"I think whether you want to confide in your friends and whether your friends worry about you when you're depressed…are two different things."
This volume was so so so heartfelt, and so very grateful that Hananoi lets Hotaru be herself and lets put her friends first! Not saying Hotaru doesn't put Hananoi first, but despite that Hotaru has and is changing because of him (I would definitely say in a good way!), Hananoi has never tried to change that part about her caring for her friends and wanting to be there for him. I almost got teary-eyed when he said that was something he loves about her because I feel that is who Hotaru is: Caring for everyone around her.
Saying all that, the majority of this volume really focused on Hotaru and her friendships, though specifically with Shibamu. I definitely felt my heartstrings being yanked on and feeling emotional more than once because it was so touching! This series excels at showing how wonderful friendships can be, and how hard to! I really loved when Sensei spoke about the fact that we're allowed to set and have boundaries (even with friends!), but that it's important to explain why we have those boundaries too. Beautiful beautiful messages that I love seeing conveyed!
The ending was fantastic! I want to share so much about it but I don't want to spoil it either. LOL! But I will say that it ended on a cliffhanger and left me eagerly and a little bit nervously looking forward to the next volume!
I do hope that in a later volume, we will once again see Hananoi dressed up in all the different costumes/cosplays he wore in this volume because I LOVED seeing him dressed differently! It was so much fun!
This series definitely continues to be amazing, with me loving another volume!
I think what I liked the most about this volume is that while it mainly focused on Hotaru’s friend: Shibamu, it didn’t feel like Hotaru and Hananoi took that much of a backseat in terms of the plot. They still got to have cute moments as well as help out Shibamu with her own relationship struggle. I always really enjoy reading about school festival day(s) since I didn’t experience it myself. Overall, I was really happy with this volume until the last few pages! Now my anxiety is going up a bit and I hope nothing too negative happens to Hotaru (emotionally) with the possible introduction of the mean girl from her grade school. I’m both nervous and excited for what’s to come in this next volume.
I enjoyed this volume a lot but Shibamu's crush on her teacher just makes me feel uncomfortable (even if they have know each other since before he became their teacher). I know is normal to have crushes on older people/nice teachers at that age (I had them too) but the fact that she has confessed to him so many times even though he keeps rejecting her just doesn't sit good with me and being this a shoujo I'm sure they'll end up together when she's "older"(just as she plans to) but still, I don't like it.
The art is still gorgeous as ever and I loved the last chapter with Hotaru and Hananoi (he's still intense but he's trying to tone it down and I'm so grateful for that) so I can't wait to read more.
Chapter 33: Our First School Festival (1) Chapter 34: Our First School Festival (2) Chapter 35: Our First School Festival (3) Chapter 36: Our First School Festival (4)
School festival, in love with person who’s in love with someone else, and in love with teacher cliché packed into one volume. Also, we ended on a dramatic image of a mysterious person…. Who are they!?
I already know who they are because I have the next couple volumes, but let’s pretend that I don’t know, okay. Let’s pretend that I don’t look ahead to make sure I can prepare myself for worst….. Heaven forbid something irreversible happens to make me change my entire opinion about the plot and characters….. Okay, fine, I like spoilers!! It brings me peace of mind to know how something will play out while I watch it. Why watch something in suspense; when you can read the wiki plot? It’s normal okay! I swear!
Anyway….. the boyfriends face when he saw that person kinda screamed disbelief mixed with fear? No, maybe worry. His eyes screamed “help” to me. Sooooo, I will be preparing for a fight. (ง •̀ゝ•́)ง I don’t know what they will bring in terms of plot, but I’m prepared to go down swinging for my girl!
One of these days, I will remember how to spell the characters names, but it is not tonight! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This volume was focused on Shibamu, her crush on Hozumi since she was little and her friendship with Hibiki and Hotaru. When Hotaru and Hibiki tried to support Shibamu when she was hurting because of the rumors about Hozumi getting married, she treated them badly and pushed them away, but Hotaru and Hibiki tried their best to help her (with the help of Hananoi) and in the end it all worked out. Everyone has their struggles and sometimes people are so used to handling them alone that when someone tries to help them, they don’t like it, which is what happened here. I also enjoyed how Hotaru and Hananoi had their sweet moments together, it was so cute when Hananoi saw Hotaru with the bunny ears and then when everyone helped find Hananoi’s earrings! The end was a bit unexpected but let’s see how things go with Sakura back

The school festival is here and while that does have it's cute moments with their costumes and the planning, the real drama is with Shibamu and the class teacher, Hozumi-sensei. Even Hanananoi seems to be all in when he hears about the situation and Hotaru's plan to try and help her friend. Unfortunately, it looks like they solve one problem to possible find a new one as it seems Hanananoi has spotted Hotaru's old friend who is responsible for her middle school trauma. That could be a bad confrontation in the making.

Ugh, so good!! It was nice to see some development between some of the side characters and their relationships with others. Hotaru really cares about her friends, so the friendship trope was really good in this volume! Also, the cliffhanger at the end!!!!! I have been getting these through the library and the next volume isn’t ready for me to put a hold on it yet 😩 I am really enjoying this series, so if you need something cute, swoon-worthy, and fun to read over a weekend, I recommend picking “A Condition Called Love” up 💞
I see some people complain about Hananoi and i can understand so of the critics but with all of the trauma he's been through, i'm surprised more people are more empathic to his plight. Never has he pushed Hotaru, he's given her space for her friends and family and truly works to be a better healthier version of him. is he perfect? no but very rarely are teens or manga protags. He's really trying and i see that and i appreciate that.
Hananoi was a smooth operator during this volume when he was having his tender moments with Hotaru during the school festival. You can definitely see the growth that Hananoi has had since the beginning of this series. He no longer has to be by her side 24/7 and is allowing himself to open up to his classmates. I didn't mind the Shibamu crush on her teacher focus in this volume since it is common in romance manga to have a storyline like this.
AAHHHHH OMG THIS WAS BEAUTIFUL!!! I think the plot between Shibumi and the teacher was handled extremely well, especially considering what a delicate situation something like that would be. also, I love how we see Hotaru get to pay back Hananoi kun by finding his earrings like he helped her in the first book!!! this is genuinely such a cute series and I can't wait to read the second arc!!! I NEED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THEIR PASSTTT!!!
In no way I liked the way they started dating tbh it looks borderline unhealthy and hananoi has more red flags than any of my exs altogether but as a friend of mine would say red is my favorite color. Anyways, might be a me problem but it's not fair how things are only getting interesting by the end of this volume...why do you think it's funny to make me suffer like this??? 🚶♀️
4.5 out of 5 stars: I loved seeing Hotaru grow not in her relationship, but in her friendships and what kind of friend she wants to be. The way Hanoi is learning to share her time, support her, and also realizing he has friends in their classmates too.
The cliff hanger did have me a bit on edge so I can't wait to get to the next one.
I wasn't a fan of everyone pushing the Shibamu and Mr. Hozumi romance. Why wasn't there a single person saying he's our teacher? Or he's a little too old for you? Yeah I get she knew him before he became her teacher but why wasn't anyone like a teacher and student dating isn't a good luck.
Even though we have an age gap thing happening in this volume there are a lot of great moments epsecially among the three friends. The collage pages from the festival were done really well too. I'm also rooting for the co-worker.
The growth that the characters have gone through, my heart feels so warm! Dreading what is to come in the next volume when the past is seemingly catching up with them.
