Brigitte, "Gitte," Tamar was born in a small rural Oregon town. Growing up, she was enthralled by scary tales featuring poetic tones and consistently gravitated towards writing darkened narratives. In the different storylines, Brigitte explores the harsh realities of social issues faced by today's generations. This includes the dark outcomes brought on by peer pressure, addiction, homelessness, mental illness, childhood trauma, and abuse. She feels it is essential to share narratives that refrain from sugarcoating the topics society tends to shy away from.

This was a fun well written psycological thriller which initially focuses on you young mother to be and a deal she makes with hopes of making a better life.
With plenty going on throughout, Tamar manages to create many vivid and memorable moments as this story weaves it's way to the conclusion.
Ultimately I gave this three stars due to developing a strong dislike for the main character and on occasions finding it difficult to truly understand what was going on.
With that said ill be sure to check out some more of the authors work in the future.

When trying to make a deal with the devil, one should really think about the deal and the consequences before agreeing. The devil already knows what a person desires above everything so when he offers the very deal you have thought was only in your mind, one should think twice before making any kind of agreement. This book moved at a quick pace. The author has a way of writing that you feel exactly as the character in the book. Every time Rich ‘woke up’, I swear, I was confused as he was as to where we were. The writer also allowed for many times the people involved could get out of trouble but the person’s greed prevailed over safety. I have read several books by this author and the end of each book makes you ponder over one’s own life choices.

Alright, buckle up, folks! Brake Check is one heck of a rollercoaster ride you won't want to miss! Imagine this: it's 1972, scorching summer in North Carolina, and drama's about to hit the fan faster than a souped-up race car. Loretta's promising her unborn son the moon, and boy, does she deliver—just not in the way you'd expect. Think cheating scandal meets twisted fate, with a side of pulse-pounding suspense. This book had me on the edge of my seat, flipping pages faster than a pit crew changes tires. So, if you're ready to rev your engines and dive headfirst into a world of 70s drama and dark secrets, "Brake Check" is the book for you! Trust me, this one's a real thrill ride!

In the book Brake Check when the mother of a newborn makes a deal with the devil she isn’t prepared for the fallout which includes her falling in love with him her son becoming a racecar superstar and so much more. I love books by Jett Tammer but this one is definitely superior to any other. I love the fact that she thought anyone who dies gets insurance whether you paid it or not. There were so many lol moments in the book plus lots of gruesome moments as well and it all makes for one entertaining read. I want to thank Book Sirens for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

While I did not expect the devil to be involved In this book I actually thought it was quite an interesting addition. It was the first thriller I have read where there was a religious aspect… or well not religious… the opposite! It was quite thrilling to read and I loved how the story developed.

I wish we got to learn more about Rut… felt like his character should have developed more. Other than that, this was a really fun read!
