Fiona Blount lives by one Remain anonymous and nothing bad can happen to you. But these days, Fiona can't avoid the spotlight. Because crazy things just happen around her, and suddenly everyone's looking her way—including her London school's resident mean girl and Fiona's supersecret crush. As if growing up isn't already confusing, dealing with the fact that she now has the power of mind control is enough to push any fourteen-year-old girl over the edge! Could this newly discovered talent have anything to do with possibly locating her long-lost father? And will she be able to stop tripping her archenemy with her mind?
Fiona might be a little clueless and a lot confused, but she's totally entertaining and way more than almost fabulous!
ALMOST FABULOUS by Michelle Radford is a cute and fun book about mind powers, long-lost fathers, and growing up.
Fiona Blount makes it a point to stay anonymous at all times to avoid the cruel, popular girls. However, one day Fiona wakes up to find that she has the power to control people's minds, and discovers that she might have inherited this power from her missing father, a successful businessman.
Along with these crazy events, the usually quiet Fiona is becoming more and more popular. Will she win over her secret, amazingly cute crush, Joe? Will she learn how to control her mind powers before she does some serious damage? Will she finally meet her father?
ALMOST FABULOUS is a different type of book that incorporates a lot of British culture (due to the author's British heritage). It's a fun summer read that allows you to wonder, "what if I could control people's minds?" It's witty, charming, and definitely more than almost fabulous.
Fiona Blount is an amazing character. She is witty and smart and has amazing survival skills against bullying from school.
I love how she tries to act inconspicuous and always aiming to get a B in class so she doesn't steal anyone's spotlight.
To some, it might sound stupid or a coward's way out, but somehow, I think in my opinion, some people (including me) do not prefer everyone's attention centered on one self. She's a simple girl who wants to enjoy her life with friends.
I also love Joe, gorgeous and smart Joe. I've always been a sucker for smart guys and this guy can hold a conversation like nobody's business. Their tandem together, conversations and comebacks is entertaining to read.
But the simple life changed when Fiona discovered she has ESP abilities. Now she has to deal with the struggle of finding out her father she has never met and the responsibility of not using her ESP power to have the upper hand with her school archenemy.
Entertaining from beginning to end, I would recommend this to any YA book fans.
I would give it a 3.45 stars. It's like one of those books you have to push through and near the end you realise you love it. It grows on you like a sibling and I recommend this book to anyone interested in crushes, mean girls, super powers and long lost fathers.
I really like this book because the girl is going though problems through her life but she is being positive and she to me is really cool to be able to try and not get anyone to notice her
