Interesting idea but not exacuted well, this was chaotic and confusing to say the least and I felt no connection to any of the characters either. The writing was all over the place and the majority of the time I had no idea what was going on. Also the FMC Rhode seemed far to blase about being transported to a hidden realm and she accepted the fact she was now queen very easily, no disbelief and she was also extremely irritating. The world building here felt like an information dump at the detriment of the story and this wasn't working for me in any way. It's a shame because this did sound intriguing. I won't be continuing on with this series despite it being by various authors and this was unfortunately a DNF for me, I also read fairly far so I did give it a fair chance to improve.

Not my particular cup of tea. I appreciated the world building and plot, but I found the romance very lacking. The almost Insta love really bothered me. I also found the main character unrelatable. If I were transported to a different universe and told that I was the queen of this land, and I had no memories of my past life, I would deny it, and I hate my kidnappers. Instead, the main character makes friends and embraces this new life.

Reborn Queen Vampire
Rhodelia was a nurse who worked hard and had a difficult time leaving her job at the office to have a weekend of fun, but her adopted sisters and she were hitting Vegas for Halloween. While clubbing something crazy happened and a man she had been seeing in her dreams walked up and asked her to dance and then kidnapped her. The gorgeous man from Rhodes dreams took her to a place called Terrea that was on Earth, but through a portal that wouldn’t open for another fifty years. Oh, and the guy was a prince and he hates Rhodelia and by the was she is a reborn queen. Well, that was a shell shock, wasn’t it?
Some of the people were very lovely to Rhode and actually treat her like a queen even if Prince Varan acts like he would rather have her dead. Apparently she was a very beloved queen in her previous life, who fought with her people against her own husband who was an evil king and also Varan’s father.
There is great suffering among the people of Terrea and as Queen, Rhodelia wants to be involved in helping her people, but the new King Varan doesn’t seem to want to cooperate on projects even though they seem to have a magnetic draw to each other.
This was a beautifully built world and the bad guy is in the past mostly, but he was so bad! There is still evil afoot and Rhode and Varan will need to put their problems aside to solve the problems that have been hanging over the kingdom for fifty years.
This was a great story that I very much enjoyed and I give it an enthusiastic five stars.

2.25 ⭐️
This had so much potential. So much, but it just didn’t deliver. There was a point where it was riding 3.5 star territory but then that ending. Oh the ending was painful.
Backing up, this is the start of a series of interconnected standalones by several different authors. The series says that these can be read in any order but after reading this one first, I have my doubts. This book needed to be a lot stronger in both world building and world history to set the stage for the entire series and I feel like those details were skimmed at best. I found myself quite confused about what went down previously to bring us to the point where this book starts. Maybe other books in the series will explain that more?
What really dropped this below 3 stars for me was the ending. There was a conflict and villain that the MCs had to overcome, but at the end we don’t really find out who the villain is! Like was he person B or was he really person A glamouring (Vampires have glamour in this world) himself to be person B, OR was person A and person B actually the same the whole time?! I don’t know! And on top of that, whoever the villain is we get literally zero motive for WHY he was the villain and did the things he did. There was no backstory, no grandstanding, villainous explanation, nothing! I’m baffled and unbelievably frustrated. The book just ends.
Positives of this book were the characters. I liked the FMC and a little of the MMC. They are the reason for additional .25 stars, otherwise this is a solid 2.

I don't like rating books I have read so little of. I couldn't stand the narrative voice and the writing style, and as it annoyed me from the start, I couldn't be bothered to battle through it. It could well be a decent book, but I could tell that the way it's written would just grate on me if I continued.

So Disappointed
I heard LJ Andrews was participating as one of the authors in this ‘shared world’ with other authors called The Forgotten Kingdoms series. I knew LJ’s story wasn’t until book 3 or 4, but I was excited to start this as she’s my favorite author and I expected this series with other authors to be amazing.
The short prequel was a mess and this was no different. I’m so disappointed. I couldn’t read it fast enough to just get it done.
Everything was scattered. The characters and world were not developed well at all. The MFC was annoying and spoke poorly. This mixing of earth manners with this new realm was ridiculous. The references to movies was not witty or funny and just had me rolling my eyes.
The MMC was the best, but there was no development in anything. The whole story happened in like 3 days. And it jumped around so badly, I was left hanging.
And soooo much was repeated over and over again! I’m so frustrated. I’m unsure if I’ll give book 2 a chance.
It rec’d 2 stars instead of 1, bc the potential was there, so there! But it fell flat. I pray the next books are better.

While parts of our favorite fangirl shine through, OB&N differs entirely from The Coven. Rhodelia’s story is a true testament to Chandelle’s talent, and I was hooked from the first chapter!
The plot, characters, setting, and pacing were elevated, enjoyable, and natural. Love at first read is real, and hard not to happen with relateable, humourous, and strong characters! Grasping and feeling emotion throughout the book was effortless and much appreciated! The artwork was stunning and truly aided in understanding Chandelle’s vision!
As readers, I believe we have been set up for an extraordinary journey. I hope you love Isramaya as much as I do! ✨

This is the first book I’ve read out of the Forgotten Kingdom series and let me say I LOVED IT. I’m definitely going to finish this series. It was fast paced, great spice, and I really enjoyed the plot. The ending was a twist I didn’t see coming for sure but overall a great read!

2.5 STARS:
So... I don't actually know what to say about this one? Like, I enjoyed parts of it, and I even had some fun. But this was just messy??
For one thing, the romance was barely there. It was undoubtedly the best part of the book and it just fell a little flat. Not instalove, but too much flipping back and forth behavior.
The plot was extremely all over the place. One minute, it's one plotline; the next, it's another. And that ending?? What kinda of ending was that??? It was just so out of nowhere. It seemed like the plot twist was there to make us all go "GASP!" without having actually set it up. When it happened, it just made no sense at all.
My favorite part was definitely the world and the lore. I thought that was interesting at least.
The characters... I am conflicted about (like with the rest of this book). I kinda went back and forth between liking and disliking the main character. I wish she got to show more intelligence and her training, but instead, she is dragged from one plot point to another with hardly any initiative. Still, sometimes, she was pretty funny.
Also, can I just say that the writing style was confusing? The way it did descriptions, I could never understand how the scene actually looked.
Will I continue this series? Normally, I would say no, but this is the only book in this series written by this author, so I am hoping beyond hope that the others are better. The higher rating than 1 star is because, despite this book's (many) flaws, I did have some fun. I just had to turn my brain way off to enjoy it after a while.

Supernatural, world-building, lost then found love, and spice!
This book is great with the world-building. In a lot of books, it gets confusing because all the names are so weird and can get messed up. And the rules of the supernaturals can get confusing. But this book did a wonderful job at introducing things slowly so you don't feel overwhelmed.
This book is a complete stand-alone and can be read without having to have read any of this authors other books. It is the start of a series, but features its own couple and has a HEA. We do see a few characters briefly that will be in some of the next books.

Stunning start to a new series, I loved this so much. This book is set in a whole new world where 50 years ago 8 women sacrificed their lives to rid the lands of an evil king. Prophesy stated that these women would return after the 50 years so they might reclaim their lost loves.
Rhodelia is the first of those women, she is abducted to Isramaya with no memory of her previous life or the people that live there. There are instant sparks with Prince Varan but he appears to hate her for some reason, when they are named as King and Queen of the land neither want the job. In order to be relived of their duty they are charged with discovering what is killing the vampires of Isramaya and how to help them.
Along the way memories start to return to Rhodelia but will she remember everything before it's too late?

Chandelle is incredible. I love her writing style. This book is interesting from the start- the lore immediate resonates. I love the concept they’ve come up with, where different authors will write about different women who are all connected from the start. The overarching story line is capturing. This first book is about vampires and sets the stage for the books to come, which will feature strong women of (or somehow related to) different “species”. The main character Rhode is relatable, confident, and the love story is HOT. I honestly wish it didn’t have to end. I can’t wait to ready book #2 and I’ve already pre-ordered books 2-8!!

This collection of book is such an amazing idea. All the authors are incredible and I cannot wait to read them all. To start off with Of Blood and Nightmares from Chandelle was just the best thing that could have happened. This story is incredible and you can see the future books tie in and that’s just so cool ! Ro and her king are great characters and their storyline is so powerful. The way the vampires are depicted is enthralling and so original. I do suggest reading the prequel story to help you with the background. 10/10 loved it !

Great start to a new series! The author brings strong characters and weaves an intriguing story filled with mystery and secrets and had me glued to the pages with all the twists and turns. I loved the characters and their banter and reading their story. I'm looking forward to the next book.

The beginning was really really good like out of this world good but then as the story continues it just deteriorates.
Everything became rush, the romance, the plot, the characters. The characters became corny and stiff.
So over all I did like it at first, it had such amazing potential to be something ridiculously good but fell flat for me in the end.

Out of all the forgotten kingdom books, this one was my least favorite. I liked the different vampire lore and world building, but the plot and Character development were very subpar. Still going to finish the series though. I think the concept is brilliant to bring all these different stand alone books together by connecting all the main characters.

New World, Same Chandelle Brilliance!
Another amazing book by Chandelle. Great world building, lots of unexpected twists and turns. This is a great book to set the tone for a new series. This book is not just another typical vampire book with only slight variations like we’ve seen done so many other times. It’s a completely new take and I’m excited to see where the rest of the books go.

I didn’t really like this too much unfortunately. I still have hope for the other books in the series as they are all written by different authors, but this one wasn’t for me. I didn’t love the writing, thought the plot was quite messy and confusing and didn’t feel the MCs connection at all. It was still somehow entertaining but definitely not great.

Se fossero ricordi di una vita passata?
Ricordi di un tempo perduto che cercano di tornare in modo prepotente nella vita attuale?
E’ questo che una parte remota di Rhode inizierà a domandarsi.
Dopo un’infanzia da una parte felice con i suoi amati genitori e sorella, e dall’altra dilaniata dal dolore dalla perdita dei genitori.
Rhode, Mo e Saphira la loro sorella adottiva, conducono una vita normale.
Una vita quotidiana come quella di molte persone.
Una vita fatta di sveglia all’alba, colazioni veloci e poi di corse per arrivare in orario a lavoro.
Una vita semplice, con qualche tocco di divertimento nel fine settimana.
Una vita composta di gioie e dolori.
Ma per Rhode non è solo questo, degli strani sogni hanno iniziato a tormentarla da qualche anno.
Prima erano sporadici, adesso più frequenti.
Prima si limitavano a manifestarsi durante la notte, adesso anche in pieno giorno da sveglia, facendola distaccare dalla realtà che la circonda.
Rhode non riesce a comprendere cosa siano quei sogni, e non riesce a comprendere come sia possibile che siano sempre gli stessi.
Ogni volta gli avvenimenti sono gli stessi, stessi movimenti, stesse azioni, stesse frasi, stessi pensieri, stessa angoscia, stesso luogo e poi il risveglio di colpo.
A volte è la stessa Mo a doverla riportare alla realtà.
Le sensazioni che Rhode prova ogni volta sono così reali, così profonde, che le può toccare con la mano.
Sogno dopo sogno, avrà la sensazione di non essere più un’osservatrice esterna, ma di essere lei la donna del sogno.
Ma com’è possibile?
La sua tranquillità verrà stravolta la notte di Halloween.
Rhode, Mo e Saphira hanno deciso di prendersi un weekend tutto per loro.
Un weekend lontano dagli impegni lavorativi e dalla solita routine.
Hanno deciso di festeggiare a Las Vegas, la città del divertimento, degli eccessi e delle serate senza pensieri.
La città che si trasformerà in una notte di inseguimenti, combattimenti e di un salto oltre il Velo.
Rhode verrà trascinata contro la propria volontà in un mondo nuovo, a lei sconosciuto.
Un mondo oltre il Velo.
Uno squarcio che si aprirà solamente la notte di Halloween ogni cinquant’anni.
Un mondo in cui si troverà bloccata e da cui non saprà come uscirne.
Un mondo che le si rivelerà attimo dopo attimo, cambiandola forse per sempre.
Terrea non è un mondo qualunque.
Terrea è un mondo vario, composto da diversi regni e da diverse specie.
Rhode presto si renderà conto che l’intero regno sta attraversando un momento estremamente difficile.
Uno strano morbo sta mietendo vittime, alcune persone presentano ustioni di terzo grado improvvise, altre
invecchiano improvvisamente, portandole inevitabilmente alla morte.
Si renderà presto conto che l’intero regno conta su di lei per scoprire cosa sta accadendo.
Ma come potrà scoprire cosa affligge l’intero regno, se ancora non ha recuperato i suoi ricordi?
Se ancora non ha compreso neanche cosa lei stessa sia?
La pressione su Rhode sarà veramente enorme, fin troppa per una persona sola.
Non le resta che chiedere aiuto all’ultima persona a cui pensava di chiederlo: a Varan.
Lo stesso Varan che l’ha accolta con odio e disprezzo al suo arrivo.
Lo stesso Varan che non sopporta di stare nella stessa stanza con lei, di respirare la stessa aria.
Lo stesso Varan che non vorrebbe altro che vederla sparire.
Ma perché?
Cos’è successo nel passato per portali a quel punto?
Che cosa ha fatto lei per renderlo così nei suoi confronti?
A Rhode non resta che scoprirlo al più presto, se vuole trovare un modo per collaborare e salvare il regno.

Stile e trama.

Fin dalle prime pagine mi sono immersa completamente nella lettura.
Lo stile è scorrevole, intrigante e coinvolgente al punto da avere la sensazione di essere finita all’intero della storia.
Intorno a me non vedevo più la mia camera da letto, ma vedevo questo mondo a me sconosciuto.
Un mondo a tratti terrificante e a tratti interessante.
Durante la lettura in me convivevano due sensazioni diverse.
Da una parte meraviglia all’idea di esplorare un mondo a me nuovo.
Un mondo completamente diverso dalla Terra.
Un mondo composto da diversi regni, con diverse corti all’interno di ogni regno e con diversi tipi di specie.
Dall’altra parte terrore, sconforto e agonia all’idea di non poter tornare a casa.
A quella che è stata casa per tutta la vita fino a quel momento.
All’idea di non poter rivedere la propria famiglia allargata, cioè quella di sangue e quella scelta.
Tutto questo perché lo squarcio nel velo tra i due mondi si apre solamente ogni cinquant’anni e in un giorno specifico.
Dolore profondo nel rendersi conto non solo di essere stati strappati alla propria vita contro la propria volontà, ma anche rendersi conto che mentre tu hai la possibilità di non invecchiare per secoli e di vivere a lungo, le persone che ami invece dall’altra parte del velo continueranno a farlo e tu non farai in tempo a stare loro dietro, perché i vostri tempi non coincidono più.
Nel rendersi conto che forse non rivedrai più le persone a te care, persone ad un passo da te che non puoi raggiungere.
Persone che passeranno la vita a cercarti, se non troverai un modo per avvertirle in qualche modo.
E’ davvero una lettura particolare, profonda.
Bellissima e dilaniante allo stesso tempo.
Ho apprezzato tantissimo l’originalità del mondo che l’autrice ha creato, non solo perché ha creato anche lei la sua versione di Vampiri, distinguendo le loro caratteristiche anche in base alla corte di appartenenza e al loro ceto sociale.
Ma creando diverse specie che non vedo l’ora di scoprire nei prossimi volumi.
La storia è narrata principalmente dal punto di vista di Rhode, quindi è facile entrare completamente in sintonia con lei e avere anche quella sensazione di protezione nei suoi confronti.
La storia è narrata al presente ovviamente, quindi il lettore scoprirà passo dopo passo insieme a lei il nuovo mondo.
Però ovviamente ci saranno dei momenti in cui lei inizierà a ricordare qual cosina, non molto in questo primo romanzo, ma qualche dettaglio si.
Questo fatto l’ho trovato coerente, perché è normale che ci voglia del tempo per far si che i ricordi ritornino dal luogo oscuro in cui sono finiti.

L’unica cosa che personalmente mi ha fatto storcere il naso e ho trovato poco coerente, è come l’autrice fa reagire Rhode dal giorno numero due.
Ora, è vero che non siamo tutti uguali, che ognuno di noi reagisce in modo differente alle situazioni, e magari l’autrice stessa avrebbe reagito come reagisce il suo personaggio e quindi ha scritto quel momento in quel modo per quel motivo.
Allo stesso tempo però io non lo trovo coerente con le parole dette poco prima e neanche abbastanza credibile, questa è la mia personale sensazione.
Io purtroppo tendo a vivere completamente al 100% le storie che amo, le storie che mi rendo conto di voler proseguire.
Rhode la sera prima fa di tutto per tornare a casa, per cercare di aprire in qualsiasi modo il Velo per tornare a casa e il giorno dopo senza ulteriori problemi, inizia a farsi vedere dal popolo, cerca di fare quello che le viene detto.
Ora se da una parte è una cosa che comprendo, visto l’ultimatum mascherato da concessione da parte di Madre Terrea alla richiesta che Rhode e Varan le faranno.
Comprendo che non ha altra scelta che darsi da fare.
Dall’altra parte essendo comunque umano soffrire e cadere nello sconforto, mi aspettavo che per i primi tempi lei reagisse in maniera diversa.
Mi aspettavo qualche giorno di “lutto”, di disperazione, di rifiuto.
Non solo, qualche giorno per ambientarsi meglio.
Cioè, comprendo la questione del: “il Velo si riaprirà solamente tra cinquant’anni”, ma possibile che non si disperi leggermente di più?
E’ solo questa parte che personalmente ho trovato poco coerente con la Rhode che ci viene presentata inizialmente.
Per il resto comprendo poi il darsi da fare sia per aiutare un popolo innocente che ha bisogno di aiuto, sia di trovare il modo di ottenere almeno una parte di quello che forse potrebbe ottenere.
Non voglio scendere in ulteriori dettagli.

Ammetto di essermi trovata veramente in difficoltà con i personaggi presenti all’intero di questa storia.
Gli unici due che ho veramente apprezzato sono proprio Rhode e Varan.
Mettendo da parte le due sorelle di Rhode che appaiono davvero poco, io mi riferisco a tutti i personaggi che ci vengono presentati appena lei arriva nel regno dei Vampiri a Terrea.
Personalmente ho trovato egoisti, fastidiosi, odiosi, insopportabili la maggior parte di loro.

Ribadisco quello che ho detto sopra, tendo a vivere intensamente le storie che mi rendo conto di apprezzare.
Di conseguenza sono entrata molto in empatia con il personaggio di Rhode e in un certo senso, ho provato quel senso di protezione verso di lei.
Se fossi all’interno della storia, mi arrabbierei decisamente anche per conto suo.
Non solo lei viene strappata contro la sua volontà dalla sua vita, vita in cui aveva persone che amava e che l’amavano.
Vita dove aveva sogni, desideri, paure, voglia di realizzarsi sempre di più, un lavoro che amava e progetti per il futuro.
Vita che personalmente penso si sia guadagnata profondamente e con il sangue, visto che lei nella sua prima vita ha letteralmente sacrificato la propria vita per entrambi i mondi.
Non contenti, appena “atterrata” oltre il Velo, non le danno neanche un attimo di respiro, non le danno il tempo di comprendere nulla.
Non le danno il tempo di guardarsi intorno, di ambientarsi, di permettere alla testa e al corpo di capire cosa stia succedendo.
Non danno tempo ai suoi ricordi di ritornare, di ambientarsi nuovamente, di capire chi sia adesso, chi era prima, quali sono i suoi poteri e come si usano.
Non le danno il tempo di elaborare tutto quello che le sta succedendo.
Non fanno altro che caricarle letteralmente subito sulle sue spalle tutto il regno.
Tutti i problemi del regno e pretendono da lei tutto.
Come può trovare così in poco tempo una cura al morbo, quando ancora deve capire chi cavolo era prima?
Come può lei trovare la cura in poco tempo, quando loro non l’hanno trovata in anni e anni?
E mi sono chiesta più volte, cosa diamine hanno fatto questi in quegli anni?
L’unico che davvero ha provato a far qualcosa è stato Varan, che si comprende subito che ama il suo popolo, che ama in generale tutta Terrea e farebbe qualsiasi cosa per proteggere il regno e il mondo.
Varan che tra l’altro deve sopportarsi anche la macchia delle colpe del padre.
Veramente, credetemi, se vi avventurerete in questa storia, proverete rabbia e rancore verso certi personaggi che non fanno altro che sorridere, e un secondo dopo lanciare Rhode nel cuore del problema, senza fare nulla in primis.
Nessuno di loro le chiede mai come sta veramente.
Cosa prova.
Se sta soffrendo per le persone che si è lasciata indietro, anzi, nessuno si pone proprio il problema di domandarglielo.
Perché per loro non ha valore quella vita che lei ha vissuto sulla Terra, perché non hanno fatto altro che aspettarla per poterle di nuovo chiedere ogni cosa.
Vi giuro, il disprezzo e l’odio che ho provato per certi personaggi è veramente enorme.
Per quanto riguarda Varan, personalmente l’ho apprezzato fin da subito anche lui come personaggio.
Perché comunque lo si percepisce che è un personaggio buono e che ci tiene alla sua gente.
Si comprende immediatamente che dev’essere successo qualcosa in passato per portarlo a trattare con odio e disprezzo Rhode.
Un qualcosa legato tra loro due.
Sono entrambi a modo loro personaggi forti, coraggiosi, intraprendenti, leali, audaci e sempre pronti a combattere senza mai arrendersi.

E’ un romanzo che consiglio? Si!
E’ un romanzo originale sotto diversi aspetti, non è completamente perfetto, ma regala tante emozioni e gioia nel leggerlo.
Personalmente non vedo l’ora di leggere il secondo, perché sono molto curiosa.
Come sempre molti fantasy mi portano sempre a fermarmi a riflettere.
Perché a differenza di quello che pensano in molti, i fantasy NON sono superficiali, anzi, nascondono dei messaggi e delle riflessioni incredibili.
A volte volontarie, a volte involontarie.
Lo so che questa è un opera di fantasia, ma porta molto a riflettere su come alcune cose sembrano molto simili a quelle che veramente sono avvenute e ancora avvengono attualmente nel nostro mondo per colpa del comportamento di alcuni esseri “umani”.
Ho messo umani tra le virgolette perché alcune persone non si possono definire tali, neanche persone se per questo.
In questo mondo il lettore scoprirà fin dalle primissime pagine che queste nove specie che abitano Terrea, una volta abitavano sulla Terra come gli esseri umani.
Erano anche loro abitanti della Terra, semplicemente si erano evoluti in maniera differente l’un l’altro com’è normale nell’evoluzione delle cose e hanno sviluppato diverse caratteristiche che invece gli umani, – gli Homo Sapiens -, non hanno mai sviluppato.
Finché un giorno qualcosa ha costretto loro a scappare dal nostro mondo e a rifugiarsi in un altro.
Sono stati costretti a scappare, a lasciare la propria vita, la propria casa, letteralmente il proprio mondo in tutti i sensi, per colpa di alcuni esseri umani.
Questo fatto non solo mi ha fatto provare rabbia, tristezza e quel senso di ingiustizia per i personaggi all’interno del romanzo.
Mi ha anche fatto ripensare ad avvenimenti realmente accaduti sia nel passato a noi estremamente lontano come ai tempi di altre specie di Homo.
Sia ai tempi più “recenti” come l’invasione da parte di alcuni popoli verso altri, costringendo gli abitanti di quel luogo a vivere nelle riserve, quelli sopravvissuti.
Oppure mi fa pensare anche a persone nate e cresciute nella stessa città, dove alcune sono costrette non solo dagli eventi, ma anche dai vicini a doversene andare.
Diverse e tantissime ingiustizie sia antiche sia recenti.

Infine, molte domande che il lettore si porrà durante la lettura non riceveranno una risposta, come per esempio cos’è successo esattamente cinquemila anni prima?
Oppure, per quale motivo non potrebbero sopravvivere sulla Terra, quando prima ci vivevano?
Per via dell’adattamento ad un ambiente diverso?
Spero che tutto questo venga approfondito nei seguiti.

Nel rendersi conto che forse non rivedrai più le persone a te care, persone ad un passo da te che non puoi raggiungere.
Persone che passeranno la vita a cercarti, se non troverai un modo per avvertirle in qualche modo.
E’ davvero una lettura particolare, profonda.
Bellissima e dilaniante allo stesso tempo.

Non le danno il tempo di guardarsi intorno, di ambientarsi, di permettere alla testa e al corpo di capire cosa stia succedendo.
Non danno tempo ai suoi ricordi di ritornare, di ambientarsi nuovamente, di capire chi sia adesso, chi era prima, quali sono i suoi poteri e come si usano.
Non le danno il tempo di elaborare tutto quello che le sta succedendo.
Non fanno altro che caricarle letteralmente subito sulle sue spalle tutto il regno.
Tutti i problemi del regno e pretendono da lei tutto.
Come può trovare così in poco tempo una cura al morbo, quando ancora deve capire chi cavolo era prima?
Come può lei trovare la cura in poco tempo, quando loro non l’hanno trovata in anni e anni?
E mi sono chiesta più volte, cosa diamine hanno fatto questi in quegli anni?
L’unico che davvero ha provato a far qualcosa è stato Varan, che si comprende subito che ama il suo popolo, che ama in generale tutta Terrea e farebbe qualsiasi cosa per proteggere il regno e il mondo.
Varan che tra l’altro deve sopportarsi anche la macchia delle colpe del padre.
Veramente, credetemi, se vi avventurerete in questa storia, proverete rabbia e rancore verso certi personaggi che non fanno altro che sorridere, e un secondo dopo lanciare Rhode nel cuore del problema, senza fare nulla in primis.
Nessuno di loro le chiede mai come sta veramente.
Cosa prova.
Se sta soffrendo per le persone che si è lasciata indietro, anzi, nessuno si pone proprio il problema di domandarglielo.
Perché per loro non ha valore quella vita che lei ha vissuto sulla Terra, perché non hanno fatto altro che aspettarla per poterle di nuovo chiedere ogni cosa.
Vi giuro, il disprezzo e l’odio che ho provato per certi personaggi è veramente enorme.
Per quanto riguarda Varan, personalmente l’ho apprezzato fin da subito anche lui come personaggio.
Perché comunque lo si percepisce che è un personaggio buono e che ci tiene alla sua gente.
Si comprende immediatamente che dev’essere successo qualcosa in passato per portarlo a trattare con odio e disprezzo Rhode.
Un qualcosa legato tra loro due.
Sono entrambi a modo loro personaggi forti, coraggiosi, intraprendenti, leali, audaci e sempre pronti a combattere senza mai arrendersi.

E’ un romanzo che consiglio? Si!
E’ un romanzo originale sotto diversi aspetti, non è completamente perfetto, ma regala tante emozioni e gioia nel leggerlo.
Personalmente non vedo l’ora di leggere il secondo, perché sono molto curiosa.
Come sempre molti fantasy mi portano sempre a fermarmi a riflettere.
Perché a differenza di quello che pensano in molti, i fantasy NON sono superficiali, anzi, nascondono dei messaggi e delle riflessioni incredibili.
A volte volontarie, a volte involontarie.
Lo so che questa è un opera di fantasia, ma porta molto a riflettere su come alcune cose sembrano molto simili a quelle che veramente sono avvenute e ancora avvengono attualmente nel nostro mondo per colpa del comportamento di alcuni esseri “umani”.
Ho messo umani tra le virgolette perché alcune persone non si possono definire tali, neanche persone se per questo.
In questo mondo il lettore scoprirà fin dalle primissime pagine che queste nove specie che abitano Terrea, una volta abitavano sulla Terra come gli esseri umani.
Erano anche loro abitanti della Terra, semplicemente si erano evoluti in maniera differente l’un l’altro com’è normale nell’evoluzione delle cose e hanno sviluppato diverse caratteristiche che invece gli umani, – gli Homo Sapiens -, non hanno mai sviluppato.
Finché un giorno qualcosa ha costretto loro a scappare dal nostro mondo e a rifugiarsi in un altro.
Sono stati costretti a scappare, a lasciare la propria vita, la propria casa, letteralmente il proprio mondo in tutti i sensi, per colpa di alcuni esseri umani.
Questo fatto non solo mi ha fatto provare rabbia, tristezza e quel senso di ingiustizia per i personaggi all’interno del romanzo.
Mi ha anche fatto ripensare ad avvenimenti realmente accaduti sia nel passato a noi estremamente lontano come ai tempi di altre specie di Homo.
Sia ai tempi più “recenti” come l’invasione da parte di alcuni popoli verso altri, costringendo gli abitanti di quel luogo a vivere nelle riserve, quelli sopravvissuti.
Oppure mi fa pensare anche a persone nate e cresciute nella stessa città, dove alcune sono costrette non solo dagli eventi, ma anche dai vicini a doversene andare.
Diverse e tantissime ingiustizie sia antiche sia recenti.

Infine, molte domande che il lettore si porrà durante la lettura non riceveranno una risposta, come per esempio cos’è successo esattamente cinquemila anni prima?
Oppure, per quale motivo non potrebbero sopravvivere sulla Terra, quando prima ci vivevano?
Per via dell’adattamento ad un ambiente diverso?
Spero che tutto questo venga approfondito nei seguiti.

Featuring enemies to loves, soulmates and a hea this book and indeed series is for anyone in search of a fast paced fantasy adventure with a little spice and intrigue.

Il Reame di Terrea è uno di quei luoghi che ti affascinano sin da subito: oscuro, magnetico, pieno di creature che conosciamo solo attraverso miti e leggende ma che qui sembrano più reali che mai. Vampiri, Draghi, Demoni, Serpenti, Maghi, Lupi, Fate, ed Elfi popolano questo mondo e in questo primo volume conosceremo gli abitanti di Ysramaya dominato dai Vampiri e le sue Corti: la Corte del Sangue e la Corte degli Incubi che si differenziano non solo per gli abiti e il colore dei capelli ma dalle loro capacità. I primi sono immuni al Sole, i secondi sono capaci di scatenare incubi coscienti nelle menti degli altri.
Mi sono completamente innamorata del worldbuilding grazie alle descrizioni delle Corti, le loro caratteristiche, le dinamiche tra i regni ma soprattutto dalla Foresta degli Incubi. Il tutto è costruito e descritto in modo così vivido che sembra di camminarci dentro.
Rohdelia è una giovane infermiera che vive a Los Angeles e che durante una festa insieme alle sue due sorelle, viene rapita e condotta nel Regno di Terrea oltrepassando il Velo (cio’ che tiene connessi i due mondi ) per mezzo di un portale che si apre ogni cinquant’anni. In poco tempo la trama prende una piega del tutto inaspettata, la nostra protagonista non solo deve fare i conti con le rivelazioni del suo passato e di ciò che rappresenta per il suo popolo ( lei è la Regina dei Vampiri che si sacrificò per salvare il suo popolo da un Re tiranno ) ma dovrà collaborare con il Principe Varan e risolvere non pochi problemi se vogliono che il popolo sopravviva.
Tra intrighi, misteri, tensioni, una missione da portare a termine e un senso costante di minaccia che aleggia su ogni pagina, mi sono ritrovata in un attimo al finale.
Rhodelia e Varan sono un perfetto enemies to lovers con quella chimica pazzesca che ti fa desiderare ardentemente il momento in cui entrambi cederanno.
Saremo testimoni di un amore antico, già scritto e voluto dal destino, che si ritrova a distanza di anni con un dolore che non riesce a dargli pace e una fiducia tutta da ricostruire. E vedere quell’odio trasformarsi, incrinarsi, cedere sotto il peso dell’amore che li unisce mi ha fatto impazzire, perché senti ogni singolo passo di quel cambiamento, ogni resistenza che si spezza fino a non poter più tornare indietro.
L’unico tasto un po’ dolente di questo libro, per me, è stato il finale.
L’ho percepito un po’ frettoloso rispetto a tutto il resto. Ci sono dinamiche e rivelazioni che avrebbero meritato più spazio, soprattutto legate a un personaggio che lascia dietro di sé domande importanti. Nonostante questo, la curiosità resta altissima, perché siamo solo all’inizio. Un primo tassello che apre le porte a nuovi regni, nuove coppie, nuove storie… e io non vedo l’ora di scoprire il prossimo.

La storia ha delle basi buone che mi hanno convinta, l'unica pecca forse è che la storia essendo un libro autoconclusivo facente parte di una saga ma, che nei prossimi capitoli vede altri personaggi principali ed altri regni, è forse un filo troppo sbrigativa e a tratti confusionaria.
Regge molto bene l'idea che la protagonista non si ricordi nulla della sua vita precedente essendo resuscitata uguale nella forma ma diversa nella sostanza, soprattutto perché rinasce sulla terra e non su Terrea luogo dove la storia si svolge.
La protagonista infatti rinasce ma sulla Terra e solo dopo 50 anni viene rapita e strappata dalla vita che conosceva per approdare in un mondo dove tutti sembrano conoscerla ma lei non ha nessun ricordo salvo alcuni ricordi che le si presentano sottoforma di incubi sin da quando è piccola. Sulla Terra è una ragazza normale con un lavoro, fa l'infermiera, ed ha due sorelle, una biologica ed una acquisita, sta festeggiando proprio con le sue sorelle quando viene trasportata con l'inganno su Terrea e non è semplice questo salto temporale oltre che fisico, a suon di frecciatine con il protagonista maschile ed aiuto dalla corte in cui si vede essere scelta come regina Rho non demorde e lottando con unghie e denti riesce a superare ogni prova che le si presenta di fronte anche quella dei modi di dire del tutto diversi.
La componente romance è presente ma non appesantisce la storia anzi incolla alle pagine, la spiegazione del perché lui la odi è plausibile e ben fondata e quando si arriva a capire il perché dell'odio di lui è innegabile empatizzare anche con lui, solo quando i due si avvicinano la storia prevede anche i capitoli in prima persona di lui mentre per buona parte della storia abbiamo solo ed esclusivamente la parte di lei.
Un buon romantasy con elementi mistery e gotici a cui non do il massimo dei voti solo per un gusto personale più vicino alle saghe corpose ed alle mille mila pagine della storie.

This book kept me HOOKED.
Positives:
- really enjoyed the FMC she was strong without being overly annoying and I kinda liked that after the initial trying to run away she just kinda went with it.
-I liked the memories randomly distributed throughout cause it helped put the pieces together but still made the final reveal fun.
-loved that we got to see the sister.
-really enjoyed the spin with the modern terminology I also really appreciated using modern references like the battle of Helms Deep. Sometimes in battle scenes my eyes blur at all the descriptions so that was very helpful.
-the animosity from him was totally warranted and I felt really bad for him.
-always love when men cry for their women.
Not as positive but not negative:
-Parts of it felt a bit uhm idk YA maybe but from like 20 years ago if that makes sense? Maybe I associate purple with teenage-level books for whatever reason.
-felt like there was maybe Too Much action like there was barely a scene that wasn’t interrupted by some calamity happening.
-what was Ambrose’s motive? Like .. did Hollyn know? Was there ever a real what’s his name? I feel like it just kinda ended without any kind of explanation. Is that coming in future books? Like, there was no GASP IT WAS AMBROSE ALL ALONG feeling because it felt simultaneously obvious and also out of nowhere and irrelevant.
-needed more Varan POVs.
-wouldn’t market this as fake relationship there was literally one (1) scene where he’s like touching her to pretend but that was it. And I’m a fake relationship connoisseur so I was expecting more and it didn’t come.
This is a really cool concept having different authors writing each story I’m looking forward to the rest.

I have very mixed feelings about this book. The idea itself was interesting, the execution - not so much. The story was entertaining and engaging, and I did have fun (that’s why I’m not rating it one star), however the writing was very chaotic at times and only got worse the further you got into the book. The last 30% of the book was so meandering, I still have no idea what exactly happened.
The other thing is the lack of development, both of the characters and the relationship between them. The romance was not good - it had potential, but the things went sideways pretty quickly. We did not see these characters getting to know each other, we were just told they had this amazing connection in the past life so let’s just move forward to present and pretend like it’s enough to explain where their feelings are coming from and why do they love each other. It was really enemies turned lovers in basically one chapter.
Moreover, there was no inividual character development either. Rhode was the exact same person as she was at the beginning of the story and I felt like the events of the story did not affect her at all. It was even worse with the male love interest (I already forgot his name), because I do not know this man at all. He’s like a blank page.
Overall, although I didn’t hate this book and did enjoy it at times, I still feel like it has a lot of flaws. I am interested in continuing with the series though, I would like to see the other characters’ journeys through this fantasy world.

Rho e’ la nostra protagonista, una ragazza apparentemente normale, vive una vita normale, lavora come infermiera, a due sorelle di cui una biologica e l’altra acquisita. Lei non ricorda nulla della sua vita passata, non sa che in realtà lei era di un pianeta chiamato Terrea e ora vive sul pianeta terra.
Finché un giorno non viene rapita con forza, lei non sa nulla del perché sia stata rapita e ancor di più del perché molti la conoscano quando lei non sapeva nemmeno l’esistenza di questo mondo.
Il nostro protagonista maschile, il principe Varan odia la nostra Rho, ogni giorno si punzecchiano, si lanciano battutine. Ma piano, piano scopriremo del perché ci sia così tanto astio nei suoi confronti, scopriremo che ci sarà sotto dell’altro.
C’è del romantasy, c’è del gotico, c’è dello spicy e voi dovete assolutamente recuperarlo appena esce. 😍 un libro che mi è piaciuto tanto, un libro che parla molto di lei ma che alla fine ci racconta anche qualcosa di lui.
Avrei tolto qualcosa, sono sincera! Ma alla fine non mi è sembrato così male. Ero convinta che gli altri libri fossero sempre dedicati ai nostri protagonisti e invece no, all’interno di questo primo libro conosciamo dei nuovi personaggi e da qui ognuno avrà una propria storia.

In questo ho apprezzato anche il fatto che il romance presente non era solo catalizzato su di esso, ma dava priorità alla storia in generale.
Finché un giorno non viene rapita con forza, lei non sa nulla del perché sia stata rapita e ancor di più del perché molti la conoscano quando lei non sapeva nemmeno l’esistenza di questo mondo.
Il nostro protagonista maschile, il principe Varan odia la nostra Rho, ogni giorno si punzecchiano, si lanciano battutine. Ma piano, piano scopriremo del perché ci sia così tanto astio nei suoi confronti, scopriremo che ci sarà sotto dell’altro.
C’è del romantasy, c’è del gotico, c’è dello spicy e voi dovete assolutamente recuperarlo appena esce. 😍 un libro che mi è piaciuto tanto, un libro che parla molto di lei ma che alla fine ci racconta anche qualcosa di lui.
