When Jack and Nicola moved house, they forgot to take Little Teddy. The cleaner's dog carries him off into the wood, and he becomes even more frightened. At last Little Teddy lands in a garden treehouse and there he finds Jack and Nicola again.
Little Teddy Left Behind is a lovely story about a family moving house and the teddy that gets left behind. The book tells Little Teddy's story about when he gets left behind during a house move, and his adventures that eventually lead to him finding the new home and living happily ever after.
This is a great book, with lovely illustrations by Joanne Moss. It would be suitable for children up to the age of around 7, either as a free reading book or as a story for the whole class. I personally used this story in a Year 2 class when introducing a teddy for a shy child to speak to in circle time. By introducing the class to a teddy which had thoughts and feelings they were more receptive to a teddy coming into class to listen to their peer's thoughts and feelings in circle time. This book could also be given to a child who is moving house to encourage them to discuss their own experiences.
This is an all round good book, I would recommend buying it for a KS1 classroom.
Despite a happy ending, I found this one to be sad. Poor Teddy, each time I turned the page; his life went from bad to worse. If I am looking for a sad picture book with a similar theme of being unwanted, I will read Chris Van Allsburg's The Misadventures of Sweetie Pie.
This book has gorgeous illustrations, it's written form a Teddy bear's POV, which is quite interesting.
SO, a teddy gets left behind while moving, a house keeper finds him and puts him through a washer, that the Teddy finds is horrific. Then he gets chewed by a dog, actually two dogs, and then he is thrown and kicked around by a bunch of little brats, finally he lands in a tree house which apparently belongs to his actual little owners.
Teddy had always got his bright red coat on which is so soft to touch. Teddy’s adventure of being left behind by Nicola and Jack, but after being tossed and washed he finds his way back to their back garden. Teddy meets loads of friends on the way.
This story had a wonderful pattern to it. It kept me guessing for a little, but it all ends happy. The eye-catching illustrations were full of details from the text.
Little Teddy gets left behind after his owners move out of the house he lived in. After getting taken by a dog, thrown in a washing machine, dragged through the woods, pushed out of a tree, etc. he ends up outside the treehouse of his owner's new house. They name the treehouse after him and they have a tea party at the end with other friends for Little Teddy. I thought this book was really cute. I've always loved teddy bears, so this was fun to read. Also, I liked that you could actually feel his sweater in the book. This would be a cute book just to have kids read because they love teddy bears. Also, as kids, they pretend that their animals are real, and this book is from the perspective of Little Teddy as an animate object. It would be relatable for kids to read.
This was a lovely little book. The teddy bear really does get left behind & goes on an adventure looking for his family. He goes through some bad experiences but, as with all children's books, he finds a happy ending.
Moving day is hard on all family members -- particularly toys that are left behind. How will Teddy find his way back to his family? Love the red-flocked illustrations. Fuzzy it Wuzzy!
