FROM THE CLASSIC DISNEY FILM HERCULES - THE LORD OF THE UNDERWORLD FINALLY TAKES CENTER STAGE! Hades - the lord of darkness! The most deceitful and scheming of the Greek gods! The one god not invited to the weekly brunch at Mount Olympus! Obviously, a slight like this calls for the total destruction of the gods of Olympus. To make that happen, the hot-tempered ruler of the underworld needs to acquire the magical Golden Fleece of Colchis. Unfortunately, the Fleece is guarded by a sleepless dragon and soldiers made out of teeth, so Hades assembles a ragtag group of morally questionable adventurers to help him steal the Fleece before some dude named Jason and his Argonaut bros swoop in and ruin his perfectly logical plan. It's absolute chaotic hilarity courtesy of writer ELLIOTT KALAN (Spider-Man & The X-Men) and artist ALESSANDRO RANALDI (Zorro)!
Hades is my favorite Disney villain but this was the hardest comic for me to get through. The text was all over the place. It was super funny though. My only wish is that Jason didn't look like Kronk. I can't unsee it.
Tedious. The Scar and Maleficent series did a great job capturing their voices. In that way, Hades is depicted well... or at least consistent with the source material. But when EVERY character is frenetic, it's exhausting. When I look up Kalan's CV, I'm reminded how unsuited television comedy writers are for comics (in my opinion). He's extremely talented when his words are audible; much less so when they're visual.
I’m a big fun of The Flophouse podcast (and Be Podding You) and Elliott Kalan is a hilarious and smart guy. When I heard about this series it was only a matter time before I picked it up.
Smart and funny, as anticipated. Does just what it sets out to do and in such a fun way. Disney themed certainly, but funny takes on a few deep dives into Greek mythology as well. Excited to read #2!
Liked this just as much as the maleficent one! Cool take on the classic Disney Villain. With some great new characters mixed in. Read it in James Woods voice. Really great.
Nice start. Though icurus has already been shown in hercules so I guess this isn't connected to the 90s series. Though more of the original mythology has been involved.
Cute but lacks the charm of Hercules, which is far from my favorite Disney movie. Not good enough to be four stars but not bad enough to be two stars. I liked the art more than the storyline.
