Kamari spends three-hundred and sixty-four days a year hiding her true identity from the world. She has many names. The Grim Reaper. The Angel of Darkness. The Dark One. Halloween night is the one opportunity she has to shed her mask and be herself. While mortals dress up, she ventures out in her true form.
Eyden is still reeling from the loss of his mother two years ago, which was made even more difficult because he now spends every day working in the bookstore she held so close to her heart.
When their paths cross one fateful Halloween night, will the connection they form be enough to overcome Kamari’s true identity, or will the truth behind Eyden’s mother’s death be too much for him to bear?
Well… I wanted to like this one but it fell short for me. The idea behind the short story was nice; however, the writing and grammar mistakes made the reading experience sour. I just couldn’t end this short story because of it. It didn’t keep my interest very much either.
Just received this in the mail less than 2 hours ago and I'm already finished reading it. Had no idea how short and easy it was to read but I love that about this book. A story about The Grim Reaper and their perspective? Did not know I needed or wanted it but I'm beyond glade I came across this. The concept is so imaginative that it makes me wish there was a movie because I can visualize how dark, ominous, Gothic yet beautiful it would be. I even had Tim Burton vibes a bit. This is the type of stuff we readers crave. Sure mainstream books and authors are fun and entertaining but there is so much originality and creativity in indie books from indie authors. I'm glad I ordered "Justice in Magic" because Ky knows how to capture the essence of fantasy. If you're looking for stories that are dark, thought provoking, sweet, and beautifully described. Check out "The Reaper's Mask".
Such a great short read… what happens when a reaper is a girl and she’s passed down her father’s curse? What happens when said reaper starts to show feelings for the owner of a book store she frequents? OR what happens when bookstore owner starts to fall for girl and doesn’t realize she was the person who changed his entire world? This book is short and sweet but keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time!
45 pg short story. for being as short as it is i appreciate the detail.
the repetition of the mothers death was a little overboard for me but the author really drove home how earth shattering the loss of a parent can be especially one that you are close to.
