“In my family, when someone is born, another will die.”

A symbiotic curse has plagued the Arrowood and Everhart households for generations. When a new baby is born, a member of the ancient clans die. Only a truce between the warring families can break the deadly hex once and for all.

Upon hearing her cousin is in labour, Maeve Arrowood hurries home to find out which one of them will be next. But the loss of her uncle is the least of her worries when a young man is found dead in the sea under suspicious circumstances. Called in by the police, Maeve has no option but to reprise her role as a scuba diving police consultant to retrieve the body.

Unwittingly drawn into the investigation, Maeve is forced to work with the odiously handsome Ben Everhart. Obliged to put aside their differences, Maeve and Ben soon discover that a far deadlier danger has descended on the island of Dusk.

One that could destroy both families forever.

This book is soooo good!! I could barely tear myself away from my phone as I inhaled it. I love the world-building, want to personally befriend the protagonist, and was absolutely captured by the tale it tells. It has fantasy, mystery, romance, and the consequences of blind loyalty. The fantasy has elements of both high & urban, entwined effortlessly. Very well done, absolutely recommend it to any fan of fantasy!

If I could give this book 6 stars, 7, 8! I would. The enemies-to-lovers premise of this series is intense, the slow burn is as delicious as a rich, fudgy chocolate cake, and the development of the characters made it impossible to put down. Throw in some unknown family background and a sprinkle of murder mystery and everything about this story was a craving-inducing treat. Would I back the Kickstarter for book 2? 100%

A brand new series from Rosie, set in the same world as The Rogue Valkyrie but independent of it.

The enemies to lovers trope is done very well in this and I just very much enjoy Rosie's open and easy to read writing style.

If you liked Bring Me Your Midnight by Rachel Griffin this is in the same vein of great story and magic combination.

As always, I look forward to reading more of her stories!

I loved this book so much! It was the sweetest, most addictive read. The concept was fascinating - a curse that causes someone to die whenever a new member is born into the main character's family. This is definitely the best book I've read by this author so far. It was perfect!

This was a fun, fast paced, whodunit mystery, with well written characters and vivid world. If you enjoy enemy-to-lovers, slow burn, forbidden romance, strong characters and a touch of magic, you’ll enjoy this book.

Even if Maeve is described as being an adult, this book felt most times like a YA book and some times like a teenager one. I would not be surprised if the story was first written as a YA then changed to an adult book to explain why Maeve knew how to recover bodies underwater.

There are 4 storylines in the book :
1. How Maeve found out she is a mermaid, which was obviously not a surprise for us since a mermaid is on the cover of the book
2. How Maeve met and began to fall in love with her love interest. It was obvious from the beginning who it was going to be even if she doesn't know for a good part of the book.
3. The war between the two families. The way it was written, everyone hates the other family so much that their first reflex is to attack them physically or verbally. It just made everyone feel like teenagers because they couldn't think before acting.
4. The investigation of the murder. The police was just completely incompetent in this one.

I had problems with all of the story lines. I could have put aside one of two and continue reading the series without problem. Adding how the book felt (teenager/YA), I don't think I can continue reading this series.

One part, two feuding families because of a curse. One part whodunit in a small community. Both wrapped in an enemies to lovers story with a little open door spice. Finished with something that makes me excited for the next books in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book so much that I was finished within a day. I really appreciate the opportunity to be able to read this one before the official release!

I enjoyed this first book in a new series featuring mermaids. However, I thought the main character, Maeve, missed quite a few obvious clues as to the identity of her secret date, as well as the culprit in Tyler’s death. Most of Maeve’s family were buffoons, too. I hope the next installment simmers down on the unnecessary tension.

A great read that pulls you in! Not too out of the ordinary but intriguing enough to keep reading 🤩

Can't wait to see Maeve and Ben get together and find an end to the crazy curse! Def one of the worst curses I've read about in a novel 😶

Also loved how she found out that she's a mermaid! I mean it's not really a spoiler from the cover but still 🤭

4 stars 💕

One is born, one will die

On the island of Dusk two families of witches had a long history of hatred for each other the Arrowoods and the Everharts. A hatred so malevolent that one member of each family would commit murder, one using the Tree of Life and the other a dryad as an instrument of death. Now generations later these two families still pay the price for their ancestors’ act of vengeance. A curse that brings death. Each time a new child is born or adopted into the families of the Arrowoods or Everharts a member of their family dies.

Maeve Arrowood had been driven away from Dusk after high school. Growing up with the threats of death, in the middle of the deadly feud with the animosity between the families, she’d only wanted some peace. Her affinity for water made her the ideal person to work with Nexus, a department of law enforcement in London retrieving bodies from watery graves. Now she was home again because a child was soon to be born. If it was her time to die, she wanted to be on the island. If it was her father’s, she wanted to spend what little time was left together. Both survived this birth, but her uncle didn’t. News spread quickly in Dusk. Maeve ran into two Everhart sons, Ben and Adrian, on the street shortly after. Adrian immediately started taunting her and cheering over the death. This is why she had stayed away for so long.

Her uncle wasn’t the only death on Dusk it seemed. A body had been found on the rocks within the boundaries of the merfolk. Since there had been problems with tourists the merfolk had closed their waters to all. As a former employee of Nexus, the police chief in Dusk asked for Maeve’s assistance to bring the body to land. In the past Maeve had been friends with the merfolk. So, requesting permission to retrieve the body from their waters was left up to her. Told by Janeria, the queen of the merfolk, that some had seen Tyler, the young man, pushed off the cliff onto the rocks. However, since the distance had been too far to see the murderer Janeria wanted her people left out of this situation. For this reason, Maeve couldn’t tell the Chief, what had been seen, Tyler’s death was ruled and accident. Maeve couldn’t let it go; Tyler had been a friend from school. Unfortunately, he had been an even closer friend to Ben Everhart, who was now out for blood, refusing to believe it an accident.

Ben Everhart would reluctantly team up with Maeve to find the murderer and the reasons behind Tyler’s death. If either of their families saw them together there would be the devil to pay. If this had been their only contact with each other, they might have gotten away with it. Until they both ended up at a dating agency whose unique introductions used magical masks that hid their identities for the first three dates. It seemed that Ben Everhart and Maeve Arrowood were an almost perfect match. Let the adventures begin.

The unique story plot had me swimming in very deep waters watching for something to come up and pull me down. Maeve’s closest friends are a delight, one a fairy, the other a dryad, while sharing their unsolicited advice and help. The families on both sides come off as strongly opinionated, at times unreasonable, unwilling to even consider a means of ending the curse but also had strong loving ties. Both families live as many families did eons ago, supporting each other living in one huge dwelling. Adrain’s anger is right up there like a volcano ready to explode and not easily controlled.

The animosity is palpable and at times felt like an extra character that walked beside them. But the pull between Ben and Maeve during their time together on their dates before they realized who they were was equally strong. There is the mystery of Tyler’s murder but by the end of the tale I was rooting for Ben and Maeve to find a solution to end the curse or at least break away from their family’s cruel disregard for their growing feelings. Shades of Romeo and Juliet that lead us into the next part of this trilogy. If I had any discord, it would be that at times by their dialogue and actions, Maeve and Ben seemed to me more older teens than young twenty somethings. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the stories and I can recommend this title. I believe some older teens would enjoy it as well but there is encounter between Ben and Maeve that becomes heated.

Welcome to the beautiful island of Dusk. Situated “somewhere” in the UK, it’s a place where the magical is commonplace. Mermaid covens patrol the waters, dryads protect nature, witches produce potions, and faeries live in magical trees. Then there’s the Arrowwoods and the Everharts. The two families have been at each others’ throats for generations! Their feud is so deep-rooted in their genes that for one to trust the other isn’t just unlikely, it’s impossible! With each family member, everything is on-sight as much as the Hatfields and McCoys of American mountaineer legend.

The families share more than just a mutual hatred for one-another. They share a curse. Due to the nature of the event that kicked off the curse in the first place, all those hundreds of years ago, when a child is born into the family, one of the other members of the family dies. There’s no getting around it, there’s no way to fool it, a new life equals a new death.

Maeve Atwood has been living in London for the past few years working with a scuba diving agency that helps police recover dead bodies from in and around waterways. She left Dusk to get away from the feud. She never wanted it to define her the way it does all of her relatives. However, her cousin is now expecting a child, and Maeve knows what that means. After quitting her job, she heads back to Dusk to help take care of the family as they brace for another death.

When a young man dies mysteriously, his body found in the waters around the island, Maeve and her father are called in to help the police retrieve the body. The young man seems to have fallen during his nightly run, and the autopsy report isn’t telling anybody anything. But the young man’s best friend, Ben Everhart knows there’s been foul play. Suddenly, Maeve has been swept up in an investigation of a murder with black market dangers.

What would you do, though, if your generational sworn enemy needs your help to uncover a murder most foul? Maeve’s in the drink up to her ears with this one!

“Midnight Waters” is the first book in Rosie Wylor-Owen’s new Moonlight Mermaid trilogy and it’s an absolute thrill ride! Within the first chapters, the reader is drawn in with the action, well-developed characters, unique settings, and original take on the classic lore. The book is spicy, in all the right ways, with a kickass female protagonist who’s tougher than she looks and has secrets she needs kept! I genuinely enjoyed reading this book from start to finish and highly recommend it to anyone who’s a fan of urban fantasy, enemies-to-lovers themes, and/or a spicy murder mystery. Enjoy! Personally, I’m really looking forward to the next book!

This book is brilliant! Loved it so much! There is a strong plot that only a master weaver could have produced, flawless in every way, a treasure to hold in one's hand. This treasure has quite a bit going on, in the most engaging way, you'll want to, you'll need to know what is next.

Maeve, a witch ,comes back home to Dusk, an island where supernaturals reside, not willingly at all, but a new member of their family was about to be born. Lovely right? Well nooooo. There's a curse on her family, for every one born, one will die and she has no idea if that someone will be her. There's this feud between the Arrowwoods and Everharts, they have been at each other's throats since.... no one knows exactly but the loathing and fighting is ongoing. Heck she escaped to London to try put it all behind her. Always drawn to the water, Maeve works as a diver retrieving objects from the sea. And then there's a death in Dusk, which is incredibly rare and Maeve is asked to assist in retrieving the body. And here the twists and turns begin... turns out it's murder. Turns out it's one of the Everhart's friends. Turns out there's a witness but one who won't get involved. So what's a girl supposed to do? Find the killer is what, although that means joining forces with her arch enemy, Ben Everhart. These scenes were both very entertaining, amusing as well as intense, I mean, who doesn't love a murder mystery?

Maeve's two best friends, Kira and Allison are simply delightful! Such fun. They persuade her to go to a dating agency which finds your comparable other. Not by screening you, they use a drop of blood to find your match. Welllll, Maeve and her date have almost a 100% compatibility, unheard of. All of this is anonymous, thanks to a magic mask. Only after date 3 can their identities be revealed.I loved the reaction of both characters during their encounter, made me laugh a few times too. So not only is Maeve trying to solve a murder, she's trying to solve these strange reactions to "William" her date. But hang on, it's about to get even more interesting.... between anonymous dates, murder, strife, there's also strange feelings, a huge revelation that was dinkum OMG, potions and poisons and even merfolk!

The author took me on the most wonderful journey, one where I was jumping with joy by the ending, got every fibre in me completely vested in the characters, well especially Ben and Maeve....the comic relief from Kira and Allison has me snorting out loud, just loved them. The plot, the pacing, this fab world, the twists, the banter, the romance, all of it, made the most charming and enchanting read. Very highly recommended!

Have you ever wondered what Romeo and Juliet's story might have looked like, if it were set in a world where fantasy creatures exist? This book explores exactly that. While the story takes place in our modern world, magical creatures such as dryads, witches, fae and mermaids do exist.

On a small island called "Dusk" resides a large community of such creatures. Among those are two warring families - the Arrowoods and Everharts. Upon both families lies a curse that a family member will die, when a new one is born. Cause for this curse was the murders within each family by the other family's hand many generations ago.
Our protagonist Maeve returns to Dusk for the birth of her cousin, after having lived in New York for four years. There she worked with law enforcement to safely recover bodies from under water. Her skillset is required shortly after returning when the body of a young men is found at the bottom of a cliff. Turns out, it is the best friend of one of the younger Everharts. Maeve and Ben must work together to uncover who is behind this incident - both of them certain it was a murder instead of an accident.

Due to the cover and the title / series' name, I assumed the topic of mermaids would be in forefront right from the start of the story. That was surprisingly not the case, however I do not particularly mind in this instance, as it is incorporated quite nicely a bit later on in the book.
The conflict between the Arrowoods and Everharts is discussed right from the start, which I appreciate. No guesswork what is going on on the reader's part necessary. Moreover, the specifics or lack of loopholes in the curses is also brought up quite early on. Actually shortly after I asked myself why the families didn't go for adoption instead of natural births to get around the curse.

Maeve is a very likeable main character. It is very understandable, why she tried to get away from Dusk and the curse for a few years. At least in my eyes. The fact that she has a tarantula named Flora was quite the surprise. An unusual but cool pet. In general she is a rather level-headed person. Her relationship with her two best friends, Kira and Allison, is so precious and relatable.

I'm not quite sure whether I really like the whole dating agency aspect of the story, but I also wouldn't consider it a flaw or con in the overall consideration of the story.

This is a must-read book!

This is the first book in the series The Moonlight Mermaid, and Rosie is a new author to me. Urban fantasy with a splash of romance & mystery is my ideal read so I jumped at the chance to ARC review this book. This is my honest opinion.

The story starts with a homecoming for Maeve, who’s been living and working as a police diver in London. We’re introduced to the world of Dusk, Maeve’s island home off the coast of Britain. But it’s not a happy time…

The island is home to the Arrowoods and Everharts - two witch families afflicted with a deadly curse carried down through the generations: when a baby is born another member of their family dies. This has left an inevitable mark on both families, and the enmity between them always bubbles just beneath the surface.

As Maeve has returned to run the family’s diving business she also ends up having to recover the body of a local boy who fell from the cliffs into the waters designated as private by the local merfolk. It becomes more complicated as her merfolk friend tells her that the boy was pushed…leading to Maeve having to join forces with one of the hated Everharts as they’re the only ones who’ve realised his death wasn’t an accident.

Maeve’s return, the girls’ shenanigans, and the murder investigation gets right into the heart of this simmering pot of animosity with explosive results.

I love the characters and the different types of magical people in this world. The author has taken great care with her story and her love for the them shines through.

Maeve is a great FMC and I love her growth as the story unfolds. There are some great girlie moments between Maeve and her two best friends, Kira (a fairy) and Allison (a dryad), which offsets the darker parts of the story nicely.

The storytelling is a pleasure which devours hours - don’t expect to take your time reading this book…I finished it with only a (very late) night’s sleep to interrupt me!.

The Arrowood and Everhart families have been feuding for as long as anyone on Dusk can remember. The sacred items gifted to the witch families were used in malice to harm each other and in turn caused a curse. Every time a new family member is born to a family, one must die. The cause of the feud that brought the bloodshed has been lost over time and no one knows how to break the curse.

Maeve is returning to Dusk after leaving the all consuming bitterness of the family. Her cousin is about to give birth which means someone is about to die, including herself. When her uncle succumbs to the curse, rivalries between the families flare again but Maeve just wants to move past it. While trying to settle into her father’s diving business she is tasked with helping to retrieve a dead body out of the water. However, this is not as straightforward a job as it seems. Permission is needed to reach the body, information about the incident is closely guarded, and only one person seems to understand the gravity of the situation, an Everhart. Maeve is forced to collaborate with her family’s enemy to solve what is going on on the island of Dusk. And if this isn’t stressful enough, her best friends rope her into joining a magically anonymous blind dating agency with them. How could any of this go wrong?

I have adored Rosie's writing. Her main characters are strong, smartly written people who I can connect with and have depth. That being said, her chaos inducing best friends absolutely steal whatever scenes they are in and are my absolute favorites. I enjoyed the blending of magics and species and seeing how it could work as an integrated world.

The book was interesting. I enjoyed it. But it wasn't as deep or intriguing as I would've liked.

The premise was unique. A family member dies as one is born, and the book starts when a new life is just about to enter. Who will die this time?

The romance was fun, but seemed more like two 20-year olds than two almost 30-year olds. And the "mystery" wasn't a mystery at all. It was quite obvious and a mystery how it was a mystery to her! ;-)

The actual mystery of the villain was good, but also quite obvious from the start. The supporting characters were all interesting. I liked the police chief! And the one friend, but really disliked the other that was always demeaning and crass.

The main character lived with her dad and even worse, her whole extended family, for no good reason really. At almost 30. That just sounded really weird. And her dad treated her like a 16-year old. She made excuses for him about it that just didn't make sense. Sorry no. There's no reason to be stuck 10 years in the past because you love her.

The male lead also lived with his family in a similarly strange setup. With a controlling mother that he can barely stand up to, even though he's almost 30. He allowed others to treat her horribly, even violently, a few times before realising it's not okay.

It was also obvious what she was, and it's strange why it took her almost 30 years to realise it? That was a bit weird. The whole book would've made more sense if the lead were about 18 years old.

I'm halfway through the 2nd book and will probably finish it. But it's a bit boring at this stage and I'm not sure if I'll complete the series.

Very pleasantly surprised.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

I came into this book without knowing anything, so I didn't know what to expect. I haven't read books with mermaids in them, except maybe as side characters before, and I hadn't read any book by this author either.

At first I was a bit doubtful. It seemed a murder mystery with a predictable guilty party, however this part is only a small portion of the story, there's a bigger mystery at hand, which is slowly weaved into the story. Meave comes from Dusk, a small town in supernatural island, or rather, an island inhabited by supernaturals. Her family, the Arrowoods , are in a long standing feud with another family with long roots in the island, the Everharts. Their hatred for each other runs deep, because once upon a time, an Arrowood murdered an Everhart, and in retaliation, one of their own is murdered in turn.
The result is a curse that affects both families: whenever a new member of the family is born (or added), another one dies.

To solve a murder, Meave must learn to cooperate with one of her sworn enemies, before another tragedy strikes. Will she be able to work get past the hatred and fear of an Everhart?

I definitely recommend you pick a copy of this book and find out!

Another brilliant start to a new series by Rosie! Maeve, a witch, comes back to her childhood home when her cousin is ready to give birth. Due to a curse, when a new member of the family is born, another must die. This is the way it’s been between Maeve Arrowood’d family and the Everharts for as long as anyone can remember. Not knowing if it will be herself, she has reluctantly come back to the island.
But when she returns, an old friend from high school is murdered and only Maeve knows someone witnessed it. And of course, an Everhart would want to investigate as well. Can they work together to solve this case or will their families murder each other before they can figure out who did it?
I love all the characters! Maeve is a strong willed, smart young woman who left because she was tired of the feud. Her best friends Kira and Allison are everything best friends should be! Including getting her into new and uncomfortable dating situations! The tension between Maeve and Ben while they investigate… wonderful! And while the families are thick headed and unable to change their views, the fact that magic is out in the open makes for some pretty interesting and intense arguments!
I have quickly come to love Rosie’s writing style and can’t wait to read more in this series!!

A new to me author and the first of a new series, which definitely did not disappoint.

Maeve Arrowood returns home after years away, due to the curse on her family. A strong female lead, with a natural affinity with water, whose work as a scuba diver leads her to be involved in investigating a suspicious death. She has to work alongside a member of the family who are also part of the curse, which isn’t easy when the families have hated each other for generations and trust doesn’t come easy!

Maeve’s friendship with Kira and Allison is an important part of the story, and provides lots of fun moments, as well as encouraging Maeve to look for romance, at the same time as investigating the death and trying to get her family to think about how the curse might be dealt with differently.

The various strands of the story weave together well and set the series off on good foundations. Maeve has various different challenges, which she will carry forward. I look forward to finding out in time, how each of them will be resolved.

It took me a bit to get into this. Once in? I really enjoyed most of it. The interaction between the heroine and hero had a very Romeo and Juliet feeling sans the tragic, useless deaths.

Maeve really interested me. I don't feel like she made any unexamined moves--including leaping off cliffs. I prefer a smart heroine and she was one. She is a member of the Arrowwood clan.

Ben, the Romeo, comes from the Everhart family. He's a piece of work. But it's kinda evident that he's the romantic interest.

Just about everybody here is magical or has magic. There is a terrific backstory that is...a semi-dump of information. It's part of what held me out of the story.

The worldbuilding is slow but I think that's a good thing.

I can't say much more without giving away a huge amount.

Maeve and Ben have to team up to solve a murder. Maeve has two friends. I'll let you meet them. They are quite entertaining.

Bottom line? I will be looking for book 2.

This is book one of this series, told in first person POV by the main female character, Maeve. This does leave you on a bit of a cliffhanger, so this is a good series to binge.

The forbidden romance and mystery surrounding a murder and the mystery of what paranormal species her mother is. The feud between two families gives off a magical Hatfield’s and McCoy’s vibe that spans over several years.

The tension between the families, the banter and support between Maeve and her two best friends, the chemistry between her and Ben and the details of everything was great and held my interest.

I gave my rating because I would have loved to have Ben’s POV throughout the book to get his thoughts and feelings on certain events.

Regardless of that, I enjoyed this book and am excited to see what the next adventure is and how Ben and Maeve work together to solve the curse on their families and get their HEA. I received an advanced readers copy via Booksprout. These thoughts and opinions are my own.

Midnight waters.

ARC reading. Maeve, who is so tired of the feud between the Arrowood and the Everhart families, escapes the island of Dusk only to return when someone has to die. She dives headfirst into danger by helping the police recover a body and investigating the circumstances of the dead friend of Ben.Being one of the other family, he is certainly not someone to think about romantically. But the heart goes where it wants to go. And the magic won't wait any longer revealing itself to her either. In this mess Maeve finds herself  fighting for freedom of the curse.
This story is told in a fast, sometimes funny way.
The main characters are not that old and with the banter between the girlfriends it feels a bit YA written.
The focus is not with the worldbuilding, it is with the development of friendship between the main characters and the curse that destroys lots of lives.
Fun read that leaves some questions open to entice you for book 2.

A Never-ending Curse ? . . .

A curse had been placed on two feuding families, the Arrowoods and the Everharts. Hundreds of years before, as a child is born, a member of the family dies. Maeve Arrowood had left the island of Dusk and took a job in London with a scuba diving group to recover dead bodies as part of a police effort. But when she learns a family member is pregnant, it is only a matter of time until someone else in her family will die. So Maeve goes back home to the island to help out however she can.

But Maeve is called on when Tyler’s body is found and needs to be retrieved from the water. The victim’s best friend, Ben Everhart, is certain this is murder. Will Maeve be pulled into the investigation and find herself working side-by-side with her enemy… Ben Everhart? Maeve's two best friends, Kira and Allison, will also have a role in the story line. And will any of this mingling have negative repercussions on their families?

Warning! Do not start this book when you are supposed to be doing something else - like working, taxes, or sleeping. I started this book and finished the book while avoiding some or all of those things. It was wonderful.

I found the cover very attractive and the chapters start with a stylized line drawing that is really attractive. From the opening chapter, I was hooked. Later in the book there were some tense scenes and I was interrupted by my life - excuse me - I am BUSY.

Some of the direction of the book is obvious but still an enjoyable journey to the reveals. The characters are interesting and I love the bestie friendship. This is a world with known magic. There are peaks to things that I would love to explore more.

Overall, thrilled to read this book. Just want to know WHEN can I read the NEXT BOOK?!

I loved this book so much that I read it all in one sitting. There's magic, mythical creatures, forbidden romance, and a crime or two to solve along the way. I was really invested in the story itself, not just the romance aspect. My attention was harnessed immediately upon reading the first line: "When someone is born in my family, another will die." That's an incredible hook and the story did not disappoint. This was easily a 5 star read for me. It's low on spice, but there were enough other things going on that it wasn't really needed. A few of the side characters, Kira and Allison, are so fun and loyal, and I'd love to see more of them in the next one! The end of the book had me craving more, and I can't wait for the sequel.

*I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

The Hatfield's and McCoy's turn into Romeo and Juliet, with magic, but will it end the same? That's the question.

The story grabs your attention from the start. Learning about a curse that's been plaguing two fueding families for many generations. Throw in a mind boggling murder mystery that throws a member of each family together to try to solve and it makes for a fascinating, page turning read.

It has drama, mystery, and spice. All in the right places.

It has many moving parts that Rosie fits together perfectly for a plot that flows well. The characters are well developed and the world she created is divine.

I definitely look forward to book 2 in the series and wait with bated breath.

I was skeptical about this book at first, but since I was encouraged to read and review it by my favorite author, I thought, "ok , why not? I'll give it a shot. If Heather likes it, then I'm sure I will. " I mean, I've never read anything about mermaids before, but it'll be interesting.
Well, Dang it! I didn't just like it, I LOVED IT!
I mean.... what's NOT to love?
This good read that has:

-A Hatfield/McCoys type of situation (Yes... I grabbed this from another reviewer because I loved the analogy)

- Enemies to lovers

-A little Spice

-Die hard friends

-Mystery

-Intrigue

-Murder

Grab this book today! I sure am glad I did. This was a FANTASTIC read, and I can't wait for round 2!

This book exceeded my expectations! The world-building and character development are exceptionally well-crafted, drawing readers into a vividly imagined universe brimming with action and intrigue. The central feud that drives the plot is deeply poignant, leaving me eagerly anticipating how the author will further explore it in the next installment.

While the romance aspect may have been a slow burn in terms of spiciness, the richness of the story more than compensated for it, making every page a delight to read. Overall, this was an immensely satisfying and engrossing read, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the story.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Can the curse be broken?

If one lives, another must die. The curse on the Arrowood and Everhart households has lasted for generations. Maeve Arrowood left the island because of it and is returning for the same reason. Who will be the one to die?

When a young man unrelated to either family dies, Maeve has reason to believe it is murder and sets out to investigate the case. The deceased is the best friend of her enemy, Ben Everhart so she is soon working alongside him to uncover the truth.

This is a good paranormal mystery with magic, intrigue, and romance. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.
