Sugar Cookie Christmas

Rate this book
A decade ago they eloped in Vegas, and not long after her father demanded they get their marriage annulled. Too bad the paperwork went missing, and they're actually still husband and wife.

Emma Watkins busted the century-and-a-half old myth that kissing your first love on the town's historical bridge ends with a happily ever after. They kissed all right and even got married. But then her world spun on her its axis and fell apart when Miles broke her heart and all his promises, so she followed her dream to New York and made something truly successful of herself. When her sister calls and tells her things are dire on the family Christmas tree farm, Emma is on the first plane home to help save things.

Miles has poured himself into being the best sous chef he can be at one of the most premiere restaurants the local ski resort has to offer. It's not the restaurant he always dreamed of opening himself, but he kissed that dream goodbye the night he left Emma waiting for him at the bus station, and never showed up. He never expected for her to come home, or to run into her almost everywhere.

And he certainly didn't expect to get paired with her again for the Sweetheart Games, especially when he didn't sign up.

The towns Matchmakers are at work again, trying to mend a marriage broken by young love and feuding families. Not only do they set Emma up for the annual Christmas bachelorette auction at the Christmas dance, they pair them together for the Christmas baking contest too. No matter how much distance they try to keep between each other, Emma and Miles find themselves stuck together at one holiday event after another, and eventually, their walls come down.

But will wounds from their past let them work enough toward the future to still have a happily ever after?

Monique writes sweet, no-spice, small town romances. While they might have a smidge of angst, you'll always find a happily ever after with swoony couples and character growth. When she's not writing, she can be found watching The Big Bang Theory or Friends (or a Marvel movie), on the water with her family, or reading a book. She lives in Texas with her husband of 18 years, four kids, two dogs (Thor and Loki), and a cat.

Sugar Cookie Christmas

This is a wonderful story of second chances and forgiveness. The four star review is because it needs a lot more editing. There are typos and misplaced words found abundantly throughout. I hope this author can find a good editor or proofreader to help her in the future because she has a good story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This was a charming story of forgiveness and second chances. There is a prequel to this story that I read prior to this to laid the foundation to this story.

I adored the dual POV format here. Seeing both characters' thoughts really help me to better understand and connect to them. I really needed it here. I wanted to shake both characters at times with all of the miscommunication and missed opportunities. BUT with seeing Miles' POV, I was able to understand why he felt the way he did (even if it frustrated me as well as Emma!)

Emma gets a call from her sister, Sophie, to come home and help save the family's tree farm. She takes an extended leave from the bakery that she manages in New York to go home to Colorado. The only thing she is dreading, seeing her ex-husband. The ex-husband that no one knows she married. The ex-husband who she married in Vegas. The ex-husband who was going to come with her to New York but at the last minute doesn't. Emma had been accepted into culinary school to help further her dreams of becoming a pastry chef.

Miles was blackmailed into staying in Colorado. He never lost faith in Emma in fulfilling her dreams and adventures in the big city. He never stopped loving her. He has been filling his time with working on the family ranch, as a sous chef and then he even started helping Emma's family on their tree farm next door. He is a big hearted man who hopefully will get a second chance with the woman who has held his heart since she was eight.

This is a sweet, clean romance that anyone would enjoy.

Oh my gosh, I LOVED this book!

Fate brings Miles and Emma back together when Emma returns home to save her family’s Christmas tree farm. Miles, who is now a sous chef at a local ski resort, is surprised to see Emma back in town. As they are paired together for the Sweetheart Games, they are forced to confront their past and work together to mend their broken relationship.

The author does an excellent job of depicting the struggles and challenges that come with second-chance romances. Miles and Emma’s journey is filled with ups and downs, but their determination to fight for their love and a future together is truly heartwarming. Readers will be rooting for them every step of the way.

Overall ‘Sugar Cookie Christmas’ is a beautiful and heartwarming novel that captures the spirit of the holiday season. It is a must-read for anyone who loves second-chance romances and stories that celebrate the power of love to overcome all obstacles.”

I feel as if I have just stepped off of the set of a Hallmark Christmas movie! This one has it all - second chance romance, snow, a Christmas tree farm, sugar cookies and Christmas decorations. All of these things make this a magical delight that will warm your heart and give you the warm tingles all over. Miles made the ultimate sacrifice when he let Emma leave ten years ago to pursue her dreams in New York, but she took a piece of his heart with her. Emma is hurt. She does not understand why Miles has allowed this to happen. Emma comes back to Sweetheart Springs to help her family's fledgling Christmas tree farm/business and work in the bakery. Emma and Miles meet again face to face. This is a second chance love story and a story of feuding families. It is also about sacrifice for the ones we love. I loved the characters in this story, and their engagement with one another. Christmas book lovers will LOVE this book! Reading this book makes me want to bake Christmas cookies!

I received a copy of this ARC from the author. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a wonderful and sweet second chance romance. I loved the effort and pining of the MMC. I felt that a lot of the supporting threads and storylines to the main second chance romance could have been finished cleaner. As in, it either happened to quick to process after a long wait without much explanation or time on it or after everything it was ever so subtly finished that you forgot it was to play a huge part if where things went. An example of this would be the whole Sweetheart Games (And meddling), her deciding to stay back or going back to NY, her father suddenly appearing (Questions like "was she not able to meet her father during this whole time" was running through my head), her father realizing his mistakes and also watching the MMC be a good man and not doing anything about it until that very moment (I mean, this I can kind of forgive since he was still grieving and hiding out) and her feeling guilty about people back in NY but given she felt that way, we didn't see a clean finish on her reaching out or keeping in touch with them.

Perfect Start to Fall and Winter

This book will leave you feeling so cozy and happy. I definitely recommend reading the prequel first, it makes this story even more enjoyable (but you don't HAVE to if you would rather just get started with this one). It's fun, romantic, and different from any other book you will have read. I also love that it ties into other books by Monique Brasher, that made it even more fun kinda like finding a treasure.

I fell so head over heels for the characters in this and the story is so fun and unique. I love that even though it was called Sugar Cookie Christmas, it wasn't cookie cutter Christmas story. It had so many fun elements to it that I haven't read in other Christmas books before.

I highly recommend this book and already preordered the next in the series. Can't wait to read them all. This book has left me in such a baking and Christmas mood. I could easily see this story being made into a movie one day (including the prequel)

I read the prequel short story to this and immediately had to go buy it. I absolutely fell in love with Emma and Miles.

And that prequel did not set me up for disappointment. This book was so good! It was like cinnamon freshly iced out of the oven.

Emma has become a bona fide success in New York. She won a reality bake show and has her own Youtube channel. But Emma's mom passed away in the ten years she has been gone and her family farm is in trouble.

So Emma goes home to help. And there is Miles. The love of her life. Her father tore them apart and Miles never in her mind fought for her. But being around each other brings all the old sparks.

There is so much more to Miles than Emma knows. But she slowly finds out. Also a huge secret is revealed and it is an awesome one.

I love this book so much! It is wverything I love in a Christmas romance. And an inkling at the end of the next story. I am intrigued!

4.5 stars⭐️⭐️ 2nd Christmas book of December 2025 —> done!! this is the main book in the Sugar Cookie trilogy. only 1 left!! i’m super excited to see the life of Miles & Emma after they have reunited in marriage. i 1000% recommend reading this trilogy, it is very clean and most importantly, Christ-centered. i rated the first book (aka the prequel) 5 stars, but this one i rated 4.5 ONLY because of how many grammatical mistakes there were in it. that is literally it. everything else is absolutely perfection which is why the large number of grammatical errors made me so sad!!! without them, it would 100% be 5 stars. anyways, overall, this is a wonderful story & it’s perfect to read during the Christmas season. i read it all throughout December of course, but the most on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day after❤️only 4 days left of December & 1 more book (aka the novelette) left!!!

A beautiful story of second chances, forgiveness, and fate.
This book was beautifully written. I absolutely loved Miles. The way the author portrays how Miles feels about Emma is so well written. Miles comes across as a real gentleman, and a genuine nice person.

I love all the festive feels in the book too. The Christmas tree farm, to the baking cookies, and the beautiful little town of sweetheart village. The village is portrayed as a cute, cosy little place, somewhere I’d love to live.

I love the dual POV as we can see both Emma and Miles perspective and get an understanding as to why they feel the way they do.

It’s a sweet, clean romance. It’s beautifully written and so heartwarming, anyone who reads it will enjoy it ❤️

This was my first read by this author, I was pulled in by the cover and the blurb. It is a nice story of second chances, focusing on Emma and Miles, who were married ten years ago before her father tore them apart in his misguided notion of protecting her.

Now Emma is back in her hometown for Christmas, to save her family farm, and confront Miles. Will they get their happy ever after the second time around?

A few typos and misplaced words, otherwise a nice, quick read, great for when you have an hour or so to fill.

Thank you to the author for a copy of this in return for my honest opinions.

Miles and Emma’s story is a sweet, touching and wonderful second chance romance. They were young sweethearts who were forced apart, but even after a decade their hearts still belong to each other. Fate has finally brought them back together and this time, both are determined to fight for their love and a future together. Emma learns what happened all those years ago and the reasons behind it. Secrets, forgiveness and redemption are all part of their captivating story. I look forward to reading more books written by this author.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

“You can’t give away all your pieces and forget about what you need.” Emma’s words of wisdom to Miles as they navigate the many changes, different seasons of their lives, so complicated because of secrets hidden for so long. As a successful baker with her own YouTube channel, a published cookbook and a measurable following in New York, Emma was suddenly called home to Sweetheart Springs to try to save the family farm. But can she face Miles again after the hurt and pain she was dealt? Will Miles finally divulge why things happened as they did? A great read by a great author!

Wonderful story about faithful love and forgiveness. Miles and Emma were married ten years ago but life and Emma’s father tore them apart. Such well developed characters that you can really get involved with. Miles and Emma’s reunion all they do together makes a great story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait for the next one.

Wonderful second chance at love! A father will do anything to protect his daughter from the son of his century old feuding neighbors. He realizes later that the feud was long forgotten and that it was only him still holding on to it.

Thanks to the author for providing this book for my honest review!

A good read that shows how you can follow your dreams and be successful at all you pursue and still not be fulfilled. The heart yearns for more; for belonging, for family, for connection. How important it is to have a great community that loves and values you, who helps in times of need, to benefit & bless everyone. A good story that tugs at the heart.

Just like a Hallmark movie…

I thoroughly enjoyed this second chance Christmas book. Emma and Miles were forced apart by her father ten years ago. Now, after ten years, Emma is back in Sweetheart Springs to save the family Christmas tree farm. And there’s Miles…missing annulment papers and matchmakers conspire a second chance.
Recommend.

Hands down, this is my favorite book by Monique yet!
I love the setting and all of the ideas Emma has for the farm. I love the way Miles loves Emma and how he didn’t want to throw her dad under the bus. The bachelorette auction was so cute, and the kiss before was perfect!
It was such a dreamy story. I can’t wait to read Sophie’s!

I really enjoyed this delightful holiday romance.

Poor Emma and Miles are such tortured souls who desperately need to be together. Ms. Brasher takes her time torturing them in a tug of war with their hearts that's best read with a mug of cocoa and some sinfully delicious treats to match the story. Plus with all of the baking going on in the story, you'll want some yummies on hand to pair with the plot.

A satisfying holiday read.

I looked inside the kindle read on Amazon.

It is a fictional prose about Miles and Emma Watkins .It tells of the love he had for her that propelled him to convince her about their eloping via getting on a bus(be US) to get married and be with each other forever and her father's interuption. The story is thought provoking even as I long to see the entire write up

A sweet Christmas romance. Girl leaves for the big city and breaks up with her high school love. Returns to save the family business only to reconnect with him and realize this is where she's meant to be. Basically every Christmas troupe in existence. It was cheesy and light. Not amazing but a fun read.
