I’ve been in love with my best friend, Garrett, for as long as I can remember. The moment I’ve been dreaming of for years has finally come and we collide with passion. After the moment passed, he began to act hot and cold, making me wonder if he really feels for me the way I do for him. Out of nowhere, Ransom, a charming valet attendant full of intrigue, begins to show interest in me after a chance meeting. I fall for him hard and fast, but he falls faster. Our relationship is effortless, until I find out he is keeping something from me, something dangerous. Now I’m torn between the feelings I still have for Garrett, and my love for Ransom. Can my love withstand the jealousy and rage of Garrett, or the secrets that Ransom keeps that may put me in jeopardy of losing more than him?
My decision might be made for me when suddenly I’m jarred awake as I am dropped not so gently on my back onto cold, hard concrete. My brain is foggy and I’m dizzy. And I gulp for breath that doesn’t seem to come. My body twitches from my lungs failing. Oh God! Am I going to die? Why can’t I breathe? Panic seizes my body and mind as my vision tunnels, and everything goes black.
Between the Secrets is the first book in The Between Series of interconnected standalones. Reading books in order is strongly suggested.

Ele Ford is a book nerd turned romance writer. She is from Las Vegas and is living out her own real-life romance with the best man ever. She enjoys reading, working out, listening to music, laying pool side, going on monthly date adventures with her husband, and spending time with her two amazing boys.
Very rarely do I give a romantic suspense 5 stars, but this one was great. There was great character development, especially between Garrett and Sadie. Their changes in their friendship felt very well thought out and written. Sadie and Ransom are such an amazing couple and I loved them. I feel like there was a perfect balance of thriller/suspense and romance. I was hooked from the very first page.

Normally with the first 50 pages of so, I know of if I'm going to keep reading or not, and I was beyond frustrated by I hit that 50 page mark because Garrett. Talk about a best friend from hell. I wanted to quit then, but then Ransom walked on stage and the story really took off with Ransom working a shady job(s) and Sadie struggling to keep up and then getting caught in the middle. The ending almost broke me and I'm glad they're getting their HEA.
This was a great suspense romance book. It keeps you on your toes. Just when you think you know, a twist happens. I can not wait for the next book. There is a HEA for the couple- Sadie and Ransom- in this book. It also sets up the second book which will be his fro End Noah and Celine.
I just recently started avidly reading as I have a hard time staying focused. This book was great, and didn’t fail to lose me once. I read it in two days as I needed to know what was happening. I can’t wait for the next book in the series! Great new author.
This was the first "spicy romance" novel I've ever read. Ford does a great job building the romance between Ransom and Sadie while weaving a compelling back story for these two characters. Her villain Cyrus is also a diabolical criminal. I'd be interested to see where she takes the series from here.
The suspense /storyline wasn't horrible, and I did enjoy that it lasted more than one chapter.
However, both of the main characters annoyed me in different ways, so that took a lot away. I'll be okay for a lifetime if I never have to read the word "gorgeous" or "darlin".
