honestly this was a great time.
one thing i loved most about this instalment in the series is how it integrates real life topics and issues like book banning, school budget cuts, classism and capitalism (yes im serious). of course, this is done in the most diary of a wimpy kid way possible, which was exaggerated and incredibly unserious. whilst touching on these issues in a very surface level manner, i still think it goes a long way for an 18th novel in a children's comedy series. it was done in such a fun way and i loved it.
the only issue i had with this book is the lack of focus on greg and the supporting characters. especially so far into the series, i truly feel that the characters are the heart of this series and their lack of presence felt like such a missed opportunity. it's actually baffling thinking about how little rowley, rodrick and manny appeared in this book.
overall, this was a quick and enjoyable read! as always, i'll definitely be tuning in to the next one.
