Overall, the collection was quite moving. Each story offered a glimpse into the struggle and strength it takes to come out of the storm. Both story truly broke my heart a bit, but they also left me feeling hopeful. I have so much admiration for the women who find the courage to walk away from harmful situations. ππͺ
This book brought back so many emotions for me when I read it. It was like stepping back into a time of horror of absolute chaos and despair and abuse. When I read this book it was true reality for me and I hope anyone reading this storyline and living in an environment of constant abuse please get out. There will always be lies that it want happen again or Ian sorry but you made me do it. You will get gifts along with every beating and verbal abuse. Each abusive behavior only gets worse. But God saved me and my child because she threw herself in front of me to keep me from getting shot. The gun jammed and didnβt go off. I had already called the police before I went home because he was acting erratic and he was arrested and I filed a restraining order of protection and I also filed for a divorce while he was in jail. If anyone is reading this and is in an abusive relationship please get out. Help is available National Domestic Violence Hotline (800) 799-7233.
These were two good stories about the horrors of domestic abuse. I nearly returned the book after starting the first story. It focused on parental abuse and to think that any mother would speak to her child in such a demeaning way was hard to fathom. It was a sad story with an encouraging ending after so much torture for those involved. The second story focused on partner abuse. A lot of red flags were ignored until it was too late. Fortunately, the women in these two stories became survivors. And I was glad that there were no knights in shining armor who came to rescue them. They knew to focus on themselves for healing and growth first.
Domestic violence and abuse is very serious. Rien went through so much abuse at the hands of her mother. Had she been properly treated when Anne tried getting her therapy, her adult life would have been much better. Her marriage to Semaj would have been fine. She needed help with her past demons first. Harmony should have left Clay when he first suggested she send their son away. She should have never stayed around to endure the abuse. Things definitely got out of hand. Luckily, she survived. This was a good read.
Both of these stories will make the strongest of ppl shed a tear because this is reality for many men and women!!!...I was soooo excited to read these stories, but I was not ready for the emotions that came with it!!!...Stories of how verbal, mental and physical abuse effects ppl from the ppl that claim to love you!!!...
I once was a victim of domestic violence for 12 yrs and let me tell you. So many times I wanted to give up but all I thought about was who was gonna take care of my kids? Manipulation and a narcissistic a**hole is hard to get away from. Thank you ladies for writing this. Maybe it help someone. Thank you!!
So from the beginning you have no idea that your not just reading one story, this seems to be a collective of domestic abuse tales although the 2 Iβve read so far were hella heavy but ended with closure it would have been nice to know each book itβs only a few chapters. Happy reading
