AGATHA FROST, an Amazon bestselling author, has written over thirty mystery novels. She lives in the North West English county of Lancashire with her two cuddly beagles and one cat.
When Agatha isn’t writing, she loves reading head-scratching mysteries and thrillers, coffee, baking, and exploring her local countryside on long dog walks.
From a young age, Agatha devoured the great British murder mystery books and television shows, ample inspiration for her Peridale Café and Claire’s Candles series. She loves writing about family women who juggle their ordinary village lives with the challenges of amateur sleuthing.
Add in some good food, close friends and family, cute pets, and plenty of twists and turns, and you have a classic Agatha Frost mystery.
This was a cute cozy mystery blending two of the author's series. In this book, Claire, Ryan and his two children, and Claire's grandmother (of the Claire's Candle series) are off to Peridale to play in a lawn bowling contest. While in Peridale, they of course meet Julia (of the Peridale series) and get involved in a mystery.
I enjoyed seeing the two series merged, and liked having Claire and Julia get to know each other. The mystery was interesting, and I like where the book ends. Claire and Ryan's relationship has come a long way.
Claire, a crime solver in Northeast, journeys to Peridale for a bowls tournament. Worlds (and book series) collide. I did like this book, but I figured out the killer right off. And it was a little confusing with the characters from CLAIRE'S CANDLES mixing with those from PERIDALE CAFÉ, plus a handful of new characters. I found myself wishing for more time with the characters I knew.
Despite that, it was still a quick, fun read. Lots of twists and turns. Satisfying ending. Recommended for cozy mystery lovers, 16+.
In this book, Claire, Ryan, and Granny Greta, along with her friend, travel to the village of Peridale for a bowls tournament. Claire makes a new friend in Julia, of Julia’s Cafe. She dreams up a new candle called “Double Espresso” which captures the essence of the cafe.
They meet up with the bowls captain and he’s quite a nasty guy. Granny Greta gets into an agrument with him. Not long after, the captain is murdered. Now, Granny Greta is the prime suspect.
Thank goodness, Claire and Ryan are there to help figure out who killed the captain. When it comes out that the man was poisoned, the leads take Claire into the midst of the town’s dark secrets.
There are some sweet moments between Mrs. Beaton and Claire when she visits her in the elderly residential home. The themes of good vs. evil, kindness counts, and friendships are golden all figure prominently into this series.
4.5 stars! I loved this one, one of my faves in this series for sure. The crossover with Agatha’s Peridale series was really well done. I only read the first few of Peridale because I’m more of a Claire’s Candles girlie, but it was so fun to see all these characters get together. I thought the tense moments between Greta (the Northash granny) and Dot (the Peridale granny) and their ensuing rivalry was hilarious. I also really enjoyed Claire and Julia (the main character from Peridale) working together. And some moments with Mrs Beaton (I think that’s her name? Claire’s former neighbor) were really touching and special. The mystery itself was fun too, and felt very spring-y set around the bowls tournament. I hope there are some more crossover books in the future for these two series!
Agatha Frost has written a very fun crossover mystery bringing characters from her two cozy mysteries together for the first time. Claire and Julia meet and work together to solve a mystery set in Peridale. Claire’s grandmother, Greta, and Julia’s, Dot, are wary of each other but get to know each other better by the end of the book. It was fun to see some of Peridale’s characters, such as Evelyn, the B & B owner, and places in Peridale, through the eyes of an “outsider”. This is a thoroughly enjoyable read and I hope that there are more crossovers, both in Peridale and Northash, in the future.

I really was looking forward to this book because I absolutely love that Claire got to go to Parkdale and meet Jessie and Dot and the whole gang. Even though they all didn't seem to like each other in the beginning, they worked it out in the end. So it was great!! I'd love more books that intertwined!! Thanx for that!
Claire meets Julia for a smashing murder investigation (pardon the pun). It was great to see two of my favorite cozy mystery heroines team up to solve the case, and Mrs. Beaton’s return was more than welcome! I enjoyed the story and will be watching eagerly for the next installment.
I loved seeing all the characters in one book. I loved the whole story, but I especially fond of what I call " The back story" in these books. I also enjoy that I cannot figure out the " who done it,". I did feel that this was more a Claire's Candle book though, however I loved the book, and loved seeing Claire's relationship with Ryan move along.
Merging two series into one cute story gives you Clair and Julia solving a murder while a bowls tournament is underway. With plenty of suspects to delve into and battling grannies to contend with, this investigation takes many unsuspecting twist and turns before it all works out. Very enjoyable story.
I wasn’t very sure at first, I thought it was weird with Jesse & Barker not being very involved but one I got my head around it I loved it! Looking forward to the reverse fixture!!
As usual, there was nothing to dislike and I became a member of the Peridale community once again. Kept me spellbound and engrossed to the end. Loved the merging of characters and villages; I can't wait for the next adventure!
This crossover with Claire and Julia working together is one of the best reads in a good while. Also loved the interaction between Dot and Greta. And Mrs. Beacon is a STAR!!!
I normally struggle with cross-overs but I did enjoy Northash mets Peridale installment. Claire and Julia complimented each other wonderfully. Can't wait for the next one.
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
This book was one of the best in this series. It was so great to combine Claire and Julia from Peridale. Good to see Mrs Beaton and her surprise about the house.
Having read all of the adventures with Julia's Peridale Cafe, it was funny to see the merge of Claire's posse into Julia's, with Julia mostly taking the backseat (unusual for her but understandable given the situation going on in her personal life at the time). Particularly given the hostilities between Dot and Claire's crowd-I recommend both series, they are fun, engaging, and perfect to lose one's self in.
