The art in this is just stunning, filled with beautiful people, gorgeous two page spreads, and action scenes that are easy to follow without losing their detailing. Some heavy and tragic things unfold in this volume, but I really love our main characters. This also ended on an intriguing cliffhanger, so I'm eager for more.
Cinque stelle meritatissime. Finalmente la trama ha iniziato a ingranare come si deve, si scopre l'identità del vero villain e anche qualcosa in più sui Maga. Alma si riconferma un personaggio bellissimo.
this is SO PEAK. OLD MENTOR TEACHER IS SO FUCKING HOT AND STRONG. i love alma and he’s my son and i need to help him. i love them so much omg AND TAO. MY HEART. UGHHHHHHH this series is so good and the ending??
reading this feels like listening to someone trying to recount the plot of Chainsaw Man but they read it sometime ago and don't remember all the details and they take that as an opportunity to make shit up in a way that seems cool to them (not sure how I feel about that tbh)
Ok but why is everyone in this series so hot??? Another awesome volume where we meet some new characters and a great balance between action and emotions. I love to see these characters grow. (Also Tao pls step on me)
CR: Ch. 19 This was super intense and really dark for a minute but I’m still enjoying it. I have so many questions though. I don’t feel like this series is going to end up being super long, but we’ll see. I do wish there was more stuff happening in between the main plot, maybe some side jobs that they do just to drag out the tension a little more and not give things away so fast.
I continue to love the character design and art of this, I just really wish I could get into the story more. This pacing seems a little off, some stuff is so insanely fast while also being slow and take forever to get to the point at other times. It feels a touch directionless, but the art is so nice I will continue to see if the plot can pull me in more.
i am very intrigued as to where the story will go. the maga found/made family deal is pretty exciting. keeping eyes out for this one. it'll either be very mid or very good in the future.
God I'm just so obsessed with Yuto Sano's art. it's SO good. The story is also starting to pick up and I'm really enjoying it. Looking forward to the next volume.
I loved the first volume of Gokurakugai, and I especially loved its art. It didn't go very far in terms of plot, but it was the first volume, so it was forgivable. The second volume was similar: each chapter had its own little story, but there wasn't a consistent direction. At least, that's what I assumed until I read this one. Volume 3 keeps the action, humor, charm, and brilliant art from the first two volumes while also continuing the events introduced in the second volume. As far as I recall, every last chapter in volume 3 directly impacts the series as a whole. Gokurakugai has chosen a path, and it seems like it will stay on it.
My only remaining criticism lies in the very first chapter of the very first volume, in which two characters are introduced who have not made a single appearance since (besides a bonus chapter at the end of the second volume). I thought their story was genuinely interesting and emotional, so I'm sad they aren't more important in the series. It kind of feels like the whole first volume was abandoned. But honestly, if the rest of the series continues what I see in volumes 2 and 3, it probably isn't a big deal if the first volume is a bit disconnected from the rest.
Gokurakugai is currently the best manga series I've read. I don't want to be too hasty in that statement - especially considering I'm only three volumes in - but if Yuto Sano can keep this up, I'll be happy to pick this as my favorite series.
Tatsuomi and Tao are the ship that never stops shipping
I'm pretty sure this is JJK in a hat
But the cliffhanger is wild! I liked this volume even though it got kind of dark. The introduction of Ryu was perfect timing to give Alma some depth and development, and I really liked seeing even more character interactions. I'm still confused about the world/monsters (why is there a dog man?) but I'm here for the vibes and the art style has leveled out to be consistently good. I WILL be reading the next chapters on SJ because I can't with the cliff.
I am really enjoying this series. I love the artwork and the characters. This was my favorite volume so far, with the characters' interactions and revelations. I can't wait for the next volume.
