Kanak Thakkar has decided this Christmas is going to be the best one ever, and Santa help anyone who gets in her way!
From gigantic Christmas trees to life size Santas, reindeers and elves, to enough decorations to cover a small city, she’s turned Il Cuore into Santa’s little village itself. And still, it doesn’t seem to be enough. She is determined to give her a child a memory to cherish forever…never mind that said child is still inside her womb and not due to enter the world for another two weeks.
Summoned to Il Cuore for a magical Christmas, the gang gathers for an epic reunion. What follows is a madcap caper of hijinks, parental fails, communication mishaps, and couple wars that have even Masha running for cover.
Armed with her exquisitely detailed spreadsheets and her armloads of planners, Kanak will leave nothing to chance. This WILL be the best Christmas ever…

Isn't it just amazing how each new book in the series brings back our favourite characters from the previous ones? It's like catching up with old friends who never fail to entertain and surprise us. Who wouldn't want to know how all those swoon-worthy couples are living their happily ever afters?
But in this particular case, all I wanted was more of Akash and Kanan. They were hands down my favourite couple out of all the protagonists I've ever read from this author. Especially Kanan's passion for plants and her wild hair experiments. Iconic! I read their book back in 2023, and even now, I can recall every little detail, including Akash's borderline obsession with his pristine white shirts. They were a duo that left a lasting impression!
Alright, yes! I am getting carried away here. But then here is the catch—I read the conclusion only because I wanted to read about them. To my utter delight, it was mostly about Kanan and the political heir who was so madly in love with her, that he would bring the world down to ashes if she desired.
The Il Cuore Christmas Novella wrapped up in a flash, a speedy one-sitting read that had me hooked from start to finish. I devoured it the moment it hit Kindle, yet here I am, lazy enough to write a review for this unforgettable book that's etched in my brain.
While each character possesses their own charm, the one that lingered in my thoughts throughout the entire series was the enigmatic Vikram Thakkar. There's something captivating about characters who exist solely in thoughts, conversations, recollections, and in this case, in the faint grumble of thunder whenever his friends missed him.
I have a feeling you tend to gravitate towards the characters who have never been alive. The conclusion for those rooting for Vikram couldn't have been more fitting, and perhaps he had a tale worth telling after all. I absolutely, positively, and undeniably adored every single moment of it.
The impact this book had on me is so profound that I can still feel the same emotions I experienced when I read it on December 21, 2023. And here I am, scribbling this review on June 5, 2024, still under its spell.
So go ahead, dive into the entire series before delving into the final instalment, trust me, it's a journey you won't regret!
Shilpa never ceases to amuse me. God, these couples are itched so deep into my hearts I know I am never going to forget any of them. Kanak and Karam have been my absolute favourites. And both of them proved it again in this beautiful special' editor that I was right all along when I put them up in top positions. Kanak and Akash ❤️😭😭 Karam and Shikhs 🔥🔥🤌🤌 the rest two Maya and ved are also perfect in their own way but Kanak and Karam 😭😭😭 I could neve get enough of them specially with their respective partners. Thank you Shilpa for the another blockbuster edition of Il Cuore.❤️
My rating: 4.8/5 This came in as the perfect respite when I was looking for a Christmas special book by an Indian author. Though I've not read the other books in the series, this one worked as a standalone too, where meeting, reading about, and knowing the characters for the first time did not confuse me. And in fact, it made me curious enough to check out and read each individual couple's story from the 4 mixed together in this funny, dramatic, and all feels done right, festive book.
Il Cuore by Shilpa Suraj is a novella that follows the story of four couples, gathered in their villa, called Il Cuore. It is a heartwarming tale around the Christmas season, where a pregnant woman named Kanak leaves no stones turned to make Christmas the best experience for all of them. With fun, chaos, and lots of craziness this story would keep the readers to stay till the end making them laugh, cry, and even feel pity for the characters at some point.
