Wilp.

A story set in the past, present, and future.

A dead body is discovered, and Samantha is sent to investigate. Little does she know that the body is the start of something bigger than anyone could have imagined. She meets Sean and learns the world is not what she thought, and with a prophecy hanging over their heads that tells of the end of the world, they set out to discover the truth.

With fairies, the Devil, Lilith, and succubi, the world will never be the same again. A talking brick helps them along the way, and things always seem to take a turn for the worse.

But, the question remains, just what is Wilp? Is it really more powerful than a god? Can it help save them all? Or is it, as the Devil claims, "complete bo%^&*$s."

I was allowed to read an ARC, and I think Wilp may be the best yet. I thoroughly enjoyed following Sean and Samantha along in their investigation. Once the Devil showed up, the fun began in earnest (as usual) as did the layers of complications (also as usual). Appearances by characters from other stories really helped tie everything together in one beautifully infernal package, though prior familiarity isn’t necessary to understand and appreciate this story. Ultimately I was left captivated and impressed - and will absolutely be re-reading.

If Dirk Gently met The Matrix... that still wouldn't accurately reflect the intricacies weaved into every single page of this book. Humanity, inhumanity, strangness, and yet a feeling of being ultimately and completely home and fundamentally understood on every page.

What is Wilp? Who is Wilp.
Stronger than God, the devil, luck, destiny or karma or merely a legend no one really believes in?

Sean bereft of his wife Laurna, destroys violently the man that killed her and then kills himself. He wakes to find himself changed. What is he?

Samantha, sent to investigate a strange and brutal death, seeks help from a changed Sean who leads her to a parallel world. A world familiar yet strange and populated with many beings impossible in her own world.

She discovers she has been recruited into a special division, the split crime department, that investigates incidents that cross the two realities.
Together they follow the trail of the suspect that leads to Sean discovering more about himself and the true nature of the parallel worlds and Wilp itself.

Wilp is brilliant. Well paced with new ideas and unexpected turns the narrative effortlessly pulls the reader through and to a creative, bizarre, very enjoyable and satisfying conclusion.

Wilp ties together Lee Wilson’s other books which makes it extra special and brings back some favourite characters from the other stories, it’s great to see the priest from A ghosts story return, Crystal from Outcasts and of course Lilith and the Devil himself.

I love this book, it’s fabulous. Privileged to read an ARC, I can honestly say I don’t think I have read anything like it before, a really fresh story, leagues beyond the usual.

Wilp has it all, murder, violence, horror, death, mystery, lost love, vengeance, humour, heart wrenching moments, parallel worlds, succubi, pubs and the end of the world?

If you want to experience a completely new concept in fantasy, sci-fi, horror (it spans the genre’s without even blinking) this is it.
It would make a great film or even better a binge worthy series on Netflix.

Once again, I'm left amused, delighted, and impressed. "Show, don't tell," is in full force here, and the imagery is superb. Strings indeed - seeing how these and other stories are interconnected and tied together feels like an inside joke I'm actually on the right side of.

Oh, THIS...I LOVE this. Being able to see the counterpoint of this story and the related others woven together has made the reading so much richer. Ghosts is grim, ghastly, a bit gorey, and absolutely, gloriously satisfying. This tale shall remain forever in my cold, dead little heart.

Picked up and finished in a day, this is a gruesomely twisting tale of a number of intertwining themes and characters, wrapped up in horror and gore. In parts shocking, other parts darkly amusing, this is another compelling tale from this author. Be careful when you wish for revenge...

Devoured these stories in a day. The Cursed Collection indeed. An examination of the mind. Thoughtful, provocative, and dare I say... a touch of hopeless.

This book may very well be the most originally structured tale I've ever read; a truly unusual and refreshing format. For those that enjoy a little horror and a lot of supernatural action, I recommend it very highly. I spent most of the book wondering what or who is Wilp and the big reveal at the end did not disappoint. Featuring many well known characters and some highly intriguing original ones, the story is written in a comfortably readable style - I was absorbed from the first page.

I've read a lot of self-published works in the last few years and compliment Lee on what he has achieved here. I would LOVE to see what he could produce if he had the team around him which his clear and insightful writing absolutely deserves. C'mon publishers, you won't regret it!

This is a really twisting - and twisted - tale, weaving a huge amount of themes, myths, legends and characters together in a fantastically dark, humourous and surreal narrative. The concepts of human nature, free will, AI, god and more. Sci-fi? No, not really... Just... Wilp. Buy this, read it and try very hard to avoid the shadows. Oh, and brickie as well. He's a wild card... I've loved every book that Lee Wilson has written and this is no exception. He deserves a much wider audience, so do share.

I accept I'm bias 😁 but even six months in I love this story.

I know I'm supposed to, but there it is. The twists and turns, the way things are brought together at the end.

I love every character and place, well except that damn brick that everyone else loves.

I write for me, so I'm also going to review for me.
