Originally from sunny Southern California – Jamie L Biggs is a storyteller, coffee addict, and paranormal romance writer who now lives with her husband and family in Phoenix, Arizona.
When she’s not writing you can find her reading all-things vampires, shifters, and supernatural by the likes of J. R. Ward, Charlaine Harris, and Amy A. Bartol. You can’t beat getting caught up in a great book, right?
I absolutely love the author and her works. This is her latest and its the first in a series. Rumor is your ordinary teenager just waiting to start college but when a charismatic stranger comes into town her life and her feelings are turned upside down. Because Rumor isn’t your ordinary teenager and soon she must make a choice: chose the good side or the bad side. I loved this story that throws you right back into your own childhood, trying to figure out who you are and what your place in this world is. The authors did a terrific job putting this inner turmoil onto paper, adding a supernatural spin on it and leading us through an adventurous journey of good and evil, finding your place in this world and showing us that the world isn't just black and white. Can't wait for book two.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This book is slow, for the first 40% of the book it was an everyday, uneventful college story. The only thing I liked about it was the relationship between Rumor and her Dad. Rumors "relationship" with Rex was annoying; she said she wasn't interested, but then she dressed up for him and didn't tell him she didn't want to be with him. In general, Rumor was very ambivalent; she accepted things mostly with an "Okay", no difference if it was to get a coffee, or go to a party or enter a relationship. The people around her don't tell her what's going on, which is really annoying. After 40%, finally, it started to develop into a paranormal book. BUT...there she is, accepting to be something very special, being in a magical world and not questioning it. I didn't feel like she fancied Booker very much, but from one moment to the next, she trusts him and is into him. Booker slays an Archangel with one stroke. Seriously? And a minute later, they act as if nothing had happened and kiss? Rumor's sentences are like: "Booker, I don't..." "Booker, why is..." "Booker, I want to shower." This brings me out of the reading flow. Not to mention the statements and questions that came out of her mouth, which are sometimes stating the obvious or are not very smart. I stopped reading at 48%, but I guess it will run into a book where every male wants to be with her, as it is hinted at several times now. If I had known that, I wouldn't have started to read the book (would be nice to have listed the tropes). I don't know if this will change further in the book, but at 48% she has red wings and on the cover with the woman the wings are white. I like the cover with the red wings more.

I received a free digital arc copy of this book on NetGalley, so I'm leaving this review in return.
The premise of this book was interesting to me. It's been a while since I've read anything about Fallen Angels vs Demons. That said, there was little action revolving around the war that was meant to take place. If this book were a movie, it'd be like a prequel, giving us a backstory into what occurred before the FMC chose a side and went to war. Speaking of the main character, Rumor, was very irritating and unlikeable to me. Something about how she spoke and acted turned me off the character. But then again, her actions were tame compared to characters such as Mateo and Rex, who were overbearing, controlling, self-absorbed, holier-than-thou, and insensitive. Booker and Hades seemed to be the only reasonable and likable characters compared to everyone else. Quite a few grammatical errors distracted me at times (incomplete quotes). For example, sometimes Mateo would be spelled with one "t" and others with two. This book was about 230 pages long, and the story went by quickly. It may have some potential if there is a book two, but I'm unsure if I'll continue.
Rumor is an uptight teen. Determined to remain unchanged as she enters a new stage of life, she is realizing that everything may not be as it seems. Not her best friend Maddie, not her boyfriend, and not even her beloved adopted father.
This book includes: - nephilim - friends to lovers - teen romance - sort of love triangle - conflict/growing apart from childhood friends when starting college - positive relationship between adopted father/daughter
"Rumor: Kingston City Nephilim" has an interesting premise, but unfortunately the writing style was not for me. The book is listed under the New Adult genre, but I think the writing and plot building were much more of a young YA style. Rumor's perspective and decision making processes felt very immature. I don't know if she was extremely petty and childish, or if we were just missing valid motivations behind her behavior, but either way I didn't find myself connecting to her of the story.
I recommend this book to young fans of "Hush, Hush."
I received this eBook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Jamie L Biggs for the opportunity to review this book
Thank you NetGalley and author Jamie L. Biggs for the copy in exchange of my honest review.
"She thought the truth would set her free. Instead, it binds her to the supernatural.
Seeking the truth entangles Rumor in a web of angelic mysteries and demonic secrets. She thought the truth would set her free, but instead, it binds her to the supernatural forces that lurk in the shadows.
As her adopted father's deceit unravels and DNA test results confound her, Rumor must navigate a treacherous path. Her once-trusted friend, Rex, becomes a formidable foe driven by desires beyond friendship, while an enigmatic stranger emerges as an unlikely hero offering everything she craves.
Rumor must find her voice in a world where romance dances with the supernatural, and dark fantasies blur the line between good and evil. In this gripping dark fantasy, she faces an impossible choice: the seductive allure of the stranger or the relentless pursuit of Rex.
Join Rumor on a thrilling journey through a world where angels and demons collide, love is tested, and the supernatural redefines destiny."
Pnr, fantasy featuring angels and demons, good v. evil v. Truth. The writing style and lack of editing make this difficult to read. The story is a childish attempt to portray morally grey characters imposing their version of "right". It incorporates angels, god, satan, Hades and demons into a baffling world. The storyline even drags Enoch and Metatron into the plot. One minute it tries to sound like a philosophical essay, the next it reads more like middle school drama. It's all a clumsy jumble that just tries too hard. I'm not sure if a follow-up is planned. It isn't necessary.
Rumor must make a choice, especially after learning of her true nature and the secrets around her. Who can she trust? Family, friends and strangers all have something they want. Caught in the middle of a war between good and evil, Rumor will need to embrace her origins as well as her new reality. This was an exciting story once it got going. What a wonderful start to a new series.

This was a little slow to start but once I got into the book it was an enjoyable read. Rumor is just about to start at college when she finds her whole view on the world needs to change. She discovers that she is part of a supernatural world of Angels and Demons. Nothing is quite so clear anymore and she needs to make a choice between good and evil.

I feel like Rumor acted more like a 16 year old then a college student. Didn't really like her personality. Mateo and Rex were just heartless angels that only cared about themselves. I did like Booker though and how he always told Rumor the truth. I liked the overall story but definitely feel like it should be a YA book not a NA. I definitely want to see where their story takes them in a second book.
I enjoyed this PNR storyline about a teen finding her way in life with a supernatural theme. The trials and adventures of discovering the world isn't just black and white. The MCs are defined, relatable, and engaging. I found this first-in-series book entertaining and well-paced. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
I love a good angels and demons romance and this book was really good! A great story behind it as well, in addition to Rumor being an awesome character.

A great start I want book 2. She thought she was a normal girl but find out she wasn’t now she has to choose good or evil. I like the in depth characters and world building it is my first experience with author and I’ll read more from this author
I really enjoyed this book. It is fast paced about Angels & Demons. There is mistrust, doubts, love and an awful boyfriend" in the mix. I was engrossed from beginning to end with wondering what was going to happen and didn't want it to end.
This one was a little confusing at first, but once I caught on and got to reading I couldn't put it down. Really liked this book and I would recommend it!- Tasha
