Sometimes, a date from hell is just what you need...

When Erin thoughtlessly lays a curse on Mark, her cheating ex-husband, she doesn’t expect a well-dressed Great Earl of Hell to show up in her kitchen to fulfill the curse (and make damn good coffee while he’s at it).

Andromalius specializes in wickedness and revenge. He’s ready, willing, and able to rain down hell on Erin’s ex—but when Mark announces a hasty new marriage, Erin needs more than just revenge.

She needs a date to the wedding.

2.5 read - and mostly that rating is for the excellent marketing in regards to this book. The cute title. The even cuter unique cover and the blurb - which promises a fun read with some zinging revenge on a cheating ex-husband.

So - now on to the book itself. It kind of failed to deliver on all fronts. The romance was hard to find. First, Erin and Andy hardly spend anytime together at all. He's thoughtful, twigs she's a vegetarian, makes her coffee and listens/supports her when she speaks. And when he goes missing Erin goes on this weird - odd - frantic witchcraft buying spree to get him back, but never really explains why she must have him back. So the romance is a complete disconnect. At the 80% mark they both realise they have feelings - they dance around one another until the 98% mark when they suddenly get together and the novel ends - almost in mid-word in seems. They don't even share their feelings out loud, it's more a look, a done deal, the end.

And as for the revenge on the ex-husband part of the book? - where the hell (excuse the pun) was it? Other than one small incident at church and a dream Andy invades. This whole revenge thing was a complete and utter fail/no-show.

And my biggest gripe? Erin curses her ex and Andy appears, tells her he's a Demon and they will get revenge together - but not once does Erin query what Andy gets out of the deal. She doesn't even ask about her soul or eternal damnation. Instead she just shrugs and says okay. That kind of struck me as a little TSTL on Erin's part.

I was bored out of my mind and there was very little romance. It mostly centered around her relationship with her ex and the revenge plot. It was basically womens fiction. I also didnt get why they kept mentioning church so im thinking this might be christian romance but also it's about a demon so....

This is a fun, light, paranormal romantic comedy. Erin is rightfully enraged at her ex-husband Mark, who not only cheated on her with her best friend, but now wants Erin to stop going to their church because he feels uncomfortable seeing her there. Honestly how he has the hide to show his face in the church when everyone there knows what he’s done is… yeah, well, let’s just say *I* wouldn’t have that much chutzpah.

The fun starts when Erin accidentally curses Mark and a nattily dressed Great Earl of Hell turns up to help out. Andromalius “Andy” just wants to make sure Erin gets suitable revenge; he’s frankly kinda bored since most humans just don’t know how to lay a good curse these days. But Erin’s basically a good person who doesn’t want anything too terrible to happen to Mark really, and then she finds out he’s getting married and needs a date to the wedding, and well, Andy’s right there...

This is a pretty quick read, and honestly it’s a lot of fun. I wouldn’t think too deeply about the plot because you’re going to start seeing any number of holes (does it REALLY not occur to Erin to ask what the price is for the deal before she shakes hands on it?) and there’s also quite a few things which are raised and then just dropped without being dealt with. Like Andy’s friend Phoenix pointing out that gender is just a habit for most immortals and asking how Andy will raise that with Erin, or Andy’s own thoughts about how things just aren’t going to work out because of that pesky immortal/mortal problem. These are real issues which would affect their relationship and they’re raised and then just… forgotten about.

I did enjoy this, but I wished it was about 25% longer to deal with all the plot points that were left floating. Four stars.

Erin didn't think verbally cursing her husband would do anything other than release her anger; until a demon in a bow tie turns up for breakfast.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Erin is merely coping after her divorce. Everyone knows that she's the poor little wife, whose husband cheated on her with her ex-best friend. Everyone can see her ex-husband Mark is living happily with his pretty new girlfriend, Genevieve.
Erin is left in limbo. She has lost their house, lost their friends, and doesn't know where to start rebuilding her life.
In the middle of a heated row with Mark, she curses him with words, never dreaming that a rather hot demon would answer her call.

Andromalius (Andy) is ready to throw everything at the scumbag ex of his new friend Erin. No prank or payback is too small or petty for this demon.
He wants to do more than get revenge, he wants to help Erin find her way in life, post-divorce.

The description for this book was very misleading. Yes, Andy becomes Erin's fake boyfriend, and goes to Mark's second wedding; but that's really near the end of the book, and isn't the main focus. If anything, it's the final push to get Erin and Andy together.

Instead, the book focusses on all the little things that makes you feel better about yourself, which is the ultimate revenge.
I like that it wasn't all about the romance between Erin and Andy.
Andy persuades Erin to start treating herself properly, with good food that she likes. She's spent years pretending to like meat, because that just seemed a necessary quality in Mark's wife.
Erin also makes a great friend in Raya, the librarian at school. Raya is just the sort of friend Erin needs, a woman who takes no nonsense, and will support Erin, no matter what. It kinda emphasised how flaky her old friends were - no one sided with Erin after Mark and Genevieve broke her heart.
I love that it looked at witch-craft in a serious way, and that this was another avenue that Erin was exploring in her new life.

The not-so-good.
The tone of the book varied quite a bit, and I wasn't entirely sure what the author was aiming for.
It had some really good moments, with Erin finding her way, and highlighting what was important in life; but then there were lots of slapstick moments that were just plain awkward and try-hard.
Andy and Phoenix are demons, but that hardly seems to matter, except to spice up the premise. The most demonic thing Andy does is to make Mark's trousers fall down at church; and to make thought boards with Erin, where they brainstorm the most mundane and overdone pranks.

As much as I really wanted to love the characters, they were really childish and immature.
They felt more like college students, than actual teachers.
Again, the tone wasn't quite right, and any humour they were trying to stir up just felt awkward.

Overall, this was a 3.5 out of 5 for me.
I really liked some parts of the story, and I would be interested in continuing the series.

The cover caught my attention a couple of weeks ago so I decided to try it and to be honest, I'm kinda disappointed.

When I first read it I fell in love with Andy. He is the sweetest hero, kind, caring, loving, everything that Erin needed, but I didn't feel the chemistry between Andy and Erin at all, their wasn't much that showed me there feelings for each other. And what bothered me the most is Eric actions throughout the book with her ex- friend, husband and even her friend from school. She seemed that she doesn't have any self confidence in herself. She was like a doormat letting everyone hurt her including her mother. I just wanted her to step up a little.

This a was cute paranormal romance with a new outlook at demons and their role in modern times. My only complaint was I felt like most of the characters were one dimensional. They seemed nice enough but I never felt like I really got to know them.

I liked the title, bought into the advertising blurb, and read the book. I even overlooked its cover. I rarely select books with cartoon covers. They always seem to be trying too hard, practically screaming that they will be absolute laugh-riots and readers will love-love-love them. Well…wrong, wrong, wrong. I didn’t.

I can’t decide what genre this book belongs in. The story is not a romance, isn’t a thriller, there’s no mystery. It is not funny, although parts of it pretend to be. And while there’s plenty of churchiness, complete with religiosity, it is not a Christian book, nor any other religion, for that matter. Not even Wicca, for all that there’s a resident witch who is actually more of a bitch than a witch. [Pardon my language, please] It could be deemed paranormal, but it’s trying for slapstick a bit too much to fit in well with most of that particular genre. I had such hopes for this book. What’s not to enjoy? A jilted woman. A cheating ex-husband…with the wife’s ex-best friend. A need for revenge. And a cute, vengeful demon to help that revenge along. Could have been delightful. It wasn’t.

The writing is uneven, the pace is slow, the characters dull, and the plotline was left on some roadside. Erin is the jilted ex-wife who accidentally calls up a demon when she curses her cheating ex-husband. Undeniably implausible…otherwise, we’d be neck-deep in demons let loose by cursing ex-spouses. However, the reader can suspend disbelief and plod on.

We meet Erin’s mother, Joyce…who is weirdly trippy, telling her daughter in chapter 2 that Erin and Mark (the cheating ex-husband) are a great couple. She doesn’t see the couple as split up, let alone divorced, and what are people in church thinking…??? Whatever purpose the mother serves is well hidden. Maybe she’s the voice of smalltown Christianity. I don’t know…. Okay…the reader can once again suspend disbelief and move on.

Next, we meet the demon, Andro-something (because Erin can’t remember Andromalius); she calls him Andy. He’s a Great Earl of Hell but apparently Hell doesn’t follow the same royal rules as Earth. Andy’s buddy-demon, Phoenix, is a duke, yet allows Andy (a mere earl) to order him about. Okay…suspend disbelief and move on.

We meet Raya in chapter 6, with whom Erin works, and who is revealed to be a witch powerful enough to conjure up and evaporate demons without even a twitch of her nose. Huh. She’s rude and borderline obnoxious, all in the name of good, clean fun, I suppose. She can conjure and dispose of powerful demons but can’t help move teaching equipment and supplies from one classroom to another. Okay, suspend disbelief and move on.

Except I came to the end of my rope of suspended disbelief. I finished the book but that was pretty easy to do because It’s blessedly short – if a book about a demon can be called blessed – and is a natural candidate for speedreading.

I rated it 2.5 stars and rounded down. I could create a list of plausible reasons for the low rating, but the truth is I’m angry. The premise was…and still is…great. Think about it: a hunky demon comes to Earth to help heap revenge on a cheating ex. Wow: demon-revenge. And the ex-husband really is a terrible sort and so easy to dislike. And wouldn’t it be supremely cool if Andromalius and Erin fall for each other? So…all the elements are here for a fine afternoon spent curled up in a comfy chair with hot cocoa and some chocolatey goodness…and for company, a book with a great premise and even greater advertising. BUT…the good time never materializes. What a waste of a most excellent premise. Not to mention a most excellent demon’s name, Andromalius. That’s why I’m angry. So much promise. And so little delivered.

This is the first book in the Supernatural Sweethearts series and is a brilliant, funny, paranormal romance - an absolutely hilarious read!

Erin is fed up with her cheating ex-husband, Mark, and accidentally lays a curse on him. She certainly never expected it to result in Andromalius, a handsome Great Earl of Hell, to appear in her life to help her get her revenge! Get ready for some fantastic antics as the two, later with the help of a witch and another demon, plot together..... and find that sometimes the best revenge is to show just how much you're loving your life without them - but with some fun revenge as well!

If you're looking for something out of the ordinary and fun, grab yourself a copy of this fun romantic comedy - it's uproarious and brilliant to escape into. I really hope there will be a sequel involving Phoenix and Raya - and that I get to read it soon!

I requested and was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of this highly entertaining read and this is my honest review after giggling my way through it!

I don't usually like to write a bad comment.. but I don't know why the rating is so high on this book ... it was written fine the storyline was fine the characters were ok but nothing major I didn't find it that funny and I found that the heroin was a bit childish I don't know I liked him better than her and I was glad that I finished the book and I forgot it the second I was done with it !
I just wanted to have a good laugh and I was disappointed 😣 sorry 😣

DNF at 25%, so no star rating. This is so deadly dull. It also feels like there will not be enough spice for me, like the most they will do is a chaste kiss and some hand holding. If there is a steamy scene in here, it will come out of nowhere. They have no chemistry.

Also, he's a DEMON helping her get revenge, and the biggest thing he can come up with is leaving a fish in her ex-besties car and pants-ing her ex-hubs (underwear still on) at church.

Also, also: I hate her mom.

Excuse me - but where is the romance? Where is the revenge on the ex-husband?

This story meanders along buts fails to deliver... on anything. It's all glossy cover, cute title and no substance what so ever. Extremely disappointing.

A book for tweens.

Nothing against the writer, but this book was too tame for me. Light enough for a twelve year old. Not my cup o demon.

*I received a free ARC of this book with thanks to the author and Rachel Gilbey at Rachel’s Random Resources blog tours. The decision to review and my opinions are my own.*

Short and sassy, this demonic romcom starts with revenge on an ex, and quickly morphs into something kinder and more mature.

Erin curses her cheating ex-husband, only to find that the paranormal exists and she now has a demon taking over her kitchen and offering her flowcharts and posterboards full of petty vengeance. Which turns out to be quite a good way to distract and cheer an aching heart, in the short term.

In the long-term, Erin begins to discover that self-care, friendship and fun can be just as healing – er, more healing – than setting a demon loose on your past problems. Which is great because a) I’m not sure that the rather pleasant Andy has what it takes in the true-evil stakes and b) there’s definitely a little non-sulphuric chemistry going on between the two main characters.

My only minor quibble with the whole story is that it all seemed to happen at lightning speed (especially ex-Mark’s shenanigans) and I felt there was so much more to explore. The characters of Erin, Andy, Reya and Phoenix are such fun on the surface, but clearly have more complex depths, but the short form of the story prevented the author from really digging in to them in more detail, and I felt that was a bit of a shame!

Otherwise, this is an enjoyable, quick romp through a relationship rebound romance, with a dip into witchcraft, tarot and lucid dreaming to tempt supernatural appetites. I’d like to see more of the same!

“It’s ‘Come on, Erin,’ this and ‘Be reasonable, Erin,’ that when you want something, isn’t it?” Erin took a barefooted step forward.
Mark took a step back.
“You don’t have any claim on me. Not that you ever had any real say over what I do in the first place—but whatever I owed your sorry ass evaporated when you cheated on me and made a mockery of our wedding vows. I’ll go to church, or not, if I want to, for any reason or no reason at all. So you can take your stupid shirts and your ugly khaki pants and drive your ridiculous compensation car all the way to hell.” Erin pointed her finger at Mark. “May the Lord forsake you and the Devil take you!”
As she spoke, the last sliver of the sun disappeared behind the western horizon.

Never in a person's life has "say what you mean" or "be careful what you wish for" been more perfectly applied. Erin was merely venting her totally appropriate frustration with/at her ex-husband and POOF; she now has herself a demon at her beck and call. Say what? Exactly. Andy (for short) is not exactly what you think of when you say DEMON...I mean, he can be, but not in everyday life. He's actually on the eye candy side of things WITH fashion sense and yes ladies, he's available! *wink wink* Only thing is, he's here to exact the revenge Erin desired when she uttered her unplanned but oh-so-perfectly-timed curse. Yep...and some of the ideas he has are gonna have you holding your sides in laughter...but it's all good, and part and parcel to the humor aspect of the story, as Andy and his antics (or lack thereof) and a fabulous cast of characters help Erin realize that the best revenge really is living your best life...

If you take it at face value, laugh when you feel like laughing (like the church pantsing scene, or Andy's million-and-one lists of things to do to a certain ex, or heck, even the librarian that's definitely more), gasp when you feel like gasping (Erin's dream world really was a nightmare!), dig into the angst as well as the passion, you'll find yourself loving it for all its devilish charm!

3.5

I read this book for a blog tour, thank you to the blog tour organiser and the author for inviting me to take part in this tour and for providing me with a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This book was actually very hard to rate regardless of the enjoyment I got while reading it. When I realised that everything that happens in the blurb is what happens in the whole book, I was really rather underwhelmed and it felt like I had been played a bit. I like when I get surprises in a book, and that wasn't the case here. I did enjoy it, but my enjoyment was minimised by the fact that nothing is a surprise and nothing happens outside the main plotline. I would really have loved it more if there would have been another 100 pages or so after the events of the blurb because I just found it too short and like it didn't go anywhere.

The characters were funny, well fleshed out even though at times I found them a bit cliché. I do think this book was funny and it did make me laugh, but I also think it was a bit too generic for my liking.

Overall, it was an enjoyable book and a really fast read, it is only 200 pages long, but it was too short for my liking and there wasn't enough development, I might have enjoyed this one more if the blurb wasn't so obviously the script or the summary of the book, but it just felt a bit too convenient for me to like it more. I gave this book 3.5 stars because I found it lacking, but it was enjoyable and I would recommend if you like short, witty books, but do be warned that what you see in the blurb, is exactly what you get in the book.

I was hoping for some Lucifer (from the show) vibes with this book, and Andie definitely gave me a nod to that. He was all about his wine, coffee, suits, and upscale living. As far as demons go, he was on the more humorous side.

The book as a whole was lacking. The plot was exactly the description and didn't leave much for the reader to be surprised about. The premise of Andie helping to "curse" Erin's ex would've been great but other than the him having his pants fall down at church and the smallest "haunting" in his dream, it was non existent.

By the end of the book, I felt like I didn't learn much more about the characters than I did in the beginning and couldn't connect to them. The romance was also lacking. I could see the set up for Andie and Erin having a spark, but there wasn't any real movements towards that until the end.

Funny, Paranormal romance.
The book starts with Erin who wants revenge on her ex-husband who cheated on her with her best friend. That was when Andy comes into the story. He has his own plans and he agrees to be Erin’s boyfriend for the ex-husband’s subsequent marriage.
Through the story, Andy makes Erin realize that what she had until now was not a real life and that it was time that she started living life on her own terms. She makes new friends for herself, tries to find her own likes and dislikes. That was pretty sweet.
The slow romance between Andy and Erin was another cute story as they slowly come to understand each other.
Overall, it was an enjoyable paranormal romance story with a little humour sprinkled on it.

A fun little romp, very quick and easy read.
Pros: cute characters, pretty funny "play arguement" dialogue, overall very digestable and sweet
Cons: Because its so short, the pacing is a bit hard to get a hold of. There are a few minor storytelling issues (the one that got me the most was characters knowing someones name they just met with no introduction until they just say it in the paragraph).

Overall, I give it three stars not as a BAD thing, but because I think its a perfect "middle ground" story. Isn't my favorite, but isn't awful either. :)

Erin curses her cheating ex and lo and behold she gets a demon to help her get her revenge. Andromalius a Great Earl of Hell shows up with all sorts of fun ideas. Andy worms his way into her life by papering Erin and spoiling her aged dog. Along for comic relief and moral support are her witchy friend Raya and his demon buddy Phoenix. Erin’s mom nags her for her own good and actually pushes Erin to attend said ex’s wedding. Andy and Phoenix come up with ways to torment ex Mark and make him a better man. Loved the premise and results.

Erin is a firecracker and after-the-soon-to-be-ex husband is out of the house Erin opens a bottle a wine and curses his name. So its only perfectly natural to wake up to a sharp dressed Demon who is there to see her curse go through. We'll call him Andy and he'll be Erin's fake boyfriend, fake date, for Ex-husband's hasty new wedding? Along the way Witch Raya and demon Phoenix not only help torment Mark through nightmares they also enjoy going to the mall to find the perfect revenge date dress. Throw an old dog and nosy mother and you have Erin's new single life. Is she really single if she is paling around with a good looking Demon with nothing else to do?
The ending is sharp, you expect a few more pages at least, but I went into knowing the story would continue through Raya and Phoenix. You can make jokes or you can make death threats. Or Both. Enjoy the great characters you'll find in A Good Demon is Hard to Find.

3.5⭐️ A cute little cozy… demon book? Lmao
This was lighthearted, low-stakes with likable characters. Not much occurred in terms of action and spice, which are cornerstones in cozy books. Alls I know is I respect the author’s research in Witchcraft and the accurate portrayal of what the tarot cards meant. I liked the end and am interested in reading book 2 in the series.

Meh. This one just didn't catch my interest. It wasn't... terrible... but I just didn't enjoy Erin as a protagonist. Possibly it's the whole 'White, middle class, churchgoing, suddenly divorced from a complete loser' trope that just doesn't work for me. The idea was cute, but the execution was not for me.

"A Good Demon is Hard to Find" by Kate Moseman is book one in the "Supernatural Sweethearts" series. Erin accidentally summons the demon, Andromalius (Andy), while she is cursing her ex-husband. This was such an enjoyable read. The characters were great, and Kate's writing style is absolutely wonderful. My favorite part is when Erin, Andy, Phoenix, and Raya go to the mall to shop for a dress. I can't wait to read the next book in this series to see what happens next.
