Isaak just knew he was going to die when he was trapped in a fire. He was wounded with no way out, until a large wolf appeared. Rescued by Stone, a wolf shifter who wasn’t too fond of vampires, Isaak wasn’t out of the woods yet. Cash and his men were determined to end him, and Isaak was even more determined to live. What he hadn’t expected was to find out that Stone was his mate.
Stone wasn’t sure what to think about Isaak. Wolf shifters and vampires were mortal enemies, but one moment of weakness and now Stone was mated. Worse, he had to retreat to the coven house when his home was no longer safe. He was among his enemy, trying his damnedest to keep Isaak safe. Now they just had to figure out who in the coven had betrayed Isaak while stopping his coven from tearing Stone apart.
Lynn Hagen loves writing about the somewhat flawed, but lovable. She also loves a hero who can see past all the rough edges to find the shining diamond of a beautiful heart.
You can find her on any given day curled up with her laptop and a cup of hot java, letting the next set of characters tell their story.
Argh this book. I really liked Stone and Isaak and their story along with the over arching story. It could have been my favourite of the series. What I didn’t like was the complete lack of editing and proofreading. Chapters 8 onwards, the author clearly wrote the first thing she thought of and never read over what she had written to check it made sense. Characters were incorrectly named, the wrong pov was used. It was incredibly disappointing
I liked Isaak and Stone once they got over their “we’re mortal enemies” crap. Plus, how on earth are these humans evading several vampire covens and a wolf pack?? It seems a little hard to believe.
Heads up book lovers - there are some major issues with this book!
The plot and the characters should have combined to make this a really good story - even with Lynn Hagen's formula writing, BUT (and it is a big But)
There is a serious lack of human editing in this book, and, in addition, from chapter 7 on the story falls apart - it is a bit like someone higher than a kite wrote the rest - or an AI system with insufficient information.
Characters are misnamed; the wrong words are used (I instead of you); point of view slips, and there are places where the story seems to circle and then jump - no logic is used at all. Previously mentioned 'facts' are forgotten or mislaid and for god's sake - how does a vampire die and still have all their body parts? when this world has already established that beheading or full burning is the only way to kill a vampire?
I'm so glad that Stone got his mate!!! Now we have the vampires & werewolves playing nice but they're throwing insults at each other as much as they're helping each other!!!! Thanks foe another great story Lori
