Clayton and Joel had a history but a life changing accident got in the way. Years later, a disabled Joel and still hurting Clayton attempt to patch up their friendship and do something about their attraction. You could feel their love yet their actions seem a little erratic and non consistent. There also was not a lot of interaction with the other guys in the series. Joel seemed to have a lot of confidence and stability after being disabled which I thought was portrayed refreshingly. I received a copy of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my voluntary opinion.

This book was a great read, second in the series and an interesting journey to redemption for something you didn't even know happened. Joel is a likeable character trying to get what he has always wanted even with extreme difficulties.. Clayton is a bit troubled and never reconciled with his past wants. Read as these two sort their differences out and move forward towards a life together.

Possession Game is the second book in the Twin Cities U. series by Cecelia Storm.

Clayton Berry is a mountain of a man, playing on the TCU football team. Clay seldomly allows himself to be distracted on the football field… that is until he sees his old friend and first crush, Joel Ellis, on the field’s sidelines. As a youth from a hostile and broken family, Clay has relied on only himself for emotional support since his teen years. Yet, only Joel seemed to really understand what he was going through. But Joel is lost to him, and has been for some time. So, what the heck is Joel doing here?

Joel Ellis has loved Clay since they were kids. Together with their friends Annalese and Brianna, no one could stop them, it seemed. When Joel sustains a crippling injury in a car accident and loses use of his legs, he must make the best of any situation. Later, coming back as a university student at Twin Cities U. - as well as being a father to 4-year-old Isabella - Joel wants nothing more than to reconnect with Clay. Regrettably both men have a cart full of emotional baggage and misunderstandings between them from their youths that must be sorted out. But has too much water flowed under the bridge for them to finally act upon their teen infatuation with each other and make amends?

Possession Game is a wonderful romance full of young love and second chances. The plot is quite engrossing and, at times, almost mysterious…. as the reader learns exactly what went wrong in the past to tear Clayton and Joel apart. The plot is also imbued with intriguing elements that keeps the reader guessing as to WHY Clayton cannot open up emotionally to Joel and let him know what exactly is in his heart. I especially enjoyed the secondary characters in this book! Clayton’s athletic friends - especially Tobias, Owen and Tommy - along with Joel’s roommate Lily and old friend Annalese - all most certainly add a sense of drama to the plot, but also lend a sense of guidance and insight into their emotional problems. Together, they all help the guys to heal from their past wounds and look forward to the future.

A very thought-provoking and emotional novel… 4.5 stars!

3.5 stars...

This was a nice story, but I think it could have been better without so much added. I mean, we have an MC who is not only an athlete but who had an accident and was dissabled, although that did not stop him but he continued to be an athlete within his possibilities, to that we add that as a result of a hook up he had a daughter which he adopted so now he is a single parent, he plays a sport and aldo goes to college, and oh, just after the accident he lost the love of his life, although he doesn't know why said love left without saying anything just when he was in the hospital after his accident. Although later that becomes clear. Now, at the same time as all this, a few years pass and he sets out to recover his beloved. But another thing I don't understand is when in the past they had a relationship, because from what we read they were just best friends and Joel hooked up with one of their best female friends (something just physical to Joel but hey, they were f*ck buddies), behind Clay's back (although he and Clay at that time were just friends, I think? ) and Joel also had sex once with their other friend because she practically forced him and he felt sorry for her, also behind Clay's back. I mean, he had sex with everyone except Clay. And meanwhile we have Clay who was hurting... And now added to all that drama, in the present we also have other villains who want to ruin them. And well... That's kind of the story. I think if the author had made it simpler it would have been better. And clearer about what the relationship between them was like. The plot is interesting, but I would have liked it to focus more on one thing. For example: Was it necessary for him to be disabled? Well, it's an interesting topic and one rarely seen in books, so I'd leave it to that, but then, was it necessary for him to also have a daughter? And so the author keeps adding to it, and all that added together, it takes a lot away from the two MCs...

Well if you read this and think is a bit confused, that is how is felt when you read the story...

This is story about teen first love and a second chance on that love for the main characters (Joel and Clayton).

Joel and Clayton were best friends that love each other in high school but had not acted on it. They lost touch in high school due to interference from a jealous friend when Joel had an accident that left him disabled. Clayton leaves town heartbroken as he has been kicked out of his mom and stepdad house. 5 years have gone back and both of them are at their senior year in College when Joel (who did not forget Clayton) moves to become a student at Twin Cities University, which is Clayton’s college. Their reconnection is challenging, can they really trust each other and the love that they had? Can they adjust to the changes that have happened in the 5 years?

This story is grasping, you keep reading to see Joel and Clayton reconnect, get to know the who they are now, their family and friends. They fall in love again but need to face past misunderstandings as well as new issues that could actually break them for good. At the end love conquers and with the support of friends (past and new) they resolve these and get to be with each other at college.

I recommend this story for anyone wanting to read a young love story that conquers challenges. It was nice to see a story that invokes a disabled single parent (Joel) fighting for what he wants but keeping in mind his daughter safety and stability, Joel shows us that you can aim for the stars and reach them.

This is an easy-to-read, cozy, and not-complicated story about second chances set against the background of college football. The plot is straightforward without high tension or drama, yet compelling enough to keep the reader engaged throughout the book.
The narrative is descriptive and does not dwell deep under the surface of Clayton's troubled childhood or Joel's disability.
Clayton and Joel reconnecting after a few years of separation and misunderstanding is central to the storyline. They are likable and relatable, each with his own set of issues and challenges.
The writing is one of the best features of this work. Although the plot is simple, narrative descriptive, and absent of drama and angst, the author somehow manages to keep the story compelling and not bland. I wish the issue of Joel's disability and the context of his previous relationship with Clayton would be given more attention and focus.
It is sometimes challenging to understand the context of their relationship with other characters in the story. Reading earlier books in the series might be beneficial to follow the side stories and roles of other characters, like Maddox and Annalese.
This is a good choice for readers who enjoy simple, easy-to-read, and yet compelling enough stories not packed with complex and emotionally draining issues, angst, and drama.
I received this book as an ARC. The review reflects my honest and unbiased opinion.

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

Possession Game is the second book in the Twin City U series by Cecelia Storm. Clayton is in his senior year and thrilled to be football, the game he loves. He never expects his highschool crush, Joel, to come to practice one day and say he’s there for him. But Joel’s life is far from simple and Clayton is faced with accepting the complicated life Joel leads now or turning away from the man he cares deeply about.

Clayton and Joel were very cute as they tried to “take things slow” but failed miserably. Their bond rekindles instantly and Joel immediately wanted to embrace Clayton into his little family. The two have a white hot physical connection and just enjoy each other’s presence in and out of the bedroom. Their history is complicated with the accident and all its repercussions.

The Twin City U series follows the Tate Camp gang finding love and Clayton is no exception. He manages to fall for the same man again when Joel reappears in his life. This is a sweet second chance romance with just enough angst to pull at your heartstrings without it getting to be too much. With Joel’s adorable found family and the Tate Camp boys coming through to help each other out again this is a sweet college second chance romance.

3.5 stars for Joel and Clayton’s second chance.

Clayton and Jay’s Story . . .

** 3.5 Stars **
This story seems to have a bit too much of bad things going on that make it seem like a stretch for the reader to believe. I’m not sure whether I figured it all out or not. Clayton is a football player in college now who never forgot the guy he cared about years ago in high school who was disabled in an accident. Clayton was not given a reason for the way things ended, but it may have been lies and jealousy at the root of it. Clayton was kicked out of the house by his mother and stepfather, so there was no further chance to find out what was going on with Joel. But 5 years later and attending college, a new guy that shows up turns out to be Joel who has decided to come back to Clayton. Joel has a daughter now as well. It comes down to the two of them being honest and learning to trust and accept each other after all that happened. Can they have a future together? Or is it too late to deal with all the broken pieces?

Adulting, is tricky! It's no longer high school! Clayton and Joel, get a second chance at getting it right. When you're young, it's easy to miss signals and get stuck in miscommunication quicksand especially when helped by a 'friend'. A few years later, in college, Joel, transfers in with the express purpose of reuniting with Clay. Clay is working real hard to forget his prior relationship with Joel, when Joel suddenly reappears in his life. Joel, had an accident in high school that put him in a wheel chair. While in recovery rehab, Annalese is born and Joel becomes a Dad. Reigniting their friendship and hoping for more seems to be an uphill battle. Add in more misunderstandings a little intimidation and a bit of skulduggery and you have more challenges. Fun story. Nice guys, interesting supporting characters, delightful kids. Nicely done! Clayton and Joel have a complicated history and are now virtually strangers, so when Joel turns up unexpectedly at Clayton’s team practice, Clayton is thrown off-balance. Somehow these two have to find a way to trust each other. To do that, unexpected truths have to be revealed, and to be honest, it’s sad that they’ve lost the time they have, and specifically for the reasons they did.
Some of Clayton’s decisions are not the best, and he has some maturing to do to cope with the new situation, which, admittedly has to be a shock to him.
More of what is going on with Maddox and his grandfather is revealed but not in its entirety, so I’m waiting on another story there, but I did like the little glimpses of the real Maddox that we see here.
Clayton and Joel manage to work through current events, learn the truth about the past and find their HEA at the end.

This book is another good entry to the series. It has a bunch going on so keep up LOL. We have Clayton who plays football for Twin City U that still has feelings for the boy who broke his heart years ago. Joel is the boy that broke his heart but there were reasons. When the newbie is introduced to the team, it is Joel, Clayton's Joel! There is also another story that involves both MC's along with other friends from the past that are also on the team. There are pranks and families that play havoc with the hopes of Joel getting Clayton back in his arms where he belongs. There may also be another "little" speed bump in the plans too. Grab this second book and expect some twists and turns on the road to the HEA for these guys.

I was excited to read this and continue to learn more about our friends from Camp Tate that we'd met in book 1.

I really enjoyed the MCs Joel and Clayton. How they interacted and their past trauma/roadblocks were understandable. The side characters from Camp Tate and Joel's family were fun additions to the story.

I found the pacing of this book to be a little uneven and there were some plot points that I would've liked to see developed on the page. The Twin City U books have an over arching mystery plot, and we did get some develop on our known "villain" Maddox and actual villain Thaddeus which was good -- felt like it could be a set up for great things in character dynamics between our boys from Camp Tate!

2.5⭐️
I enjoyed the two main characters and their second chance story. I also appreciated how the author dealt with Joel’s accident and resulting disability. Joel is a strong character and I liked how the author demonstrates how resilient and determined he is. There was unfortunately too much going on which took focus off Clayton and Joel getting to know each other again. For me, there was too much time given to side characters like the with drama Brianna and Annalese, which I didn’t enjoy. The showdown with Maddox and his grandfather at the end also felt a little anticlimactic. I liked the premise and the two main characters, but wasn’t invested in the rest of the plot.

A SECOND CHANCE LOVE ❤️

A horrible motor vehicle accident situation separated two high school friends Clayton and Joel who had crushes on each other but never took it further and now five years later their paths cross at Twin City U…

This was a sweet, low angst story with more elements of mystery regarding Maddox and his grandfather the Dean among the two would be lovers finding happiness and a family but….

Their journey is riddled with old insecurities, surprises, pranks gone wrong and stalking villains but hopefully this time around they will stick it out and fight for each other!

I can see Maddox is going to be a dark horse but next up in the friend group we will have Isaac ….

Book 2 in the Twin City U series is a second chances, football (I just KNEW each book was going to feature a different sport) novel with an overall HFN with the overarching series but an HEA for this couple. Slightly angsty (which let’s be honest, I love), Joel and Clayton have to get through their past in order to find their future. Major props for an MC in a wheelchair AND who is a single dad - neither plotlines are ones that I would typically seek out but since I’ve been eagerly awaiting Storm’s second novel in this series expectations were still high and they did not disappoint. Much like book one there were elements where I had to suspend my disbelief but I can live with that. Overall 4.5 stars rounding up

3.5 stars...This is a nice story with fine, flawed characters. It takes a while to get the whole backstory out, since it's a second chance romance. I'm not a fan of the miscommunication trope, though, so the whole reason they need a second chance was just annoying to me. Sorry, your best-friend-and-maybe-more was in a horrific car accident but someone who isn't them tells you they don't want to see you so you just leave? Even for emotional teenagers that seems far fetched. Joel had a lot going on in his life to be ready to start a new relationship, and Clay had his own issues with Maddox... if you can get past those minor irritants the author needed to have to set up the story the way she wanted it, this is a good read.

Finally Right Time

Joel and Clayton definitely had history to work through. With the manipulative actions of one person, Clayton leaves thinking he wasn't wanted. Joel never had any type of closure, and now he wants a second chance. Reunited, they are able to start a beautiful relationship that includes Joel's daughters Bella. It takes some effort and working through some hiccups along the way. They are finally able to work everything out and find their happiness. Waiting eagerly for the next in the series.

This book takes two former close friends and reunites them. There’s other past friends as well but they aren’t as easily reconnected which plays well into the story. The past is revisited and with care the future has its clouds removed and things look brighter. The drama in the book pushes the story into a different direction from simply a romance which adds additional depth to the story. Interesting characters, both villains and heroes, combine efforts and make the book an engaging read. A HeA closes the book nicely. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

At first I didn't think this was very reflective of the holiday season, but on second thought I believe it's perfect. It's about friendships, life, growing, changing, love, and family. It is exactly what the season is about , and it ends with forgiveness and love. I liked the inclusion of someone with a disability. Real life is messy and imperfect
just like these guys were messy and imperfect but striving for an even keel. Great read .

This is the first story Ive read by Cecelia, and it was an easy story.... though I was a Little confused intitally by Claytons old friendship with Maddox and Joel not knowing him, as they too were old friends. Though this was cleared up quickly... I did like Clayton and Joel as couple and would have liked more scenes of Joels football matches and his friends/team mates.
Overall, I couldnt work out how this story was going until the end.

I enjoyed this. I don’t think it will be my favourite in the series but it was a good second book in this series. I liked the disability rep and how none of the characters were mean about it and there was no drama surrounding it. I liked Clayton and Joel together, and the little family they created with Bella, Jose and Lily. Seeing more sides to Maddox in this book was also really great and I’m super interested in what else we’ll see from him in the next book!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked that Joel and Clayton were able to get together after a friend's lies caused them to separate. This time they were able to fall in love. Unfortunately an overheard conversation has Thaddeus gunning for them. Thaddeus is truly evil and I hope he will face justice for all he's done soon. However it is Maddox who helps time time to stop Thaddeus from ruining things for Joel and Clayton.

This is the second book in this series and it’s a second chance at romance story, Joel and Clayton had feelings for each other but after an accident a devious friend’s lies pushed them apart, now they have a chance of being together again but they need to talk and get over old hurts first as well as Joel being a single father to little Bella, good read low angst with some action second chance romance story, I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.

Clayton and Joel were friends until Joel's car accident in high school. Due to certain circumstances that night, Clayton left town. Four years later, Joel shows up at Clayton's school. Joel is determined to win Clayton back.

I enjoyed this second chance love story. It is a standalone with a HEA.

I hope we get Maddix story. He sounds to have a very difficult background.

Joel and Clayton went to the same high school and had feelings for each other but kept them secret. A tragic accident happened to Joel and the next thing Clayton knew he was being pushed away.

Years later Joel’s back, and one of his goals is to win Clayton back.

I really enjoyed reading about these two. Their second chance was amazing and little Bella stole the show.

DNF at 42% - didn’t like these characters, Joel is so weird to me and not relatable or funny, or “charming” like the author is trying to force on you. These two characters have a history but the whole way they come back together is so bad. Seems like this was super rushed and there’s no communication between the two. Takes a lot for me to DNF - but this was just not good

This is such a wonderful second chance romance. The main characters, Clayton and Joel are very well balanced and the secondary characters build this story well. There is a bad guy but eventually he ends up with egg on his face. I worry the bad guy will get to feature again. this is such a great story! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
