WILL SHE CHOOSE PRISON OR A LOVELESS MARRIAGE?
Arian - spirited and unconventional - had always shocked the residents of World's End with her wild behaviour. As she begins to make a name for herself in the leather and shoe-making trade, she is overjoyed when the intriguing and charismatic Calvin Temple decides to back her. Yet this backing proves disastrous when her venture with a French company fails and it looks as though all their money will be lost.
When Arian sets out for France in desperation to try to salvage their investment, she falls foul of the law and is given a grim alternative to prison - a loveless marriage with a man she despises.
Will she ever be able to find fulfilment with the man she loves, or will she be forced to face a life sentence of unhappiness?
Arian is the fourth title in Iris Gower's Cordwainers series. Have you read The Shoemaker's Daughter, The Oyster Catchers and Honey's Farm, the previous three titles?
Iris Gower (b. 1935) was a Swansea-based novelist. Her historical romances are all set within Swansea and Gower in South Wales.
Iris (real name Iris Davies) was born in Mumbles and lived in Derwen Fawr, a part of Sketty, Swansea. She had four adult children, though her husband of 48 years, Tudor Davies, died on 15 April 2002 after suffering a major stroke. She later lived with a partner, Peter.
She was one of the top-selling authors in the country, and was awarded an MA in Creative Writing by Cardiff University, as well as an Honorary Fellowship at the University of Wales, Swansea. She wrote and published around 40 books including 26 novels.
Gower died at Singleton Hospital, Swansea on 20 July, 2010. She was 75 years old.
Arian often shocked the residents of World's End with her wild behaviour. As she began to make a name for herself in the shoe making business, she wins the backing of the intriguing and charismatic Calvin Temple. But Arian and Calvin's venture with a French Company failed, it looked like they were going to loose all of their money. Adrian sets out for France hoping to salvage their investment.
All good things must come to an end and this is the final boon in the Cordwainers series. These books have all been descriptively written. Thd characters are well rounded and believable. Things go from bad to worse when Arian gets to France. She finds herself on the wrong side of the law. She has a hard decision to make. Will she end up in jail or find herself in a loveless marriage with a man she despises. I've really enjoyed this series and I will read more from Iřis Ģower in future.

I have really enjoyed reading this book with its evocative and descriptive storyline and I would thoroughly recommend this reading of this book to anyone. Love the characters so easily to read your pulled into the plot great book and fun
I enjoyed The 4th book in this series, but it has me wondering how so much bad can happen to one person? She doesn’t give up or let it keep her from success. I also enjoyed the little snippets of stories from the previous books. I will look into other books by this author.
I loved this book it was so very Welsh that is not meant to sound bad. I am Welsh and I dont get home much but the way things are described are perfect. The story runs so smoothly 5 Stars.Thank you netgalley for letting me review it and Iris gower for writing it.
Enjoyed this book even though it's the third in a series and I haven't read the others. It stands alone well. It follows the trials and tribulations of a young woman who doesn't always make the right decisions, but is believable.
A great read lots of twisted and turns following the lives of Arian and Calvin . Still set in Swansea we are how our character are still in each other's lives
