This full-colour, accessible book for beginners teaches "dynamic yoga", which is based on the athletic style of Ashtanga, offering a powerfully effective home regime of energising exercises and calming techniques. It features important breathing techniques, athletic exercise sequences and over 40 key postures. The step-by-step photographs help you to tackle the challenging postures and avoid common mistakes.
I haven’t practiced yoga in years. I found this book very helpful. It not only goes into great description but pictures are included. I think I am finally holding my poses correctly. Lol
Really good 90-minute workout with lots of active movement and strength building that I can easily stretch to over two hours. Good for working up a sweat when you're feeling ancy and sort of unfocused. I come out of this workout feeling drained and loose all over-- maybe not calm enough, maybe not stretched enough.
The book lists its asana descriptions in the order they appear in the workout, so you can read through the descriptions without having to constantly go back and forth between pages. I didn't really like the shorter workouts in the book. They're easier, and felt sort of hollow, missing peices.
This is the first yoga book of MANY from the library that I actually went out and bought. Intermediate yoga poses, very good illustrations and instructions, plus three workouts (30min, 60min, 90min) at the end incorporating the poses.
