Caught between two worlds, she holds a power that could change everything…
Avery Hollis has always preferred being outside in the rugged Montana mountains than indoors. On an annual camping trip at Quartz Mountain with her twin sister, Avery wants nothing more than to explore the wilderness. When a brutal bear attack propels Avery into Aeritis, the land of the Fae, Avery is left unsure of her sister’s fate back in Montana.
Rescued from near death by Savine, a jaded rebel leader, Avery finds herself trapped in an intricate world of power and magic with no way home. As Savine battles to overthrow the tyrant king, Avery becomes an unwitting pawn in his game of strategy and rebellion.
But Savine's reasons for saving Avery are more than political. He senses an awakening within Avery—a power that could shatter the boundaries of their world. Yet, the undeniable connection between them could bring them together in a way neither of them ever expected.
ARC Review of Quartz Mountain ***SPOILERS AHEAD****
This book captivated me from the very beginning. I was literally invested from the first page and was internally screaming || who’s coming??? || to myself. It grips you at the start, urging you to keep moving forward to find an answer to a question you barely know.
From the start, Savine is sent on a chase that seems to lead to a foreboding ending as the trees he calls his friends won’t speak to him. After a struggle to keep his own sanity, he finally finds freedom in the silence. That is, until the forrest explodes into an ominous prophecy of what’s yet to come but that’s all we get of Savine at the beginning. We’re abruptly cut off from what he learned twenty-five years ago as we’re thrust into meeting Avery.
Morgan and Avery, the twins, seem like a stark contrast of one another. We see this first at the “hey, bear!” encounter on their hike to the lake. Morgan doesn’t seem to have any real sense of danger when it’s all Avery can feel as they hike to the peak of Quartz Mountain.
It wasn’t very long before our characters met their first real challenge and I can honestly say I hadn’t expected it. There was no soft entry to the trauma that led to our main characters meeting and I found myself left with more questions than answers. Who are they really? Where was Morgan? Where had Savine been?
Savine and Avery seem like the perfect pair - both tortured souls thrown together by unexpected circumstance. The mate bond snaps in to place very quickly, even if it’s not acknowledged. I will say that, to me, this happened a little fast and I would’ve liked to have seen more interaction between them before it occurred that I could pick up on as the reader.
I’m not going to lie, I actually forgot Avery was supposed to have magic until it manifested at a crucial time for Savine, Garnel, Kyla and herself. I thought the magical essence we’d been seeing had been purely through the mating bond but it hadn’t. I found myself holding my breath and gasping in relief at the end of that scene. Avery, this small and tiny human, was becoming a force to be reckoned with amongst the battle and blood.
Our main characters are constantly fighting their inner demons and their past. At the same time, we find them fighting their instinct to embrace one another. While it starts out as a slow burn, we see a spike in their mated romance budding as it turns into a friendship at first that not many can rival. The denial of what they’re feeling somehow drawing them both closer to one another while trying to grapple with the reality of the world around them - a world of war for Savine and an entirely new existence for Avery.
Without the full honesty spoken between them, Savine took on the trek of finding Avery once they were separated after a battle. From chapter forty on, you can except a relatively fast paced journey with trials of its own that will spark new questions. Will the bond be confirmed? Will Savine make it in time? Can Avery hold out long enough for Savine to come to her?
It truly is a slow burn, and I will admit there were a few parts that were hard for me to read through. We go from a strangers to lovers quickly; however, and get to experience their budding romance. Before they can experience it themselves, their worlds are again ripped apart and changed by the cruelty and torture of the two kings who do evil better than anyone.
I found myself riding out the moments of passion, pain and friendship as if I was there and experiencing it in real time. I held my breath more times that I could count, willing everyone to be okay in the end. This book is full of love and loss, friendship and forgiveness with a cliff hanger that will leave you wanting more. It was all that I hoped it would be and is one I’ll be glad to add a physical copy of to my bookshelf. Do yourself a favor and do the same.

The first time I saw one of Audrey Lynn's posts talking about Quartz Mountain, I was immediately drawn in. I had a feeling it would be a book I would thoroughly enjoy. And I was right 💜
I was lucky to receive an ARC from the author, and I will share my honest opinion.
I genuinely have luck finding beautifully crafted books to read as ARCs. Quartz Mountain is no exception—it deserves so much more than the 5 stars I can give it. How do I describe my love for this book? Well, for starters, if you are a fan of the Outlander books and TV show, you will love Quartz Mountain, just for the premise of a time-traveling strong and capable FMC. Of course, the stories differ significantly, but the time-traveling premise connects them. Avery Hollis, a spirited and adventurous protagonist, stumbles into a portal, transporting herself to a fae kingdom embroiled in civil war. Her arrival sparks a rescue by Savine, a rebel fae leader, and the male main character. And so, the tale unfolds... I won't divulge more of the plot to avoid spoiling it, but rest assured, the book is filled with thrilling twists and turns. Quartz Mountain is a unique blend of faes and witches, portal fantasy romance, prophecies, goddesses, and a slow-burn fated mates storyline. It's a book that offers so much more than your typical fantasy romance novel.
Audrey Lynn's writing style is a delightful blend of the unexpected, much like the fusion of two worlds. The narrative unfolds at a pace that allows you to immerse yourself in the story and connect deeply with the characters, both the main ones and the supporting cast. This is what makes Quartz Mountain a 5-star read – you'll find yourself emotionally invested in everyone's journey. The story ends on a minor cliffhanger, leaving us eager for more as we anticipate the second book in The Lost Realm series. I, for one, can't wait for it to be released!
My Review: ✨✨✨✨✨ Do you like books with: slow burn, fated mates, romantasy, high adventure, unexpected heroines, witty banter, unique world building, low stakes cozy settings mixed with high stakes moments, one horse (but make it one elk)......? Then Quartz Mountain is for you!!? Quartz Mountain is basically a romantasy mix of TOG meets Outlander! And I was here for it!!! Easily a 5 ✨ read for me! The world building, unique concepts, main characters and even the side characters are all well developed and well written! I cannot believe this is Audrey Lynn's debut novel!!! This is one of those books that after it's finished you start to miss the characters and world. This book stays with you! Quartz Mountain captivates you from the start and leaves you wanting more! I can't wait to visit with Avery, Savine, the gang and the world of Aeritis again in book 2! Quartz Mountain is the first book in the Lost Realm Series by Audrey Lynn. It ends on a cliff-hanger - be warned.... and I cannot wait to get the next book in my hands! Book 2: Sapphire Falls will be released in August of 2024.

Favorite Quote: “You lie so pretty, little flower.”
Thank you, Audrey Lynn, for the opportunity to receive your debut novel in exchange for my honest review!
What kind of romantasy tropes do you like? I ask because I nearly guarantee your favorites are in this book. But what I can absolutely guarantee is that this book gives modern day, unexpected twists all throughout while still giving us the standard tropes that we have all come to love. Fae & witches, touch her and die, fighting fate, discovering unknown powers, unfulfilled prophecy, and SOOO much more.
I was unable to put this book down!! Had me snagged from the very beginning. I instantly latched on to our FMC as she is written as a super relatable confused human thrown into a strange world. The growth of not only our FMC Avery but many other characters throughout this book show that overcoming traumas (whether mental, physical, emotional) will bring people together and point to a better future. Fair warning though, this baby ends in ONE HELL OF A CLIFFHANGER!!! And it will leave you screaming for more!
I cannot wait for this book to be released into the world on 2/6/24. Thank you again to Audrey for the ARC of this book. I very much look forward to rereading this over and over. And really want to book two already ;)
i was excited to read this book, but the writing is not working for me. it’s like the author has a list of things that the characters are supposed to do and say and she just unchecks the box after every single sentence. it’s unsmooth and dry. the dialogue feels unnatural and awkward. there was also a pov of the mmc’s sister, but it was not to bring anything relevant to the plot but to infodump some things about hero’s past and presumably make him likeable? and i hate telling instead of showing, so it immediately irritated me.
i don’t know, maybe it gets better, but i don’t feel like forcing myself to finish another mediocre fantasy romance book just to regret wasting my time on it later.
I haven’t read an amazing fantasy in a long time until now. This fantasy by Audrey Lynn is amazing.
Outlander meet Fae is the perfect way to describe this book. This book has action, storyline and some romance mixed in.
Audrey has a way of describing the world and the characters that live in it. I can picture everything that is going on. This is a complex world building so you never have to worry about getting lost. Even without the complex world building Audrey has made a great realm.
We also get some great chemistry between Avery and Savine. There is minimal spice but because of the chemistry you don’t miss out on the romance.

Genre: APK: Ebook Pages: 487 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️ Series or Standalone: Book 1 in the Lost Realm Series
I don’t even know where to begin. This book was such a fun and quick read for me. I felt like I was truly propelled into Aeritis with Avery. She is such a fun and relatable character and I enjoyed following her into the land of the Fae. This book had me giggling and kicking my feet with the amount of tropes included. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and 🌶️🌶️🌶️. Quartz Mountain will be released on 2/6/24 and available on KU.
I really enjoyed the overall plot and the portal magic. It was like Outlander, but instead of falling through time, the fmc falls through dimensions into a fae realm. While I loved the overall premise, the execution fell flat. I thought the writing felt dry. I didn't think the characters or their emotions felt very genuine. I doubt I will be continuing on with the series.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️ This portal fantasy romance follows 21 year old Avery Hollis who gets unexpectedly ripped away from her twin sister as she gets thrust into this fae parallel world that is vibrant, beautiful, and much more dangerous. She wades through her own grief and the unknown to fully immerse herself into this magical world where she learns to embrace her fears. Ignoring her magnetic pull to a handsome rebel leader and fueled by the desire to take action, she begins to accept her prophecized fate. Will she embrace love, friendship, and new beginnings? Will she ever find her sister? Will she ever be brave enough to accomplish her seemingly impossible task? Read Quartz Mountain to find out!
Feedback: 🌹Initially, I felt the dialogue between characters was a bit unnatural, however, it improved more and more throughout the read! 🪷I personally struggle with characters that perpetuate their self-loathing. The character’s feelings were warranted, but this was something I found difficult to read at times. 🌻The world building was top notch and immersive. The quaint town of Bayberry gives cottagecore vibes! 🌼The plot was unique and I loved the battle scenes! The cliffhanger at the end was not devastating, but kept you wanting to dive deeper into the next book. 🌸The side characters were loveable and the MMC was the perfect amount of rough and grumpy versus undercover cinnamon roll. 🧡 Savine has RESTRAINT!
I received an ARC copy of this book which is 90% of the reason I finished it.
From the beginning until about 30% into the book, I wanted to DNF. Mostly due to personal preferences and awkward writing.
My personal preference: I have a difficult time rectifying a cross between modern and fae. Again, just preference. In my mind, when I read a fae book, they are “primitive” and “ancient” but having it start in Montana (which I knew going into it), using modern vernacular, and modern technology and then bringing that modern vernacular and technology into a fae realm felt very awkward. Again, necessary. Modern is all Avery knows so obviously that’s all she can do.
Now, the writing was very awkward to me. As someone who cannot mentally visualize, dialogue is VITAL to me enjoying a book and this dialogue, even between the FMC and her sister, was awkward and choppy. It seemed to improve as the book went on.
Now, what changed for me around 30%. Well, the story started picking up, of course. The premise of this book is OUTSTANDING. Human girl fulfills a prophecy, falls into a fae realm, and fights along fae finding power she didn’t know she had. The execution was lacking a little for me. But I digress. The story picked up and it seemed like the dialogue improved. As our FMC and MMC became more comfortable, it seemed to have gotten better. The pace was decent after 30%, as well as story and dialogue. And the modern touches faded away the longer she spent in the far realm.
Now…the ending was semi-shocking and almost SOOOOOOO good. What killed it for me was the gun. Again, the cross between modern and fae.
This is an interesting story and I was very invested in the FMC and MMC relationship. I’m torn 50/50 on whether or not I’ll continue the series.

I could not get an enough of this book and can’t wait for the next one!
The MFC is so believable. Her reactions to everything that happens to, and around, her make sense. I feel like, if I had been in her shoes, I would not be able to be as strong as she is.
The MMC…. Well, what can I say about him other than Wow. Talk about a man who is focused on his goal and will stop at nothing to achieve it, even if it hurts him in the process. I loved everything about this man!
This is a great fantasy romance with lots of tense scenes, thrilling action, and emotional moments. I cannot recommend it more.
I am so glad I received the ARC from the author. It is such a good book!
As y’all know my opinions are never affected by how I get my books whether they’re gifted, won, purchased myself, or received for a book tour, etc.
Hey everyone! 🌟 I recently finished reading Quartz Mountain, a debut novel Audrey Lynn, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you all. Overall, it was a good book with some impressive world-building and interesting characters. However, I must admit that it didn't quite hit the mark for me personally.
The author did an great job creating a captivating world within the pages of this book. The attention to detail and the vivid descriptions truly brought the setting to life. I found myself immersed in the unique and imaginative world she had crafted.
Additionally, the characters were well-developed and had their own distinct personalities. Each one had their own quirks and complexities, which added depth to the story. It was refreshing to see such thoughtfully crafted characters in a debut novel.
However, despite the positive aspects, I felt that the book dragged a bit at times. The pacing seemed a little slow, and I found myself losing interest during certain parts. It's always a bit disappointing when a book doesn't keep you fully engaged throughout.
Moreover, I struggled to connect with the characters on a deeper level. While they were well-written, I didn't feel that emotional connection that makes a story truly resonate with me. Personal connection to characters is a crucial factor for me when it comes to fully enjoying a book.
Ultimately, while this book had its strengths, it just wasn't the right fit for me. However, I believe that others might find it more appealing, especially if they enjoy immersive world-building and unique characters. So, if you're a fan of those elements, I would still recommend giving it a try
ARC Reader ~ Some spoilers To start, I love the premise of being dropped into a fantasy world from the real world. Avery, the FMC, gets dropped into the middle of a Fae rebellion during a hiking trip in Montana. This fantasy romance promised tropes like dislike-->friends-->lovers, the one bed trope, slow burn, and 'touch her you die' vibes. 'Slow burn' and 'dislike' could be questionable, as I never actually felt like the FMC and the MMC truly dislikes one another. I think that because she was from the real world and he was from a fantasy world than they misunderstood one another more than genuinely disliked. Other than that their dynamic was flirty and fun and progressed nicely. I think if you're looking to support a self-published author and/or are looking for a fun fantasy read that checks off all the major romantasy tropes you should give this one a shot.
Now for the reasons it is only 2/5 stars in my opinion,
I really enjoyed the FMC, Avery, but when the MMC, Savine, referred to her as 'little' seven times on a single page when he first sees her I almost DNF'd. I'm all for the MMC being massive and jacked (I mean yum) but when the FMC is little and petite I can't help but get uncomfy, not like other girls vibes. [WHICH Avery did not give off those vibes at all! The repetition of her being little just really bothered me personally] The nature based powers the MMC has to communicate with trees is called 'mycilious' (like the way mushrooms communicate with plants) and the wolf shape-shifters are called 'wolven'. I love ye-ol' reliable tropes, not a fan of cliches.
From an editing and structural perspective, there are too many dialogue tags and too many times where the dialogue and following paragraph are repetitive. Ex. Avery says, "I have protein bars....let's take our bags off..." followed by a paragraph explaining in detail that the characters took off their bags and ate protein bars. There was a lot of 'tell, don't show' going on where the internal monologues and dialogues were really pushing information regarding world building. The prophecy revealed in the beginning of the story makes the plot, and potential future plots kind of obvious. I most likely won't be continuing this series.

While there were some original ideas, I felt that this book fell flat for me.
Tropes include but are not limited to: *hidden powers (in a mortal) *fated mates *prisoner *one horse (elk) *slow-burn *forced proximity *secret identity
I will admit that some of these tropes are not my favorite just because I've read them so many times. I get pretty picky about how they play out, and unfortunately, they just didn't hit the mark for me in this book.
The romance wasn't believeable for me and came off as kind of corny. I know there's a mate bond, but I still need to believe what they're feeling.
The dialog got cringey, especially as Avery and Savine started to talk about their feelings.
There was a lot of talk about the human realm, which some may like. Personally, I don't like reading a fantasy story with so much mention of the real world.
There were a ton of grammatical errors. I know it's an arc, but I felt there were many more than could be corrected in the short amount of time before the release.
Something about the tone or style of writing just didn't interest me. I was bored even when there was action.
Long story short, I feel like the whole book could use a lot of editing, as this came across like an early draft. I didn't feel connected to the story or the characters, and if it weren't an arc, I probably wouldn't have finished it.
Oh my gosh, if you’re seeing this review and you enjoy fantasy with a little spice, PLEASE ADD THIS ONE TO YOUR TBR!
I enjoyed this debut novel SO MUCH more than I expected! I could have read this in one sitting if life wasn’t so busy this past week. I want the sequel now and this book isn’t even published until tomorrow.
There were some familiar tropes in this novel but they way they were introduced just made me smile. I absolutely loved the dynamic between Savine and Avery. It gave fated mates vibes, but are they? The slow burn was done just right. I loved the character development and growth that came though too. The world building was light, but detailed when necessary, and I think that helped to keep this a fast paced read. The short chapters and regular POV changes kept the pages turning!
I this book finds its readers because I enjoyed it immensely and need there to be more to this series asap.
- 𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖 - ·Really enjoyed this one! Overall the story/characters were interesting and I was engaged the whole time! The world building wasn't too intense and everything was easy to grasp! I loved the portal & one elk trope 😆. That last chapter 🤯... with the book being left off on a cliffhanger I would definitely read on to be able to know what happens in the story!
· This was about a normal girl in Montana who went hiking and upon an incident happening, she was transported to another realm as a marked goddess in the middle of a Fae civil war! If you like a slow burn romantasy, with witches/fae, action, an urban fantasy concept and an interesting "one elk" trope, then I recommend to give this a try! Super quick and easy read!
I truly loved the world building and how it reminded me of Outlander with the parallel worlds. Unfortunately, I had a hard time liking Avery and Savine. I found that their relationship was very fast paced and it was hard to keep track if they liked each other or not. And there’s a quote in the book that describes my feelings perfectly: “Savine was going from arrogant and unkind to protective and caring way too quickly. Avery felt the mental whiplash from his change in personality”.
I felt this for both the characters unfortunately. But like I said, the world building had so much potential but the main characters felt lacking. This book could definitely be someone’s favourite but unfortunately it wasn’t mine.
I am so glad I stumbled upon the author's Instagram where she introduced Quartz Mountain! Once I dug in, I couldn't put it down 💜💜 This novel is a great addition to the romantasy genre, and it's a great setup for the rest of the series! The plot moves at a perfect pace, and just enough of the world is set up to leave room for more growth in future books while still feeling complete in Quartz Mountain.
I fell in love with Avery! She's a woman who enjoys working outdoors with her hands in an industry dominated by men, and as someone who works in the environmental field surrounded by dudes, I definitely relate 👀 She stands her ground and doesn't let anyone push her around, especially Savine 😏 Their interactions are *chef's kiss* 💜 I love a good grumpy MMC. I'll keep this short--read this book! I can't wait for Sapphire Falls to release later this year 🤩
This book is phenomenal!! Absolutely loved it.. I read the whole story without stopping for a breath. I love the characters, and felt emotionally connected to them right away. I smiled when they smiled, hurt when they hurt. Romantic and swoony, steamy and suspenseful.. Magical adventure that thrills and fires your imagination..
3.5 stars for me. Intriguing story but some of it fell flat and felt awkward. Fae using human slang and curse words, some of the text was just over particular on details, which author mentioned they were fixing. The cell phone staying charged seemingly forever, the Bayberries human/faes having like a human village? Just some details didn’t follow through. Definite promise for future books with more fine tuning.
I really enjoyed this book. The world building, characters, and plot were easy to follow and kept me interested. I really appreciated how the Fae were depicted in this book, as it’s a way I haven’t heard before. Each Fae has an essence and is in-tune with specific aspects of nature/animals - basically the world around them.
I really appreciated that Avery was an outdoorsy woman, however, the first 30% or so of the book I kept rolling my eyes at her because she seemed a little whiny - I could understand it due to the situation and circumstance, but I just like a more “brush it off” FMC if that makes sense.
Savine was a great MC and based off his description I got huge Jason Mamoa vibes (anyone else?). The plight of his people and his personal hurt make him truly like-able.
The only things i would have changed about this book was the multiple POVs - sometimes it just got too confusing with everyone’s comments - and it was a LITTLE slow for me. However, I would totally recommend this book as a great romantasy! And, uh, that ending?!?!
Wow! Top notch! The development story was amazing. I am absolutely in love with Savine and Avery. I wasn't expecting that cliffhanger of an ending. It gave me goosebumps.
I’ve been disappointed in several books lately and this just kind of added to the list. The MMC had potential to be really dynamic but kind of fell flat with so much repetitious telling about his trauma and personality instead of showing through the storytelling. I found a lot of the FMC’s chapters to be a chore. I know a lot of readers are looking for older FMCs in romantasy books. She’s 25, which is definitely older than your usual 19 year old FMC, but she is infinitely more annoying.
The dialogue was often awkward and clunky but overall the story and world building were enough to make it a decent read if you need something to get your fill of romantasy tropes. I felt like the story got substantially better in the last few chapters and showed a lot more of the writer’s potential.
This book has a lot of potential. The underlying story is there but I struggled with the inconsistencies throughout the book and the lack of development of certain parts. The book jumps right into a climax moment and ends with one, but neither one are elaborated on. I think just more time spent in editing and story development could make this something great.
The overall story of the book had promise, but the storytelling fell flat, the conversations between the characters felt awkward, and the writing lacked emotion.
Easily 4.5 ⭐️ I loved this take on fae and mortals and real world/fantasy world. Avery and Savine felt so natural and the supporting characters felt developed without detracting from the main plot and couple. Happy that it ended where it did, leaving me with questions of what's next, but without leaving me hanging off the side of cliff with no idea what's below.
If you enjoy slow burn, romantasy stories with adventure and banter with a little bit of spice - this book is for you.
Slide two will give you a full description of this story but wanted to add that I felt Audrey did an amazing job of connecting the two words here. I especially loved the cheeseburger scene! Lastly, the cliffhanger at the end of this is no joke the best [worst?] I have ever read! I need to know right now what happens next but have to wait!!!!
Sapphire Falls releases October 2024 - I CANT WAIT!
