The Shadow Queen is part one in the Draekkon's Fire trilogy. A bitter queen, a cruel king, an immortal witch, and a determined princess serve as pawns in the dragon conjuror's game. Previously published as Draekkon's Fire Episodes 1-37 on Kindle Vella.
Cintarzia is falling apart. Both the kingdoms and the immortal realms must form an alliance or lose everything. A scandal threatens the peace between Burnleaf and Silverhawke. Queen Gwendolyn demands loyalty at all costs, while her sister, Princess Aeve is captive to the whims of a ruthless king. The sisters are manipulated by their Uncle Vellaine. He wants Cintarzia, and he'll conjure a dragon to get what he wants.
When the dust of battle settles who will be the most powerful? Will it be Gwendolyn, Aeve, or the ancient witch, Datura? Warriors and unsung heroes stand to win all or lose everything. Will these chess pieces fall or will they unite against a common enemy?
Unfortunately having so many points of views sent my head dizzy. The storyline is good and the character development was getting there but I just didn’t feel it.
Maybe it just wasn't the book for me. With the constant shifting of perspectives especially in the beginning I struggled to connect to the characters portrayed. Just when I thought I had figured out what to expect and who was going to end up as the protagonist something happened and they were suddenly gone from the story. The three kings we meet were all written in the same way and maybe that was the point but after number one and two number three just felt repetitive. When one of the characters ends up pregnant the way the story is written feels like she had sex and the next day boom she's pregnant which turned me off the story even more than possible. I didn't enjoy this at all. Thankfully it was a rather short read.
