Nick Lacey is a good guy. If life were a comic book, he’d have been the nerdy superhero with a secret side of being a badass with a hidden past. When a fiery beauty moves to the town of Ravens End, Nick realises there’s more to life than just getting by; sometimes you just have to live.
Sasha Santiago has always been the damsel in distress and she was not fond of it. She’s passionate and imaginative with a heart full of gold. People are drawn to Sasha in a way no one can explain. One of those people just happens to be dependable, good guy: Nick.
I was lucky enough to be gifted this book by Alie Day & Tamarind Hill Press to write an honest review. It was such a easy read and I literally finished soo quickly!

I love her writing, it's modern and free-flowing. It is quite short, and things happened very quickly, but I loved this because there was so much drama going on I didn't have to wait ages til I got to the part I wanted! I fell in love with the characters! Especially Sasha! I just wanted everything to go right for her! And I absolutely hated Jenna 😂 so throughout the book I felt so many emotions!! I literally wanted to scream at my iPad on some parts 🤭 it really is a true romance novel.. Filled with falling in love, dealing with heartbreak and allsorts life through in the way! This had to get 5 stars because I didn't expect to love it as much as I did 😍. I don't often read romance books and sometimes I can be picky 🤭 but I loved this!! This is Alie's debut novel, and she definitely deserves the recognition so she can continue to write more books!! 😍 I can't wait wait to read 'The Intern' 😍😍
If I had to say two words about this book, I'd say "Loved it!"
The book is a light read, nice little romance novel, and the fact that it doesn't claim to be anything beyond that is one of the reasons why I loved it so much! The story is of two "star-crossed" lovers, with a couple of supporters (read best friends) and a huge block (read the ex-girlfriend), and how they find their way to be together amidst everything that comes for them.
The book blurb just describes the two characters around which its story has been built up, and it goes something like this: "Nick Lacey is a good guy. If life were a comic book, he’d have been the nerdy superhero with a secret side of being a badass with a hidden past. When a fiery beauty moves to the town of Ravens End, Nick realizes there’s more to life than just getting by; sometimes you just have to live.

Now, for a little something about the book - the story has been described from two points of view - Sasha, and Nick, who narrate the things going on from their own viewpoints in the present world, and the pace which has been taken by the author is just a perfect one... Not so fast that it fails to be a light read, and not so slow that the reader starts being bored.
The emotions throughout the story have been described beautifully, the characters are lovable, closely knit, and not a single useless character being there is a huge plus point from my side! Also, the unique way of unrolling their traits in conversations and thoughts of others without leaving too much to the specific character descriptions - again, really, really good!
All in all, an awesome read for those times when you want to read something, but too tired to put your head into calculating and analyzing what's going on!
Thank you Alie Day and Tamarind Press for my copy of this book which I really enjoyed. Loved the characters maybe the book could have explored them even more and I felt that the ending was a bit rushed but I find many books do this. Overall a good easy read.
I loved this book so much. The way Alie describes everything in such detail, I feel as if I'm actually there in the scene. The characters are so relatable too. I can't wait to see what's next from this author!
I was lucky enough to be gifted this book in a competition. This book is basically a boy meets girl romance and reminds me a little of a hallmark movie (not necessarily a bad thing if that's what you enjoy reading)! I did struggle a lot with this book, just because I was hoping for more of a story / character progression rather than just focusing on a relationship. It's not a bad book, but I feel like it's maybe aimed at more of a teenage audience. If you like straight forward romance novels, then you'd probably enjoy this one.
Really enjoyed this first novel from Alie Day, and would like to read more if she writes any new books. As a reader, you were rooting for Sasha and Nick from the start, and found them so relatable. A cracking read for fans of older teen romance.
