Carnage

Prescott Ellis - Pestilence.

They call us The Four Horsemen.
Four friends forged in fire and blood.
No one knows where we came from nor how we got our name.
Drake, Francis, West and I rule the financial industry like kings.
Gods in our own right.

We grew up with a fifth. A girl. Scarlett.
She was one of us until she was ripped away from her life.
The only trace of her was dust in the wind.

One day she returned to the city and sought us out.
Scarlett couldn’t remember who we’d been to her, but we recalled her all too well.
If she knew what was good for her, she would have never come back.
The moment she stepped through the doors of Fortuity, it was the beginning of her end.
And the start of our reign over the girl who wanted us dead.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is one of best set of books I have read in a while. I couldn't put this series down. I loved that you got to have each character's point of view. It actually helps you to really understand the way they all think. It also gives you a better understanding of their own past.

The series starts with Scarlett not remembering the first 16 years of her life. That means she does not remember growing up with Drake (War), Prescott (Pestilence), Francis (Famine), and West (War). They were all born on the same day, grew up together, and the four want her back.

Each book takes you through how each gets a part of themselves back. I could not stop reading once I started. I had to know how their story would end. I can say that as I got to the climax, the way they handled things was fitting. And the rest after, I will not say much but oh my damn.

If I was faced with the four men in this book, I would definitely join in on their evil plans. The interactions between Scarlett and the four were so good. I loved how they grew throughout the series and worked through their issues.

This is definitely a series I would recommend.

for anyone tired of Instalove /insta-perfect-relationships

If you've ever been let down by instalove, this series will fix that. The plot and the relationships in this MFMMM group develop together, all the way through. It's not a book that locks in the relationships early while the plot carries the rest of the series. They're still working out how to be together as the plot resolves, and the two threads stay fully intertwined to the end. Impressive.

It's also one of the few amnesia tropes I think actually works. It builds a mystery around the mystery, instead of using amnesia as the sole engine for miscommunication and angst. The first big reveal doesn't land until partway through book two. Hard to pin down exactly where, since I read the omnibus, but it's well over 500 pages in before you get a glimpse behind the curtain. I loved the slow build around what happened "before," and how they're dealing with the "after," ten years out. On a sidenote, you will need a lot of suspended disbelief for this story, but that’s fine. Just go with it.

The spicy scenes are frequent and long. Some get repetitive, but the shibari is a great addition, and I'm glad to get some thoughtful representation there. This might be one of the only times I caught myself wanting more story than spice. It's a genuinely great mystery with a strong string of reveals.

Three stars, and I want to be clear why, because it's not the usual reason. Normally I dock stars because the story couldn't carry its own weight and got filled in with boring spice to keep momentum. Here it's the opposite: the story is strong enough that it didn't need nearly as much sexy time as it got. Blasphemy, I know. I found myself wanting to get back to the relationship development, which is mentally and emotionally complex, and to the slow reveal mystery, instead of another lengthy scene. The author is committed to full execution too, no fade to black. Wanting less spice is genuinely rare for me. This story earned my attention on its own, and the frequency of spice worked against it instead of for it.

Please note, though: if you're here primarily for the spice, there's no shortage. Plenty of well executed helpings to go around.

Fmc is weak and boring. The writing is unnecessarily repetitive. If you like your FMCs with no thought process, backbone, personality, or ability to make a decision, this is your book.

Love this series.

Scarlet gets a job at a firm that is owned by her 4 previous best childhood friends. She doesn’t remember them due to memory loss from an accident (that separated her from them), but they know she was sent there to ruin their business. I expect them to be really mean towards her but they quickly realize that they’ve missed her and she belongs with them. The first book has a scene where they drug and rape her (which she likes), and from they the relationship progresses quickly.

By book 3 I believe it is the men become really agitated that they have all these memories of loving Scarlet but she is unable to remember them. Eventually West (one of the men) puts her through a traumatizing experience that mirrors the accident, forcing her to remember everything.

Through a flashback we find out that two other boys tried to rape Scarlet when they were all young. Her four men punished them by knocking them out and pouring concrete on them from a construction site, killing them. Scarlet finds out from West and becomes so angry she backs away from him. She falls over the edge of a railing on the third story of a building. West grabs her but she eventually slips and falls to the ground unconscious and barely alive. She gets taken by ambulance to the hospital. After West and the other boys are questioned by the police they head to the hospital but find her gone. It turns out she was taken in by the father of the two boys that were killed and wants to use her to take down the business of west and the other men in the present day (10 years after the accident).

Back in the present, Scarlet runs from West and they have to chase her down. The story has a lot of darkness to it, but the love and devotion these men have for Scarlet, as well as the pain you can feel from them yearning for her are perfect. They all share the same birthday, they call her their queen and equal, while mentioning numerous times that her place is at their side. They have has previous flings but Scarlet has always been it for them and Bailey does an amazing job of making us feel this love

This is a dark romance. It is four separate books but all four are combined in this addition. This is DARK. It is set in England. There is a mystery surrounding the FMC and what happened to her as a teen. There are four MMCs that are successful businessmen who hire the FMC but do questionable things outside of the law. My main problem with this book, I think stems from the setting being in England and laws being different there. Several times throughout the book I questioned why they didn't just use a gun. The MMCs are violent men and I was expecting them to work in the underbelly of the city however they do not. The author has created extremely violent scenes for these violent men but not all of the MMC have violent personalities. There is a ton of sex in this story. It seems each chapter the FMC is juggling her MMCs in various different ways. I'm not knocking a good sex scene but by the end of this book it became a little much. The final sex scene was pushing on difficult to read. Spoiler: They collected the blood of one of their victims, poured into a bathtub, and took a bath together while the FMC had sex with all four covered in blood. I have read some really messed up stories but have walked away truly enjoying them. This story left me questioning what the heck I'd just read. I rated this a 4 star but it is more like a 3.5 and I'm not sure I'd recommend it to just anyone. Read with caution.

I listened to the complete series as a box.
The sex was awesome between all of them. You have when the 4 of them are with the FMC - its rough, hard and completely the FMC being used. Its not the soft love making that some RH's do, this is the complete opposite. When each of them are with the FMC alone those are hot to. Each man has their own perversions and each are hot.

One thing I really didnt like and could have been removed from the book is how much they 'thought" about the night they hurt the FMC in the past. The story went over it so much that I started skipping past cause you can only say the same thing so many times/ways.

More than I expected

I loved this series. I came across it randomly and am so glad I did. The depth and diversity of the characters made them all easily distinguishable and yet they all melded together seamlessly. There was complexity within the plot and it neither dragged or developed too quickly. All of the details came together at some point (except a scene where they came across Villetti, who I thought would develop into the plot somewhere; and tattooing Scarlett).
Like all good reads, it was sad to finish and leave the characters and their story behind.

Four Horsemen: The Complete Series

This was an exceptional read. TBH I had a hard time at the beginning because it seemed to move slow but some good friends recommended I stick with it and I'm incredibly happy I did. The dynamics between all 5 of the main characters grabs you and doesn't let go. To see the love and trust eventually rebuild even through the darkness is exciting to experience.

Bringing the 🔥

I loved the trauma drama of the story line between the FMC and 4 MMCs. The view points of their relationships make the whole book hot because of the dedication they have to one another, which is unrivaled. If you love bad boy in the streets and possessive softies in the sheets, this is it. Please read trigger warning before venture into this land as it could trigger some.

Dnf around 100 pages. There wasn’t a gripping bit that kept me. And you know she’s the one they hurt and lost her memories. It just felt like circle conversations between the boys. Kept in library for a few weeks and didn’t pick back up. Might try again. Might not.

not bad

The first half was a big built up but it picked up afterwards. The kidnapping when she was an adult was too short, wishing they dragged that out a bit more before solving the problem. Lots of 🌶️🌶️🌶️ though

I absolutely adore this series. Definitely check the TWs for non-con and a lot of other dark content. Everything you could want from a dark reverse harem series. I love their backstory too.

54% through I DNF-ed. It was good at first the first 2 books but I felt like it was dragging on and the FMC kept on forgiving them and I was annoyed in book 3.

Amazing series! I loved the banter between the 5. Scarlett was a ride a die for her men and I loved it.
