I don’t know why this book isn’t more popular, I swear..I confess, it’s not my kind of read but I bet A LOT of ppl would find it awesome because it’s the perfect 50 shades of gay!
It has the perfect vulnerable, hurt, angsty, alpha male, who is rich, hot, and classy who acts like a douche but he’s actually not a douche, he’s just troubled, traumatized and has baggage, A LOT of baggage. But he’s caring with the other MC a la Cinderella style. The other MC has baggage too but a smidge lighter. Actually no, he’s fucked up too. And poor . But with a good heart. I’m not making fun, I swear. This really is a good book and I’m totally serious. The writing is pretty good, the smut is 🔥 and though it says it’s dom/sub book it’s actually more talking than doing the hardcore BDSM so don’t get scared by the BDSM part. It’s angsty and a bit heavy and Sebastian, the Dom , is hard to like sometimes but Colt makes up for it because, unlike the spineless chick from 50 shades of gray , our MC here has a strong personality and he’s so so so endearing and lovable, so fierce and loyal..I loved him. The sex is dirty and 🔥 but not in a porny kind of book I usually dislike where you start to skim because they fuck like rabid bunnies..The relationship is complicated and emotional.
The only thing that bothered me is that sometimes the tragedy is too freaking much and a liiiiittttle OTT.
I really recommend this book if you like a bit of dark, a bit of fucked up and a bit of complicated characters .
I must give kudos to the author for managing not to turn it into a cheesy-fest. I really recommend it. I will give it 4 stars because it really is a good book even though I’m not into emotional stunted MCs or Dom/sub dynamic.

This book was unlike anything I’ve read before. Jen really went there. This was emotional, intense and raw. There were two incredible MCs with dark secrets and deep shame. I won’t say they were damaged. They were survivors. They overcame extreme trauma to build meaningful lives that positively impacted others. They also felt alone and even unlovable in many ways.
Sebastian and Colt were so different but also incredibly similar. They gave so much to others without any expectations. They gave so freely and willingly. However, Sebastian had built (almost) impenetrable walls. He kept everyone at arms length. But he did this out of severely misplaced guilt and fear he would hurt others. Whereas, Colt was waiting to find that person deserving of his time and love. He protected his heart from potential loss.
What would have appeared as a power imbalance was shown to be quite the opposite. Each man wore a mask of sorts, whether they intentionally knew it or not. But they found that safe, protective, non-judgmental space together in a literal concrete room. But what was, at first, their private space, came to mean something so much more than either was anticipating. And those four walls could not continue to hold their needs, desires and secrets. They were meant for so much more.
Their passion could only be described as beautifully intimate and wildly intense. Their sex became all consuming. It transcended any experience either man had ever known. They connected on a soul deep level. Their bodies craved only what the other could give. There were moments of such sadness interwoven within their lovemaking. Gut wrenching, heartbreaking, life changing moments.
Jen also gave us truly wonderful side characters who highlighted how valued and loved Sebastian and Colt were to others. She also showed us how depraved those closest to them could fail them in life altering ways. But I will say again, these men were survivors not victims. And they found their safe haven in each other.
This book was a journey. This book was an experience!

My first from Jen Samson and what a beautiful story it was. The gritty reality Colt and Sebastian go through are heartbreaking and healing. The secondary characters luminous and larger than life. I had to stop in the middle and just breathe for a while because some parts made my heart hurt. Note the triggers but this is one amazing read!

This started out as a 5 star read,but Sebastian’s strange behavior really brought the book down for me. I also expected more from the bdsm aspect. It was seemed glossed over. I did finish it and was happy they got their HEA.

I had such high hopes for this book. So many hopes. They did it was like 50 shades of Grey so I was like yes sign me up. And it really really was very close.. I was even excited to see diversity in this book. So what killed it? The MC Colt, and his choices. It’s like he has not brain. Had his first O by another person and he can no longer think. Which he admits multiple times. Which can be very dangerous. I made it to his first time and something happens, which upsets him and he has questions but instead of asking he just goes along with it don’t ask questions instead thinks about how hot Sebastien is. He has done this for most of the book. I don’t understand that ehh Sebastian is hot, or I’m horny so whatever. It was starting to make me feel anxious in not a good way. So DNF 57%

This was a solid four star despite the editing errors, up until the last 10%. I loved the angst. Didn’t love the “learning” of bdsm instead of it being established but that was a me thing not a book thing so that has nothing to do with my score. My issue is the end. What a f-ing mess that was. Like, Sebastian was a total ash-munch and we got no real groveling or apology. Everything was wrapped up in a couple pages it was ridiculous. I didn’t hate the story just really loathed that ending.

I devoured this book. It is definitely somewhat of a 50 shades gray retelling but without the obnoxious “I’m too broken for you” trope. There is a broken vibe from both of the characters but was so well written that it was such an integral part of the story. I hate that so much of what happened to the characters in the book still happens to children around the world. I won hundred percent recommend this book if you were in the mood for a D/S dynamic that isn’t super hard-core. The only reason that I rated this four stars instead of five was the last 10% felt off. A pretty major event happens and I don’t understand why it needed to be in the story. Other than that great read by a new to me author!

This book blew me away. It was so good that I once again had to spam Jen Samson while reading (sorry Jen, but now that you’ve told me that you like it, I’m not gonna stop).
Say Yes is not an easy read, but that’s not what I’m after 99,99% of the time. I want real feelings, real pain so thick and heavy that you can cut through it with a knife. I want all the ugliness and all the redemption.
In Say Yes our two MCs have both experienced neglect and abuse in their childhood and adulthood. But they dive into the pain and turn it into something beautiful. That which was once a dark place where they were subjected to the cruelty of others, becomes a place where they take control. A place where chains are no longer restrictive but will set you free.
“There’s only the truth. Our truth, as fucked up as it is, it’s still ours. I’m not afraid of your pain, Colt. Let me see you when you’re like this. The dark might not be so scary if I’m there with you.”
This book broke my heart in so many different ways. Colt and Sebastian broke my heart. But they also gave me hope as they took that which was taken from them and shaped it into their own truth: that if we choose to love someone, we also accept their flaws, scars and ugliness. And sometimes the ugliness loses its power, if we stare it right in the face.

I’d write out a detailed review on this book if I could but there’s just so much to unpack and I’m not sure where to start.
What I can say is that Colt and Sebastian come from similar backgrounds. One a social worker, the other a CEO of his billion dollar corporation but both do gooders with traumatic pasts. Both with secrets.
They meet in Sebastian’s board room and start a dom/sub contracted relationship. Sebastian trying to teach Colt everything about the lifestyle and Colt falling fast and hard for his new hot dom, Sebastian. But their traumatic pasts catches up to them and they can’t hide anymore. There’s a shift in the power balance and a realization of what they mean to each other. This is dirty and filthy but also romantic and very sweet.
You could say this is a MM version of Fifty Shades but it also packs so much more into this fantastic read.

The story itself was beautiful and I want to use it to insulate my body from the cold dark unforgiving world.

This book has all the things I love to read!
Jen Samson has charmed me with her elegant writing as it spoke to me, and connected me to this special story, and its very beautiful, broken characters, Sebastian and Colt.
They meet under very different circumstances but I can honestly say, the minute they meet, I felt the earth move and the angels sing!
Okay, I’m being facetious here and I’m hoping you get my drift! Also, be prepared for the angst & the pining, along with their sexual chemistry, it’ll all melt you down to a puddle! Straight down. 🫠🫠
It started out as an arrangement with a contract, and turned into something so much more.
Sebastian is a beautiful, 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 complex human being. He is a 𝘉𝘖𝘚𝘚 in the boardroom & the bedroom but can Colt break down his walls and figure out what makes him tick? As time goes on, Colt realizes there is something deeper and 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 darker within Sebastian, and he wants to get to the bottom of things. Will Colt be able to do this?
To be in a relationship with Sebastian is conflicting, to say the least. Colt always comes away feeling split in two…. “it’s ecstasy and agony . . . eternal life and endless damnation.”
Colt is also a very beautiful human with scars and family trauma, and he too, holds his secrets close to the heart.
Despite this, Colt is the light to Sebastian’s darkness, and Colt will do all to protect this man.
I must mention the phenomenal side characters, especially sweet & sassy, stargazing Aunt Joslyn. She stole the show every time she came on scene. This woman tickled me, and I’m quite sure, she will do the same to all!
I honestly could write forever about this story, I could not turn the pages fast enough, and again, be prepared for Sebastian & Colt’s sexual chemistry to 𝘔𝘌𝘓𝘛 your pages!

January 3, 2023In some ways this book was very 50 shades of gray - hot and stoic millionaire dom with issues a mile long and an unassuming employee who goes on to be his sub. But it is also infinitely better written. Nonetheless, it got very tropey at around 40% mark. And I'm not really a fan of contractual BDSM romances.

I tend to not read books with BDSM involved. Sometimes however, I will pick a story that interests me… most I DFN.. as all the contract and set rules leaves me cold in the romance side of things… so for me this is a rare bdsm gem!
I thought how the relationship between Sebastian and Colt was beautifully written. It’s totally from Colt’s pov and he describes the story with such eloquence and emotion. You feel his need, his pain, his desire to please and his desperation to protect and be allowed to love Sebastian.
The story is about past abuse from both sides.. how it has shaped and continues to shape their lives and how they respond to each other.
What I liked most, is that, even though we have contracts and scenes… this story wasn’t bogged down with the minute detail of bdsm life. It had emotion behind every scene which fully expressed these two characters feelings for one another.
Such as with Colt- and his self harming, then Sebastian’s full acceptance of this. How their sex play ‘scenes’ helped to explore and over come Colt’s shame for his enjoyment of pain. ( it’s not heavy or overly intense)
Sebastian. Well. He plays the Dom in such a caring way.. that of course Colt falls in love with him.
This love Colt feels for Sebastian is where the internal angst resides. As the contract it only for 6 months and Colt wants so much more…
I felt all Colt’s emotions.. which was difficult at times when Sebastian felt emotionally threatened and Colt felt the brunt of this. In the small moments he was very unsure of Sebastian.. I felt his uncertainty too…
So really. I loved this story for the emotionally driven relationship which is expressed through the bdsm elements. I enjoyed Colt’s voice, his perspective, and the way he loved Sebastian and wanted to be his safe harbour, just as Sebastian was for him.
Yes it has typo errors… and perhaps the ending was just over too quickly. Especially because the fall out was so, so, dramatic. I would have liked just a little more time given to the way both characters were brought back together.
But I’m Not going to drop a star because of those factors. Because I rarely really enjoy stories that include bdsm.

So many thoughts but my first is how perfect a representation this book is for loving someone wholly flaws and all with no expectation of change. A love where someone will embrace you exactly you as you are scars and all.
Both Cole and Sebastian have scars and both of these men find ways to cope with their trauma. They both see themselves as flawed....but together they are beautiful. They hold each others pain. They fight for the other to love All of themselves even the broken little boys who deserved so much more than what they were given.
And they choose a path in life that will give a voice to these little kids inside of them who only needed true authentic love with 0 judgement.....a safe place for kids like them to come and be safe and loved. Oh how I love Cole and Sebastian!
My only complaint is that this book was not longer. I would love to know more....I'm nosy like that.

Sebastian turns. I swear to god I have never seen another human being as beautiful as him.
4⭐️ for Colt and Sebastian. 🤧😭😮💨 Came for(what I thought was) kink romance. Left with puffy eyes & an itch under my skin to punch people. And I mean that in the BEST way.
Say Yes goes far beyond “I’m hot for my billionaire CEO investor boss” kind of thing - which I knew from reading reviews, but I didn’t KNOW until I read.
It’s SO MUCH MORE.
What begins seeming like a will-be power exchange, is actually something more like two souls that were hurt and taken advantage of when they were the most vulnerable, neglected by the ppl who should have loved them most, coming together, building each-other up, fighting (literally) the other demons, and seeing one another fully, flaws and all, and loving all the same.
It was messy, and on paper the couple didn’t make sense. Billionaire investor Sebastian Stone; and social worker running a safe house normally-can’t-afford-more-than-ramen, Colt Hanson. The imbalance is obvious, but these characters are layered in unexpected ways.
Colt is loyal to a fault, devoted, and to my delighted surprise, protective to the point he turns into 130lbs of fierceness when the ones he cares for are threatened. Sebastian, who seems aloof, but observant, dominant and someone not to be trifled with unless you wanna be offed has vulnerabilities with claws and poison in his soul.
That’s honestly the best way I can describe it without going into spoiler making detail. Because any bit of information will give a glimpse into the unexpected and that’s what made this book so great. I recommend going in blind, so I’ll say, just read it, AFTER checking the CW (serious sh!t)

Interesting. Like so many other things, personal experience informs a lot of opinions and biases. I had some personal issues with bits of the dynamic between Colt and Sebastian. Was that a me-thing or a story-thing? Who can say. As far as entertainment went, it was a good read. Hard and emotional at times, but a good read all the same.

This was a great read. Intense at times but also hot. Heartbreak and healing. Loved both the MC's. This is the second book I've read by this author and have liked them both. Will definitely be looking at more of her work.

Tldr: This book is essentially gay fifty shades of grey.
This had a really strong start but the longer it went on the more unbelievable it felt. Colt is enamored with Sebastian from the start and we continuously hear his internal monologue about how amazing he is. Yet in reality he either worships Colt or treats him like crap, often the latter with zero explanation or apology, and yet Colt just takes it? Like he'll be mad or upset for a sec and then he's all heart eyes again.
Look I could forgive that, but what really let me down was the ending. We spent 400 pages building up to finding out Sebastian's issues and him dealing with it, only to rush the ending and try to wrap everything up in 15 pages? It just didn't go with the flow of the rest of the book and I honestly had more questions than answers by the end
There were also significant editing errors throughout the book that caused confusion. There are dozens of instances where the two characters both have dialogue in the same paragraph, but it doesn't say who is speaking and I had to keep going back and forth trying to decipher who said what

So this book was pretty wild to me. It was so incredibly chaotic and I think in the end it truly suffered from a lack of true vision and the author trying to fit too many tropes and storylines into one book.
The beginning of the story feels very similar to the premise of Fifty Shades of Grey to me. Like scarily similar. But I’m cool with it, I just had to mention it so I didn’t feel crazy finding all the similarities.
- Colt gets sent to the interview while it should’ve been Spencer
- Sebastian buys them an expensive gift (Christian buys Ana the first edition book)
- Colt gets drunk and texts Sebastian (Ana does this too)
- BDSM lifestyle
- Oh yeah, Colt being a virgin
- Soooo many similarities
- Seb pushing Colt away but then not being able to stay away from him. Yep it’s totally a fanfic.
There was also some annoying inconsistency, it’s the middle of the summer and they’re complaining how hot it is, but then concerned that the safe house doesn’t have heat? And how is Colt freezing when Seb gets there? It’s hot out? Yes, I understand it was raining but he was inside…
Pacing and progression feels a little stilted like stop and start a few times.
Unfortunately, I don’t think the author knew exactly where she wanted to go with the theming of this book. I couldn’t be sure whether it was Colt’s struggles we were focusing on or the stuff Sebastian went through or that the relationship was supposed to be temporary. It all just felt like we were trying to find a cohesive story out of a few different premises. And then randomly throwing in a flashback scene in third person from Sebastian’s perspective? Just odd choices. I think the author just wanted to try out a few different writing and story devices but didn’t think how they’d fit cohesively into the story.
Ok and WHY didn’t they call the police and have Sebastian’s dad arrested?!?
I think so much of this seems ludicrous because we’ve literally learned basically nothing about Sebastian’s life for the first fifty chapters of the book and all of a sudden he’s been abused, no one did anything about it, he went to juvie for fighting back against his abuse?!? But no one could call the cops about his abuse? Like why didn’t his aunt do something when she literally saw her brother whipping his son?!?
So in her story we sum them up as ungrateful and mean-spirited?!? As opposed to abusive psychopaths !?!
So the adult in this situation decided that she rather let a child be abused than let him be angry at her?!? This just doesn’t make sense.
The final 15 or so chapters were just wild to me. I really think this book started out with a good premise but it tried to be too many things in a short expanse of time. We never dealt with Colt self-harming?! We’re just going to chalk it up to it being his coping mechanism but not trying to find safer or healthier ways to deal with his pain?!
And I just don’t know how or why the resolution happened the way it did. I felt like I was going through whiplash with the changes in this story. This was a disappointing one for me. I will for sure be back for more from this author but this book just didn’t have it.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ - for frequency and kink though I think the scenes could have been a bit lengthier and more descriptive.
Colt is a young broke social worker with big dreams of helping underprivileged youth. He is seeking a grant from CEO Sebastian Stone. Sebastian and Colt are almost immediately attracted to eachother. But Sebastian doesn’t do traditional relationships. He only has D/S relationships with strict contracts and with all the safety that BDSM provides. Colt is new to the work but is drawn to Sebastian. So he says yes. Through their D/S dynamic they learn more about eachother, their bond grows, and they get their HEA.
If you are really into reading about a romance that features BDSM with a pretty predictable plot…. Then proceed. There are some darker themes. But nothing is dark between the couple. I’m not BDSM expert but they seem to conform to true safe BDSM. So everything is consensual, there are safe words, and open communication where they speak at length about what they are and aren’t okay with. The darker aspects of the book create the backdrop and create conflict in their personal lives that seeps into the D/S bubble.
It was OKAY. Just super predictable and a little too sugary sweet for me. Everything also wrapped up a little to perfectly.

The beginning of this book was spectacular, but I felt it kinda went down hill after the first 1/3. Maybe just me, but these 2 need some serious therapy and love will not be the magical cure for serious childhood trauma.

Jaw still on the floor
I was fooled by the gorgeous cover and the title and didn’t pay attention to the rest. Thought I was going to read something soft, warm and fluffy. OMG was I so wrong.
I’ve never read anything quite like this before and was so unprepared for the sheer hurt, abuse and trauma that both MC suffered in their very young lives, age 4 and the other 7 years old. Now as a young man, Colt Hanson aged 22 is a Social Worker who set up and runs a Safe House for abused kids, along with his best friend Spencer Grant.
The 7 year old, Sebastian Stone is now 28 years old and one of the wealthiest men in the country. So opposite in every way to Colt Hanson, except from the pain and hurt they carry inside them.
Cole and Spencer are struggling to maintain the Safe House for the children that turn up every day hungry, hurt and often broken and homeless. They apply to the Stone Inc. organisation who often provide Grant Aid to various groups. This is how Colt Hanson and Sebastian Stone first met, not in an office but in the men’s room where Colt, struggling with nerves because he had to come here in place of his fellow partner who is more at ease speaking in public. Colt deals with this stress by ‘cutting’. While cleaning up, another man walks in, when he walks back out he passes a plaster to Colt to cover his wound. From little acorns, big trees grow.
I’ve not read many D/s books maybe 2 or 3 when I first started reading MM stories and decided that trope/genre was not for me. Even so, none prepared me for ‘Say Yes’, or for the awful background to the life of Sebastian Stone and Colt Hanson.
If D/s and BDSM is something you read then this will appeal to you, but READ THE TW’s because this is very very tough reading and probably contains every possible trigger.
Jen Samson is such an excellent storyteller, her writing skills and plotting abilities are second to none. I’ve read a couple of her books, none as gritty as ‘ Say Yes’ so far, although I’ve got a few in my TBR, none appear to be D/s/BDSM related. I’ll need to double check before I start as I don’t feel I could bear the painful read that ‘Say Yes’ was to my soft heart. But that is me, crybaby, who hates cruelty especially to the defenceless.
This is still an excellent story and it deserves the 5 Stars, because it wasn’t an easy read and got to me on such an emotional level.

The romance between Sebastian and Colt is simply next level. The BDSM lifestyle they engaged in, nurtured their inevitable fall for each other in the most beautiful and sensual way. Oh, dear lord, they were insanely hot together.🖤
Sebastian and Colt are instantly drawn to each other, moth to flame, innocence to darkness. Their courtship had my head spinning with the way Sebastian knew exactly what to say and do to get Colt taking risks he had never thought possible before. Jen Samson had me holding my breath every time those two engaged, until the moment they came together in the most explosive way. The culmination was sizzling hot and only intensified through the book. So much kink🤤 it was absolutely fantastic.🖤
This book talks about a lot more than two men finding each other. The discussion on homophobia, personal loss and child abuse is ongoing throughout the entire story. There were moments when I just let go and cried for them - the characters had suffered at the hands of those who were meant to love them, when they had been at their most vulnerable state. To see them come together and help each other heal was beautiful and heartbreaking, as neither of them thought they deserved or needed their pain and suffering validated and respected. To see them assume the abuse they were victim to, was their fault somehow, was so sad.🥺
When I read the last sentence, my first thoughts were, I wish I have a friend like Colt and I wish to be loved the way Sebastian loves Colt - fiercely, unapologetically, without limitations or pretence. I wish to know a connection so true and beautiful like the one Sebastian had with his aunt and Colt with Spencer. 🖤
The side characters were fantastic and brought so much flavour to the story. 🖤 I'm putting a request for Spencer 🤩 fingers crossed he and a certain someone...who may or may not be involved in security, hit it off🤩

I said yes
This was a very chaotic ride. And while I really did like it, it could have been better. So let’s start with my eye rollers:
-44% in and no safe word and at least two scenes in. Bad Dom is bad.
-Sebastian makes it pretty clear that this is only a 6 month contract and nothing will happen outside the club. But he takes him home to meet his auntie? Mixed signals Dom is giving mixed signals.
-Colt thinks using underhanded tactics to gets Sebastian to face his past is a good idea. Underhanded Sub is underhanded.
-Author thinks breakup scene at 90% is a good idea and then there’s zero groveling and Sebastian doesn’t have to work to get Colt back at all is a good idea. Silly author is silly.
This book hooked me within the first few pages. Colt seemed so…broken. The beginning scene of him in the bathroom is heartbreaking. You just want to wrap him up in a hug. Turns out, it’s Sebastian that’s the truly broken one. I hate that we don’t get his trauma dump until the near the end of the book, but it’s gut wrenching. The things he endured…ugh. So sad. I loved that there was some comeuppance for the perpetrators.
While there appear to be some elements of their relationship that are toxic, it really was perfect for them. Sebastian didn’t try to “fix” Colt. He accepted him, warts and all. The protective and loyal streak that Colt had over Sebastian was super hot as well. So yes, this was chaotic at times, but I really liked them together and was fairly satisfied with the HEA we got. A beautiful, heart wrenching and warming journey of love
This is one of the most profoundly moving books I think I’ve ever read and I read a lot, from the classics to NYT best sellers to fan fiction. This was so much more than the m/m romance I thought I was getting. It isn’t for the faint of heart or even those not easily triggered. Heed the warnings. If you struggle with your own demons, know your struggle before reading. My demons are currently in check and it was so incredible to read a story about someone else’s struggles with self-doubt and self-discovery and learning to love even the parts you don’t think deserve to be loved
The understanding and acceptance and compassion of the characters in Say Yes is beautiful. This book is a love letter to anyone who has ever felt unworthy, been scarred (whether physically or emotionally), or felt consumed by trauma. It is a tribute to the healing power of found family and choosing who to share your life with. It is a reminder that even in the darkest moments, you are not alone and you deserve to love and be loved and are beautiful just as you are. We choose how our damage defines us. A wise man once said family don’t end in blood and this book celebrates that sentiment fully. To all the LGBTQIA+ kids out there wondering what happened to it gets better, this book is a reminder that we have the power to make the world better, because we deserve it. Thank you to Jen Samson for writing this incredible journey.

If you struggle with your own demons, know your struggle before reading. My demons are currently in check and it was so incredible to read a story about someone else’s struggles with self-doubt and self-discovery and learning to love even the parts you don’t think deserve to be loved
The understanding and acceptance and compassion of the characters in Say Yes is beautiful. This book is a love letter to anyone who has ever felt unworthy, been scarred (whether physically or emotionally), or felt consumed by trauma. It is a tribute to the healing power of found family and choosing who to share your life with. It is a reminder that even in the darkest moments, you are not alone and you deserve to love and be loved and are beautiful just as you are. We choose how our damage defines us. A wise man once said family don’t end in blood and this book celebrates that sentiment fully. To all the LGBTQIA+ kids out there wondering what happened to it gets better, this book is a reminder that we have the power to make the world better, because we deserve it. Thank you to Jen Samson for writing this incredible journey.
