Apocalypse Me #1

Apocalypse Me: A LitRPG Adventure

Rate this book
He doesn't want to destroy the world. Problem is, he's an Apocalypse.
Zeke and his friends are enjoying the city when suddenly, the apocalypse begins. Which one?

ALL OF THEM.

Lucky (or unlucky) enough to be chosen as an apocalypse himself, Zeke sets off to [Devour] his way to the top!

It wouldn't be so bad, but his best friend's out to kill him, that rock has a gun, and everything, literally everything, has gone to hell. Zeke just came out here to have a good time, and honestly, he's feeling so attacked right now.

Don't miss the start of an epic LitRPG Apocalypse Series that perfectly balances action, comedy, and pure, unadulterated chaos. It's like Chainsaw Man meets Battle Royale!

3.5 out of 5

It's a good story, but I have 2 major issues with it.

The first is probably the worst of the two, and it's the fact that Zeke (the mc) has so many moments of pure stupidity. He's fine for most of the story, but at the worst times, he'll just make the dumbest decisions possible.

The second has to do with how the author handles group battles. During almost every fight, some of the characters just stop existing. Events play out as if they weren't there and capable of helping.

Not great

The story line is pretty interesting but the writing is only so-so. The author has a habit of over explaining the obvious that was killing it for me, and when one of the characters started complaining about women's soccer players making pennies on the dollar compared to men I threw in the towel. Got almost halfway.

The world ends and the city gets trapped in a black bubble. Many different things become an apocalypse and they have a fight-it-out cage match scenario. The MC comes out victorious managing to save a number of people. They (MC and friends) discover they were not the only place so affected. It’s an introspective novel, the main character faces unique challenges. It’s an interesting world, pretty fast story. It’s got some good jokes. And the narration was wonderful. Please enjoy.

(so I tried listening to the audiobook)

First and foremost I want to say I loved the concept of the story it was intriguing and at first I really wanted to know more, however the writing style of this book absolutely destroyed that feeling to the point I dont and won't even finsh the book. This is one of those books that the author maybe shouldn't have turn this book into an audiobook due to the ridiculous amount of repetitive fluff writing there is no reason under any circumstances that a book should read off stats and skills every chapter and sometimes multiple times in the same chapter when all the characters gain is one or two skills, It breaks both the immersion and flow of the story and by the time the skill tree gets a minute or two minutes long I personally have to refocus on what the book was even talking about. The only reason to list stats that much is to pad the word count of the book.
The author also again decided to add can't, can't, can't multiple times on an available skill list for the main character to learn if they can't have the skills then don't put the word can't just don't mention those other skills look I get it when people read books they skim over that for the majority and audio you don't really have that unless you dictate the chapters skill list or character sheet whatever. Overall, the book had potential but fell completely flat with the writing style. I can't recommend this book at all.

Apocalypse me is a story like many others in the LitRPG genre, especially those in the time loop subgenre. Only, this one doesn't have the main character being the one that loops. That makes it unique among the books I've read. It's a nice skillset to have, but not when you the main character has one of his best friends try to kill him before the apocalypse even starts. It's an interesting story, and while it's a bit off the wall at times, it never stops with the action or the strange skills obtained. Also, the main character's ability to merge skills is a nice touch. I've seen that before, but I don't think I've seen it used as much as it is here, always making interesting skill combinations that turn into new and (usually) useful skills.
If you're a LitRPG fan, this book might interest you because of it's unusual skills and level advancement mechanics. If you aren't, then it might interest you because of it's odd story line if that's your cup of tea.
Recommended for LitRPG fans that want something a bit different.

I've been loath to start this book even though the blurb mentioned that the MC, Zeek was a good guy, but there just wasn't anyway that Noct could make me believe that an Apocalypse Zeek was a good guy! No Sirrrie. But he did, about the time Zeek took out the coffee Apocalypse, don't ask, read the book! 😳 And I loved that! Even though I loved everything about the book it still took me quite awhile to connect with Zeek, but I eventually made that connection and of course that made all the difference.
So yeah grab and find out about that Coffee Apocalypse!

An Interesting And Unusual Concept For The Story Makes For A Surreal Novel.

This novel is as surreal as _Alice in Wonderland_ and as gritty as _Escape from New York_ , but it works and makes an interesting read. The character development of the main character, the supporting characters, and even the opponents are all equally bizarre, yet logically consistent within the framework of the literary universe Noct has created.

I look forward to the sequel to this novel.

Book one

Well I must say that this was a better read than I thought it would be.
There are some mistakes. Mostly just the author using laid when he should use lay.
For those interested the story continues on Royalroad.
You can find all the mistakes that I found in this book on Goodreads.

6/10 Just need to fix those mistakes and this would be 8/10

Zombies!

Great writing. Excellent story. The author does an excellent job introducing the gaming terminology through the story. Pictures are painted with the authors words. This writing could make a great graphic novel also. Very enjoyable.

Devouring and absorbtion skill in the apocalypse. well, quite slow at first but quite interesting to follow. beginning with dino apocalypse, this volume closed with defeating dino apocalypse. everything can be an apocalypse here, this is the meaning of Concept in this universe.

Good read

I think there were too many jarring technical errors in science to allow me to immerse myself in the story.

Heavy on action and chaos.

M
It missed completely on comedy. Without humor to bind it all together, it just comes off as a disjointed mess.

It suck to be hungry

This was an interesting book that any idea can become a powerful being. I really like Ryan's power. I read/listened to the book, I saw a few mushed words, and the audio repeated a few sentences. It was a really good book, I am excited for book 2 in May of this year.
