Aylene Candent's adventure starts as a first-year student at the Academy in preparation to join the Arcane Guard and bring honor to her banished family. She seeks redemption for the same crime which resulted in the execution of her father and her family's loss of royalty. Training at the school and isolation gives way to explorations of the realms of the embodied written worlds of somnumes and umbrumes. Books within books can be visited and time can be extended, but that doesn't mean it should be. Aylene's love for adventure results in her biting off more than she originally intended, and her fated trips to Cosmoria become life-changing adventures rife with spiritual repercussions that forever change her mark on the magi people.

Conversation starter with my Teen Daughter! My 15 year old daughter read this book, loved it so much, and kept talking about it. I eventually picked it up myself and it has been something that we have been able to share and talk about. The lead character is a teen who has to overcome prejudices because of something that her family did when she was a child. But she is confident, resourceful, gains her footing more every day, until she makes a huge difference for her people. She is everything that I hope for in my daughter and I felt that it was a discussion starter as well as just a great book!

The protagonist Aylene Candent's journey in Peter Pietri's book "Redemption" takes place in a rich and complicated world where her quest for honor and redemption takes center stage. Her ultimate ambition as a first-year Academy student is to become a member of the esteemed Arcane Guard and clear her family's honor, which has been tainted by a crime that resulted in her father's execution and their exclusion from the royal family.

Aylene's entrance to the Academy, a place of learning and seclusion, successfully opens the story. Her character is shaped in the Academy, where she also receives intense training that pushes her boundaries and gets her ready for future obstacles. The aura of this place is very evident, and it serves as a striking background for Aylene's metamorphosis.

But as it explores the idea of "embodied written worlds" in the shape of somnumes and umbrumes, the narrative takes an intriguing turn. These accessible virtual worlds provide an enticing look into space and time. It's an intriguing idea, but the story deftly points out to readers that having the ability to travel into these realms has implications, which builds suspense and keeps the plot interesting.

Aylene's passion for exploration serves as both a strength and a weakness. She bites off more than she meant because of her unrelenting quest of experiences. This ultimately brings her to Cosmoria, where a crucial shift in her destiny occurs. Her travels through this mysterious world not only transform her life, but they also have profound spiritual implications. This subtle change gives her character and the narrative's examination of the Magi people more depth.

This is a gripping story about honor, atonement, and the attraction of unknown territories. It skillfully blends coming-of-age and fantastical elements, engrossing readers in a universe where the protagonist's fate is shaped by both internal and exterior conflicts. For lovers of fantasy literature, this novel is a must-read because of its elaborate world-building, deep character development, and examination of difficult subjects.

I would rate this book at 4.7 out of 5! The author develops a very interesting and unique story that is spun through various means via flashbacks, newspaper articles and other clever techniques that the reader must read to understand. His prose is also very unique, it is complex yet very simple at the same time. It is a perfect blend for both a part time reader to the reading connoisseur who expects a deeper level of knowledge and vocab.

This story is not your typical syfy-fantasy. It blends several elements within it that is not typical to the genre such as cosmic horror, action and even almost textbook like chapters. The story picks up almost immediately and takes you on a roller coaster ride until the very end which you don’t see coming.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes strong characters and unexpected plot elements that keep you guessing until it is revealed in the finale.

REDEMPTION'S story is a tale about the magi Aylene Candent's harrowing journey for honor and redemption. There is martial magic, love interests, books with different realms, and a setting with a depth of spellbinding details included for fantasy enthusiasts.

I would describe this story as a roller coaster in terms of pacing, and it leaves excitement for readers to look forward to. While there may be occasional moments where the narrative's pace falters and slows under the weight of introspection, these instances are infrequent and do not significantly diminish the overall experience.

In conclusion, REDEMPTION stands as a potent and emotionally resonant novel, rich with thematic intricacies and nuanced feelings. This coming of age story explores the human capacity for growth, transformation, and spirituality. Readers seeking a story that marries psychological depth with a captivating narrative will discover REDEMPTION to be an exceptionally gratifying read.

The book centers around the life of Aylene, who is an academy student training in the Magi arts. I loved the attention to detail and the level of immersion for the duel / mana system. A great mix of science and fantasy that feeds into a captivating main story line.

I also enjoyed the way the author subtlety weaves in hints and clues about some of the deeper connections in the plot. Overall a very enjoyable read!

Great Book! 4.8 out of 5. I am 16 and really loved this book! It had a cool story line and the main character was really inspiring. She goes through so much but learns so much about herself along the way. Things are not exactly as they seem to be and as she grows in power she is able to lead and do things she never believed she could.
