooted in a complicated teenage past and shaped by the expectations of a powerful, wealthy matriarch.
The book focused heavily on the characters navigating past trauma rather than playing up the “forbidden” angle, which I appreciated. Spice level was about a 3 — present enough to keep things steamy without overtaking the emotional development. I’d rate the character development between a 3 and 4. It wasn’t the most profound I’ve ever read, but definitely stronger than some and kept me invested in their journey.
Overall, Reckless Vows was enjoyable and what I’d consider light reading: not overly heavy but still touching on some emotional themes. If you’re in the mood for a slightly dramatic, fast-paced romance with a bit of heat and heart, this one’s worth picking up!

Ohhhhhhh, wow. This is my first Maxine Henri book and I am hooked! I know this was the last in the Reckless Billionaire Series, so obviously now I’ll be spending my time catching up there. It was totally fine to read as a stand alone though!!
This is a taboo, marriage of convenience, second chance, steamy but still mega sweet romance. Also the marriage of convenience was actually for Brook, our heroine, instead of the hero. I think that’s the first time I’ve read where the woman needs to get married to get her inheritance and I loved that twist! Brook is a feisty firecracker and strong woman, which is always awesome to read. Throughly enjoyed this book and getting a peak into the mind of this awesome author!!
Thank you to Maxine Henri and The Author Agency for the ARC this book!
I love a good forbidden romance and this book HIT THE SPOT. This book was so good I love a good billionaire and marriage of convenience and then throw in that they are step siblings and you have this book. This book is amazing. It will pull you in from the first page. This book is about Baldo and Brooke. Their chemistry is so intense and it will literally have you kicking your feet with joy for these 2. Their romance is full of ups and downs. Brooke needs a fake husband to get her grandmother's inheritance, and she knows that Baldo will be perfect for this. They have a forbidden history that happened some years ago. When he calls her “my wife” you will literally melt on the spot. It can't get much better than “My Wife” if you ask me. I was sold on this book when I read the tropes, and I am so extremely glad that I got this book. I loved each and everything about this book. There wasn't anything about this book that I didn't like. This will be one book that I read over and over again without getting bored with it. 10/10 recommend.
This book gave me all the feels!! Baldo is absolutely the dominant book boyfriend every girl dreams of. Forced marriage (sorta), Taboo-step siblings, Trauma, 2nd chance at love, Erotic, Forgiveness, Discovery, Alpha Dominant, Happily ever after. I love this family and watching it grow has been a joy. Brook is insecure because of trauma and so many misunderstandings. Baldo has made choices in his life because of the same misunderstandings. A parent misjudging something changed the trajectory of their lives. Luckily, fate stepped in. Brook found the one person who actually looked at her and saw her when her family never bothered. I’m not sure the family ever really paid much attention to Baldo’s absence either. Even with all the heart break of their pasts, the two never truly let go of each other, especially Baldo, and were able to find their way back. Seriously hot scenes of a Dominant Alpha who has found who he will go to his knees for, and the women who has found the man she can trust, this story is everything!!!
I adore Maxine and her Reckless Billionaire Series and this was the perfect conclusion to a ton of spectacular stories! It’s a rollercoaster of emotions swooning, fuming, steamy, crying, gut punches and every where in between. Brook and Baldo’s story is epic, forbidden, and smoldering. Their chemistry puts the others in the series chemistry’s to shame and they were hot! He is the protector, the obsessed man only for her. She is strong after being broken and loves fiercely. They do not have an easy road to their relationship but it’s breathtakingly beautiful! She does everything bigger and better in this story and that’s saying a lot because all her books are phenomenal like this series lives rent free always in my mind. I’m sad to see the series end but I loved all their stories and HEA!!!

Brook and Baldo are your quintessential "they were made for each other" couple, and Maxine Henri, you, my friend, are a mastermind. From the very first chapter, the tension between them is palpable, stemming from a love that began years ago. Baldo surprises everyone, mostly himself and Brook, by proposing marriage. Their inner monologues reveal just how much they desire each other. Baldo, the quiet and brooding type, contrasts beautifully with Brook, who is strong and craves communication. In hindsight, they both needed and worked on this, making their journey even more compelling. Throughout the whole book, I found myself thinking, "Please just give in!" But the buildup? DAMN. Brook endures a horrible ordeal, sending Baldo on a mission to protect her at all costs. Their passion and consideration for each other are truly inspiring. This is one of my favorite marriage of convenience books, and I can't recommend it enough!
