It pops up in a seemingly random Sunday each year, easing you gently into spring. The promise of candy and chocolate eggs makes it popular with kids, but it’s hardly in the same league as holidays like Christmas.
... But perhaps it should be?
Here are 12 weird and wonderful facts, spanning all the way from its origins through to the present day, that show the enduring significance of Easter for Christians.
Bob Lepine is the co-host of the popular daily radio program "Family Life Today," a nationally syndicated radio program heard in more than 200 cities across the country. A frequent speaker at Family Life Marriage Conferences, he lives with his wife and five children in Little Rock, Arkansas.
A delightful and fun exploration of the truths of Easter from Cadbury eggs and hot cross buns to the saving life and death of Jesus. Read it for yourself to learn some fun facts or give it to a friend to introduce them to Jesus!

This year's 10ofThose Easter giveaway book takes an interesting approach - Bob Lepine gives us 12 Easter facts, some about traditions and some about the first Easter, and uses them to share the good news of life in Jesus. In the process, he tackles some key apologetic questions, such as evidence for the resurrection and pagan associations with Easter/Eostre. For that reason, even if you don't have any non-Christians to give it to, it's worth reading as a Christian to think about how you can share the Easter story with others. There are a few American references, but not many, and to compensate Bob Lepine also mentions Travelodge and St Albans.
If you're looking for a book to give away this easter which explains the gospel, but also ties in lots of easter traditions people will be familiar with, this is a great choice.
Bob Lepine looks at things such as the banning of hot cross buns, why easter moves each year, what in the world have bunnies and chocolate eggs got to do with it, and weaves through the Christian meaning of Easter.
Very easy to read, lots of interesting facts to keep people engaged, but clear on the gospel.
This book was fine. There were a few cool chapters (like the Easter Bunny and Hot Cross Buns), but it felt like an extended tract. It's an enjoyable one, but it's pretty average.
