Priya Parrish's Little Book of Impact Investing was a quick and enjoyable read, simplifying a complex and multifaceted field in a little easy to digest book. As a well-known leader in this space, the author talks about the history of impact investing, how to become an impact investor, how to track and assess impact, the different forms of impact investing, and the future of the field. I especially enjoyed her earnest and passionate approach to sharing her thoughts on a field that continues to grow exponentially.
This is an excellent primer for anyone who wants to understand impact investing. Simple, clear, with real world examples. Buy a copy (or several of them) to give to old school investment professionals, board members, or promising students who want to make a contribution to the world. We are in dire need of more impact investors, making the most of our capitalist system. Not focused on personal benefit, but for society as a whole.
I’m biased because my boss wrote this, but I think this is a really thoughtful breakdown of the impact investing field and how it can be a powerful lever for social good. As Priya writes, “how we invest is another opportunity to live a life of integrity”. Would recommend for any kind of investor, big or small, new or seasoned!
