The Message

Rate this book
1169 CE. Egypt. Salah al-Din rises and in the ensuing bloodshed a Nubian child is abandoned in a basket to the whims of the great River Nile. Chanced upon by a Jewish merchant who names him Musa, he grows to manhood in a world which will be torn asunder by conflict.

On his maiden journey to mighty Damascus Musa first encounters the violent hatred which is spreading through his world and in an act of great self-sacrifice begins a journey which will criss-cross the lands and the factions of the world he has been born into. And all of this in search of a woman he loved and lost and thought never to see again. A woman who has also made a great sacrifice and whose life has also been tainted by the rigid nature of her times.

As a soldier Musa will be party to the great battles of his age, as a messenger he will be privy to the thoughts of the great legends who populate his times and as an individual he will seek to escape the confines of his birthright, his past and the great religions which cast their shadow over his days.

Romance, adventure and harsh reality intermingle to make a single man ponder the nature of his species, the world they have created for themselves and the message this has left for him. And all the while plagued by his own brutal inner voice of reason and darkness.

There is no historical evidence remaining that Musa ever existed. No message left in the historical record. Such messages are not preserved. But that is not to say that people such as he did not exist.
