Love is the blood of life. To live forever, one must drink every last drop. The line between love and hate is often drawn in blood.
For Celeste, a powerful witch who sold her soul for revenge, living her lives hunted and feared is nothing new. Death is her companion, and darkness is her friend. But when both take the form of a lethal vampire who tries to kill her, her precarious fate hangs in the balance in more ways than one.
For Roman, a listless vampire who exists solely because his Master wills it, turning into a creature of darkness and death was never a choice. His life ended the night his heart ceased to beat and for a thousand years, there had been nothing that made him want to live. But when a witch drenched in blood and magic crosses his path, something he thought long dead inside of him awakens.
Joined by desire. Separated by hate.
Can two monsters help each other heal from the wounds of the past or will they choose to destroy that which promises salvation?
One thing is for there will be blood. And if they are lucky, it won’t be theirs.
Bleeding Love is part of The Soulless Witch series, but it can be read as a standalone.
I received this as an ARC and I’m so happy I did! This is a novella/prequel for the Soulless Witch series and it has me hooked on this universe. I absolutely will continue reading the rest of the series:
It’s a touching meet cute wrapped in a sexy violent bow and I love it. An ancient, powerful witch and a thousand year old vampire. Neither feels enthusiastic about life anymore because they’re bored yet damaged. It’s something they recognize in each other and despite a rocky start they find comfort in each other. It’s just the right power dynamic for readers who want “he kisses her forehead after she slaughters her enemies” vibes.
I could keep reading about these two characters for many more books!
"Do not give up on life before you have experienced it fully, and when you find someone who makes your heart sing, never let them go. Love is the blood of life, Roman. Without it, you won't live. You'd merely exist and there is nothing more tragic than that" An ARC read I really enjoyed! Fast paced and full of spice 🌶🥵 can't wait to read the next one!
This was a prequel to soulless witch. This featured Celeste a witch who keeps coming back from the dead. She is over 2000 years old. She was being hunted when Roman found her. She thought he wanted to kill her like everyone else. Roman is a vampire and he felt a strong connection to her. This touches on how Roman came to be a vampire and what happened in his pre vampire life.
This novella was everything and more! It’s fast paced, exciting and a sizzling hot read! Celeste and Roman are both broken, will they ever find peace? You’ll have to read it to find out.
Fast paced novella with broken main characters Celeste and vampire Roman. Fate brings them together but are they able to coexist or will things get too much for them. I loved reading this only wish it was longer.
This book is the prequel to the soulless witch series, it's a fast paced novella telling us the wonderful story of Celeste and Roman. It can be read as a standalone or part of the series but I would read it together better that way. It takes us in to a world that is magical and letting us see just how much these two are a power couple.
Roman is our MMC he's a powerful vampire and Celeste is our FMC who is a ancient witch. Together they are truly amazing.
Both of them have been through some stuff, they both live life's they don't want.
"Do not give up on life before you have experienced it fully and when you find someone who makes your heart sing, never let them go. Love is the blood of life, Roman. Without it, you won't live. You'd merely exist and there is nothing more tragic than that."
Roman was out feeding and on his way back he smells something so mouth watering, oh so delicious he just has to know who or what it is, so he follows the scent to a field when he gets there he is surprised by the scene before him body's lay mauled across the way. He thinks what on earth did this, he hears a noise and follows the sound he stops in his tracks and that's when he sees her, body's all around her, covered in blood head raised to the sky. This witch has taking on all these hunters by herself. He can't wait to feast on her. But he didn't expect her to put up a fight. He gets a taste and it's so breath taking he needs more. And he decides he's going to keep her. When she wakes up she's trapped somewhere . Then it becomes clear the vampire has took her. And he won't let her go either. No amount off magic will set her free from there. She needs to come up with a plan find out how to break the spell that keeps her trapped.
They both are intrigued by each other, their chemistry and attraction is undeniable. Feelings they didn't think they possessed. The vampire sets out little witches pulse racing. I loved the bickering between these two, the constant trying to kill him and her being annoyed that nothing she does works. It's filled with so much action, twists, turns, spice and more. Each page is exciting and has you wondering what's coming next. I couldn't put it down. And that ending killed me, shattered my heart and left it shattered. I can't wait to read more from this series. Highly recommend.
I received this gem as an ARC read!!! This came at the right time because I just read a different book that I hated and felt like it was taking me into a slump and this book SNATCHED me right out of it. I adored this book so much. I would rate it at a 4.5 but I will round it up to a 5 because I just know this series is going to be EVERYTHING. I can’t wait to dive into the Soulless Witch Series New favorite book couple Celeste & Roman. I mean can we say power couple!!! An ancient witch and well-seasoned vampire. Both have been let down in life and have started to grow bored with how their lives are. In each other they found that once spark they had so long ago, but can it work? I love a story with some good spice and a good storyline. The author delivers both of these, and it was that *French kiss* moment, if you don’t understand that then it was the center of a cinnamon roll. Roman has the touch her and die or he will burn this world down for her and I AM HERE FOR IT ZADDDDY ROMAN. He has me in a chokehold right now. My favorite quote of the book ‘Do not give up on life before you have experienced it fully, and when you find someone who makes your heart sing, never let them go. Love is the blood of life, Roman. Without it, you won’t live. You’d merely exist and there is nothing more tragic than that.’
This was a free book on Amazon, so I went into it knowing almost nothing. I didn’t realize until the end that it was a prequel. I also didn’t realize that the two actual books in this series are ‘why choose’. I have nothing against that trope, but I don’t really prefer it, so I am on the fence if I will read the other two books in this series.
✨That being said, this was a really solid and amazing book. ✨
I LOVE a good enemies to reluctant partners to lovers trope, and this absolutely delivered. The chemistry between Celeste and Roman was amazing, even when they were trying to kill each other.
Celeste is everything you could want in a FMC. She’s a powerful witch who can hold her own in a fight, she’s morally grey, and she knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to take it. And I must admit, I did love Roman…I mean I’m a vampire girly at heart. He did a lot of things that he shouldn’t have, but he was very charming and sexy while he was doing them.
The book does skip around a lot in terms of time jumps, but that makes sense given that it’s a prequel.
Obviously the book ends on a cliffhanger as well, but if you like ‘why choose’ and enjoy paranormal romance, then you’ll enjoy this book.
The perfect power duo, in the companion novella you could see the chemistry between Roman and Celeste which we enjoyed in The Soulless Witch. I loved every page of their story, this is a perfect enemy to lovers, you could feel the tension between them from the very first moment Roman, my poor vampire, was so cruel that his life as a human broke my heart. I loved Roman and Maria and was intrigued to learn more about her later, maybe in the second book.
Two broken characters find refuge from each other, finding the peace they were looking for after centuries of being haunted. Celeste found peace in Roman, and although her fear was more in the end, it doesn't take away from the fact that she was pleased during those years with him. This prequel takes us further into Celeste's world and gives us the reason for many things, especially her important history with Roman. It has excellent world-building, along with characters with a good background history.
Thanks to J.S. Hart for giving me the opportunity to be on his ARC Team again. I can't wait for the sequel to The Soulless Witch and will be waiting eagerly for it.

Review:
Roman, a vampire, and Celeste, a witch, make for the perfect power duo couple that is seriously chef’s kiss.
Bleeding Love, is the prequel novella for The Soulless Witch Series, that I will be reading as soon as possible, but for now, they are waiting patiently (read impatiently) in my never ending TBR list, that I swear I will read! Seriously though, I will be reading The Soulless Witch sooner rather than later, as it is high on my TBR list and currently only Book 1 is out!
This is my first read by the lovely J.S. Hart, and it will not be my last! I look forward to seeing what comes next!
*I received this as an ARC, and am leaving an honest and voluntary review*
Bleeding Love by J.S Hart Dark Fantasy/ Dark Paranormal Romance
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶🌶🌶
💥Vampires and Witches 💥Magic 💥Enemies to Lovers 💥Friends With Benefits 💥Soulmates 💥Forced Captivity
I received this as an ARC and was not aware it was a prequel but I'm glad it is because I NEED more and I've never been a fan of prequels coming after a story when you already know what happens or how it ends🤣
The characters, world-building, and background stories are all very well written without being too much. This prequel is more and origin story for the MCs of the Soulless Witch series, about how Roman became a vampire and how he and Celeste met. The two find peace with each other, Roman isn't alone anymore and just "existing" and Celeste has found someone she can trust to protect her, and she's to live without constantly looking over her shoulder and being on the defensive every second trying to survive.
The ending was perfect, leaving you wanting to immediately know what happens next, if you are reading the prequel before the series. I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves vampires, witches and enemies to lovers with a slow burn romance ❤️
This is a companion to the Soulless Witch series. It's the story of how 2 of the MCs met, and to be honest, it can be enjoyed before or after reading the first book, but for sure will make you want to know more! The main plot of the book is solved, but as part of a series, it has unsolved parts too.
This is an amazing fantasy read. I would recommend reading this one before the Soulless witch due to the timeline.
The characters and the world are really well constructed, and their story is super interesting
I think Rowan is the sweetest vampire. He cares so much for Celeste. As much as Celeste doesn’t want to admit it, even in Soulless Witch, she depends on Rowan a lot for love and protection. I think the biggest thing is she doesn’t want to be vulnerable again. I was completely unprepared for Roman’s story. The life he came from, the horror and thoughts that must have consumed him. The witches' weaknesses surprised me. Especially the one weakness that they keep a secret. I hadn’t realized the amount of time laps in the beginning of the Soulless Witch and Bleeding Love. I could feel Roman’s pain in Chapter 22. It was so real, heavy, and torturous to him even though he has no beating heart. The pain that Celeste was feeling would be best described as the lost of true love. The last paragraph of Chapter 22 has me in tears from the dedication. I am awe struck.
I do not know if I can wait for the next book to be released in the series. I love this series so much. JS Hart you are an amazing author.
‘Do not give up on life before you have experienced it fully, and when you find someone who makes your heart sing, never let them go. Love is the blood of life, Roman. Without it, you won’t live. You’d merely exist and there is nothing more tragic than that.’
This is a companion to the Soulless Witch series. This might contain spoilers for The Soulless Witch. It can be read as a stand alone but is better with the bigger novel. Trust me, you’ll love it!
Roman is a vampire hunting a witch. When he finds her and she convinces him. It go kill her, he ends up saving her.
Celeste is an ancient, powerful witch. After Roman saves her, she forms an attraction to him. As he keeps her out of the hands from others that want her dead, they form a strong bond.
This is an amazing fantasy read and I can’t wait for the next one in the series. I would recommend reading this one before the Soulless witch due to the timeline.
Wow!! Reading how Celeste and Roman met and came together was amazing. Celeste, an ancient witch, is constantly hunted. Oh, by the way, she is immortal. Everyone wants her to experiment on her or to try and kill her for good. No one has succeeded. Roman, a vampire, succeeded in capturing Celeste while she was fighting off witch hunters. Something is drawing these two together. While in captivity, Celeste continuously attacks Roman to find a way out. Roman increasingly allows Celeste more room to be free. Celeste knows she can't get out of the house, yet, but treasures her freedom to roam.
After one of Roman's vampire friends stops by and attacks Celeste, Roman's unexpected feelings come out. He protects her and they run away from their safe haven. They form a plan to give Celeste some time to rest and recover. Celeste has never had the freedom to actually restore her magic. Every time she comes back, she has to be constantly on alert. Now she has someone to watch her back while she rests. It helps that Roman and Celeste are very attracted to one another. Celeste is adamant that no feelings be involved. Can Roman keep his promise? He is changing. The more he is around Celeste, the more he cares for her. Will Roman let Celeste go?
Let me just start by saying that I was not aware that this was a prequel to a series. It was great on its own. I am glad to have gotten this as an ARC and would definitely grab the physical book off the shelves! Vampires and witches...damn. At first I wasn't entirely sure how I liked the writing style. It felt that it was way too much imagery and not a lot of dialogue; however, getting further into the story, I saw that it worked out for the better. The characters: Celeste and Roman are such a great match, it was captivating. The spice was at first subtle but it was still enough to get this girl to continue reading.
I would definitely recommend it to those who love a good spice and action story, who loves vampires and witches and just magic.
Came for a vampire smut, and was not disappointed on that front. Celeste and Roman had an interesting dynamic, especially in the beginning. I would have given this prequel a higher score if not for the ending that fell flat. We started on a good enemies-to-lovers vibe, but then they became comfortable with each other and just lived together FOR YEARS? They had that one big fight against the baddies and that was it?
However, I was intrigued by the preview of The Soulless Witch #1 attached to the end of this. I guess this book succeeded in its job as a prequel.
Spice scale (as defined by Mysterious Galaxy): 🔥🔥🔥🔥 [Grab a fan because it’s getting hot in here!]
This is a great dark fantasy romance story where we meet two very powerful but "damaged" characters. I don't want to add any spoiler so I won't give too many details about the story itself.
It's a companion novella in a series of books, the story of how 2 of the MCs met, and to be honest, it can be enjoyed before or after reading the first book, but for sure will make you want to know more! (the main plot of the book is solved, but as part of a series, it has unsolved things)
The characters and the world are really well constructed, and their story is super interesting.
I received this as an ARC. I went into it not knowing it was a prequel to The Soulless Witch, so I was a bit disappointed when I realized I wasn’t getting answers from The Soulless Witch (hopefully there will be a third book!)
I liked learning more about Celeste and Roman’s history. I noticed the medallion was never mentioned. It being such a big part of the last book, I was expecting to hear more about it.
Roman’s story was perfectly portrayed, and I appreciated him more after learning what he had been through.
Overall, it was a good read. Very quick, but a lot of detail. Highly recommend!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This cliffhanger really caught me off guard. The Characters are absolutely great, with strengths and weaknesses and totally believable. I absolutely loved that Celeste knows her strength and uses her abilities. She doesn't turn into a simpering horny mess, just because Roman is attractive. Sure they come close to each other and have 🔥 times, but still she acts her age. There is not much world building needed, but it is done so well that nearly from start we understand what's happening and I was hooked, really I didn't want to put the book down.
This is a prequel to a series, so I will probably just start and hopefully find out what happens.
Just completed Bleeding Love by J.S. Hart, a part of The Soulless Witch series, which I only realized while composing this review. Exploring the premise was enjoyable; it's been a while since I delved into a vampire story, probably since the Twilight era brought back teenage memories. While not the epitome of well-written literature, it was digestible, though lacking context at times and feeling hurried. Roman, the primary male character, offers a compelling perspective. The book ends on what seems like a cliffhanger, though it likely sets the stage for the next installment. Unsure if I'll continue with the series, but time will tell.
This story is great to be read as standalone, but I guarantee you if you read it you'll want to read other stories from this series too. If you read book 1 from The Soulless Witch first, you'll fall in love with the characters there and excitedly wait to see how our powerful and se*y vampire and witch crossed each others path and met. I loved it so much that I had to read some paragraphs more than once. It stirred my emotions, so I wanted to cry how good some parts were, or beautiful, emotional or just sad. (I'm not a crybaby at all, I promise.)
I’m not normally a fantasy girl, I don’t typically read anything fantasy, vampires, witches, dragons or anything like that. But reading the blurb I just knew I had to read it. And I was not disappointed. Of you love fantasy, read it. If you love spicy books, read it. If you love enemies to lovers, read if. Just read it! The characters, the background story, the enemies to lovers part, everything was so well written and developed. Easily in my top 5 of the year! Loved, loved, loved!!
I was lucky enough to be chosen as an ARC reader for this story. And boy oh boy, do I have thoughts! Firstly, I really enjoyed this book. Let’s just start there. The story starts off rather fast paced. And it somehow just got better and better as it progressed. The complexities grew and the plot thickened. And the spicy scenes? Had me giggling and blushing like a schoolgirl! All I can say is, Ms Hart, you really nailed this story, and I’m incredibly grateful to have been selected as an ARC reader.
Oh, how I loved it! Bleeding love is a companion novella to The Soulless Witch Series. We get to see how Celleste and Roman meet. He isn’t your typical vampire, and she really isn’t your typical witch. They are such a power couple. I love their chemistry and I can’t wait to read more of the series to see where things go! The Soulless Witch Series is definitely going on my favorites list!
As always be mindful of trigger warnings, what I like you may not.
