Gingerella is an undecorated gingerbread girl who, neglected by the royal baker, fears she will not be allowed to the Gingerbread Fair. Running away to the forest, she encounters a woodsman with a secret passion...for baking.
A mashup of Cinderella and The Gingerbread Man, this funny and fast-paced fairytale features a medieval baking contest, a ravenous queen and a ginger-bottomed prince!
This was a quick, fun listen, perfect for bedtime stories or short car rides. I can't quite decide if this story was cute or more of a cheese nightmare. Bit of both? It has a cheerful ending and the narration is brilliant.
This was a simple fusion of Cinderella and The Gingerbread Man… and that’s all there was to it.
It could’ve been more if not for the short length and limited time to create a proper story, but there was sadly nothing special nor original to take away from the story.
This was just a quick audiobook to mark off another reading book on my list.
A cute, silly bedtime story that's good for what I wanted it for (introducing/showcasing different regional dialects). It's a ridiculous mash up that didn't need to be made, but hey, it's free and takes six minutes.
This audiobook was so cute to listen to, and quick, too! Gingerella was a gentle novella fitting for all listeners, not just kids. I got a partial Christmastime vibe in reading this book, because these are gingerbread characters, and I'm normally one who eats gingerbread anything on or around Christmas. I don't know if that's the case for everyone, but for me, Christmas started way early as I read this book and went to bake and eat gingerbread cookies of my own! I liked the descriptions of Gingerella and her bitten-off cookie-foot and its tribute to the original story. Even though readers aren't supposed to like the traditional Cinderella stepsister characters, I rather liked the over-baked stepsister characters, their over-decorated gingerbread bodies both making me hungry and giving me diabetes all at once! I finished this book in seven minutes or so, but I finished eating my package of cookies in less time than that. Kudos to you and cravings for you, author Dina Gregory! I look forward to reading your other books and novella audiobooks! Which do you recommend I read next? I'm psyched!
I'm not even sure if kids would enjoy this. The story was obviously created from at least two different fairy tales. I couldn't imagine gingerella she was said to be wearing shoes but obviously in the way that a shoe is styled that's not possible she wouldn't be able to fit into any shoes unless they meant it was drawn on her but no because "gingerella heard a snap" and her shoe broke but she kept running. How can she run with a broken drawn on foot? It was so inconsistent.

This Audible original is a weird, but entertaining combination of the gingerbread man story and Cinderella. It follows a gingerbread Cinderella, Gingerella, as she attempts to not be the chosen gingerbread to get eaten by the queen at midnight. While some children would enjoy this story, others might find it to be a little scary.
I couldn't help read this because of it's title, it is kid story just replace Ella with gingerbread that is the story in a nutshell. I been trying to take advantage of my audible subscription on its final Month as can never find any good free books so listening to anything with a good title.
This is such a cute and creative combination of the Gingerbread Man and Cinderella. I truly loved reading it—the idea was fun and refreshing. I only wish it had been a little longer, because I would have enjoyed seeing even more of the story unfold. Still, it was short, sweet, and very charming.
The queen's baker decorated the gingerbread cookies he had baked for the queen's Gingerbread Fair, but he missed the one gingerbread girl he had made. She ran away so as to not be chosen as the queen's choice of snack. This story is a short, funny, combination of fairytales.
